MATTHEWS
Kathryn L. Matthews, 83, of 11088 Ohio 118, died at 7:25 p.m. Wednesday, October 30, 2002, at Lincolnway Home near Middle Point.
She was born April 15, 1919, in Van Wert, the daughter of the late Perry G. and Grayce Bonda (Overholt) Profit. On November 22, 1938, she married Carl Russell Matthews, who died December 20, 1993.
Mrs. Matthews retired from Van Wert County Hospital as a nurse's aide and also worked at Van Wert Manor nursing home in Van Wert. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Van Wert.
Survivors include a son, Jan C. (Roberta) Matthews of Ohio City; one daughter, Carolyn K. (Roger) Fegley of Convoy; four grandchildren, Jeff Matthews, Todd Matthews, Fred Fegley and Tracy Burkhead, and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Profit.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Greg Leigh officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City.
Calling hours are 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

WILKINSON
Howard C. Wilkinson, 84, of Lumberton, N.C., and Pinehurst, N.C., died Friday, October 4, 2002.
He was born October 3, 1918, in Van Wert, the son of the late Townsend C. and Agnes (Kuertz) Wilkinson. On October 11, 1947, he married Joan Eggerss, who survives.
Mr. Wilkinson was retired executive vice president of Alpha Cellulose Corp. He attended Marion Military Institute in Marion, Ala., and Giffin Junior College in Van Wert. He was a major in the U.S. Army Air Corps and served in Greenland during World War II. He also served in the Army Air Corps Reserve in Boise, Idaho, during the Korean War. Early in his life, he worked with his family at Wilkinson Printing Co. Following his return from the service, he was employed by Aeroquip Corporation in Van Wert. In 1960, he and his family moved to Bloomington, Ill., where he joined Alpha Cellulose Corp. In 1968, the company moved its headquarters to Lumberton, N.C., where Mr. Wilkinson was executive vice president until his retirement in 1994. Following his retirement, he and his wife moved to The Country Club of North Carolina in Pinehurst. During his lifetime, he served on the board of the Robeson County Boy Scouts and was presented the Silver Beaver Award. He was a member of the Masons and a founding member of the Jaycees in Van Wert. He also belonged to the Shrine of Wilmington, N.C. He served on the board of trustees of First Federal Savings & Loan of Lumberton, N.C., and Marion Military Institute.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Christine (Patrick J.) Donovan of St. Paul, Minn., and Holly Floyd of Southern Pines, N.C.; two sisters, Louise W. Evans of Mansfield and Laura W. Conn of Boerne, Texas, and six grandchildren, Dru Donovan, Cullen Donovan, McKeever Donovan, Hennessey Donovan, Turner Floyd and Drexel Floyd.
He was preceded in death by a stepmother, Margaret (Huggins) Wilkinson; one son, Bradford C. Wilkinson, and a brother, Richard T. Wilkinson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church in Van Wert, the Rev. Dr. Edward Jillson officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery.
Calling hours are 5-7 p.m. Monday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert.

GOINS
James L. "Jim" Goins, 64, of Haviland, died at 3:45 a.m. Friday, October 4, 2002, at his residence.
He was born August 11, 1938, in Greenville, the son of Mercedes (Hosbrook) Goins, who survives in Van Wert, and the late Gladstone "Jack" Goins. On March 22, 1958, in Convoy, he married Carolyn L. Baker, who also survives in Haviland.
Mr. Goins formerly worked at Ley Equipment and Federal-Mogul Corp., both in Van Wert, and retired from Sims Cab in Payne. He served in the Ohio National Guard and was a former village councilman in Haviland.
Other survivors include one son, Cameran (Connie) Goins of Apex, N.C.; two daughters, Glenda Goins of Latty and Christi Dias of Haviland; two brothers, Jerry (Judy) Goins of Scott and Jack (Karen) Goins of Cecil; two sisters, Karen (Floyd) Mason of Van Wert and Roxanne Hosbrook of Tiffin; nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Goins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Don Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Blue Creek Cemetery in Haviland.
Calling hours are 2:30-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

