FORT LORAMIE - Elizabeth "Betty" Aselage, 72, of Park Street, died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002 at 12:03 a.m. at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital. She had been seriously ill since April.
She was born Nov. 22, 1929 in McCartyville, the daughter of Anton and Elizabeth (Bertke) Poeppelman.
She married
Bernand "Ben" Aselage Aug. 27, 1949 at Holy Angels Church, Sidney and he survives.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Patrick (Shirley) Elsass of Botkins; two grandsons; and brothers and sisters, Roman Poeppelman of Wapakoneta, Cletus Poeppelman of Sidney, Margaret Severt of Englewood, Mrs. Herman (Eileen) Dietz of St. Marys, Georgia Poeppelman of Dayton, Hilda Poeppelman of Sidney and Charles Kohnen of Versailles.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, three brothers and three sisters.
Mrs. Aselage was a homemaker and previously worked for G &W; Tool and Die in Fort Loramie. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, its St. Ann's Sodality and Fort Loramie American Legion Post 355 Auxiliary. She was a 1947 graduate of Holy Angels High School.
Services will be conducted Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church by Rev. Steven Shoup. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9 to 10 a.m. at Gehret Funeral Home, Fort Loramie.

Katheryn Coyle
Died: Tuesday, November 5, 2002
Age: 69
DEGRAFF - Katheryn Coyle, 69, of DeGraff, died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002, at 11:52 a.m. in the Wellington Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Urbana.
She was born Feb. 3, 1933, in Jackson County, Ky. to Harvey and Mary (Isaacs) Flanery.
On June 30, 1950, she married
William A. Coyle of DeGraff.
Mrs. Coyle is survived by her husband; two sons, Gary Coyle of Sidney and Barry Coyle of DeGraff; two daughters, Mrs. Albert (Patricia) Stapleton of Rosewood and Mrs. Stan (Debbie) McCombs of Conover; a brother, Paul Barker of Richmond, Ky.; three step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons and a sister.
Mrs. Coyle formerly worked for Crown Hill Industries in Urbana.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Richeson-Wickham and Atkins Funeral Home in St. Paris, with Pastor Jim Fannin officiating. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery in Conover.
Calling hours will be Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Johnnie E. Proffitt
Died: Tuesday, November 5, 2002
Age: 50
Johnnie E. Proffitt, 50, 332 Michigan St., died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002 at 11:50 a.m. at the Sidney Care Center.
He was born in Bluefield, W. Va., July 5, 1952, the son of the late James F. and Frances (Swarder) Proffitt of Piqua.
He married
Teresa L. Teets June 13, 1979 in Troy and she survives along with three sons, Chris, Anthony and Jamie Proffitt, all of Sidney; two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Michelle) McCullough and Mrs. Bill (Lisa) Freitas, both of Sidney; and nine grandchildren.
He is also survived by two sisters, Mary Proffitt of Piqua and Brenda Williams of Troy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two grandchildren.
Mr. Proffitt was a member of the Troy Apostolic Church.
Services will be conducted Friday at 10 a.m. in the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home, Piqua, by Rev. Richard Workman. Burial will be in Forest Hill cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Shirley Ann Smith

Age: 68
Shirley Ann Smith, 68, of Sidney, died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002, in Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
She was born Oct. 1, 1934, in Lockington to John Wesley and Gladys E. (Ritter) Holly.
On Feb. 28, 1992, she married
Harden Smith.
Mrs. Smith is survived by four daughters, Terri Lynn of Virginia, Mrs. Hugh (Kim) Schweitzer of Anna, Pam Lynn of Seattle, and Mrs. Glen (Jenny) Hill of Mississippi; and two sons, Ricardo Lynn of Maryland and Mike Lynn of Colorado.
She is also survived by five sisters, Joan Francis of Sidney, Mary Lovett of Carolina Beach, Fla., Helen Omlor of Baltimore, Md., Katherine Gilmour of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Mrs. Jim (Jean) Barlow of Andrews, N.C.; three brothers, Joseph Holly of Sidney, Harold Holly of London and Vincent Holly of Sacramento, Calif.; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother.
Mrs. Smith retired from Ross Aluminum after 25 years of service.
She was a member of Union Baptist Church in Piqua.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Union Baptist Church in Piqua, with Pastor David Mix officiating. Burial will be in Fletcher cemetery.
Calling hours will be Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Suber Funeral Home in Fletcher.

