Richard Allen Robbins
Richard Allen Robbins, son of Richard L. and Elizabeth A. Taylor Robbins was born Christmas day of 1963 in Springfield, OH and departed this life after a valiant and courageous battle from cancer at the age of 38 years, 5 months. He passed from this life at 6:00 am Saturday, May 25, 2002 in Chillicothe, OH. Rich lived most recently near Chillicothe with his uncle, Dwain D. Robbins. He had lived in Springfield, South Charleston and Tremont City and had attended Northwestern and Southeastern Schools.
After graduating in 1981 from Southeastern High School, Rich served in the U.S. Navy. Rich pursued employment with the PIC Program, custodian and medical assistant, Buckeye Woods, Hirsh Container, Land Air, Inc. and Carich Ford with a passion for mechanical engineering.
He gave freely of himself to others, often denying himself. His love was in great supply for his family and friends. His arms seem to reach out to surround his entire family, with plenty of room for others, especially to those in need. Family gatherings were a joy to him and separation seemed to be painful. He had a zest for life, which was exemplified in his love for family, friends and work. Throughout his life, however, the foundation of all he did was his belief in others and his devotion to them and his family. It was displayed in everything he did and was manifest in all those whose life he touched. He was a stalwart at home and at work, with a good attitude and a sincere work ethic.
He will be remembered as a father, a son, grandson, brother, nephew, great nephew, uncle, cousin and as a friend and acquaintance to so many people. Those who were fortunate enough to know him will always remember his effervescent laughter and irrepressible spirit, all captured in an earthly body under a beautiful head of blonde hair and blue eyes.
That spirit, so long contained, is now released into the heavens to spread its radiant glow. He will be missed by all, but with lots of loving memories to hold close.
He is survived by his wonderful sons, Zachary Nathaniel and Travis Uriah Robbins of Springfield. Also surviving are his father, Richard L. and brothers Scott A. and Todd A. Robbins of Springfield, and Christopher A. Robbins, U.S. Navy, Jacksonville, NC. His grandmothers, Louise M. Robbins and Ida M. Taylor will greatly miss him. A host of aunts, uncles and cousins survive, including David E. (Marilyn) Robbins, Mechanicsburg, OH, Ronald C. (Jackee) Robbins, Hollywood, FL, Gary L. (Marcella), S. Charleston, OH, J. Sue (Jim) Hand, Urbana, OH, Michael L. (Phyllis), Springfield, OH, Delores J. (Scott) Carter, Jamestown, OH, Dwain D. Robbins, Chillicothe, OH, Randy W. Robbins, Enon, OH, Betty Ricketts, New Carlisle, OH, Ed and Shirley Kidder, Springfield, OH, Mary Jones, Springfield, OH, Nancy and Harold Stewart, New Carlisle, OH. Rich will be greatly missed by special nieces and nephews, Siera Danielle, Brandon Michael and Bryant Lee Robbins, several cousins and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Ann Taylor Robbins, grandfathers, Charles W. Robbins and Paul Taylor, an aunt, Joyce Marie Robbins and uncles Robert Taylor and Jerry Jones, as well as a host of previous departed great aunts, great uncles and special people and friends.
Cremation will follow his departure and a memorial service and celebration of life gathering will be held at a later time, location and hour to be announced.
Rich loved the outdoors, trapping, hunting animals, mushrooms and projectile points, fishing and canoeing. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that you please plant a tree, adopt a pet or make a contribution to your own favorite charity.
