Mary H. Bowman
Mary H. Bowman, 81, of Chillicothe, died 5:40 a.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2003, in Westmoreland Place, following an extended illness.
She was born April 18, 1922, in Ross County, to the late Daniel R. and Margaret Smith Harness. On March 19, 1945, she married Albert C. Bowman, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, James Michael "Mike" Bowman; granddaughter, Jennifer Ann Bowman, of Pittsburgh; daughter-in-law, Nancy Ayres Bowman, of Langhorne, PA.; sisters, Virginia Marsh, of Seattle, Washington, sister Sally Harness, of Mt. St. Joseph, Ohio, and Barbara (John) Herrnstein, of Chillicothe; brothers, Robert L. (Garnet) Harness and Daniel (Jane) Harness all of Chillicothe. She was predeceased by sisters, Margery "Sam" Perdue, Elizabeth J. Collins and Josephine V. Harness.
Private graveside services will be held later at the convience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the Ware Funeral Home.

Maggie Victoria Stanley
Maggie Victoria Stanley, 94, of Greenfield, died Tuesday, at Edgewood Manor, Greenfield.
Janice L. Terry
Janice L. Terry was born November 13, 1938, in Chillicothe, and passed away December 15, 2003, in Columbus.
She was preceded in death by beloved parents, Elizabeth Wright and Frank Terry Jr. Janice also had four sisters, Mary Joe Smith, (deceased), Sandra Terry, (deceased), Rose Patterson, (deceased), and Crystal Goolsby; six brothers, Reginald Wright (deceased), Frank (Carlene) Terry, of Aurora, CO, Carl (Virgie) Terry, Richard (Bernita) Wright, John Terry, of Denver, CO, and Royal Wright. Janice is survived by her four children, Anthony (Alice) Terry, Patrea (Lee Sr.) Toler, Elizabeth Terry and Leslie Terry; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; cousins; and a special friend Brack Goolsby Sr.
Jan (Mom) was an original member of the Columbus RoadRunners Women's Softball Team. She began playing for the RoadRunners in 1963 and retired in 1997. Janice was inducted into the Women's Softball Hall of Fame.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday in the Original Glorious Church of God, Bishop Melvin Maughmer officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call 12 to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church. Haller Funeral Home is serving the family.
Marcella V. Wiley
Marcella V. Wiley, 88, of Chillicothe, died 2:40 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003 in the Adena Regional Medical Center.
Donald R. Williams
Donald R. Williams, 68, of Chillicothe, went to be with the Lord December 16, 2003, in the Adena Regional Medical Center, unexpectedly.
He was born October 10, 1935, in Ross Co., to John and Mary Rudd Williams. On June 29, 1956, he married Florence A. Cassel, who survives.
Also surviving is a daughter, Rhonda (James) Colburn, of Waverly; a son, Don, of Chillicothe; four grandchildren, Joel Williams, Jonathon Stewart, Lindsey Kempton and Tyler Colburn; a sister, Betty (Damon) Lively, of Circleville; three brothers, Rev. Gene (Ida) Williams, of Chillicothe, Russ (Gail) Williams, Mesa, AZ, and John (Kim) Williams, of Circleville. He was preceded in death by a son, Rick, a brother, and four sisters.
Mr. Williams retired from the Mead Corp. April 1, 1998, after 39 years of service.
He attended the Mt. Tabor Community Church, where funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Rev. Dennis Garman officiating. Burial will follow in Springbank Cemetery. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Haller Funeral Home.
Frank Leroy Young
Frank Leroy Young, age 71, of McArthur, passed away Monday, December 15, 2003, at Adena Regional Medical Center. He was born February 29, 1932, in Elk Twp., Vinton County, to the late Lafe E. and Audra Wine Young.
He retired from Mead in 1990, after 38 years of service. Member McArthur F.O.E. Aerie #2279 and social member Vinton County V.F.W. Post #5299.
Survived by wife, Pauline Hartney Young; daughters, Pamela (Wayne) Alderman, of Kingston, and Teresa (Donnie) Yors, of McArthur; sons, Roger (Kathy) Young, of Chillicothe, and Terry (Lynn) Young, Rineyville, KY; sisters, Freeda Robinson, of St. Louis, MO, Sharon (Robert) Davenport, of Chillicothe; brothers, Herbert Young, of Lakeland, FL, Garry Sr. (Flip) Young and Melvin (Sonnie) Young, both of Chillicothe, and Marvin (Shirley) Young, of Riverview, FL; sister-in-law, I. Jean Young, of Chillicothe; ten grandchildren, Heather (Keith) Evans, W. Douglas (Amanda) Miller, Holly Young, Tamela and Milton Alderman, Jr., Devin and Christopher Young, Cheryl Segundo, Jade and Wesley Yors; ten great grandchildren, Mackenzie Miller, Amber and Ashley Mercer, Richard and Amanda Hillsheimer, Brandi, Erik and Charles Alderman, Amber and Alyssa Segundo; and former wife, Patsy Perry, of Chillicothe.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harold and second wife, Ethel Yors Young.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Haller Funeral Home, with Pastor Randy O'Donnell officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday (today) at Garrett Funeral Home, McArthur and 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Haller Funeral Home, Chillicothe.
Beverly A. Congrove
Beverly Congrove, 67, died Dec. 18, 2003, at her home surrounded by her family after a long courageous battle with cancer. She was born Aug. 19,1936, in Chillicothe to Guy C. and Esther M. McConnell Donahue.
Sherman Emerson 'Ben' Davis
Sherman Emerson "Ben" Davis, 85, formerly of Waverly, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2003, at Pike Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, in High Street Church of Christ in Christian Union, Chillicothe. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Boyer Funeral Home, Waverly and 10 a.m. until time of service at the church.

