CROWLE
Pauline S. "Susie" Crowle, 56, of Dixon, died at 7:17 a.m. Friday, February 13, 2004, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind.
She was born August 9, 1947, in Decatur, Ind., the daughter of the late Paul and Pauletta (Steinbarger) Powelson. On August 30, 1966, she married Walter Stanley Crowle, who survives at home.
Mrs. Crowle retired from KAM Manufacturing in Van Wert with more than 10 years of service as a seamstress. She attended St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Monroeville, Ind.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Terry L. (Stacey L.) Crowle of Convoy; one daughter, Lisa Etzler of Convoy; a sister, Patti (Mick) Scheumann of Hoagland, Ind.; five grandchildren, Terra Lynn Crowle, Tanner Lynn Crowle, Brady Thomas Etzler, Kayla Nicole Etzler and Madison Lynne Etzler, all of Convoy, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, February 16, at Cowan & Son Stainfield Memorial Home in Convoy, the Rev. Michael Saylor of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Convoy officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Convoy.
Calling hours are 1-5 p.m. Sunday, February 15, at the funeral home.

WISE
Leona B. Johnson Wise, 94, of Delphos, died at 9:40 a.m. Friday, February 13, 2004, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Delphos.
She was born October 29, 1909, in Putnam County, the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Dray) Miller. On December 16, 1937, she married Earl Johnson, who died November 2, 1953. She then married Clarence Wise, who also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Wise was a homemaker and a member of First Assembly of God Church in Delphos.
She is survived by several cousins.
She was preceded in death by a son, Donald Johnson, and one brother.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, February 16, at Harter & Son Memorial Chapel in Delphos, with a graveside service to follow at 3 p.m. Monday at Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery.
Calling hours are 6-8 p.m. Sunday, February 15, at the funeral home.
HOBLET
Burton B. Hoblet, 80, of Convoy, died at 1:50 a.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2004, at Van Wert County Hospital.
He was born September 21, 1923, in Wisner, Neb., the son of the late Floyd and Anna (Stouffer) Hoblet. On November 27, 1943, he married Donna Grant, who survives in Convoy.
Mr. Hoblet was a farmer for 38 years and drove school bus for 22 years for the Crestview Local School District. He was a Van Wert County commissioner from 1979 to 1986 and served 14 years as deputy inspector of weights & measures. Mr. Hoblet also served on Convoy Village Council from 1988-2004 and was a Van Wert County Fair Board director for 28 years. He was a 74-year member of Convoy United Methodist Church, a 58-year member of Van Wert Masonic Lodge 218 and a member of Van Wert Chapter 48, Order of Eastern Star.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, James (Becky) Hoblet of Mansfield and Randall (Jan) Hoblet and Brent (Tammie) Hoblet, both of Van Wert; a daughter, Susan (Gary) Miller of Van Wert; two brothers, Howard H. (Marjorie) Hoblet and Donald D. (Alice) Hoblet, both of Convoy, and seven grandchildren, Lisa, Julie, Cathy, Ben, J.D., Colby and Tiffani.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 21, at Convoy United Methodist Church, the Rev. Greg Leigh officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Convoy.
Calling hours are 3-9 p.m. Friday, February 20, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert and an hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Convoy UM Church, the ALS Foundation (Lou Gehrig's Disease) or Convoy Fire and EMS.
ROAT
Louise B. Roat, 88, of Van Wert, died at 9:20 a.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2004, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.
She was born June 27, 1915, in Hoaglin Township, Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Archie and Amy (Weeks) Hennis. On November 2, 1935, she married Omar C. Roat, who died June 22, 2000.
Mrs. Roat was a retired farmer in Union Township, attended Trinity Friends Church in Van Wert and was an avid golfer and enjoyed crafts.
Survivors include a nephew, Marice (Louise) Perry of Van Wert; two nieces, Carol Hennis and Arlene (Dean) Williamson, both of Van Wert, and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy and Elmer Hennis.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday, February 20, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Neil Hammons officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Thursday, February 19, at the funeral home.

PUTMAN
Irene Putman, 97, of Delray, Fla., and formerly of Van Wert, died at 5:05 a.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2004, at Care Center Hospice by the Sea in Boca Raton, Fla.
She was born January 2, 1907, in Rockford, the daughter of the late Mahlon and Nettie M. (Wollet) Tickle. On August 9, 1935, she married Marvin Andrew Putman, who died August 2, 1983.
Mrs. Putman retired from Federal-Mogul Corporation's National Seal Division in Van Wert in 1970. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Van Wert and its Joy Bunch and Martha Ruth Circle. She was a graduate of Rockford High School.
Survivors include a daughter, Marcia (Putman) Knapke of Delay Beach, Fla.; three grandchildren, Kirk Knapke of Dayton, Kelli Knapke of Van Wert and Kory Knapke, M.D., of Los Angeles, Calif., and three great-grandchildren, Douglas, Benjamin and Alexander Knapke.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest Eugene Tickle, and one sister, Jennie May Bienz.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 21, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

GLOSETTE
Marie Glosette of Van Wert passed away from this world and into the open arms of her Lord Jesus Christ at 8:06 p.m. Thursday, February 5, 2004, at Van Wert County Hospital.
She was born September 13, 1922, in Mercer County, the daughter of the late Walter and Lela (Seifert) Linton. On July 6, 1947, she married Arland L. "Buzz" Glosette Sr., who preceded her in death on January 4, 1991.
Mrs. Glosette was a retired seamstress with Van Wert Manufacturing Company. She was a 1940 graduate of Van Wert High School and a member of Calvary Evangelical Church in Van Wert.
Survivors include a son, Arland L. "Biff" (Laurita) Glosette Jr. of Celina; one sister, Marilyn (Howard) Leever of San Diego, Calif., three grandchildren, Arland L. "Trace" (Amanda) Glosette III of Celina, Tisha Marie (Ron) Rodriguez of Chattanooga (Ohio) and Tafani Faye (Trey) Stober of Rockford; nine great-grandchildren, Skylar, Samantha, Cody, Caleb, Caden, Austin, Bailey, Preston and Gavin; a niece, Brenda (Scott) Williams, and a great-nephew, Justin.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Noland Linton, and four sisters, Mary Ann Linton, Margaret Linton, Dorothy Irene Marple and Harriett Humerickhouse.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family, with burial in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
There will be no calling hours.

GORMAN
George R. Gorman, 85, of Van Wert, died at 7:20 p.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2004, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.
He was born December 4, 1918, in Van Wert, the son of the late Daniel and Mary B. (Rohr) Gorman. He first married Maxine Burnett on October 5, 1945, and she preceded him in death on May 1, 1985. He then married Esther Price on July 27, 1987, and she survives in Van Wert.
Mr. Gorman founded and operated Gorman Electric of Van Wert. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert and was a veteran of World War II, serving in Egypt with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He belonged to American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both in Van Wert.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Gay (Arthur) Thomas of Bellingham, Wash.; one sister, Helen Skerritt of Escondido, Calif.; two brothers, Fred (Helen Jean) Gorman of Ottoville and Morris (Jean) Gorman of Van Wert; a grandson, Chris (Laura) Gorman of Van Wert; one granddaughter, Beth Gorman of Moorpack, Calif., and two great-grandsons, Alex and Nicholas Gorman.
He was preceded in death by a son, Tim G. Gorman, and two brothers, Frank and Tom Gorman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 6, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, where military graveside services will be conducted by the combined honors unit of the Van Wert Legion and VFW posts.
There will be no visitation.
Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic School in Van Wert, the Van Wert County Historical Society or to a charity of donor's choice.
