Lawrence Puthoff, 81, Fair Haven Shelby County Home, 2901 Fair Rd., Sidney, Ohio died at the nursing home on Thursday, March 8, 2007 at 3:45 PM. He was born July 23, 1925 in St. Patrick's, Ohio the son of Clem and Francis (Siegel) Puthoff. Surviving is one sister, Sally Mason of Piqua, Ohio. Five brothers are deceased, Clarence, Urban, Bernard, Norbert and Wilbur. He enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Fort Loramie, Ohio and a past member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2007 at 10:30 AM at the chapel at Fair Haven Shelby County Home. Rev. Steve Shoup will officiate. Friends may call at the chapel from 9:30 AM until the hour of service. Burial will be at a later date at St. Patrick's cemetery, St. Patricks, Ohio. Leona I. Hendricks, 92, Wapak Manor, 1010 Lincoln Ave., Wapakoneta, Ohio died at the nursing home on Thursday, March 15, 2007 at 8:05 AM. She was born July 26, 1914 in Sidney, Ohio the daughter of Harry and Cora Leona (Vandemark) Ely. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Nancy) Lane of Wapakoneta, Ohio and Kathryn Jane Woodall of Sidney and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Edith E. Fridley and Faye Fogt and one brother, Harry Ely Jr. and three sons, Marion Lee, Robert Ray and Roger William are deceased. She was a retired waitress working at many of the restaurants in Shelby and Auglaize County. She enjoyed playing cards with her son-in-law, enjoyed the grandchildren and the Cincinnati Reds. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home on Monday, March 19, 2007 from 3-6 PM. There are no funeral services planned and the body will be cremated. Juanita Ford

Juanita Ford, 91, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 17, 2007 at the Pavilion nursing home in Sidney, Ohio. She was born October 25, 1915 in Lima, Ohio to Arthur and Nellie Baughman. She lived most of her life in Lima, but in later years she lived in Las Vegas, Nevada, Phoenix Arizona and Sidney, Ohio. She is survived by her four children: Pat (Trisha) Sowards-Ford of Winter Haven, Florida; D. Vincent (Bud) and Marilyn Ford of Sidney, Ohio; Bill and Ruthie Ford of Alamogordo, New Mexico and Sandie Ford of Las Vegas, Nevada as well as twelve grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are bling handled by Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service is being planned at the Woodlawn cemetery, Lima, Ohio with Rev. Ben Hunt officiating. The service is planned for Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at 3:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pavilion Nursing Home, 705 Fulton St., Sidney, Ohio 45365.
Jerome A. (Jerry) Wagner

Jerome A. (Jerry) Wagner Jr., 78, formerly of 640 Russell Rd., Sidney, Ohio died at Deupree Terrace Retirement Center in Cincinnati, Ohio on Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at 1:10 PM. He had been a resident of Douglas, Michigan since 1992. He was born March 18, 1929 in Cincinnati, Ohio the son of Jerome A. Wagner Sr. and Mary Julia (Hummel) Wagner. He attended Holy Angels Grade School, graduated from Campion Jesuit High School, Prairie du Chein, Wisconsin and Xavier University, Cincinnati. On September 9, 1950, he married
Marianne Castellini, who died on February 17, 1999. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert H. Wagner. Surviving are four children, Jerry III and wife Karen of Ida, Michigan; Paul and wife Christine of Cincinnati, Ohio; Steve and wife Cheryl of Sidney, Ohio and Mary Ellen (Wagner) Slover of Cincinnati; grandchildren, Jill Wagner, Julie (Wagner) and husband Brad Cotterman, Chris, Jon, Tony and Colleen Wagner and Jessica Weigand; and one great-grandchild, Cody Carr in addition to numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Wagner was a member of St. Peters Church of Douglas, Michigan and the Knights of Columbus. He was the owner of Wagner Ford Lincoln Mercury from 1953-1971. He joined Bank One, then Citizens Baughman, in 1971. Wagner rose to president by November of 1975 and was also named chief executive officer in January 1976. He retired as CEO and president on January 1, 1990 when he became chairman of the board. Mr. Wagner was a member of the Bunker Hill Preserve near Sidney. He was a former member of the board of directors of the Sidney Chamber of Commerce and served as president in 1965. He was a past board member of the Piqua Country Club. In retirement, Mr. Wagner relocated to Douglas, Michigan where he volunteered his time and experience to SCORE, serving on various committees for St. Peters church and was recently recognized for his work and dedication as a valuable member and asset to the community of Douglas, Michigan. He served as a Charter Commission chairperson, a member of the Village of Douglas Planning Commission, Charter Commission and personally delivered the proposed new city charter to the Governor of Michigan. Mr. Wagner was also a member of the Cow Hill Yacht Club. In Sidney, Mr. Wagner was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and served on the Parish Council and Finance committee. