MILLER
Marie G. Miller, 83, of Delphos, died at 1:25 p.m. Thursday, March 18, 2004, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Delphos.
She was born June 27, 1920, in Delphos, the daughter of the late George and Lucinda (Johnson) Meeks. On December 10, 1936, she married Howard L. Miller, who died in 1983.
Mrs. Miller was a homemaker and had worked at the cigar factory. She was a member of the Delphos Eagles and Veterans of Foreign Wars post. She enjoyed playing Bingo.
Survivors include two sons, Donald (Mary) Miller of Napoleon and Terry (Lana) Miller of Delphos; two daughters, Patty (Robert) Parsons of Delphos and Janet (Paul) Drew of Continental; a brother, Benjamin Meeks of Middle Point; one sister, Mary Closson of Delphos; 20 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Kent; two brothers, George Meeks and Ivan Meeks; three stepbrothers, Frances, William and Walter Nelson; a stepsister, Eileen Ridabaugh; one grandson, Curtis Miller; two great-grandchildren, Heather and T.J., and a special friend, Delmer Kohorst.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 21, at Harter & Son Memorial Chapel in Delphos, with the Rev. Ron Lumm officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Delphos.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday, March 20, and an hour prior to services Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Vancrest Bingo Fund.

TOMLINSON
Charles E. Tomlinson, 72, of Van Wert, died at 2:01 a.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2004, at Van Wert County Hospital.
He was born December 22, 1931, in Van Wert, the son of the late Paul and Vola (Harden) Tomlinson. On August 7, 1954, he married Ann L. Wykoff, who survives in Van Wert.
Mr. Tomlinson was the human resources manager for Continental Can Company and then Sonoco Corporation in Van Wert for 39 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Van Wert and a life member and past exalted ruler of Van Wert Elks Lodge 1197. He was a member and past president of the Van Wert Rotary Club, a past president of the Northwest Ohio Personnel Association, a past president of the Van Wert YMCA Board and was a longtime member of Willow Bend Country Club in Van Wert.
Survivors include a son, Ronald (Medha) Tomlinson of Marlboro, Mass.; one daughter, Karen (Randy) Bachman of Napoleon; two brothers, Donald (Cheryl) Tomlinson of Reno, Nev., and Larry (Rosalie) Tomlinson of Ocala, Fla., and three grandchildren, Graig and Gretchen Bachman and Elaine Tomlinson.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, John and James Tomlinson, and a sister, Betty Huffine Garnett.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, March 5, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Joe Wilck officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 4, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church of a charity of donor's choice.

FASZLER
Norman Kent Faszler, 77,of Van Wert, beloved husband, father and grandfather, died peacefully at 4:05 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2004.
He was born December 13, 1926, in Elizabeth, N.J., the son of the late Fredrick and Deborah (Klopp) Faszler. He married Lavena Krugh and she survives in Van Wert.
Mr. Faszler retired from Conrail as a conductor after working on the railroad for 38 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Van Wert and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the USS Ingraham. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803 and a member of American Legion Post 178, both in Van Wert.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Norman (Kim) Faszler Jr. of Scott; one daughter, Linda (Gale) Linnemeier of Fort Wayne, Ind.; four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Frederick Faszler.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, March 5, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, with military graveside rites performed by the combined honors units of VFW Post 5803 and American Legion Post 178.
Calling hours are from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, March 4, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Health Professionals or the Van Wert County Council on Aging.

SMITH
Elva N. "Annie" Smith, 89, of Decatur, Ind., died at 2 a.m. Monday, March 22, 2004, at Woodcrest Nursing Home in Decatur.
She was born January 17, 1915, in Jackson, Mich., the daughter of the late Elmer J. and Minnie N. (Fleetwood) Anspaugh. On May 10, 1942, she married Earl Lynn Smith, who died June 20, 1999.
Mrs. Smithy was a registered nurse in obstetrics and also taught Lamaze classes at Van Wert County Hospital. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Van Wert and attended St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Decatur. She was a founding member and former board member of Thomas Edison Center.
Survivors include a son, Michael B. (Mary) Smith of Tucson, Ariz.; two sisters, Clarice Hill of Decatur and Barbara Church of Fort Wayne, Ind., and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Daniel E. Smith and Thomas L. Smith; a brother, Lawrence Anspaugh, and two sisters, Etta Beer and Betty Sulivan.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 26, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Fuhrman P. Miller of St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Decatur officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Calling hours are an hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions can be made to Thomas Edison Center.

