BOWERSVILLE, Ga. - Albert Clay Brautigam, 61, formerly of Sidney, of 1568 Lavonia Highway, Bowersville, Ga., died Thursday, March 27, 2003 at Elbert County Hospital.
He was born April 4, 1941, in Sidney, the son of Daniel and Beulah Brautigam of Sidney and they survive.
He was married
to Loretta (Cleveland) Brautigam, who survives.
He is also survived by a sister Marian Desch of Sidney.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Mr. Brautigam was employed with the Information Technology Center at Clemson University. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of Flat Shoals Baptist Church, where he formerly was a deacon and Sunday School teacher of the Friendship Class.
The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Flat Shoals Baptist Church, with the Revs. Mitch Ash and Jerry Stowe officiating. Burial will be in Cross Roads Baptist cemetery. The body will be at the church at 2:30 p.m.
Calling hours will be today from 7-9 p.m. at Strickland Funeral Home in Hartwell, Ga.

Marjorie R. Rethman
Died: Thursday, March 27, 2003
Age: 63
Marjorie "Margie" R. Rethman, 63, Mercury Court, died Thursday, March 27, 2003, at 7:58 p.m. at Wilson Memorial Hospital, following a sudden illness.
She was born Nov. 30, 1939, in Shelby County, the daughter of the late August and Mary (Herbert) Barhorst.
On Feb. 7, 1959, she married
Edward J. Rethman at the Sacred Heart Church in McCartyville, and he survives.
She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Mike (Linda) Miller of Kettlersville, Mrs. Steve (Brenda) Gilardi of Mount Vernon, Mrs. Don (Janet) Livornese of Manhattan Beach, Calif. and Mrs. Ray (Amy) Lund of McLean, Va.; a son, Don Rethman of Jackson Center; and nine grandchildren.
She is also survived by seven sisters, Clarissa Brinkman of Temple, Ariz., Mrs. Lavern (Charline) Schmit of Celina, Doris Bruggerman of Coldwater, Mrs. Werner (Delores) Bruggerman of Maria Stein, Mrs. Ralph (Marilyn) Meyer of Coldwater, Mrs. Jack (Emily) Subler of Versailles and Mrs. Dick (Martha) Subler of New Bremen; three brothers, Herbert Barhorst of Russia, Joseph Barhorst of Coldwater and Clarence Barhorst of Botkins.
Mrs. Rethman was preceded in death by a sister.
Mrs. Rethman was a homemaker and worked at several fast food restaurants in Sidney. She was a member of Holy Angels Church. She was a member of Eagles Lodge 691 in Wapakoneta. She was a 1957 graduate of Anna High School. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards, spending time with her grandchildren and knitting.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sidney, with the Rev. Gerald Bensman officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart cemetery.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-8 p.m. and Monday from 8:30-9 a.m. at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie.

Jerome M. Subler
Died: Wednesday, March 26, 2003
Age: 88
VERSAILLES - Jerome M. "Jerry" Subler, 88, 123 W. Water St., died Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at 1:45 a.m. at his residence.
He was born June 14, 1914, in Frenchtown, the son of the late Frank and Adaline (Barga) Subler.
He was married
to Ann (Gehret) Subler of Versailles, who survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Eugene (Patricia) Kramer of Versailles; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Cecelia Simon of Versailles.
Six brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.
Mr. Subler was former owner and operator of Jerry Subler Garage. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 1756, fourth degree member of St. Gasper Del Bufalo Assembly of Minster, and a member of St. Valbert cemetery Board. He attended St. Denis Catholic Church, Versailles.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the church Monday at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. David Vincent officiating. Burial will be in St. Valbert cemetery.
Friends may call at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Greenville Sunday from 2 to 9 p.m. and Monday for one hour prior to the service. Knights of Columbus will conduct a rosary at the funeral home Monday at 7:30 p.m.

