Katherine M. Mawhorr, 85, 340 S. Miami Ave., Sidney, Ohio, died at Fair Haven Shelby County Home, Sidney, Ohio on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at 4:30 PM. She was born January 16, 1923 in Botkins, Ohio the daughter of John C. and Mary Nellie (Wiseman) Kinstler and they are deceased. She was married on April 15, 1944 to James L. Mawhorr and he died December 4, 2004. Surviving is one son, Dennis Mawhorr of Sidney, Ohio; four grandchildren, Julie and husband Rich Kremer of St. Joe; Kimberly and husband Fred Thomas of Kettering; Lori and husband Rock Bostick of Kettering and Amanda Fullenkamp of Lima, Ohio; two great-great grandsons and one step-great-granddaughter. Also surviving are two cousins, Bev Gross of Lakeview, Ohio and Larry Mawhorr of Bellefontaine, Ohio. A daughter, Janice Ann Fullenkamp and eight brothers and sisters are deceased. She was a graduate of Botkins High School and was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She had been a cook at Holy Angels High School and Lehman High School for over 30 years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 9, 2008 at 10:30 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Rev. Gerald Bensman. Burial will be at Graceland cemetery, Sidney, Ohio. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home on Thursday, May 8, 2008 from 4-8 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Lehman High School, 2400 St. Mary's Rd., Sidney, Ohio 45365. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.

Beryl Gladys Clayton

Beryl Gladys Clayton, 85, 719 Lynn St., Sidney, Ohio died at Wilson Memorial Hospital on Friday, May 23, 1008 at 10:06 PM. She was born on April 16, 1923 in Oxford, England the daughter of William and Priscilla (Fields) Bayliss and they are deceased. She moved to Shelby County in 1947 from England. She was married on March 16, 1945 to Elmer Vernon Clayton and he died on August 19, 1993. Surviving are two children, Richard and his wife Sue Clayton of Wellsville, Kansas and Judith Elson and husband Paul of Sidney, Ohio; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy "Dot" Heritage of Kidlington, England; Barbara Wright of Oxford, England and Mrs. Ronald (Priscilla) Dean of Oxford, England and three brothers, Donald Bayliss of Oxford, England, Tony Bayliss of Blackmill, Wales, England and Roland Bayliss of Sidney, Ohio. Three brothers, Jack, Alex and Ronald Bayliss are decased. She was a member of the Women's ATS of the British Army. She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal, Sidney, and was on the vestry and church board. She had been employed as a laborer at Copeland Corporation in Sidney for 33 years and retired in 1985. As per Mrs. Clayton's request, the body will be cremated. There are no calling hours or services.

Douglas L. Tuttle

Douglas L. Tuttle, 58, 421 Mission Lane, Franklin, Ohio, died at the nursing home on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at 3:35 AM. He was born August 21, 1959 in Bellefontaine, Ohio the son of Clifford and Viola (Simmons) Tuttle. The father died in 1985 and the mother died in 2007. Mr. Tuttle had lived in Sidney until recently and moved here in 1987 from Bellefontaine, Ohio. Surviving are four children, Michelle Tuttle of Newport, Kentucky, April Tuttle of Russells Point, Ohio, Heather Tuttle of Bellefontaine, Ohio and Dustin Tuttle of Bellefontaine; two grandchildren and one brother, Steven Tuttle of Bellefontaine, Ohio. One sister, Pamela Tuttle is deceased. He was a member of the Sidney Eagles and the Salvation Army Corps. He had worked at Brubakers in Sidney as an auto mechanic. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2008 at 10:00 AM at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home with Major Herb Carter. Burial will be at Cedar Point cemetery, Pasco, Ohio. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home on Friday, June 6, 2008 from 6-8 PM.

Ronnie W. Carnes

Ronnie W. Carnes, 50, Carlton Manor, 726 Rawlings St., Washington Court House, Ohio, died at Mt. Carmel West Hospital, Columbus, Ohio on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at 11:30 PM after a sudden illness. He was born December 5, 1957 in Lima, Ohio the son of Bobby and Jeannie (Shadoan) Rauscher. They are deceased. His mother, Dora Carnes survives in Corbin, Kentucky. Mr. Carnes moved to Sidney in the 1980's. Surviving also are three step-children, Nathan Karn and wife Donna of Sidney; Joy Fitch and husband Scott of Sidney and Aaron Karn of Sidney; one sister, Darla Jones of Sidney, Ohio and one brother, Bobby Carnes Jr. of Grays, Kentucky. One sister, Cathy Gail Carnes Brown is deceased. He had been in the National Guard. He collected watches and enjoyed fishing as as hobbies. He had attended the Sidney Apostolic Church. He had been a car detailer. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 9, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Trinity Church of the Brethren in Sidney with Pastor Brent Driver. Burial will be at Graceland cemetery, Sidney, Ohio. Friends may call at the church from 9:00 AM until the hour of the service at the church. At the family's request, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses. Envelopes will be available at the church or contributions may be sent to the funeral home at 502 S. Ohio Ave., Sidney, Ohio 45365.

Jack F. Waslar

Jack F. Waslar, 49, of Toledo, died on Friday, June 6, 2008, in Sidney. Mr. Waslar was the owner of Marco's Pizza restaurant in Sidney. Local arrangements are being handled by Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Road, Toledo, Ohio 43814. Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home on Monday, June 9, 2008 from 5-8 PM and Tuesday, June 10, 2008 from 2-8 PM with a 7 p.m. Rosary service. Friends will be received beginning at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Historic Church of St. Patrick with funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Resurrection cemetery.

