Rowena F. Martz, 92, 120 Ruth St., died Sunday, April 20, 2003, at 10:20 a.m. at her residence.
She was born Aug. 20, 1910, in Anna, the daughter of William Bertsch and Margaret (Beemer) Bertsch.
On Nov. 28, 1934, she married
Walter L. Martz. He died April 22, 1976.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. John (Marlene) Huecker of Anna; five grandchildren; and a sister, Lena Laughlin of Sidney.
Five brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
Mrs. Martz was a retired sales clerk. During her career she worked at Montgomery Ward, Burkhardt Shoes, Jerrold's, Lord's and Kauffman's stores. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary 217 of Sidney, Wilson Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Sidney Elks Auxiliary, Senior Center of Sidney-Shelby County, Shelby County Womens' International Bowling Congress and Womens Association Hall of Fame. She was a lifetime member of St. Jacob Lutheran Church.
Services are set for Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Cromes Funeral Home, with the Rev. Michael Althauser officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
Memorials may be made to the church or Wilson Hospital Auxiliary.
William C. Raeuchel

Age: 82
MARION - William C. Raeuchel, 82, formerly of Springfield, father of Jane Raeuchel, and stepfather of Mrs. Jerry (Carolyn) Harrod, both of Botkins, died Sunday, April 20, 2003, at Community Nursing Home in Marion.
He was born Dec. 12, 1920, in Louisville, Ky., the son of Chris John Raeuchel and Pearl (George) Raeuchel.
Survivors include a son, a daughter, Jane Raeuchel, a stepdaughter, a stepson, seven grandchildren and three sisters.
Seven brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
Mr. Raeuchel was a former truck driver, was involved in farming for many years and was a retired employee with state of Ohio parks.
Services are planned for Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Woods-Allgier Funeral Home in Springfield, with Dr. J. Wesley Babian officiating. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Park, New Carlisle.
Friends may call at Bennett Brown Rodman Funeral Home in Delaware, Ohio, Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m., and at Woods-Allgier Funeral Home Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Helen C. Brandt
Died: Thursday, April 3, 2003
Age: 95
KETTLERSVILLE - Funeral services for Helen C. Brandt, 95, of Greenwich, Conn., formerly of Kettlersville, will be conducted Saturday, April 2 at 11 a.m. at Immaculate United Church of Christ by the Rev. James Melter. Burial will be in Shelby Memory Gardens, Sidney.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of the church services. A reception at the Sidney Holiday Inn will follow the cemetery services.
The Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen completed funeral arrangements.
Mrs. Brandt died April 3, 2003 at the Hill House in Greenwich, Conn. She was born June 7, 1907 in Wauseon, the daughter of Ralph and Mary Clark.
She married
Karl W. Brandt, July 9, 1938 and he preceded her in death Aug. 14, 1979. She is survived by two grandchildren in Greenwich. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one son.
Mrs. Brandt was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Kettlersville where she was a past president of Church Women United and active in other church and community activities. She had been active in a coupon collecting group that raised funds for the Auglaize School in New Bremen.
She was a graduate of Wauseon High School, attended Miami University in Oxford and was a member of Beta Phi Alpha Sorority. She had been employed as a legal secretary for a Sidney law firm and before moving to Kettlersville had worked for the U.S. Department of the Interior. She and her husband had operated a dairy farm in Kettlersville.
Charles M. Mosler
Died: Friday, April 25, 2003
Age: 81
WAPAKONETA - Charles M. "Bud" Mosler, 81, formerly of Middle Pike Road, father of former Sidney resident Mrs. Dennis (Carol) Katter, died Friday, April 25, 2003, at 9:10 p.m. at his residence.
He was born Dec. 18, 1921, in Wapakoneta, the son of Edward W. and Mary Catherine (Sheipline) Mosler.
On Nov. 25, 1947, he married
Ruth V. (Okuley) Mosler, who survives.
Other survivors are three sons, two daughters, 14 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and two sisters.
Four brothers preceded him in death.
Mr. Mosler was a lifelong farmer. He was in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving 31/2 years as a medic in the Pacific Theater. He was the recipient of six Bronze Stars. He was a life timemember of VFW Post 8445 of Wapakoneta. He attended St. Joseph Catholic Church of Wapakoneta and was a member of the Holy Name Society. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and spending time with his family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the church Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. William Eilerman officiating. Burial with graveside military services will be in St. Joseph cemetery.

