DEFIANCE - Mark D. Teets, M.D. age 52 died 8:42 p.m., Friday, May 30, 2003, at the Paulding County Hospital Paulding.
He was born on April 19, 1952, in Uniontown, Penn., the son of Edgar R. and Goldie M. (Burkholder) Teets. On June 16, 1973 he married
Sally Sue Wiesenmayer of Defiance, who survives.
He was a 1973 graduate of the University of Cincinnati. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1978. He practiced at Saginaw Cooperative Hospital of Family Practice Residency Saginaw, Mich., from 1978 to 1981, Spencerville Family Physicians of Spencerville from 1981 to 1991. He went into private practice as Mark D. Teets M.D. Inc. from 1991 to 2000 and practiced at Oakwood Medical Center, Oakwood, from 2000 to 2003. Dr. Teets was a Fellow of Academy of Family Practice. His past affiliations include: Lima Memorial Hospital and St. Rita's Medical Center both of Lima, Wilson Memorial Hospital of Sidney and Upper Valley Medical Center of Troy. Dr. Teets was the chief of staff at Paulding County Hospital from 2002 to 2003, the director of occupational health at the Paulding County Hospital. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Sidney.
Survivors include his parents Edgar and Goldie Teets of Sidney; two sons, Aaron Douglas Teets of Chandler, Ariz. and Nathan Ryan Teets of Indianapolis; one daughter, Erica Elaine Teets of Columbus; two brothers, Edgar B. Teets of Okeana and Benjamin R. Teets of Sidney, Ohio.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 4, 2003 at the First Presbyterian Church of Paulding, Ohio. The Revs. David Meriwether and Joseph Pumphrey will officiate. Burial will at Cedar Point cemetery, Pasco. Calling hours are at the DenHerder Funeral Home Paulding, today from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.. There will be calling at the church on Wednesday morning 1 hour prior to services from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m..

Paul A. Sluiter

Age: 77
TROY - Paul A. Sluiter, 77, of Troy, formerly of Jakarta, Indonesia, died at 9:30 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2003, at his residence.
Mr. Sluiter was born Aug. 23, 1925 in Jakarta.
Mr. Sluiter is survived by his wife of 49 years, Irene N. Hemmes; two children, daughter and son-in-law, Francis and Clifford Shefbuch of Piqua, son and daughter-in-law, Hemmo and Debbie Sluiter of Troy; grandchildren, Travis and spouse Ashley Shefbuch of Urbana, Ryan Shefbuch of Piqua and Kari Shefbuch of Piqua.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Sluiter, and his mother, Pauline Fraeyhoven.
He was retired from Hobart Manufacturing in 1991 as an instructor in sales. He was a Past Worshipful Master with Franklin Lodge No. 14 F&AM; 1976 and 1996; Ancient Order of Scottish Rite; York Rite (Chapter Council & Commandary); Antioch Shrine Temple and Miami County Shrine Club. He was a volunteer with Stouder Hospital and Upper Valley Medical Center for 2, 000 hours plus. He is served in the Dutch Military.
A funeral will be held at the convenience of the family. A Masonic service will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2003.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Baird Funeral Home in Troy. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and Hospice of Miami County.

NEW KNOXVILLE - Leonard Clausing, 95, formerly of New Knoxville, a resident of Fairhaven Home of Upper Sandusky, died Friday, May 30, 2003, at 11:57 a.m. at Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Upper Sandusky.

Betty L. Clawson
Died: Friday, May 30, 2003
Age: 71
TROY - Betty L. Clawson, 71, of Troy, died at 12:45 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2003 at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy.
She was born Dec. 14, 1931 in Fairmont, W.Va. to the late John D. Lease and Berndetta (Black) Lease, of Piqua, who survives. She married
James Clawson, who preceded her in death in 1992.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, David and Donna Clawson of Piqua; brother, James Lease of Troy; sisters Gloria Kindrick of Troy and Sandy Geiger of Piqua; one grandson, Jamey Clawson of Piqua.
She was preceded in death by one son, Donald.
A funeral sevice will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 2, 2003 at Baird Funeral Home in Troy. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery in Troy.

Kenneth Chuck Walter II

Age: 53
Kenneth Chuck "Shorty" Walter II, 53, of Sidney, died Friday, May 30, 2003, at 4:20 a.m. at Wilson Memorial Hospital.
He was born Oct. 5, 1949, in Bellefontaine, the son of Kenneth C. Walter, who died Sept. 6, 2000, and Charlet B. Smith Walter, who died Aug. 15, 1987.
On March 23, 1979, he married
to Barbara P. Crosley Walter, who survives.
Other survivors are two daughters, Holly Walter and Amber Walter, both of Sidney; three sons and spouses, Dennis C. and Krista Walter of DeGraff and Douglas D. and Becky Walter and Darrin E. and Kelly Walter, both of Jackson Center; 12 grandchildren; three brothers and spouses, William C. Cramer of Ormond Beach, Fla., Joe S. and Barbara Cramer of Russells Point, and Tom E. and Sally Cramer of Bunnell, Fla.; and a sister, Darlene Huffman of Hawaii, as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Walter was a machinist at Prodeva Inc., Jackson Center, for many years and more recently at Con Agra Foods.
Services will be Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at 1 p.m. at Van Horn Funeral Home, Jackson Center, with Pastor Glen L. Freshour officiating. Interment will be at Glen cemetery, Port Jefferson.
Visitation will be Monday, June 2, from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Wilbert John Swiger