Rosely M. Dearth

Rosely M. Dearth, 88, 413 Apollo Dr., Sidney, Ohio died on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at 2:35 PM at her residence. She was born February 3, 1920 in New York City, New York the daughter of George and Marie (Mollinary) Gagoudy. She graduated from Sidney High School in 1938 and from Miami-Jacobs College, Dayton, Ohio where she was a member of Alpha Sota sorority. On April 1, 1942 she married C. Huffman Dearth and he died June 27, 1997. She is survived by a son C. Jeffrey Dearth, Columbus, Ohio and a son Scott Dearth preceded her in death. Also grandson, Seneca Dearth and granddaughter, Wendy Dearth preceded her in death. She has six grandchildren, Kirby, Karly, and Bradly Dearth and Holly, Meghan and Jeremy Dearth and two great grandsons, Gabrial and Christian Cathcart. Two sisters, Mrs. Paul (Alice) Wick and Jean Dull are both deceased. She held positions in payroll at Wright Field, Dayton, Ohio and ten years at Grant County Bank, Silver City, New Mexico. She was a former member of Eastern Star, Oreasta Club, past president of Charity League, past president of Child Guidance, member of Beta Sota, Ladies of the Moose, and life member of the Elks Lodge. Private graveside services will be held on Friday, June 27, 2008 at Graceland cemetery, Sidney, Ohio with Rev. Chad Inman. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home on Thursday, June 26, 2008 from 4-8 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Senior Independence Hospice, 3009 W. Cisco Rd., Sidney, Ohio 45365, Attention: Ricki Maxwell or the Shelby County Humane Society, 614 N. Miami Ave., Sidney, Ohio 45365. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.

Matilda (Tillie) J. Watkins-Goshorn

Matilda J. (Tillie) Watkins-Goshorn, 77, 103 Parkridge Place, Piqua, Ohio and formerly of Sidney, Ohio died at the Upper Valley Medical Center, Piqua, Ohio on Saturday, June 28, 2008 at 2:30 PM and went to be with her Lord and Savior. She was born May 5, 1931 in Pemberton, Ohio the daughter of Grover C. and Carrie I. (Crawford) Goshorn, now deceased. The Goshorn family lived for many years in Shelby County. Tillie was schooled in Sidney, Ohio and was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Piqua, Ohio. She was a music lover and participated in the High School Glee Club, the Sweet Adelines and the church choir. She also sang solos and was a part of quartet singing. She was employed at the Orr Felt Company in Piqua, Ohio for over twenty-two years in the Burling-Mending Department and trained new burlers. She also served as Recording Secretary of the Local Union ACTWU. Tillie leaves five daughters, Ms. Rebecca (Becky) S. Smithy of Chattanooga, Tennessee; Ms. Elizabeth (Liz) A. Cales of Troy, Ohio; Ms. Barbara L. Smedley; Ms. Carol J. Beffer and Mrs. Jerry (DeAnna K.) Patton all of Sidney and one son, Mr. Kevin A. Watkins. of Cleveland, Tennessee. One son, David L. Watkins is deceased. She has one brother, Elmer L. Goshorn of Hixson, Tennessee and two sisters, Mrs. R. P. Burgess (Lucille) of Harriman, Tennessee and Mrs. Jess (Mary Ellen) Fugate of Sidney, Ohio. Two brothers, James C. Goshorn and Francis M. Goshorn and one sister, Mrs. Robert E. (Anna) Scott Sr. are deceased. There are nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren. Three grandchildren are deceased. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at 10:30 AM at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home with Rev. Lincoln Robinson officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Point cemetery, Pasco, Ohio. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 1, 2008 from 4-8 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Vincince "Joe" Meyer

Vincince "Joe" Meyer, 91, Springmeade Health Center, 4375 South County Rd. 25A, Tipp City, Ohio, formerly of Sidney, Ohio died at the health care center on Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at 4:45 AM. He was born March 8, 1917 in Glandorf, Ohio the son of Sylvester and Anna (Seger) Meyer and they are deceased. He moved to Shelby County in 1952 from New Bremen, Ohio. One June 14, 1939 he married Lucille Mary Hamilton and she survives along with two daughters, Mrs. George (Patricia Ann) Schieling of Troy, Ohio and daughter, Janice Meyer and Steve Idle of Cape Coral, Florida and two grandchildren, Russell Reynolds and Cynthia Reynolds. Four brothers and two sisters are deceased. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Troy, Ohio and had been a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, Sidney, Ohio. He was a member of the Sidney Knights of Columbus. He was the owner of Shelby Hardware, Sidney, Ohio from 1952 to 1978 when he retired. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 7, 2008 at 10:30 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Rev. Jim Duell and Rev. Dan Schmitmeyer con-celebrating. Burial will be at Cedar Point cemetery, Pasco, Ohio. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home on Sunday, July 6, 2008 from 2-8 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Charles R. Doak

Charles R. Doak, 92, 21237 Blank Pike Rd., Wapakoneta, Ohio, formerly of Sidney, Ohio died at his residence on Friday, August 1, 2008 at 1:30 AM. He was born June 7, 1916 in Plattsville, Ohio the son of Ernest and Goldie (McMaster) Doak and they are deceased. In 1948 he married Theodora A. Otting and she died August 16, 1985. He later married Cheryl Bishop and she survives along with two nieces, Rebecca Martin of Piqua, Ohio and Carol Ruese of Minster, Ohio. A half sister, Martha J. Oldiges is deceased. Mr. Doak was a World War II Army veteran of the 36th division. He was a member of the Sidney DAV, VFW, American Legion and AMVETS. He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church. He had worked at Monarch Machine in Sidney for 35 years as a grind operator and retired in 1983. He loved motorcycles and working on lawnmowers. As per his request, his body was donated to the Wright State School of Medicine. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Auglaize County, 15 Willie Lower Pike, Wapakoneta, Ohio 45895.