RHOADES
Elvin C. Rhoades, 86, of 611 N. Washington St., Van Wert, went to be with his Lord at 7:05 p.m. Saturday, March 20, 2004, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.
He was born April 20, 1917, in Farmer City, Ill., the son of the late Maurice and Ethel (Furtney) Rhoades. On June 2, 1940, he married Esther Thornell, who survives in Van Wert.
Mr. Rhoades was a retired farmer. He was a member of Calvary Evangelical Church in Van Wert, its Friendship Sunday School class and was formerly on the church's Board of Trustees. He was a former member of Mentzer Methodist Church, where he had served as a lay leader, Sunday School superintendent and Sunday School teacher. He and his wife had an evangelistic music ministry for 17 years in Ohio and Indiana. He formerly served on the board of directors of Van Wert County Youth for Christ, Van Wert County Crusade board and Convoy Union Board of Education.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Jacqueline (Charles) Profit of rural Van Wert and Marilyn (Dennis) Ries of Venedocia; three grandchildren, Brennan Profit, Deborah (Heath) Waltenburg and Lisa Ries, and two great-grandchildren, Holden Profit and Megan Profit.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, a twin, Eldin John Rhoades, Robert M. Rhoades and Mervil Rhoades, and a great-grandchild, Tara Nicole Profit.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 27, at Calvary Evangelical Church in Van Wert, with Dr. Ron Salzman of Tuscan, Ariz., the Rev. Raymond E. Feeck and the Rev. W. Clark Williman officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Convoy.
Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Friday, March 26, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, and an hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Gideons International or Calvary Evangelical Church in Van Wert.

CLEVENGER
Clarence Raymond Clevenger, 82, of 4998 Wolfcale Road in Convoy, died at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 28, 2004, at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Fla.
He was born January 3, 1922, in Gomer, the son of the late Clarence and Bertha (Sarber) Clevenger. On February 15, 1947, he married Annabelle Stemen, who survives in Convoy.
Mr. Clevenger retired in 1987 from Convoy Equity Exchange Company, where he had been general manager for 35 years. He was a member of Convoy United Methodist Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in the Pacific Theater of Operations during World War II. He was a graduate of Gomer High School and also had taken some college courses. Memberships included Convoy Lions Club, Convoy Community Foundation, American Legion Post 208 in Convoy, Convoy Historical Society, a past member of Van Wert County Hospital's Board of Directors, past board member of Countrymark Inc. and a past board member of the Elevator Mutual Insurance.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Donald R. (Karen) Clevenger of Indianapolis, Ind., and Richard Clevenger of Convoy; a daughter, Barbara Clevenger of Xenia; two brothers, Garwin (Marie) Clevenger of Nebraska and Jay (Deanna) Clevenger of Ashland; five sisters, Cecil Hawkins of Phoenix, Ariz., Selma Kilgore, Leola (Robert) Stemen and Joyce (Clarence) Zimmerman, all of Lima, and Fay (Marvin) Stephens of Gomer, and a grandson, Nicholas Clevenger of Indianapolis.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 10, at Convoy United Methodist Church, with Rev. Gregory Leigh officiating.
Calling hours are 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Convoy United Methodist Church or the Convoy EMS Squad.
Funeral arrangements were made by Cowan & Son Stainfield Memorial Home.

HEISING
Otto J. Heising Sr., 80, of Elida, died at 2:23 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, 2004, at the Dayton Veterans Administration Medical Center.
He was born November 22, 1923, in Ottoville, the son of the late Henry and Loretta (Kortokrax) Heising. On June 25, 1961, he married Kay Frances Miller, who died June 4, 2001.
Mr. Heising retired from Rawls National Standard Division, but also worked at ACY Railroad in Delphos, Lorton Concrete, Borden's Foods and Westinghouse. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from 1943-45 as a map reader, truck driver and paratrooper. He belonged to Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 691 in Wapakoneta for 44 years, Delphos Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3035 and Delphos American Legion Post 268. He enjoyed fishing and watching television, especially wrestling.
Survivors include two sons, Otto J. (Sheila) Heising Jr. of Elida and Jeffrey L. Miller of Delphos; a daughter, Loretta (William) Saffle Sr. of Elida; three grandchildren, William (Ashley) Saffle Jr., John Paul Saffle and Haleigh Heising, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 27, at Harter & Son Memorial Chapel in Delphos, with Father Randy Giesige officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Delphos, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Delphos Veterans Council.
Calling hours are 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 25, and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 26, at the funeral home, where a military service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday.