Age: 83
Wilbert John "Red" Swiger, 83, died Thursday, May 29, 2003 at his home at Oceanside, Calif. of heart failure.
He was born Aug. 9, 1919, the son of the late Samuel H. and Lovora P. (Snider) Swiger of Anna.
He is survived by one son, John Richard, and two daughters, Rebecca Gallucci and Chris Collins and five grandchildren, all of California.
He is also survived by two brothers, Raymond of Sidney and Cecil of Anna and two sisters, Hannah Taylor and Mary Littlejohn of Sidney.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a son and one brother.
He served with the U.S. Army's 37th Infantry Division in the South Pacific during World War II and received two Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star and a Silver Star.
Military services were conducted Tuesday, June 3, 2003 at 9 a.m. at Rose Hill cemetery in Whittier, Calif.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Heart Association in his honor.
Loretta K. Meyer

Age: 97
MINSTER - Loretta K. Meyer, 97, formerly of 64 E. Fifth St., died Thursday, June 5, 2003, at 3:02 p.m. at Heritage Manor Nursing Center.
She was born Oct. 4, 1905, in Minster, the daughter of Joseph Helmsing and Caroline (Gausepohl) Helmsing.
On Sept. 25, 1928, she married
Alfred C. Meyer in Minster. He died June 13, 1973.
Other survivors are two sons and spouses, Jack and Marilyn Meyer of Rochester, N.Y., and Thomas and Nancy Meyer of Minster; a daughter, Bonnie Frierott of Greenville; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Three brothers, four sisters and a son-in-law, Rolland Frierott, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Meyer was a homemaker. She attended St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine, with the Rev. Louis Schmit officiating. Burial will be in St. Augustine cemetery, Minster.
Friends may call at Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Minster Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m., and Monday from 9 to 9:45 a.m.
Hilda M. Bruggeman
Died: Wednesday, June 04, 2003
Age: 91
COLDWATER - Hilda M. Bruggeman, 91, formerly of Stelzer Road in Maria Stein, more recently a Briarwood resident for 10 years, died Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at 12:32 a.m. in Community Hospital, Coldwater.
Born Aug. 27, 1911, in Wendelin, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Clara Pokamp Brunswick.
On April 11, 1934, in Wendelin, she married
Raymond B. Bruggeman. He died on Feb. 9, 1997.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, Melvin and Betty Bruggeman of McCartyville and Robert and Carol Bruggeman of Coldwater; three daughters and two sons-in-laws, Mary Ellen and Floyd Niekamp of St. Henry, Clara Jean and Fred Hein of Chickasaw and Lilly Mae of Portland, Ind.; one daughter-in-law, Cathy Bruggeman of Indiana; one sister, Laura Franks of Celina, 24 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and 19 step grandchildren.
One son, Dennis Bruggeman; one son-in-law, Ray Mock, two grandchildren, five brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
Mrs. Bruggeman was a member of Saint Aloysius Catholic Church in Carthagena. She was a member of the Saint Monica Rosary Altar Sodality.
Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Francis Catholic Church with the Rev. David Hoying officiating. Burial will be in St. Aloysius cemetery in Carthagena. Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Coldwater from 3 to 8 p.m. on Thursday and at the funeral home from 9 to 10 a.m. on Friday.

Age: 48
A. Bruce Thoma, 48, 332 Grant St., died Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at 7:17 a.m. at Wilson Memorial Hospital following a heart attack.
He was born March 11, 1955 in Sidney, the son of Adolph and Rita (Aselage) Thoma. His father died in 2001.
He is survived by his mother of Sidney and two brothers, Gary and his wife, Jean, of Sidney and John and wife, Joyce, also of Sidney.
He was a 1973 graduate of Sidney High School and a member of the Sidney VFW and Sidney Eagles Lodge.
Mr. Thomas was a plumber and a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, June 5, 2003 at 10 a.m. at Holy Angels Church by the Rev. Gerald Bensman. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery, Sidney.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 5 2003 from 8: 30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at the Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home in Sidney.
Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Angels Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Janice E. Griner

Age: 65
MINSTER - Janice E. Griner, 65, 212 Stallo Road, Minster, died Tuesday, June 3, 2003 at 8:23 a.m. at Joint Township District memorial Hospital.
She was born Nov. 23, 1937 in Fort Loramie, the daughter of the late Clarence "CB" and Henrietta "Hank" (Kaiser) Meyer.
She married
Thomas Griner of Minster May 29, 1957 in Fort Loramie and he survives with two sons, Terence and wife Lisa Griner of Minster and Michael Griner, also of Minster; two daughters, Kathleen M. Mueller and Peggy L. Mueller, both of Minster; and seven grandchildren.
She is also survived by a brother, David and wife Dorothy "Dottie" Meyer of Fort Loramie and a sister-in-law, Marcia Schulze of Fort Loramie.
Mrs. Griner, a homemaker, was a retired bookkeeper. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster and FOE 1391 of Minster.
Services will be conducted Saturday, June 7, 2003 at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine Church by the Rev. Louis Schmit. Burial will be in St. Augustine cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, June 6, 2003 from 2 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Minster.
