FORT LORAMIE - Thomas Lee Gudorf, 57, 6102 Cisco Road, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2003, at Valley Nursing Home in St. Marys.
He was born May 11, 1946, in Minster, the son of the late Vernon and Alvira (Dues) Gudorf.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah F. (Eidemiller) Gudorf, whom he married
Oct. 28, 1968; two daughters, Mrs. Kyle (Virginia) Slade of Russia and Elizabeth Gudorf of Trotwood; a son, Vernon W. Gudorf at home; five grandchildren; a brother, Vernon J. Gudorf of Indiana; and a sister, Mrs. Robert (Mary) Eagle of Columbus.
One brother and one sister preceded him in death.
Mr. Gudorf was employed as a molder at Minster Machine Inc. in Minster for 34 years. He was a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association for 15 years.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Cromes Funeral Home, with the Rev. Kenneth Ellis officiating. Burial will be at Shelby Memory Gardens.

Lawrence V. Bertke
Died: Sunday, June 08, 2003
Age: 90
Lawrence V. "Curly" Bertke, 90, formerly of 9020 Mason Road, died Sunday, June 8, 2003, at 415 a.m. at Heritage Manor Nursing Center in Minster. He had resided there 14 months.
He was born July 4, 1912, in Carthagena, the son of Joseph and Catherine (Lehmann) Bertke.
On Oct. 18, 1941, he married
Marcella Frilling in Fort Loramie. She died July 9, 1998.
He is survived by eight children and their spouses, Elfrieda and Bernard Sanders of Fort Loramie; Jerry and Jane Bertke of St. Marys; Don and Rosemary Bertke of Anna; Elaine and James Moorman of Chickasaw; Irene and John Huntzinger of Piqua; Roger and Susan Bertke and Lavern Bertke, all of Fort Loramie; and Dale and Lois Bertke of Anna; 24 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Loretta Link of Montezuma.
Two brothers, three sisters and two grandchildren preceded him in death.
Mr. Bertke was retired from Avco New Idea of Coldwater and from farming. He attended St. Michael Catholic Church in Fort Loramie and was a member of St. Joseph Men's Society and Apostleship of Prayer of the church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael Thursday, June 12, 2003, at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Steven Shoup officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael's cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m. at Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Minster.
Memorials may be made to Wilson Hospice Care and Fort Loramie Rescue Squad.

Robert L. Overcash

Age: 79
TROY - Robert L. Overcash, 79, of Troy, died Thursday, June 12, 2003 at Caldwell House, Troy.
He was born April 30, 1924, in Troy to the late John and Emma (Grant) Overcash. He married
Phyllis J. (Kessler) and she preceded him in death Oct. 3, 1988.
Survivors include sons Steven Overcash of Dayton, Daniel and Shirley Overcash of Troy and Terry Overcash of London; daughters, Connie and Roger Malone of Piqua and Kathy Overcash of Dayton; sisters Nellie Boze of Piqua and Eileen Hutchinson of Troy; brothers Theodore Overcash of Troy and Harold Overcash of Christiansburg; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, son, Thomas Overcash, and one sister, Betty, and one brother, Donald.
He was a member of Brush Creek Church of God, Tipp City and retired from General Motors Co., Inland Division, Vandalia. He was an Army veteran, serving in World War II.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, at Baird Funeral Home, with Pastor Cliff Christman officiating. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery, Troy. VFW Honor Guard services will be held at the graveside.

Lucia Jean Stewart

Age: 62
TROY - Lucia Jean "Jeanie" Stewart, 62, of 323 Lincoln Ave., died Thursday, June 12, 2003, at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy.
She was born July 2, 1940, in Sidney to the late Lawrence C. and Dorothy (Olden) Freeling.
Survivors include a son, Kevin Freeling of Atlanta, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law, DeWayne "Dewey" and Lisa Williams of Troy; daughter, Kathleen Williams of Oceanside, Calif.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Lawrence S. Freeling of Piqua, Robert Freeling of Piqua and William LeRoy of Troy; and sister, Frances "Bambi" Freeling of Troy. One grandchild preceded her in death.
She was a 1958 graduate of Sidney High School. She retired on July 12, 2002 from Copeland Corp. in Sidney after 34 years and nine months of service.
Funeral services will be held at noon, Monday, June 16, at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy, officiated by Pastor Ted Willis. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery, Troy.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. to noon Monday, one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.

Dorothy A. Davis

Age: 82
Dorothy A. Davis 82 of Clearwater, and formerly of Holiday Fla., died Wednesday June 11, 2003, at 9:21 p.m. at Mease Dunedin Hospital.
She was born Dec.15, 1920, in Sidney, the daughter of Joseph F. Kerber and Dorthy Marie Troester) Kerber, who are deceased.
She is survived by two sons, Stephen L. Davis of Dunedin, Fla and Michael Davis of Malford, Ohio; two brothers Joseph Kerber of Indianapolis, Ind., and Louis Kerber of Sidney; one sister Rosemarie Market of Sidney; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Catholic Church.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 3 p.m. at the Preferred Funeral Alternatives, 2508 U.S. Highway 19, Holiday, Fla., with the Rev. William Nicolaro officiating.

