Rex Dwayne Neth, 45, 518 Wilson Ave., Sidney, Ohio died at St. Rita's Hospital, Lima, Ohio on Monday, August 27, 2007 at 6:47 PM after an extended illness. He was born June 27, 1962 in Sidney, Ohio the son of Franklin and Anna (Woodard) Neth. His father died January 5, 2007. His mother survives in Sidney along with two brothers, Ronald and wife Cheri Neth of Minster, Ohio and Chris and wife Shelli of Sidney, Ohio; three nieces, Samantha Danielle Howe, Nicole Michelle Neth and Sara Ann Neth and two nephews, Daniel James Neth and Adam Christoper Neth and one great nephew, Michael Vincent Howe Jr. He was a 1980 graduate of Sidney High School. He attended the Port Jefferson Church of Christ in Port Jefferson, Ohio. He had worked at Gilardi's, Copeland Corp. and NK Parts all in Sidney at one time. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 31, 2007 at 10:30 AM at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home with Rev. Patrick Kelly and Rev. Craig Martin. Vernon Anthony Luthman

Vernon Anthony Luthman, 87, Willow, Alaska, formerly of Sidney, died at the Creekside Nursing Home in Palmer, Alaska on Thursday, September 6, 2007 at 4:30 AM. He was born August 14, 1920 in Sidney, Ohio the son of Bernard and Amelia (Raterman) Luthman. He moved to Alaska in 1948. Surviving are two brothers, Si and wife Margaret Luthman of Anna, Ohio; Melvin and wife Agnes Luthman of Botkins, Ohio; one sister, Rosalie Hempfling and husband Ralph of Findlay, Ohio and one sister-in-law, Pat Luthman of Sidney; caretaker, Mike Uher of Trapper Creek, Alaska. Three brothers, Vincent, Orville and Merlin Luthman are deceased and a sister, Gloria, is deceased. He was in the United States Army and a member of the Normandy Invasion. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. Luthman took jobs with construction crews hired by oil companies to build an offshore oil terminal and lay hundreds of miles of pipeline. He eventually retired from Valdez Oil Co. after many years. In his spare time, Luthman hiked throught the wilderness communing with nature and looking for an ideal homestead. He eventually found it a year before Alaska gained statehood. Located 100 miles north of Anchorage, the 160-acre property was situated on a lake with a breath-taking view of the Calceelna Mountains. He filed a claim at the land office in Anchorage and agreed to meet the following stipulatons in a five-year period - establish permanent residency there, clear a percentage of the land and plant a crop. He became the first homesteader in what locals call the "Sunshine Area." A path designated as Luthman Trail by the Alaska Trail Committee was created by Luthman after spending years clearing the path leading to a scenic waterfall by hand. Luthman was known as a pioneer in the Alaskan wilderness. Luthman was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sidney and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at 10:30 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Rev. William David Quinn

William David Quinn, 82, Dorothy Love Retirement Community, Sidney, Ohio died at the retirement community on Sunday, September 9, 2007 at 4:25 AM. He was born January 31, 1925 in Sidney, Ohio the son of Damon and Edith (Silver) Quinn. He is survived by one sister, Jane Quinn Hummel of Sidney and a special friend of many years, Patricia Sale of Sidney and also friends Keith and Brenda Bates of Dayton, Ohio. He was a graduate of Sidney High School and the University of Cincinnati where he was in the fraternity, Beta Theta Pi. He was a member of the Shelby County Historical Society. He was a Presbyterian. He was an avid antique dealer and collector and owned alot of real estate at one time. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at 2:00 PM at the Oliver and Peg Amos Chapel at Dorothy Love Retirement Community, Sidney with Rev. Gerald Bensman. Roselyn Ross Price