Lawrence J. Shaffer

Age: 65
HOUSTON - Lawrence J. "Dallas" Shaffer, 65, 3777 State Route 66, died Monday, March 17, 2003, at 7:12 a.m.
Born Jan. 18, 1938, in Portsmouth, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Blanche Brown Shaffer.
On Sept. 25, 1982, he married
the former Jane Supinger. She died in June of 1993.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Pamela) Bozarth and Mrs. Ralph (Debra) Harrington, both of Dayton; two sons, Gary Shaffer and Robin Shaffer, both of Dayton; five sisters, Mrs. Matt (Joan) Jordan of Waynesfield, Betty Brooks of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Fred (Norma) Egelhoff of Powell, Mrs. Virgil (Nancy) Lykins of Sidney and Mrs. Keith (M.J.) Nance of Yuma, Ariz., 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Two brothers preceded him in death.
He was retired from Copeland where he worked as a machine operator.
Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Adams Funeral Home with the Rev. David Shepherd officiating. Burial will be in Houston cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m.
Donations may be made to Wilson Hospice in his memory.
Marie L. Strasburg
Died: Monday, March 17, 2003
Age: 91
NEW BREMEN - Marie L. Strasburg, 91, formerly of Montezuma and New Bremen, died Monday, March 17, 2003 at 11:09 a.m. at the Heritage Manor Nursing Center, Minster.
She was born May 30, 1911 in Shelby County, the daughter of Louis and Elise (Soelman) Schnelle.
She married
Wilbur Strasburg June 28, 1933 and he preceded her in death July 25, 1990.
She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
Her parents, husband, an infant daughter and two sisters preceded her in death.
Mrs. Strasburg was a homemaker and a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ in New Bremen.
Services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen by the Rev. Stephen Wills. Burial will be in German Protestant cemetery, New Bremen.
Visitation will be one hour before the services Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Peter's United Church of Christ Memorial Fund.
H. Robert Rose
Died: Sunday, March 16, 2003
Age: 79
QUINCY - H. Robert Rose, 79, died Sunday, March 16, 2003, at 10:45 p.m. in Kettering Memorial Hospital.
Born July 3, 1923, in Champaign County, he was the son of the late Hugh E. and Zetta Dorsey Rose.
On Aug. 23, 1946, in Port Jefferson, he married
the former E. Ilene Dugger. She survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Randy Rose of Sidney, Rick Rose of Vandalia and Mike Rose of Quincy; one daughter, Mrs. Joe (Mary) Addy of Sidney; one brother, Donald Rose of Quincy; one sister, Doris Schindewolf of DeGraff, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
One grandchild preceded him in death.
In 1941, he graduated from Quincy High School.
He was a well-known fast pitch softball player and an avid Cincinnati Reds fan.
He was a farmer.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home with the Rev. N. Matthew Wright officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Point cemetery in Pasco. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Marjorie L. Bey
Died: Saturday, March 15, 2003
Age: 61
PIQUA - Marjorie L. Bey, 61, Piqua, died Saturday, March 15, 2003, at 4:25 p.m. at Koester Pavilion, Troy.
She was born Dec. 12, 1941, in Piqua, the daughter of the late Glenwood and Alice (Gustin) Pickering.
On June 26, 1964, she married
Raymond Bey Jr., in Piqua, and he survives.
She is also survived by a daughter, Maria Weaver of Sidney; a brother, Walter Pickering of Kansas City, Ks., a granddaughter, Heather Juraz of Sidney and great-granddaughter, Haley Weaver of Sidney.
Mrs. Bey was a 1959 graduate of Miami East High School.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Forest Hill cemetery in Piqua, with the Rev. Donald Wells officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home in Piqua.

Kenneth G. Linet
Died: Saturday, March 15, 2003
Age: 84
DEGRAFF - Kenneth G. "Pat" Linet, 84, formerly of DeGraff, more recently of Lima, died Saturday, March 15, 2003, at 1:42 p.m. at Beverly Healthcare in Lima.
He was born Oct. 6, 1918, in Logan County, the son of the late Clarence and Clara May (Wenrich) Linet.
On April 3, 1940, he married
Mary Belle Herndon in Jackson Center, and she preceded him in death in 1996. On May 19, 2000, he married
Thelma Oder Detrick, and she preceded him in death, Jan. 4, 2003.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Garth (Lynda) Beatty of Findlay; four sons, Patrick M. of North Canton, Dale R. of Prospect, Ky., Dennis A. of Bloomfield Hills, Mich. and Scott O. Lima; 11 grandchildren; two step- grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three step-sons, Robert Detrick of DeGraff, Wilbur Detrick of Bellefontaine and James Detrick of Columbus and a brother, Dean Linet of DeGraff.
He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
Mr. Linet was a farmer and worked as a journeyman machinist. He was also a contractor and had been acting Postmaster of DeGraff. He reitred in 1979 as a foreman with Ford Motor Company in Lima. He had also been a teacher at Apollo Joint Vocational School for several years and worked as a handyman and courier for Medi Lab in Lima after he retired.
He was a member of Boggs Lodge 292 Free and Accepted Mason in DeGraff, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, past patron of the former Constance Chapter 78 of Eastern Star, DeGraff where he was a 50-year member. He was also a member of the BPOE 54 of Lima, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370 in Lima and Ford MEL 3-5-7 Club in Lima. He was a 1936 graduate of DeGraff High School.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home in DeGraff, with the Rev. Terry Washburn officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Union cemetery in DeGraff.
Calling hours will be Monday from 6-9 p.m. at the Chiles & Son-Laman Chapel of Memories and again on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home. Masonic Services will be Tuesday at 8 p.m.

Alfred J. Monnin

VERSAILLES - Alfred J. Monnin, 89, 10539 State Route 185, Versailles, died Saturday, March 15, 2003 at 11:10 p.m. at Wayne Hospital Emergency Room.
He was born Feb. 15, 1914, in Sidney, the son of the late Joseph J. and Emma Catherine (Gariety) Monnin.
On Aug. 22, 1933, he married
Lucille Barton, who survives.
He is also survived by two daughters, Mrs. Albert (Theresa) Hartzell of Ansonia and Linda Cossa of Hawaii; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 10 great great- grandchildren; three sisters, Laurene Drees of Versailles, Lavina Bulcher of Wisconsin and Mrs. Roman (MaryEdna) Leckliter and a brother, Hermit Monnin of St. Marys.
He was preceded in death by a son.
Mr. Monnin owned and operated Al's Body Shop for over 50 years. He was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles. He enjoyed fishing and fixing bicycles and lawnmowers from his home shop.
