POTHAST
Walter C. Pothast, 95, of Delphos, died at 3:28 a.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2004, at Lincolnway Home in Ridge Township, Van Wert County.
He was born April 26, 1908, in Landeck, the son of the late John and Rose (Fischer) Pothast. On May 12, 1936, he married Henrietta Pohlman, who died May 14, 1997.
Mr. Pothast was a farmer and self-employed carpenter. He was a member of the Catholic Knights of Ohio of Landeck and was past president and a board member of United Equity. He enjoyed polka dancing.
Survivors include a son, Roger (Diane) Pothast of Delphos; three daughters, Valeta (Norman) Sieberneck of Ottoville and Sharon (Thomas) Schroeder and Judy (Steve) Kemper, both of Delphos; one sister, Gertrude Ernst of Delphos, two brothers, Omer (Rita) Pothast and Elmer Pothast, both of Delphos; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clifford and Cornelius "Nick" Pothast.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, February 7, at St. John the Evangelistic Catholic Church in Delphos, with Father Thomas Gorman officiating. Burial will be in St. John Catholic Cemetery in Delphos.
Calling hours are 2-9 p.m. Friday, February 6, and noon until the time of services Saturday at Harter & Son Funeral Home in Delphos, where a CKO service and parish wake service will be conducted at 8:30 p.m. Friday.
Memorial contributions may be directed to St. John's Catholic School in Delphos.
WISENER
Robert Harold Wisener, 85, of Middle Point, died at 3 p.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2004, at Van Wert Manor nursing home.
He was born April 29, 1918, in Van Wert County, the son of the late Alva and Lucy (Funk) Wisener. On March 25, 1939, he married Helen Reed, who died June 7, 2001.
Mr. Wisener was a retired farmer and a member of Grace Church in Middle Point. He was a lifetime member of the Civilian Conservation Corps, was a member of Eagles Aerie 715 in Delphos, was a former member of the National Farmer Organization, Wetzel Grange and the Van Wert County Farm Bureau. He was a past 4-H advisor who founded and organized the 4-H Club in Jackson Township.
Survivors include a son, Donald (Sharon) Wisener of Middle Point; one daughter, Phyllis (Danny) Thatcher of Middle Point; a brother, Earl Wisener of Sebring, Fla.; one brother-in-law, John (Crystal) Reed of Middle Point; six grandchildren, Lisa Frank, Brian Wisener, Tina Rhoades, Brad Wisener, Melanie Miller and Kevin Thatcher, and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Sue Wisener; three brothers, Lester, Otto and Car Wisener, and one sister, Grace Mitchel.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, February 8, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor Dave Prior officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery near Middle Point.
Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Saturday, February 7, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Van Wert Manor Activities Fund or the Alzheimer's Foundation.
FARLOW-KOZAK
Grace Almyra Farlow-Kozak, 91, of Rockford and a former resident of South Bend and Warsaw, Ind., died at 8:40 p.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2004, at Colonial Nursing Home in Rockford.
She was born February 23, 1912, in South Bend, the daughter of the late George H. and Molly K. (King) Lanphier. She was first married to Claude A. Farlow on June 27, 1934, and he died December 3, 1984. She then married Elmer Kozak on March 5, 1988, and he died September 2, 2001.
Mrs. Farlow-Kozak was a graduate of South Bend High School, Chicago School of Nursing and the Chicago School of Music. She played organ and piano at the Calvary Baptist Church in South Bend for 36 years.
Survivors include a son, Larry Farlow of Rockford; grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Carol Ann Yost and Mary Grace West, and a grandson.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday, February 9, at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in South Bend, with Pastor Jack Worth officiating.
There will be no visitation.
Arrangements were made by Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert.
RICE
Ronald F. Rice, 72, of Delphos, died at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2004, at her residence in Florida.