Roselyn Ross Price, 87, Fair Haven Shelby County Home, Sidney, Ohio died at the nursing home on Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at 2:25 AM. She was born October 5, 1920 in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of William Arthur and Eleanor (Cron) Ross. She was married
October 7, 1944 to Jack Price and he died July 14, 1988. Surviving are four children, John Ross Price of Holly Hill, Florida, Donald J. Price Jr. of Sidney, Ohio, Gordon W. Price of Celina, Ohio and Mary Price of Sidney, Ohio; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. One brother, William Ross Jr. is deceased. She was a 1937 graduate of Sidney High School and studied at Miami University. She was in World War II, Army Air Force, Women's Air Corp. serving her country from 1943-45. She had worked mixing chemicals for a photography laboratory outside of Riverside, California. Later, Mrs. Price was stationed in Washington, D.C. where she worked on preparing maps at the Pentagon. At age 21 and working as a receptionist at Ross Products, the company her father started which is now known as Ross Aluminum, Mrs. Price then decided to enter the service. Her basic training was accomplished at Fort Oglethorpe in Georgia. Fort Oglethorpe got a surprise visitor during her service there. President Franklin D. Roosevelt had come to review the troops and Mrs. Price could see the president clearly. "It was one of the biggest thrills of my life", she said. From Fort Oglethorpe, Mrs. Price went on to be stationed at March Field in California, and Buckley Field and finally at Bolling Field outside Washington, D.C. which was her home base from where she went to work each day at the Pentagon. At the time of her honorable discharge, Mrs. Price had attained the rank of sergeant. She was awarded a Good Conduct Medal, The AAF Technician Badge and the WAC Service Ribbon. Mrs. Price was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church. She was in the Sweet Adelines, Wilson Memorial Auxiliary and FISH. She was a homemaker. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 16, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Rev. Gerald Bensman. Burial will be at Graceland cemetery, Sidney. in 1950 to Victor Marion Phlipot and he died in 1989. Surviving are four children, Catherine Geiger and husband Larry of New Richmond, Ohio; Helen Baer of Lexington, Kentucky; David Phlipot and wife Roswitha of Tubulitz, Germany and Victoria Wolfe and husband Rick of Sidney, Ohio; eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Four brothers are deceased, Carl, Steve, Harold and Francis and also a great-grandchild and a son-in-law. She was a 1949 graduate of Good Samaritan School of Nursing and was a registered nurse. She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and was an avid card player and loved to garden. Elmer Deiser on September 2, 1995 and he survives along with four sisters, Margie Hausfeld, Betty Gaerke, Joan Fischer, Janis Wuebker and one brother, Harold Wuebker. One brother, Wildred Wuebker and one sister, Irene Wuebker are deceased. Surviving are twelve children, Dan and Carole Kerber; Bill and Sharon Kerber; Bob Kerber and Mary Ann Borch; John and Ellen Kerber; Linda and Steve Schmitmeyer; Mancy and Mark Bokermann; George and Muffy Kerber; Mike and Sharon Kerber; Fred and Julie Kerber; Alan and Kim Kerber; Joseph and Patty Kerber and Gary Kerber; 38 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 3 grandchildren are deceased. Dorothy's love of learning was seen in her daily life as well as her many activities. She was a member of the Wilson Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, FISH volunteer, Holy Angels Catholic Church, Altar Rosary Society, and the Senior Center. She was an avid reader and traveler and participated in the international travel programs, Elderhostel and Friendship Force. But her greatest love was her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She visited them often, offering them assistance, encouragement and love, as they built their own lives. She was born April 23, 1940 in Jellico, Tennessee the daughter of Claude and Sarah (Jefferies) Davis and they are deceased. She moved to Sidney in 1963 from Dayton, Ohio. Surviving are one son, Rodney Oelke of Sidney, Ohio; two grandsons, Kevin Oelke of Very Beach, Florida and Dillon Oelke of Sidney, Ohio and two granddaughters, Karen Mills of Sidney and Melissa Bernardino of Sidney and six great-grandchildren, Blake Oelke, Haylee Oelke, Rudy Bernardino, Jamal Bernardino, Gregory Doak and Isiah Bernardion; two sisters, Alane Leach of Baltimore, Maryland and Elizabeth Crabe of LaFollette, Tennessee and two brothers, Sam Davis of Corbin, Kentucky and Robert Davis of Ft. Myers, Florida. Three brothers and three sisters are deceased. She was a 1958 graduate of Williamsburg High School in Williamsburg, Kentucky. She was a volunteer on the Shelby Life Rescue Squad, a member of the Federated Women of Ohio and the Democrat Women. She was a member of the Full Gospel Community Church, Sidney. She was retired from Copeland Corporation in 199 after more than 30 years. She was an electrical mechanical specialist assembler. Her grandson, Dillon, was one of the most special persons in her life. She was a very loving and devoted grandmother and devoted friend. Memorial services will be held on Friday, February 29, 2008 at 1:00 PM at the Full Gospel Community Church, 950 S. Children's Home Rd., Sidney, Ohio with Pastor Charles Jarrett. He was a 1968 graduate of Holy Angels School in Sidney and was in the United States Army. He was a member of Ft.
