DAVIES
Kathleen A. Davies, 61, of Ottoville, died at 3:02 a.m. Monday, September 6, 2004, at her residence.
She was born May 23, 1943, in Ottoville, the daughter of the late Elmer and Dortha (Dick) Schmitt. On September 11, 1965, in Ottoville, she married Donald J. "Don" Davies, who survives in Ottoville.
Mrs. Davies was a licensed practical nurse, a foster parent trainer and also an actor and director. She was member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ottoville, where she was a communion distributor and lector, as well as a member of the Liturgy Committee. She also belonged to the Ohio Community Theatre Association and was a member of the Van Wert Civic Theatre Association and Offstage Productions in Van Wert.
In addition to her husband, she was survived by two sons, Brent (Valerie) Davies of Elida and Jeremy (Melissa) Davies of Napoleon; four daughters, Stacy (Thomas) Shaw of Findlay, Melissa (Sean) Tidd of Lima, Paula Davies of Ottoville and Jessica (Clay) Lytle of Van Wert; a brother, Kenneth Schmitt of Lafayette; one sister, Linda King of Delphos, and 11 grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 9, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ottoville, with Father Tony Borgia officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Ottoville.
Calling hours are 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, and 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 8, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert.

WERMER
Carma Joan Wermer, 77, of Convoy, died at 7:25 a.m. Monday, September 6, 2004, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.
She was born June 8, 1927, in Scott, the daughter of the late Clifford H. and Lata L. (Thompson) Marshall. On May 10, 1947, she married Byron B. Wermer, who died January 7, 1995.
Mrs. Wermer was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ. She was an election poll worker for many years and enjoyed gardening, going to the lake and fishing. She was a proud and loving grandmother.
Survivors include three sons, Randall B. Wermer and Jeffery J. (Lori) Wermer, both of Convoy, and Jerald G. (Jill) Wermer of Van Wert; two daughters, Joan K. (Ray) Kiehl and Janice F. Wermer, both of Convoy; a brother, Bill (Rosemary) Marshall of Dana Point, Calif.; two sisters, Marvelene Hughes of Dover, Fla., and Judith Propper of Diamondhead, Mass.; five grandchildren, Alan Kiehl, Andrew Wermer, Kelsy Wermer, Ryann Wermer and Reed Wermer, and a great-grandchild, Brady Kiehl.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Maurice Marshall, and a granddaughter, Lindsay Wermer.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 9, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Kenyon Kaehr officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Convoy.
Calling hours are 4-9 p.m. Thursday, September 8, at the funeral home.

MARTIN
Alice May Martin, 71, of Van Wert, died Monday evening, September 6, 2004, at her residence.
She was born September 3, 1933, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Harvey and Naomi (Myffeler) Garwood. On June 28, 1958, she married Walter Martin, who died November 7, 1988.
Mrs. Martin was a cook at the Whitehall Inn in Van Wert and also operated a home cleaning business. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Van Wert.
Survivors include a son, Richard A. (Angie) Martin of Van Wert; one daughter, Rita (Ben) Jones of Van Wert; a brother, Ralph (Carol) Garwood of Van Wert, and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Doyle Garwood, and a sister, Esther Horther.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 10, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor Daniel Cook officiating. Burial will be in Live Oak Cemetery in Paulding.
Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Thursday, September 9, at the funeral home.

GEISE
Donald J. Geise, 78, of Delphos, died at 2:50 p.m. Friday, September 3, 2004, at Roselawn Manor nursing home in Spencerville.
He was born February 13, 1926, in Van Wert County, the son of the late Edward J. and Hilda (Laudick) Geise. On August 13, 1947, he married Margaret A. Swick, who survives in Delphos.
Mr. Geise worked in maintenance at Central Soya in Delphos and retired after 19 years of service. Before that he worked for Sheeter Motor Sales for 23 years. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos, was a volunteer firefighter for 20 years and belonged to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3035 in Delphos. He had served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. In his spare time, he enjoyed restoring tractors and refinishing furniture.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Anthony T. (Mary Joe) Geise of Findlay and Joseph (Jan) Geise, Mark E. Geise and Andrew M. (Nicole) Geise, all of Delphos; three daughters, Ann E. (Gary) Stetler, Carol (Nick Reynolds) Rode and Dona M. Osborne, all of Delphos; four brothers, James (Barbara) Geise of Lima, Thomas Geise of Loveland, Colo., and Roger (Celeste) Geise and Charles (Eileen) Geise, both of Delphos; 15 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Reidenbach, and one granddaughter, Amanda Marie Branham.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 7, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos, with Father Thomas Gorman officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Delphos.
Calling hours are 2-4 Sunday, September 5, and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, September 6, at Harter & Schier Memorial Chapel in Delphos, where a parish wake service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Monday.

McMASTERS
Anna Mary McMasters, 82, of Willis, Texas, and formerly of Hudson, Ind., died at 10 p.m. Friday, September 17, 2004, at Huntsville (Texas) Health Care Center.
She was born August 21, 1922, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Russell LeRoy and Edna Garnet (Weagly) Huffman. On June 13, 1942, she married Bernard E. McMasters, who died January 3, 2003.
Mrs. McMasters has been a school secretary at York School (Lincolnview South).
Survivors include a son, Gene McMasters of Willis; one brother, Russell L. Huffman Jr. of Union City, Mich.; a sister, Betty Nycum of Hoagland, Ind.; two grandchildren, John McMasters, serving in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Kittyhawk and Paul McMasters of Gatesville, Texas; a great-grandson, Gabrial McMasters of Gatesville, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lela Ladema Monroe and Helen Juanita Stahl.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 22, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert. Burial will be in Venedocia Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.

HAGEMAN
Mary Ellen Hagemen, 53, of Delphos, died at 6:45 p.m. Friday, September 17, 2004, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.
She was born August 9, 1951, in Granite City, Ill., the daughter of the late Victor Michael Ropel Sr. and Nadine Florence (Fisher) Ropel.
Ms. Hageman had worked at KP Industries and was a beautician. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary 2025.
Survivors include a son, Richard Hageman Jr. of Columbus; one daughter, Lisa Hageman of Columbus; a brother, Victor Ropel Jr. of Paris, Calif.; an aunt, Florence Hughes, and Richard Hageman Sr.
She was preceded in death by a sister.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 21, at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Delphos, with Father Thomas Gorman officiating.
There will be no calling hours.

STERLING
Donald E. Sterling, 74, of Fort Jennings, died at 2:10 a.m. Monday, April 11, 2005, at his residence.
He was born June 18, 1930, in Delphos, the son of the late Delbert and Helen (Ebbeskotte) Sterling. On September 22, 1951, he married Patty Little Morris, who survives in Fort Jennings.
Mr. Sterling was retired from Sonoco Fiber Drum in Van Wert and was a courier for Medi-Lab until his health failed. He was a member of Pike Mennonite Church and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a marathon runner and enjoyed fishing, softball and working in his yard and planting flowers.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Dana (Diane) Sterling of Delphos; two daughters, Darlene (Lee) Jones of Alabama and Sabrina (Ray) Neiford of Elida; one brother, Bud Grahm of Cleveland; a sister, Charlene (Roger) Staats of Delphos; 11 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Delbert Sterling.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, at Pike Mennonite Church in Elida, with Orlan Koehn and Wayne Prater officiating. Burial will be in Pike Mennonite Cemetery.
Calling hours are 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, and from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday at Pike Mennonite Church in Elida.