He was born July 10, 1931, in Van Wert County, the son of Carolyn (Studer) Rice and the late Harvey Rice. On August 3, 1951, he married Ann Mox, who survives in Palmeto, Fla.
Mr. Rice worked 17 years at Mox Nursery, then drove truck for Gressell's and retired after 22 years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Bradenton, Fla. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict as a petty officer third class and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3360 of Defiance and the Defiance Amvets chapter and American Legion Post 541 of Continental. He also belonged to Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2405 in Paulding, Moose Lodge 2117 in Palmeto and Lodge 2449, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, in Palmeto.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a son, Ronald E. (Carolyn) Rice of Delphos; three daughters, Deborah (Robert) Slechter of Lima, Susan (Larry) Reithman of Oakwood and Jacquelyn (Barry) Hanenkratt of Defiance; 15 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman and Kenneth Rice, and a great-granddaughter, Audrey Dobbeleare.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, February 9, at Harter & Son Memorial Chapel in Delphos, the Rev. William Schultz officiating. Burial will be in King Cemetery in Middle Point, with military graveside rites performed by the Delphos Veterans Council.
Calling hours are 2-9 p.m. Sunday, February 8, at the funeral home.

KORTOKRAX
Phyllis S. Kortokrax, 63, of Lima, went home to be with the Lord at 11:42 a.m. Monday, February 16, 2004, at Ohio State University Medical College in Columbus.
She was born February 1, 1941, in Piqua, the daughter of the late Philip and Charlotte (Lines) Hall. On September 30, 1961, she married Gerald Kortokrax, who survives in Lima.
Mrs. Kortokrax was a homemaker and a retired Licensed Practical Nurse. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Delphos and enjoyed spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Phil (Joyce) Kortokrax of Findlay and Alan (Susan) Kortokrax of Niskayuna, N.Y.; four daughters, Kim (Mike) Little of Harrod, Cheryl (Ron) Swisher of Delta and Lisa Mays and Cyndi (Darren Lepper) Hartsock, both of Lima; one sister, Virginia Bradley of Lima, seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 19, at First Assembly of God Church in Delphos, the Rev. Dan Eaton and Rev. Marc sStephens officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Delphos.
Calling hours are 2-4 ad 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, February 18, at Harter & Son Funeral Home in Delphos and an hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church or the OSU organ transplant program.
LOGAN
Larry Dean Logan, 63, of Ohio City, died at 7:35 a.m. Sunday, February 1, 2004, at Van Wert Manor Nursing Home in Van Wert.
He was born June 10, 1941, in Lynn, Iowa, the son of the late Wayne and Anna (Van Houten) Logan. He never married.
Mr. Logan worked at El Monte Plastics in Ohio City.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, February 5, at Kingsley United Methodist Church in rural Ohio City, the Rev. Chuck Glover officiating.
There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be directed to a charity of donor's choice.

SULLINGER
Kathryn S. Sullinger, 87, of Mendon, died at 12:10 a.m. Saturday, February 7, 2004, at The Laurels of Shane Hill nursing home in Rockford.
She was born March 13, 1916, in Fort Wayne, Ind., the daughter of the late John Harvey and Grace (Sweeny) Leonard.
Ms. Sullinger was a retired school teacher who taught in the Perry Local Schools, Lima City Schools and at St. Mary's Catholic School in Van Wert. She was a 1935 graduate of Central High School in Fort Wayne and earned her teaching degree from Ohio Northern University in Ada. She was a member of Mendon United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, Terry (Elaine) Sullinger of Mendon; one daughter, Lois Studer of Van Wert; a brother, John H. (Deanna) Leonard Jr. of Hicksville; two grandchildren, Julie and Josh Sullinger, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry D. Leonard, and three sisters, Grace Krudop, Doris Elliott and Betty Mettert.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 11, at Mendon United Methodist Church, the Rev. Dr. Paul Bunnell officiating. Burial will be in Mendon Cemetery.
Calling hours are an hour prior to the service at the church.
