DEGRAFF - Clara Mae Foster, 84, of Conover, formerly of Quincy, died Wednesday, May 28, 2003, at 12:30 p.m. at Green Hills Care Center, West Liberty.
She was born Aug. 3, 1918, in Quincy, the daughter of the late Harley W. and Bessie Ellen (Allen) McFarlin.
She married
Archie L. Foster, June 1, 1951, in Mississippi and he preceded her in death Dec. 27, 1990.
Mrs. Foster is survived by three sons and their wives, Jerry L. and Pat Foster of Bellefontaine, Bill and Paula Foster of Quincy and Larry E. and Pat Foster of Sidney; a daughter, Mrs. Dan (Judy) Thompson of Conover; 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; a brother, Ernest "Jiggs" McFarlin of Sidney; and many nieces and nephews.
A homemaker, Mrs. Foster was a member of the Church of Christ in Port Jefferson. She enjoyed gardening and crocheting.
Services will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home by John Willbur and Troy Gilmore. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery, Quincy.
Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home in DeGraff.

ST. MARYS - Melvin L. Heidt, 73, 330 Sturgeon St., died Wednesday, May 28, 2003 at 6:32 p.m. at Joint Township District memorial Hospital following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys by the Rev. Patricia Minnick. Burial will be in German Protestant cemetery, New Bremen. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

BEND, Ore. - Marcus R. Foster, the son of a former Sidney resident was recently killed as the result of injuries sustained a an auto accident in Bend, Ore.
Foster, 44, died of injuries sustained in a March 29 crash. He was the son of former Sidney resident Nancy Foster, currently of Feria, Texas. His maternal grandparent, John F. And Kathryn (Trimpe) Foster of Sidney preceded him in death.
Charles LeRoy Hamaker

BEAUMONT, Texas - Charles LeRoy Hamaker, 59, of Beaumont, Texas, died Tuesday, May 27, 2003, at Memorial Hermann Baptist Beaumont Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Phyliss Hamaker of Beaumont.
Other survivers include two sons, David Hamaker and his wife, Elizabeth, and William Hamaker, all of Beaumont; one daughter, Penny Boyer and her husband, Alan, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; his mother, Doris Hamaker of Sidney; sisters, Pamela Godfrey and her husband, Carl, of Troy, Ohio, Leona Fell and her husband, Jerry, of Crawford, Cheryl Lambert and her husband, Jim, and Lisa Macey and her husband, Jason, all of Sidney; grandchildren, Michael Hamaker of San Antonio, Texas Kristin Boyer of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, and A. J. Hamaker, Bianca Hamaker and Robert Hamaker, all of Beaumont, Texas.
Hamaker was a native of Sidney. He had lived in Beaumont, Texas for 12 years. He was retired as a saleman for Philpott Ford, Lincoln, Mercury and Toyota.
There are no services planned.

Clarence G. Mattox

Age: 78
Clarence G. Mattox, 78, 2805 Wapakoneta Ave. Lot 43, died Tuesday, May 27, 2003, at Wilson Memorial Hospital.
He was born Jan. 31, 1925, in Urbana, the son of Walter and Hazel (Eaton) Mattox.
He married
Marcella J. Simes, Dec. 30, 1945, and she survives along with four daughters, Mrs. Gregory (Sherrell) Clifford of Brooksville, Fla., Mrs. Roger (Linda) Markley of Anna, Mrs. Paul (Marlareena) Gross of Sidney and Mrs. Michael (Poleena) McPheron of Lima; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Denton J. Mattox, and his parents.
Mr. Mattox was employed by Monarch Machine Tool for 40 years until his retirement in 1987. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a life member of Sidney American Legion Post 217, a member of the Sidney VFW, the Shelby County Senior Citizens and the Senior Swingers.
He was a member of the First Church of God in Sidney and the All Faith Church in lake City, Fla.
The funeral will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Cromes Funeral Home with the Rev. Tod Huston officiating. Burial will be in Shelby Memory Gardens, Sidney, with full military honors.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 12:30 until the hour of the service at the funeral home. The Sidney American Legion will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Robert L. Morton

PIQUA - Robert L. Morton, 64, of 10245 Springcreek Road, Piqua, died at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2003 in his residence. He was born in Piqua on Feb. 24, 1939 to the late Anderson and Lillie Martin Morton. He married
Judy K. Briggs on Oct. 1, 1959 in Piqua; and she survives.
Other survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law Bryon Morton of Piqua, Brent and Kathi Morton of Sidney, and Brad and Kylee Morton of Pleasant Hill; two daughters, Roxanna Morton and Kim Goetz both of Piqua; 13 grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; a brother and sister-in-law, Anderson and Marilyn Morton of Ormond Beach, Fla.; and three sisters and brothers-in-law, Rosalie and Alfred Cooper, Judith and Harry Lamoreaux, all of Piqua and Joy Hall of Bloomington, Ind. He was preceded in death by a grandson.
Mr. Morton was a 1957 graduate of Piqua Central High School and retired from the Purchasing Department of Hartzell Propeller following 45 years of employment. He was a member of the Foreman's Club.
A memorial service will be conducted on Thursday, May 29, 2003, at 4 p.m. in the Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren with Pastor Nick Beam officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2-4 p.m. in the church. Arrangements are being handled through the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home.

