MILLER
Evelyn M. "Sis" Miller, 73, of Briceton, died recently at her residence (date has not yet been determined).
She was born November 18, 1930, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Gayle Ashbaugh and Nina (Girod) Saylor.
Ms. Miller retired after 33 years of service as head cook for Blue Creek and later Wayne Trace local schools. She was a 1948 graduate of Hoaglin-Jackson High School in rural Van Wert County.
Survivors include a son, Louis (Cheryll) Miller of Defiance; two brothers, Gerald (Reta) Ashbaugh of Van Wert and Delbert Saylor of Florida; two grandchildren, and Joyce Hessel of Scott.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Alton Ashbaugh, David "Stooge" Ashbaugh and Elbert Saylor.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 19, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert. Burial will be in Middle Creek Cemetery in Grover Hill.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, July 18, at the funeral home.

McCULLOUGH
Donald "Keith" McCullough Sr., 80, of Oakwood, died at 3:38 a.m. Saturday, July 10, 2004, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne, Ind., where he had been a patient for one day.
He was born July 13, 1923, in Oakwood, the son of the late James S. and Gertrude (Wright) McCullough. On February 27, 1942, he married Barbra Jean Maddock, who survives.
Mr. McCullough retired in 1985 after 43 years service as an agent/telegraph operator for the former Nickel Plate Railroad. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the South Pacific during World War II as a pharmacist's mate first class on the USS Segundo SS-398. He attended Oakwood United Methodist Church and was a member of the Oakwood American Legion Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 587 of Paulding and the Southwest Florida U.S. Submarine Veterans World War II Chapter.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Kathy Williams of Smith Mountain Lake, Va., and Jean (Dan) Bulau of Van Wert; three sons, Mike (Wendy) McCullough of Hudson, Mich., Donald McCullough Jr. of Lambertville, Mich., and James (Cheryl) McCullough of Mayhill, N.M.; a brother, Roger McCullough of Fort Myers, Fla.; one sister, Marilyn Young of Oakwood; 11 grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; a stepgreat-grandchild, and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne McCullough; one sister, Pauline Weisenberger; one great-granddaughter, Hope Stallbaum, and a stepgreat-grandson, Trevor Bulau.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 14, at Oakwood United Methodist Church, with Pastor C. Michael Brown officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Chapel Cemetery in Oakwood at a later date.
Calling hours are 2-9 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, at DenHerder Funeral Home in Paulding and an hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.

PONTIUS
Margaret E. "Marge" Pontius, 68, of Rockford, died at 12:45 a.m. Saturday, July 17, 2004 at Colonial Nursing Home in Rockford, where she had been a patient for the past week.
She was born October 4, 1935, in Van Wert, the daughter of the late Earl and Ida Mae Stripe. On September 5, 1954, she married William D. Pontius, who survives.
Mrs. Pontius was owner, with her husband, of Pontius Hardware in Rockford for many years and was the bookkeeper and in sales at the store.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, William Michael (Cindy) Pontius of Detroit, Mich., and Richard A. (Claudia) Pontius and Jack Lee (Deb) Pontius, both of Rockford; two daughters, Jill Ann Pontius of Rockford and Laura Sue Chandler of Pensacola, Fla.; a brother, Lawrence Stripe of Van Wert; four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by four sister, Ruth Howard, Mildred Adams Clark, Virginia Meeks and Phyllis Stripe; two brothers, John Stripe and Richard Stripe, and a granddaughter, Kathryn Pontius.
Funeral services will be held be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, with Pastor Karen Long officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Rockford, at the convenience of the family, at a later date.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at the funeral home.

SUDLOW
Marcele Lee Anna Sudlow, 90, of Punta Gorda, Fla., died Monday, July 19, 2004, at Charlotte Regional Medical Center in Punta Gorda.
She was born February 14, 1914, in Monroeville, Ind., the daughter of the late Leo and Anna (Baker) Meyer. She married Don Sudlow, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Sudlow was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Punta Gorda.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Sudlow of Warsaw, Ind.; one sister, Marie Jeffery of Fort Wayne, Ind.; a grandson, Richard Sudlow; one granddaughter, Mandy Sudlow; a great-grandson, Jacob Sudlow, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Sudlow.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, July 26, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Father Charles Obinwa officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Calling hours are after noon to the time of services Monday at the funeral home.

GRANT
Jane L. Grant, 89, of Van Wert, died at 8 p.m. Sunday, July 18, 2004, at Van Wert Manor nursing home in Van Wert.
She was born June 23, 1915, in Van Wert, the daughter of the late Pat and Grace (Arnold) Lehman. On June 25, 1943, she married James J. Grant, who died in 1999.
Mrs. Grant retired in 1977 after 44 years as a secretary for Ohio Power Company (now American Electric Power). She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Van Wert, the Ladies Society of the church, Twig II, the Van Wert chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, the Chautauqua Club of Van Wert and the Van Wert YMCA.
Survivors include a brother, Robert A. Lehman of Stanford, Conn.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 22, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Sharon Stonerock officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Calling hours are an hour prior to services on Thursday at the funeral home.

WEISMAN
Alta B. Weisman, 81, of Van Wert, died at noon on Thursday, July 1, 2004, at her residence.
She was born November 7, 1922, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Claude and Candice (Slough) Starbuck. On November 21, 1955, in Van Wert, she married Robert M. Weisman, who died February 15, 1984.
Mrs. Weisman was a former legal secretary for several Van Wert attorneys and retired in 1996 from working for Van Wert Juvenile-Probate Judge Rex Fortney, in the Probate Division. She was a member of Convoy United Methodist Church and a Bible group there. She was also a member of Beta Delta Chapter of Psi Iota Xi Sorority for more than 60 years. She was active in Twig and volunteered at the group's Thrift Shop. She enjoyed sewing and was a member of the Lady Board of Managers of Van Wert County Hospital. She was a volunteer for the Adult Daycare Center of Community Health Professionals and enjoyed the three card clubs she was in. She was also a member of Van Wert Chapter 48, Order of Eastern Star, and was an avid bowler, bowling for more than 50 years at Olympic Lanes. She had many friends and enjoyed following various local sports teams.
Survivors include a son, Kevin Weisman of Oakwood; one daughter, Kandi Ryan of Van Wert, and three grandchildren, Bryce Crow and Hayley and MiMi Ryan.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harvey and Jackie Starbuck.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, at Convoy United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Greg Leigh officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Convoy.
Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Monday, July 5, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, where a Psi Iota Xi Sorority memorial service will be held at 7:45 that evening, and an hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.

BLACKMORE
Nellie L. Blackmore, 90, of Van Wert, died at 7:50 p.m. Thursday, July 1, 2004, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.
She was born September 20, 1913, in Hoaglin Township, Van Wert County, the daughter of the late John and Ella Mae (West) Heyman. On October 15, 1933, she married Carl E. Blackmore, who died July 6, 1986.
Mrs. Blackmore was a homemaker and a member of Middle Point Presbyterian Church and the women's circle of the church.
Survivors include eight nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter and Corwin Heyman, and four sisters, Hazel Heyman, Edna Heyman, Norma Welker and Frances Gibson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 4, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Jody Harr officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery near Middle Point.
Calling hours are 4-8 p.m. Saturday, July 3, at the funeral home.