Franklin Kenneth Schaffer

Age: 54
WEST JEFFERSON - Franklin Kenneth Schaffer Sr., 54, died Friday, April 25, 2003, in his residence.
Born Nov. 7, 1948, in Dayton he was the son of Ruth and Bill Ludwig of Sidney, who survive.
His wife, Mary J. Ball Schaffer, survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Steve (Rhonda) Gee of Columbus; three stepdaughters, Mrs. John (Rita) Fannin of Xenia, Bobbie Whiteside and Anita Griffith, both of Galloway; one stepson, James Griffith of Columbus; three brothers, Dave Norris of Cambridge, Marvin Norris and Billy Ludwig, both of Sidney; one sister, Julie Ludwig of Sidney, two grandchildren, seven step grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren.
Mr. Schaffer was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post 7005 and the American Legion Post 201, both of West Jefferson, and AMVETS Post 1928 of Columbus.
Services were today at 1 p.m. in the Rader-McDonald Funeral Home in West Jefferson. Burial and graveside military service was performed by the West Jefferson American Legion and the VFW in Oak Grove cemetery in Georgesville.
Helen W. Fogt

Age: 77
Helen W. Fogt, 77, 705 Fulton St., died Thursday, April 24, 2003, in the Pavillion.
Born Feb. 11, 1926, in Sidney, she was the daughter of the late Louis N. Fogt and Dora S. Bertsch Fogt.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
Miss Fogt was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
She was retired from Copeland Corporation where she worked as a machine operator.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the Cromes Funeral Home with the Rev. Jonathan Schriber officiating. Burial will be in Pearl cemetery in Swanders. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John's Lutheran Church.
Marinus W. Ruschau

Age: 91
VERSAILLES - Marinus W. Ruschau, 91, 312 Park Blvd., a former member of Yorkshire Village Council, died Thursday, April 24, 2003, at 1:50 a.m. at Versailles Health Care Center.
He was born Nov. 23, 1911, in Cassella, the son of the late Bernard and Catherine (Buehler) Ruschau.
On Oct. 28, 1939, he married
Irene (Heitkamp) Ruschau. She died Nov. 30, 2002.
He is survived by two sons, Robert Ruschau of Versailles and Allen Ruschau of Tipp City; three daughters, Mrs. Joe (Carolyn) Steiger of Zanesville, Donna Phillips of Rochester, N.Y., and Mrs. Richard (Cindy) Sowell of Lambertville, Mont.; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wilfred Ruschau of Dayton and Jim Ruschau of St. Marys; and a sister, Mary Catherine Riethman of Minster.
Five brothers preceded him in death.
Mr. Ruschau was an employee of Frigidaire of Dayton for 10 years and owned a grocery store in Yorkshire for 11 years. He was an independent insurance agent for 20 years. He served on Yorkshire Village Council for 25 years. After retirement he moved to Versailles in 1979. He was a member of Versailles Rotary Club and served as president in 1963-64. He was a Paul Harris Fellow recipient. He was a member of Knights of St. John Catholic Order of Foresters for 50 years and was a member of Versailles Eagles Lodge. He was a board member and founder of Versailles Senior Citizens Center. He was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles and was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church and the church choir for many years. He enjoyed woodworking.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Denis Church Monday at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. David Vincent officiating. Burial will be in St. Valbert cemetery, Versailles.

John G. Fleckenstein
Died: Tuesday, April 22, 2003
Age: 76
John G. Fleckenstein, 76, Ohio 705, died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at 9:16 a.m. at Wilson Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
He was born Oct. 2, 1926, in Fort Loramie, the son of Rosa (Arkenberg) Fleckenstein and Gregor Fleckenstein.
On June 15, 1984, he married
Joan (Helson) Fleckenstein, who survives.
Other survivors are a daughter, Kim Fleckenstein, and a grandson.
A brother is deceased.
Mr. Fleckenstein was a retired farmer and was retired from the Dayton Daily News newspaper as a circulation manager. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a 1944 graduate of Fort Loramie High School. He was a member of American Legion Post 355 of Fort Loramie.
Graveside services are planned for Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Michael's cemetery, Fort Loramie, with the Rev. Steven Shoup officiating.
At Mr. Fleckenstein's request the body was cremated. Gehret Funeral Home of Fort Loramie is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Fort Loramie Rescue Squad or Fort Loramie Fire Department.
Rose Alma Lammers
Died: Tuesday, April 22, 2003
Age: 83
MINSTER - Rose Alma Lammers, 83, 243 S. Hanover St., died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at 9:50 a.m. at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys following an extended illness.
She was born Nov. 22, 1919, in St. Henry, the son of John and Gertrude (Streacker) Fullenkamp.
On Nov. 24, 1938, she married
Wilbur B. Lammers, who died Nov. 21, 1991.
She is survived by two sons, Robert Lammers of Minster and John Lammers of Poway, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Larry (Anne) Larger of Minster; 8 grandsons; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Louis Fullenkamp of St. Henry; and two sisters, Mrs. Ed (Mary) Fieley of Centerville and Mrs. Gerald (Mildred) VanderHorst.
She was preceded in death by a sister, four brothers and a great-grandchild.
Mrs. Lammers was a homemaker. She attended St. Augustine Catholic Church and was a member of the Mission Commission of the church. She also was a member of historical societies in Minster and Fort Loramie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the church Saturday at 1 p.m., with the Rev. David Hoying officiating. Burial will be in St. Augustine cemetery, Minster.
Friends may call at Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Minster Friday from 2 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 to 9:30 a.m.
