DIENSTBERGER
Terry L. Dienstberger, 63, of Delphos, died at 12:35 p.m. Saturday, January 24, 2004, at his residence.
He was born September 7, 1940, the son of the late Paul A. and Dolores M. (Wegesin) Dienstberger. On June 12, 1986, in Delphos, he married Bonnie Stripe, who survives at home.
Mr. Dienstberger had worked at the Chrysler Amplex plant in Van Wert for 24 years as an inspector, then transferred to the Belvedere, Ill., Chrysler plant as a driver for six years before retiring. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served 18 months in Korea as an electrician. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Delphos, Delphos Eagles, Van Wert Moose lodge and Delphos Veterans of Foreign Wars post. He was a graduate of Delphos Jefferson High School and was a four-year letter winner on the varsity baseball team, a two-year letter winner on the varsity football team, a member of the Varsity "D" Club and an assistant coach and past officer of the Delphos Midget Football Association. He liked to swim and work in his shop and was an avid Delphos Jefferson and Ohio State Buckeyes fan.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Gregory (Valerie) Dienstberger of Perrysburg, Daniel (Diane) Dienstberger of Lima and Richard (Marta) Dienstberger of Delphos; two stepsons, Donald (Elaine) Bragg Jr. of Van Wert and Rex (Debra) Bragg of Jonestown; a stepdaughter, Kathy Boaz of Van Wert; two sisters, Diane (Jim) Boser of Albany, N.Y., and Carol (Joe) Youngpeter of Landeck; two brothers, Paul (Jan) Dienstberger of Ashland and Hank (Kathy) Dienstberger of Lancaster, Pa.; six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Brian P. Dienstberger, and one brother, Dan Dienstberger.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 28, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Delphos, with Rev. William Schultz officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Delphos, with military rites conducted by the Delphos Veterans Council.
Calling hours are 6-8 p.m. Monday, January 26, and 2-4 p.m. Tuesday, January 27, at Harter & Son Memorial Chapel and an hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.

THATCHER
Garry D. Thatcher, 58, of Van Wert, died at 7:10 p.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2004, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was born May 4, 1945, in Van Wert County, the son of the late Thurman A. "Bill" and Leah R. (Roop) Thatcher.
Mr. Thatcher retired from Sonoco Fibre Drum in Van Wert after 20 years of service.
Survivors include Sarah Mensing and her daughter, Rebecca "Becky" Mensing; a son, Nicholas "Nick" Thatcher of Van Wert; one daughter, Kristin "Kristi" Thatcher of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters, Pauline Thatcher and Ruby M. Giessler, both of Van Wert, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard Thatcher, Donald W. Thatcher and a twin brother, Larry Thatcher.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, February 1, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Paul Miller officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City.
Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Saturday, January 31, at the funeral home.

BASSETT
Thomas H. Bassett, 86, of 19133 Plum St., Venedocia, died at 9:35 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2004, at Van Wert Manor Nursing Home following a brief illness.
He was born November 10, 1917, in Jennings Township, Van Wert County, the son of the late DeWitt S. and Hannah J. (Owens) Bassett. On June 2, 1949, he married Lois Price, who died October 15, 2002.
Mr. Bassett retired from Federal-Mogul Corp. in 1982 and was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of Salem Presbyterian Church in Venedocia and graduated from Spencerville High School in 1935. He was a World War II veteran, having served four years in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He was a member of American Legion Post 191 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6772, both of Spencerville.
Survivors include a son, Thomas J. (Connie) Bassett of Van Wert; one daughter, Linda B. (Denny) Schumm of Van Wert; a sister, Dorothy (Paul) Cummings of Lima; three grandsons, Lucas Bassett Schumm, Brian Thomas Bassett and Nathan Michael Bassett, all of Van Wert, and one granddaughter, Bryn Catharine Schumm of Van Wert.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Bassett, and a sister, M. Jane VanEman.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 13, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Wendy S. Pratt officiating. Burial will be in Venedocia Cemetery, with military graveside services will be American Legion Post 191 and VFW Post 6772 of Spencerville.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, January 12, at the funeral home.