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2007 at 10:30 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church celebrated by Rev. Gerald Bensman and Rev. Jack Beckman SJ. Surviving are eight children, Joe and wife Fran Holthaus of Sidney; Vernon and wife Marcia Holthaus of Maplewood, Ohio; Teresa DeLand and husband Glen of Sidney; Michael and wife Mary Holthaus of Sidney; James and wife Debra Holthaus of Sidney; Barbara Mentges and husband James of Sidney; Clem Jr. and wife Kelly Holthaus of Baltimore, Maryland and David and wife Gloria Holthaus of Sidney; 26 grandchildren and 3 step-grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Fredonia Staley of Sidney and Virginia Burden and husband Richard of Botkins, Ohio; four brothers, Leo Steinke of Sidney; Alvin Steinke of Fryburg; Donald Steinke and wife Martha of Sidney and Eugene Steinke and wife Alice of Wapakoneta; one sister, Delores Schaub is deceased. Martha was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and was in the Altar Rosary Sodality. She had been a cook for the Holy Angels Parish for many years and also cooked at Dorothy Love Retirement Community. Two sisters are deceased, Josephine Doseck and Marie Francis and two brothers are deceased, Paul and Henry Aselage. Mrs. Poeppelman was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church where she was a member of the Sacred Heart Sodality. She was one of the first members of the Schoenstatt Women's League and was in the VFW Auxiliary. She had been a homemaker. Surviving are three children, Duane Studevant and his wife Beverly of Sidney; Sylvia Snook and husband Jack of Clermont, Florida and Vicki Steenrod and husband Randall of Lexington Park, Maryland; 13 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren; three brothers and one great-grandchild are deceased. She was a 1933 graduate of Sidney High School and attended the Western College for Women in Oxford, Ohio. She was a member of the Charity League, Wilson Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Dorothy Love volunteer, FISH voluntter; was a member of the First Prebyterian Church in Sidney where she was a Deacon and a member of the Women's Association. She had worked at Dixie Auto Parts in sidney for many years as a bookkeeper and retired from there. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2007 at 1:30 PM at the Amos Chapel at Dorothy Love Retirement with Chaplain Keith Matthews. Burial will be at Graceland cemetery, Sidney. on April 21, 1946 to Myrle (Swob) Yinger and she died in 1993. Surviving are three children, Nancy Braunm of Sidney, Ohio; Brenda Helman and husband Ted of Sidney, Ohio and Bonnie McMillen and husband Joe of Sidney, Ohio; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harvey and wife Adele Yinger of Lima, Ohio and Floyd and wife Mary Lou Yinger of Sidney, Ohio; two sisters, Hazel Leiss of Sidney, Ohio and Helen Hill of Sidney, Ohio; one brother, Warren Yinger is deceased. He was in the United States Army in World War II serving from February to December, 1943. He was a member of the Sidney American Legion, life member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board and Hardin United Methodist Church in Hardin. He worked for Ross Aluminum for 31 years and retired in 1988. He was an avid toy tractor collector. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at 1:30 PM at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Fenner officiating. He was a 1940 graduate of Troy High School, Troy, Ohio. He was a United States Air Force veteran serving in 1943 in World War II in England. He was a member of the Sidney American Legion and Holy Angels Catholic Church. He had worked for the British Gas Board as a meter technician and retired in 1981. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 15, 2007 at 10:30 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Rev. Gerald Bensman. Burial will be at Graceland cemetery, Sidney, Ohio.