Charles E. Manuel, 60, of Bainbridge died Friday, Dec. 19, 2003, in Pike Community Hospital.

Karl G. Filsinger
Karl G. Filsinger, 81, of Chillicothe, died early Tuesday morning, December 23, 2003, at his residence.
He was born November 16, 1922, in Chillicothe, to the late Fred and Edna (Rutherford) Filsinger. In 1945, he married the former Evelyn Rice, who preceded him in death on July 4, 1992.
He later married Dorothy (McKeever) DeCamp, on July 19, 1998, who survives.
Also surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Mark (Cathy) Filsinger, Piqua, OH; his daughters, Kathie Filsinger, Beverly, Mass., and Karla Filsinger, Gahanna, OH; a stepson, Dain (Jennifer) DeCamp, Chillicothe; grandchildren Christian, Kelly, and Kari Filsinger, all of Piqua; stepgranddaughter, Dainelle DeCamp, of Chillicothe; and a sister, Mary Peck, of Chillicothe. He was preceded in death by brothers, Fred, Jr. and Lowell Filsinger and a sister, Dorothy Bandy.
Mr. Filsinger was the owner and operator of the Kem Printing Company. He also had taught printing at the Pickaway-Ross Joint Vocational School. He enjoyed reading, traveling and bird watching in his free time.
Karl was a W.W.II Army Veteran, having served in the 35th division of the 320th Infantry Regiment.
While serving his country, he earned several medals, including the Combat Infantryman's Badge, Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European Theater Medal, with five Battle Stars, French Medal for the invasion of France, W.W.II Victory Medal, US Army Service Medal, Combat Service Medal, W.W.II Battle of the Bulge Medal, D-Day Commemorative Medal, and also the Marksman Badge for Rifle and the Expert Badge for Carbine.
He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 62, AMVETS Post 4, VFW Post 108, Eagles Aerie 600, the Elks Lodge, and a Kentucky Colonel.
Military graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 27, in Greenlawn Cemetery, by the Ross Co. Veterans Firing Squad.
Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Haller Funeral Home.