Leona C. Berning

MINSTER - Leona C. Berning, 95, 172 S. Hanover St., Minster. She died on Monday, May 26, 2003 at 9 p.m. at the Heritage Manor Nursing Center, Minster. She was born on June 18, 1907, in Fort Loramie. She was the daughter of Joseph and Josephine (Pleiman) Gaier. On May 9, 1934, she married
Charles H. Berning, who died on May 12, 1994. Survivors include her daughters Dorothy Stukenborg of Minster, Ann Wise of Sidney, her sons Charles (Susannah) Berning of San Diego, Calif., and Vernon (Suzanne) Berning of Sidney. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were three sisters and two brothers.
Mrs. Berning was a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Newport and was a member of the churchs Ladies Sodality. She enjoyed playing cards and belonged to several card clubs and she enjoyed entertaining her grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday at 10:30 A.M. at the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Newport. with the Rev. Anthony Cutcher officiating. Burial will be in the Shelby Memory Gardens, Sidney, OH. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen and on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services at the church.
Bettie A. Harrod

TROY - Bettie A. Harrod, 78, of Troy, formerly of Bradford, died at 1:41 a.m. Monday, May 26, 2003 at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy.
She was born April 30, 1925 in Piqua to the late Louis and Elizabeth (Williams) Black.
Survivors include three children, Michael Harrod of Louisville, Ky., Melissa Harrod of Troy and Mart Harrod of Tory; three sisters, Bendetta Ely of Piqua, Delores Aselage of Sidney; and Alberta Kippert of Janesville Wis.; two grandchildren, Marsha Harrod and Jeremy Small of Troy; two great-grandchildren, Bruce Small and Anthony Cotrell of Troy; and friend, Debra Cotrell of Troy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three children, Judith, Ronald and Marsha Harrod, and five brothers and three sisters.
She attended United Church of Christ of Covington and Piqua High School. She retired in 1988 from Ivex Paper Co. after 13 years of service.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 30 at Baird Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ed Ellis officiating. Burial will be in Houston cemetery, Houston.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.

Daniel Darren McKibben, 40, 321 Park St., died Monday, April 21, 2003, at 9:21 p.m. at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton of head injuries following an accident involving a golf cart Sunday at Shelby Oaks Golf Course.
He was born April 15, 1963, in Sidney, the son of Daniel McKibben Sr. and Mary (Smith) McKibben, both of whom survive. His stepmother was Sandy Loffer, who survives.
On Oct. 14, 1989, he married
Deanna (Wentz) McKibben. She died Jan. 15, 1998.
On April 5, 2003, he married
Lori Kies, who survives.
Other survivors are a son, Zachary McKibben of Sidney; a sister, Denise (McCune) McKibben of Sidney; and a brother, Dana McKibben of Sidney.
A 1981 graduate of Sidney High School, Mr. McKibben was owner of Rainbow Bar & Grille of Sidney. He was a former employee of Gilardi's and Honda of America Anna Engine Plant.
Services are planned for Friday at 2 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Moran officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 12:30 to 2 p.m.
Pearl E. Moeller

NEW BREMEN - Pearl E. Moeller, 91, of 501 E. Monroe St., and Pensacola, Fla., . died on Monday, April 21, 2003 at 12:30 a.m. at the Specialty Care Center, Pensacola, Fla.
She was born on Nov. 2, 1911 near New Bremen, the daughter of Arthur W. and Hilda M. (Westerbeck) Moeller.
Ms. Moeller is survived by her sister Ethel Wooton of Pensacola, Fla,
She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister .
Ms. Moeller was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ in New Bremen and was a clothing model for many years at various cities throughout the United States.
Graveside services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m at the German Protestant cemetery, New Bremen with the Rev. John W. Tostrick officiating.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 10 until 11:30 A.M. at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen.

Robert E. Brinkman

PIQUA - Robert E. Brinkman, 81, 817 W. Water St., father of Keith Alan Brinkman of Sidney, died Sunday, April 20, 2003, at 9:45 a.m. at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy.
He was born Sept. 10, 1921, in Piqua, the son of Earl and Mabel Faehl Brinkman.
On Aug. 20, 1941, he married
Catherine L. (Brush) Brinkman, who died April 7, 2002.
He is survived by three sons, nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, a brother and a sister.
A daughter preceded him in death.
Mr. Brinkman retired in 1984 from French Oil Mill Machine Co. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 184 of Piqua.
Services are planned for Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home in Piqua, with the Rev. Roger Toon officiating. Burial will be in Miami Memorial Park, Covington.
Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