Herbert M. Weaver
Died: Tuesday, November 5, 2002
Age: 89
LADY LAKE, Fla. - Former Pemberton area resident Herbert M. Weaver, 89, of Lady Lake, Fla. died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002.
He was born Dec. 27, 1912, in Missouri, the son of John and Alice Weaver.
On Dec. 16, 1939, he married
Ruth Koons, who preceded him in death.
He is survived by two daughters, Sharon Khalid of Watsonville, Calif., and Joyce Hawkins of Gaylord, Mich., and two sons in Sidney, Gary Weaver and Steve Weaver.
Mr. Weaver had worked for Monarch Machine Tool Co. for nearly 40 years. He was a former member of Pasco United Methodist Church.
The body was cremated.
Henry Burt

Eva M. Compton
Died: Wednesday, January 29, 2003
Age: 79
Eva M. Compton, 79, Pasco-Montra Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, at 6:25 a.m. at Fair Haven Shelby County Home, where she had resided since August, 2002.
She was born Oct. 15, 1923, in Washington County, Va., the daughter of Charles Buchanan who preceded her in death.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. J.W. (Rachel) O'Quinn of Sidney; two sons, David Goff of West Minster and Norman Goff of Goshen, Ind.; a step-son, Paul Compton of Sidney; six grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; a sister Rachel Warren of Webber City, Va. and a brother, Everett Buchanan of Adingdon, Va.
She was preceded in death by a step-son, three sisters and four brothers.
Mrs. Compton had been employed at Copeland Corp. For several years.
The funeral will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Cromes Funeral Home with Rev. Leamon Branscum officiating. Burial will be in Glen cemetery in Port Jefferson.
Calling hours will be Friday from 4-8 p.m. at Cromes Funeral Home.

Regis A. Rousseau
Died: Monday, December 2, 2002
Age: 91
Regis A. Rousseau, 91, of Fair Haven Shelby County Home, formerly of 1021 Riverbend Blvd., died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at 12:24 a.m. in his residence.
Born Jan. 31, 1911, in Russia, he was the son of the late Leo and Alice Millet Rousseau.
On Aug. 10, 1936, he married
Alvina Margaret Groff. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Marcia Ann) Spoltman of Sidney and Mrs. Gary (Sharon K.) Hilgefort of Sidney. Also surviving are six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Three sisters, one brother and two half brothers are deceased.
Mr. Rousseau was a member of the Sidney Knights of Columbus and also a Grand Knight with that group. He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church where he was an usher.
Until his retirement in 1973, he worked as a millwright salesman at McClain's Inc. in Greenville.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Angels Catholic Church with the Rev. Earl Fernandes celebrating the Mass. Burial will be at Graceland cemetery in Sidney. Friends may call at the Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home on Wednesday from 8:30 to 10 a.m.

Carolyn AlDena Cook
Died: Sunday, December 1, 2002
Age: 71
Carolyn AlDena Cook, 71, 327 N. Walnut Ave., died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at 5:03 a.m. at Wilson Memorial Hospital.
She was born Dec. 18, 1930, in Piqua, the daughter of Stanley Staley and Dolly (Wilkinson) Staley.
On June 25, 1950, she married
Gerald E. Cook, who survives.
Other survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Lewis (Dolly) Ivey Jr. and Mrs. Kevin (Dixy) Carey, both of Sidney; two sons, Glenn Scott Cook and Gerald Steven Cook, both of Sidney; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ronald Staley of Goresville, Ill.
Mrs. Cook was a homemaker. She attended Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall, Sidney.
A memorial service were held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall, with James Wolfe officiating.
Cromes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. No calling hours are planned.

Belva M. Boroff

Age: 84
PIQUA - Belva M. Boroff, 84, 719 Blaine Ave., mother of James Loramie of Sidney, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at 10:13 a.m. at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy.
She was born Oct. 2, 1918, in Miami County, the daughter of Joseph O. and Etta Pearl (Gillis) Cotrell.
She was married
to James Loraine, who preceded her in death.
She was married
to John Anderson, who preceded her in death in 1962.
On Nov. 9, 1963, she married
Albert E. Boroff. He died Dec. 2, 1973.
She is survived to two sons, two daughters, 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and a sister.
A daughter, three grandchildren, a great-grandchild, four brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
Mrs. Boroff was a homemaker.
Services are set for Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home in Piqua, with the Rev. Roger L. Toon officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill cemetery, Piqua.
