TROY - Gladys Marie Smith, 85, of Troy, died Saturday, March 15, 2003, at 8:40 p.m. at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy, following a short illness.
She was born July 7, 1917, in Shelby County, the daughter of the late Albert M. and Della (Ely) Emerich.
She was married
to Herbert C. Smith, who died in 1982.
She is survived by a cousin, Ron Ely of Shelby County; three step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews in the Southwest.
She was preceded in death by a stillborn son, a step-daughter and two brothers.
Mrs. Smith was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ in Troy. She was a member of Troy Senior Citizens and Funtimers and Grandmothers Club 369. She was a 1935 graduate of Lena High School.
The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Baird Funeral Home in Troy, with the Rev. Lisa Wolfe officiating. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery in Troy.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Baird Funeral Home.

Keith G. Sutton
Died: Saturday, March 15, 2003
Age: 55
BELLEFONTAINE - Keith G. Sutton, 55, of Bellefontaine died Saturday, March 15, 2003 at Mary Rutan Hospital.
He was born Aug. 20, 1947 in Sidney, the son of Ralph G. and Frances L. (Bell) Sutton.
He married
Diane L. Simpkins, June 12, 1999 in Lewistown and she survives with a son, Brian Sutton of Tipp City; a daughter, Cheri Sutton of Bellefontaine; one grandchild; his parents of Bellefontaine; and a sister, Mrs. George (Karen) Verner of Hudson.
He is also survived by seven step-children and seven step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his previous wife, Peggy LeVan.
Mr. Sutton was a State Highway Patrol trooper in Xenia for 10 years and retired in 2002 from the Logan County Sheriff's Department where he had been project manager for the Logan County Jail and a lieutenant in charge of jail operations. He had also been employed by the Ohio Department of Transportation in Bellefontaine.
He was an accident reconstructionist and commandant for the Corrections Academy and the Basic Police Academy.
He was a member of Lewistown Trinity United Methodist Church were he was a Sunday school teacher and trustee chairman. He was a member of the Greater Sidney Emmaus Community, Bellefontaine Elks Lodge, and American Legion Post 173, Bellefontaine. He was head of the honor guard for the Police Memorial held each May at the Logan County Courthouse.
Services were conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church by Pastor Barry Braughman. Burial was in Bellefontaine cemetery with military rites by the Logan County Sheriff's Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lewistown Trinity United Methodist Church, United Christian Service Food Pantry or the Lighthouse Outreach Emergency Shelter.
Vera M. Baker
Died: Friday, March 14, 2003
Age: 75
PIQUA - Vera M. "Bidie" (Grubbs) Baker, 75, of Piqua, a retired employee of Copeland Corp., died Friday, March 14, 2003 at 6:55 a.m. at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy.
She was born June 21, 1927, in Alcorn, Miss., the daughter of Marion H. and Nora (Jones) Grubbs.
On Aug. 7, 1946, she married
Marion H. Grimes, who died in 1963. On Nov. 21, 1964, she married
Ora K. Baker, who died in 1977.
She is survived by three stepchildren; two nieces that she raised, Cathy Meyer of Piqua and Sonya Blankenship of Sidney; three great-nieces and great-nephews; a brother, Marion H. Grubbs Jr. of Tennessee; and three sisters, Louise Savell of Florida, Edith Shawler and Shirley Sholly, both of Piqua.
A brother and four sisters preceded her in death.
Mrs. Baker retired from Copeland after 13 years.
Services are planned for Monday at 1 p.m. at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home in Piqua, with the Rev. Alexander Foster Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Beechwood cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Donald F. Fosnight
Died: Sunday, January 19, 2003
Age: 81
Donald F. Fosnight, 81, 3003 W. Cisco Road, died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003 at 5:56 a.m. at Wilson Memorial Hospital.
He was born Sept. 30, 1921 in Miami County to Albert and Elnora (Beaver) Fosnight.
In May of 1949, he married
Georganna Weghorst. After her death, he married
Laura Ryder.
Mr. Fosnight is survived by two step-sons, Dr. George Weghorst of Portland, Ore. and John Ryder of Toledo; three sisters, Mrs. Harold (Ruth) Koch of Sidney, Mrs. Jack (Myrtle) Nichols of Jackson Center and Mrs. Walter (Josephine) Fogt of Sidney; two sisters and several step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and two sisters.
Mr. Fosnight retired as a welder at Sidney Grain Machine Co.
He served in the Army during World War II and was a member of Sidney American Legion Post 217.
Funeral services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Dorothy Love Chapel, with Dr. Fred B. Lacuesta officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Point cemetery, Pasco. Calling hours will be Friday from 9-10:30 a.m. at Dorothy Love Retirement Community.
Mary L. Fuller
Died: Sunday, January 19, 2003
Age: 92
Mary L. Fuller, 92, 510 Buckeye Ave., died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003, at 2:50 p.m. in Sidney Care Center.
Born Sept. 12, 1910, in Nashville, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Edward F. and Ella Bruce Tidwell.
In 1944 she married
Milo Fuller. He died in 1967.
She is survived by one son, William M. Fuller of Anna.
Three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
Mrs. Fuller was a homemaker.
Graveside services will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. in the Pearl cemetery in Swanders, Ohio, with the Rev. Michael Althauser officiating. There are no calling hours.
The Cromes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Elsie B. Holland