KREISCHER
Ruby M. Kreischer, 87, of Convoy, died at 5:07 p.m. Sunday, October 6, 2002, at Convoy Care Center.
She was born March 25, 1915, in Richmond, Ky., the daughter of the late Ollie and Bessie (Hollingsworth) Adams. On July 31, 1936, she married Wilbur M. "Mike" Kreischer, who died April 5, 1981.
Mrs. Kreischer worked as a homemaker and for 15 years as a cook for Crestview North Elementary School. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ near Convoy and a member of the Ladies Guild of the church. She also belonged to the Convoy Fox Hunters Club, was a member of the former Convoy Fire Department Ladies EMS Auxiliary, was given the 1992 Convoy Days Citizen's Award.
Survivors include four sons, William D. Kreischer, Philip (Carol) Kreischer, Dennis (Debbie) Kreischer and Stephen Kreischer, all of Convoy; two daughters, Patricia (Dale) Perrott of Van Wert and Jane (Fred) Germann of Convoy; a sister, Helen (Lewis) Fralick of Fort Wayne, Ind.; 18 grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, John and Paul Wayne Kreischer; a brother, Clarence Adams; two sisters, Bertha Mefferd and Mertie Taylor; and a grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Gearhart, Mack & Jurczyk Funeral Home in Convoy, the Rev. Ronald Fruth officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery near Middle Point.

SHEETS
Alice M. Sheets, 90, of Convoy, died at 3:47 p.m. Sunday, October 6, 2002, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.
She was born December 30, 1911, in Middle Point, the daughter of the late Thomas Oscar and Grace Ellen (Rarrick) Armstrong. On December 23, 1939, she married Basil Edwin Sheets, who died February 14, 1981.
Mrs. Sheets was employed by Dana Corporation in Fort Wayne, Ind., for 10 years and was a homemaker. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Convoy.
Survivors include three nephews, William K. (Helen) Ashbaugh of Van Wert; Basil Richendollar of Convoy and John Louis (Helen) Ackerman of Spencerville, and three nieces, Marcia Richendollar of Cortez, Colo., Barb (Robert) Stewart of Chatham, N.J., and Pam Leslie of Tallahassee, Fla.
She was preceded in death by five sisters, Mary, Dorothy, Ruth, Mildred and Altha.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Cowan & Son Stainfield Memorial Home in Convoy, the Rev. Janice A. Berthinee officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Convoy.

OSTING
Frances D. Osting, 51, of Delphos and formerly of Nelson, Ga., died at 12:41 p.m. Monday, October 7, 2002, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.
She was born June 26, 1951, in Blue Ridge, Ga., the daughter of the late Eurias and Gean (Paterson) Greene. On April 11, 1994, she married Arnold Osting, who survives in Delphos.
Mrs. Osting was a pharmacy technician for Suncrest Pharmacy in Knoxville, Tenn.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Curtis (Peggy) Roland of Jasper, Ga.; two daughters, Denise Cruikshank of Canton, Ga., and Susan (Scott) Lawson of Ellijay, Ga.; nine stepchildren, Arnold B. (Becky) Osting, Clayton P. (Susan) Osting, Melanie R. Osting, Kim A. (Brenda) Osting, Allison K. Osting, Shane M. Osting, Shawn C. Osting, Mitchel (Becky) Osting and Nathan (Sonya) Osting; four sisters, Barbara, Ann, Glenda and Elizabeth "Sadie"; three stepbrothers, Tony, Steve and Timothy Roland; five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
There will be no funeral services or visitation.

LUGINBILL
Clara Louise Luginbill, 70, of Willshire, died at 11:22 a.m. Tuesday, October 8, 2002, at Van Wert County Hospital. She was born September 12, 1932, in New Corydon, Ind., the daughter of the late Mike and Idora (Luttman) Schott. On February 22, 1958, she married Kenneth Leroy Luginbill, who survives.
Mrs. Luginbill was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ near Rockford.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Ruth A. (Charles) Whitten of Willshire; two sons, (Jeff (Sara) Luginbill of Willshire and Scott (Jill) Luginbill of Rockford; a sister, Joyce (Don) Shiveley of Celina, and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Luginbill Jr.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's United Church of Christ on Oregon Road near Rockford, with Pastor John Fleming officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Calling hours will be 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford and an hour prior to services Friday at the church.
