GALLAWAY
Ronald E. Gallaway, 81, of Ohio City, died at 5:15 p.m. Monday, February 2, 2004, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.
He was born May 16, 1922, in Van Wert County, the son of the late Lawrence and Elfie (Tindall) Gallaway.
Mr. Gallaway was a lifetime farmer in Van Wert County and owned and operated Gallaway Grain and Gallaway Transport, both of Ohio City.
Survivors include two sons, James (Sue) Gallaway of Convoy and Terry J. (Brenda) Gallaway of Ohio City; a daughter, Mary (Bruce Byer) Gallaway of Ohio City; three sisters-in-law, Flo Gallaway, Claribel Gallaway and Rosemary Gallaway; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Larry Gallaway, who died in infancy, and three brothers, Carl, Glenn and Doyt Gallaway.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 6, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert. Burial will be held at a later date.

MERSCHMAN
Harold "Sonny" Merschman, 70, of Delphos, died at 2:20 p.m. Sunday, February 22, 2004, at his residence.
He was born February 18, 1934, in Cloverdale, the son of the late Harry J. and Caroline Merschman. On August 12, 1954, he married Margaret Berk, who survives in Delphos.
Mr. Merschman retired from Federal-Mogul Corp. in Van Wert and was co-owner of Jim's Restaurant in Delphos. He served in the U.S. Army from February 1951 until September 1957, and was stationed in Korea and Germany as a medic. He was honorably discharged twice from the Army with the rank of sergeant. He is a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3035 in Delphos, the Fort Jennings American Legion post and St. John the Evangelistic Catholic Church in Delphos. He enjoyed travels to Germany and visiting Gatlinburg, Tenn., and remodeling homes with his son, Thomas, but his true love was his wife and family and going camping and fishing at Port Clinton, where he loved showing his grandsons how to catch fish.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five sons, Harold (Nancy) Merschman, Thomas Merschman, Paul (Bonnie) Merschman, David Merschman and Jim Merschman, all of Delphos; a daughter, Barbara (Rick) Burgei of Delphos; five sisters, Mildred (Howard) Pfeiffer of Indiana, Mary Jane (Fred) Elwer of Michigan, Lucy (Hank) Elling and Betty Ann Klaus, both of Delphos, and Carol Jean (Alvis) Hardeman of Lima; two brothers-in-laws, Ludwig, (Gelinda) Berk of Bremerhaven, Germany and Hans (Gessla) Berk of Lauterbach, Germany, and seven grandsons, Nathan and Jonathan Burgei, Brian, Aaron and Andrew Merschman and Jimmy and Michael Sharrits.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Rita Merschman, and one brother-in-law, Robert Klaus.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 26, at St. John the Evangelistic Catholic Church in Delphos, with Father Thomas Gorman officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Fort Jennings.
Calling hours are 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 24, and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, February 25, at Harter & Son Funeral Home in Delphos, where a parish wake service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and a VFW service at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. John's School to help purchase equipment for the wrestling program or The Gerad Cancer Treatment Center or to a charity of donor's choice.
FISCHBACH
David J. Fischbach, 52, of Fort Jennings, died at 2:50 p.m. Tuesday, February 24, 2004, at Richland Manor Nursing Home in Bluffton.
He was born May 30, 1951, in Lima, the son of Alice M. (Lucke) Fischbach and the late Raphael J. Fischbach. He never married.
Mr. Fischbach worked at Holland in Delphos and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fort Jennings.
In addition to his mother, survivors include two sisters, Lynette Grimm of Elida and Cheryl Feathers of Fort Jennings; one brother, Kenneth Fischbach of Fort Jennings, and 10 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Fischbach, and a nephew, Ryan Feathers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 26, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ottoville, with Father Tony Borgia officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Fort Jennings.
Calling hours are 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, February 25, and 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Thursday, February 26, at Harter & Son Funeral Home in Delphos, where a parish wake service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

RUDASILL
Helen L. Rudasill, 79, of Van Wert, died at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, February 24, 2004, at Hearth & Home Assisted Living in Van Wert.
She was born March 27, 1924, in Hicksville, the daughter of the late Claude and Hazel (Everett) Congleton. She married Ervin "Rudy" Rudasill on March 1, 1947 in Hicksville, and he died April 11, 1996.
Mrs. Rudasill was a homemaker and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary in Hicksville and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3035 Auxiliary in Delphos.
Survivors include a son, Lonnie E. (Joanne) Rudasill of Sidney; two sisters, Mildred (Babe) Eagleson of Van Wert and Ruth Stuart of Hicksville; two grandsons, Mark E. Rudasill and Douglas R. Rudasill, both of Lima, and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five brothers.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, February 27, at Harter & Son Memorial Chapel in Delphos, the Rev. Gary Rode officiating.
Calling hours are 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

SHUMAKER
Florence M. Shumaker, 95, of Delphos, died at 5:35 a.m. Thursday, February 19, 2004, at her residence.
She was born December 18, 1908, in Delphos, the daughter of the late Henry and Caroline (Wegesin) Haunhorst. On December 20, 1941, she married Ralph L. "Pete" Shumaker, who also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Shumaker was a homemaker and a member of St. John the Evangelistic Catholic Church in Delphos and its Altar Rosary Society. She was a graduate of Delphos St. John's High School, a 1927 graduate of Lima Business College and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary 3035 in Delphos.
Survivors include three daughters, Joann (Richard) Roth of Roscoe, Ill., Susan (James) Schmitt of Celina and Lois (James) Carder of Lima; six grandchildren, Christine Bolinao, Kara Bussard, Matthew Carder, Sara Kriegel, Todd Carder and Aimee Roth, and two great-grandchildren, Joshua Carder and Mason Kriegel.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Haunhorst; one sister, Marcille Meyer, and a grandson, Christopher Schmitt.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 21, at St. John the Evangelistic Catholic Church in Delphos, with Father Thomas Gorman officiating. Burial will be in St. John Catholic Cemetery in Delphos.

EVANS
Grace A. Evans, 85, of 18400 State Road, Van Wert, died at 2:49 p.m. Thursday, February 19, 2004, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.
She was born March 22, 1918, in Washington Township, Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Jacob C. and Zada (Jamieson) Miller. On February 14, 1939, she married David J. Evans, who survives at home.
Mrs. Evans was a homemaker and farmed with her husband for many years. She was a member of Salem Presbyterian Church in Venedocia.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Gordon D. (Cherrie) Evans of rural Van Wert; one daughter, Marcia (Jeff) Pollock of Van Wert; a brother, Bob (Marty) Miller of Delphos; two sisters, Marilyn Oglesbee of Jackson, Mich., and Doris Markley of Van Wert; five grandchildren, Julie (Steve) West, Wendy (Doug) Tiffany, Michael (Jennifer) Evans, Sam Evans and Carrie Evans, and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 23, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Wendy Pratt officiating. Burial will be in Venedocia Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2-7 p.m. Sunday, February 22, at the funeral home.

MULLEN
Ruby E. Mullen, 81, of 1050 W. Main St., died at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, February 29, 2004, at Van Wert Manor Nursing Home.
She was born October 2, 1922, in Austin, Texas, the daughter of the late John Carney and Maude Earl (Gardner) Pendergrass. She married William R. "Bill" Mullen, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Mullen worked at Derry Drugs in Van Wert. She was a member of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803 women's auxiliaries, both in Van Wert.
Survivors include a daughter, Loretta (Hal) Scott of Lima; a foster son, Paul Sargent of Delaware (Ohio); six grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen, and two brothers.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 4, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor Rob Ratliff officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Calling hours will be an hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.