STITTSWORTH
Gloria J. Stittsworth, 81, of Van Wert, died Saturday evening, January 10, 2004, at her residence.
She was born July 31, 1922, in Van Wert, the daughter of the late J. Howard and Josephine B. (Hawkins) King. On June 24, 1944, she married H. Larry Stittsworth, who died July 10, 1994.
Mrs. Stittsworth was a homemaker and member of First United Methodist Church in Van Wert. She was a member of the Van Wert Area Alumni Marching Band and the Van Wert-Paulding County Ohio State Alumni Association.
Survivors include three daughters, Karen Madison and Kathy (Allen) Sink, both of Van Wert, and Kristine (Ed) Bozymski of Westerville; a sister, Jackie (Ed) Bates of Van Wert; seven grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 14, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Paul Miller officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, at the funeral home.

CLAYPOOL
AnnBelle Claypool, 80, of Delphos, died at 5 p.m., Saturday, January 10, 2004, at her residence.
She was born May 21, 1923, in Delphos, the daughter of the late Nathaniel and Nora Diltz. On June 7, 1940, she married Gerald "Bud" Claypool, who died January 22, 2003, after 62 years of marriage.
Mrs. Claypool retired after 19 years at Huffman Manufacturing. She attended Delphos Wesleyan Church and was a very loving mother and grandmother.
Survivors include a son, Dennis (Diane) Claypool of Delphos; three daughters, AlVera Paxson of Scottsdale, Ariz., Geralene (Dick) Thitoff of Delphos and Joyce (Mark) Miller of Van Wert; two sisters, Louella Teman and Lauritta Kohorst, both of Delphos; 14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Russell, Ira, Gerald and Ellis Diltz, and six sisters, Blanche Bowers, Eunice Good, Mary Ester, Beulah Morris, Velma Teman and Irma Martin.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, at Harter & Son Memorial Chapel in Delphos, the Rev. Wayne Prater and Rev. Terry Martin officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Delphos.

ENDRES
Patricia Endres, 73, of Delphos, died at 6:25 p.m. Saurday, January 10, 2004, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.
She was born April 30, 1930, in Delphos, the daughter of the late Glenn and Adeline (Stocklin) Metcalfe. On November 18, 1950, she married William Endres, who survives in Delphos.
Mrs. Endres was a homemaker and co-owner of Delphos RV Service for 14 years. She was a graduate of Delphos Jefferson High School and loved painting and many other crafts.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by twos sons, David Endres of Corpus Christi, Texas, and William (Lori) Endres of Elida; three daughters, Monica (Reg) Bardo of Castaic, Calif., Susan (Gene) Miller of Columbus Grove and Janine Jester of Delphos; a sister, Margaret Leitch of St. Clair, Mich.; 12 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Marion "Mike", Joe "Toby" and Eugene "Schoolie" Metcalfe.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 14, at Harter & Son Memorial Chapel in Delphos, with Pastor Gerbert Darlington officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, and an hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home.

HOWELL
Doris P. Howell, 87, of Paulding, died at 2:09 p.m. Saturday, January 10, 2004, at Paulding County Hospital, where she was a patient.
She was born August 22, 1916, in Paulding County, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Grace (McCullough) Stanton. She married Floyd "Buck" Howell, who survives in Paulding.
Mrs. Howell worked 25 years at SK Tool in Defiance, retiring in 1981. She was a member of Paulding Church of the Nazarene.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, John Lehman of Angola, Ind., and Clayton Howell of Paulding; four daughters, Rita and Sandra Howell and Genalta Levos, all of Paulding, and Jeanetta Woquelet of Fort Wayne, Ind.; two sisters, Katherine Finnegan of Melrose and Irene Wyatt of Marion, Ind.; 20 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joann Howell, and two brothers, John and Harold Stanton.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 14, at Paulding Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be in Paulding Memorial Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2-9 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, at Den Herder Funeral Home in Paulding and an hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