Henrietta Catherine Martin

Henrietta Catherine Martin, 89, 4129 Children's Home Road, died Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at 9 p.m. in Fair Haven Shelby County Home.
Born Feb. 13, 1914, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Clara Monnin Couchot.
On Oct. 14, 1933, she married
Virgil Martin. He died in 1993.
Survivors include four children, Jane Martin of Highland Heights, Richard Martin and his wife, Suzie, of Sidney, Lee Martin and his wife, Linda, of Sidney, and David Martin and his wife, Cindy, of Columbus; 13 grandchildren, Eric Sala, Laura Collins, Michael Sala, Carla Schulze, Adair Sala, Patrick Martin, Kevin Martin, Natalie Raffin, Tom Martin, John Martin, Matthew Martin, Milli Martin and Erin Martin and 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Also surviving are three brothers, Robert Couchot of Melbourne, Fla., Frebert Couchot of Piqua and Norris Couchot of Indianapolis, Ind.
Three sisters and six brothers are deceased.
Mrs. Martin was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and the Rosary Altar Society of the church.
She was a member of the Sewing, Stitchery and Embroidery Club and the Homemaker's Club.
She was a volunteer at FISH for more than 25 years.
She had been a cook at Orange Township School.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Catholic Church, with Rev. Earl Fernandes celebrating the Mass. Burial will be at Cedar Point cemetery in Pasco.
Friends may call at the Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home today from 5 to 8 p.m.

Urban R. Thaman

Age: 73
MINSTER - Urban R. Thaman, 73, of Ohio 362, died Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at 6:30 p.m. in Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys, of natural causes.
Born Dec. 13, 1929, in Anna, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary Berning Thaman.
On May 3, 1952, in Holy Angels Catholic Church, he married
the former Marilyn J. Thaman. She survives.
Other survivors include one son, M. Randall Thaman of Cincinnati; one daughter, Mrs. James (Angela Waneen) Post of Celina; four grandsons, Kyle Robert Jacob and Stuart Randall Thaman, both of Cincinnati, and Taylor "TJ" Post and Blake Ryan Post of Celina and five brothers and their spouses, Arthur and Luedna Thaman of New Bremen, Frank and Jeannette Thaman of Sidney, Lawrence and Vera Thaman of Botkins, Ralph and Mary Ann Thaman of McCartyville and Leo and Barbara Thaman of Tucson, Ariz.
Along with is parents, one brother, Paul Thaman, preceded him in death.
Mr. Thaman served with the U.S. Coast Guard and received a medical/honorable discharge on March 29, 1951. He was a member of Sidney American Legion Post 217.
He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Fort Loramie.
He was a member of the Lake Loramie Improvement Association.
In 1995, he retired from Sprint in Lima, where he had been employed as the fleet maintenance superintendent. He was previously employed by Wagner Smith, Dayton, and Sidney Truck and Storage.
He was an avid reader and he enjoyed gardening, fishing and especially his grandchildren.
Services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Michael Catholic Church in Fort Loramie, with the Rev. Steven Shoup officiating. Burial will be in Pearl cemetery in Sidney.
Friends may call at the Gehret Funeral Home, Ohio 362 (Elm Street), Fort Loramie, on Sunday from 3 to 8 p.m. and on Monday from 9 to 10 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael's Catholic Church building fund or the Earl's Island Pavilion Fund.
George Gerstner

Age: 67
WAPAKONETA - George Gerstner, 67, of Defiance Commons, died Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at 6:28 p.m. in Lima Memorial Hospital.
Born July 28, 1935, in Glynwood, he was the son of the late Augustus and Margaret Cogan Gerstner.
His wife, Betty J. Martin, preceded him in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Gerstner and Mrs. Brett (Ginny) Place, both of Wapakoneta; a son, Mark Gerstner of Los Angeles, Calif.; three stepdaughters, Karen Pack, Mrs. Donald (Joyce) Sheipline and Mrs. Pat (Jean) Schneider, all of Wapakoneta; three stepsons, Robert Martin and John U. Martin Jr. and his wife, Becky, all of Wapakoneta, and Victor Martin of Oklahoma; one sister, Mrs. Merle (Agnes) Fisher of Wapakoneta; one brother, Bill Gerstner of Wapakoneta, 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Gerstner was a member of the St. John Catholic Church in Fryburg.
He was a retired truck driver and stone hauler.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 691 and American Legion Post 330, both in Wapakoneta.
He attended Botkins School.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 1 p.m. in St. John Catholic Church, with Rev. Oscar Seger officiating. Burial will be in St. John cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Bayliff and Eley Funeral Home, Ohio 501.