Elsie B. Holland, 82, 8730 State Route 47 West, died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003 at 12:30 a.m. at her home.
She was born Jan. 20, 1920 in Chester, Pa. to John and Mabel (Townsend) Buffington.
On Dec. 29, 1940, she married
John W. Holland.
Mrs. Holland is survived by her husband; two sons, John W. Holland Jr. of Climax, N.C. and R. Michael Holland of Franklin, Tenn.; a sister, Mrs. Peter (Jean) Ross of Claymont, Del.; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
Mrs. Holland was a homemaker.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Cromes Funeral Home, with Pastor John Leighty officiating. Burial will be at Shelby Memory Gardens.
Calling hours will be Friday from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Lola M. Amrine
Died: Saturday, January 18, 2003
Age: 57
Lola M. Amrine, 57, 510 Buckeye St., died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003 at 10:25 a.m. in the Sidney Care Center.
Born April 17, 1945, in Chicago, she was the son of the late William and Carol Stanley.
Survivors include one son, Homer Amrine of Sidney; one daughter, Sherry Amrine of Columbus; one sister, Christine Stanley of Tucson, Ariz., and five grandchildren.
One brother preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker.
Private funeral services will be held in the World Mission Church of Christ in Sidney. There will be no calling hours.
The Adams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Caryll K. Anderson
Died: Saturday, January 18, 2003
Age: 66
ANNA - Caryll K. Anderson, 66, 104 E. South St., Anna, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003 at 12:35 a.m. at Wilson Memorial Hospital.
She was born Oct. 8, 1936 in Casstown to Arthur L. and Alice (Riley) Knoop.
On Sept. 15, 1956, she married
Robert S. Anderson.
Mrs. Anderson is survived by her husband; her father, of Troy; two daughters, Julia A. Isely of Madison, Wisc. and Amy L. Anderson of Columbus; a son, Daniel S. Anderson of Lincroft, N.J.; a brother, Jeffrey L. Knoop of Cincinnati; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
Mrs. Anderson retired in 1998 after 30 years as clerk-treasurer for the village of Anna.
She was a member of Anna United Methodist Church, and an active member of the church council. She was also a member of the Anna Endowment Fund board.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Anna United Methodist Church, with the Rev. John Schlicher officiating. Burial will be in Pearl cemetery in Swanders.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at Cromes Funeral Home.

Hilda E. Nerderman

Age: 89
NEW BREMEN - Hilda E. Nerderman, 89, 20 Elk Dr., New Bremen, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at 7:10 p.m. at Joint Township Hospital in St. Marys.
She was born June, 6, 1913, in St. Sebastian, the daughter of Frank and Laura (Steinke) Meyer.
On Aug. 24, 1940, she married
Julius J. Nerderman in North Star, and he died in 1994.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Marjorie) Lefeld of St. Henry, Mrs. Tom (Alice) Tumbusch of Coldwater and Doris Nerderman of New Bremen; four sons, Fred of Sidney, Richard of New Bremen, Ralph of St. Marys and Jerry of New Bremen; 25 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Norma Barga of Russia, Frances Wenning of Centerville, Mrs. Robert (Rita) Buschur of New Weston and Joann Bensman of North Star and a brother Paul Meyer of Dallas, Texas.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, two sisters and two brothers.
Mrs. Nerderman was a homemaker. She was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in New Bremen, where she was among the original parish members and was a member of the Ladies sodality.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, with Rev. Jack Kroeger officiating. Burial will be in St. Louis cemetery in North Star.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. at Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Minster, and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the service at the church.
