CARTER
Dorsey L. “Bud” Carter, 78, of Convoy, died at 8 p.m. Monday, April 11, 2005, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.
He was born May 2, 1926, in Edgerton, Ind., the son of the late Elvin D. and Lucille F. (Ladd) Carter. On December 18, 1948, he married Janice Mae Miesen, who survives in Convoy.
Mr. Carter retired in 1988 from Howard Sobers Trucking in Springfield. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Attu aircraft carrier in the South Pacific during World War II. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2873 in Grover Hill.
Survivors include two sons, Richard “Butch” (Rita) Carter and Mark (Deb) Carter, both of Van Wert; three daughters, Karen (Gary) Baxter of Convoy, Pam (Don) Eversole of Lima and Debbie (Dennis) Gilbert of Hudsonville, Mich.; 16 grandchildren, Kelly Baxter, Dan Baxter, Terry Eversole, Amy (Jeff) Friemoth, Leslie (Brandon) Glossett, Kalah Eversole, Julia (Seth) Hamming, Andrew Gilbert, Trisha Carter, Chad (Amber) Carter, Tyson (Bridget) Carter, Chaise Carter, Jessica Houser, Mike (Amanda) Boroff, Darcie (Ben) Price and Anthony Carter, and 17 great-grandchildren, Ted and Nicole Eversole, Aubrey and Jayna Friemoth, Madyson and Grant Glossett, Taylor Hamming, Nicholas, Jared and Brock Stegaman, Payton Carter, Justice Bruns, McKenna and Corbin Houser, Hannah and Annie Boroff and Gracie Price.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dewey and Dick Carter; a sister, Margie Boner, and a great-grandson, Austin Boroff.
Private family services will be conducted, with the Rev. Doug Stockton officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Convoy, with military graveside honors conducted by the combined honor units of American Legion 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both in Van Wert.
Calling hours are 5-8 p.m. Friday, April 15, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert.

SUEVER
Clarence “Pee Wee” Suever, 74, of Delphos, died at 10:30 p.m. Monday, April 11, 2005, at his residence.
He was born August 27, 1930, in Van Wert, the son of the late Ferd and Anna (Schwinnen) Suever.
Mr. Suever worked out of the union hall and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3035, also of Delphos, and the Delphos Coon and Sportsman Club. He enjoyed fishing NASCAR racing and other sports.
Survivors include three sons, Michael (Lisa) Suever, Richard Suever and Matthew (Terri) Suever, all of Delphos; two daughters, Sharon (Ben) Norbeck and Millie Siefker, both of Delphos; four brothers, Herman (Rowena) Suever, Ralph (Margaret) Suever, Virgil Suever and Irvin (Alice) Suever, all of Delphos; four sisters, Rita Kaverman, Colleta Lause and Ann Lause, all of Delphos, and Imelda Knueve of Monroeville, Ind.; 12 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ellen Suever.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, April 15, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos, with Father Thomas Gorman officiating. Burial will be in St. John Catholic Cemetery, with military graveside rites performed by the Delphos Veterans Council.
Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Thursday, April 14, at Harter & Schier Funeral Home in Delphos, where a parish wake service will be held at 7:30 that evening.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John Catholic School or VFW Memorial Park.

BAUER
Grace Arvada Bauer, 92, of Van Wert, died at 10:35 p.m. Sunday, August 14, 2005, at Van Wert Manor nursing home in Van Wert.
She was born May 18, 1913, in Geneva, Ind., the daughter of the late John Russell and Ethel (Leona) Wheeler. On October 24, 1953, she married Francis Clifford Bauer, who died February 20, 1969.
Mrs. Bauer had worked as a nurse’s aide at the former Van Rue Geriatric Clinic for five years and then at Van Wert Manor nursing home for 7½ years, retiring in May 1978. She was a former member of First Friends Church in Van Wert and a former member of the Van Wert Senior Citizens and Van Wert Eagles Auxiliary.
Survivors include several stepchildren, Mary E. Crider and Delores E. Free, both of Van Wert, and Donald Charles Bauer of Georgia. She will also be missed by several stepgrandchildren and their families, and three nieces and their families.
She was preceded in death by two stepchildren, Clifford E. Bauer and Audrey E. Chivington; a brother, Ralph Thompson Wheeler, and one sister, Ruth Shimp.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 17, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Job Stagner officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Viewing hours are 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, August 16, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Friends Church or Van Wert County Council on Aging.

LITTLE
Pauline A. Little, 82, of 2611 Purdy Road, Rockford, died at 1:10 p.m. Sunday, August 14, 2005, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.
She was born January 28, 1923, in Landeck, the daughter of the late Harold and Bernice (Louth) Kill. On September 23, 1941, she married Lavondale "Bill" Little, who preceded her in death on November 26, 1994.
Mrs. Little was a homemaker and member of First United Methodist Church in Rockford, where she was an active member of the Women's Circle.
Survivors include three daughters, Barbara (David) Hileman of Rockford, Alice Miller of Celina and Carol (Carl) Ricker of Venedocia; a son, Dennis Little of Rockford; three brothers, Leonard Kill of Spencerville, Lester Kill of St. Marys and Carl Kill of Celina; 11 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant son; a son-in-law; one brother, and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 18, at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, with Pastor Mike Berne officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Rockford.
Viewing hours are 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, August 17, and an hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.

HUNT
Leona Moser Hunt, 88, of Waterford, Mich., and formerly of Van Wert County, died at 10:57 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2005, at Lourdes Nursing Home in Waterford.
She was born September 11, 1916, in Wren, the daughter of the late Earl W. and Mary Mae (Case) Moser. She married Leland C. Hunt, who preceded her in death on March 29, 1988.
Mrs. Hunt sold real estate for Bateman & O'Neil Realty and was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church in Pontiac, Mich.
Survivors include a son, Michael L. Hunt; one daughter, Sherree (Greg) Gerzanics of Waterford, Mich.; a brother, Harry Moser of Wren; three sisters, Veda Ruth Benett of Willshire, Evelyn Gibbs of Pigeon, Mich., and Audrey Sammetinger of Fort Wayne, Ind., and three grandchildren, Steve Hunt and Patrick and Jennifer Gezranics.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Marshal A. Moser, and a sister, Harriet Krugh.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 18, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Calling hours are 3-7 p.m. Sunday, April 17, at the funeral home.

STRATTON
A'Delphine Stratton, 91, died at 8:10 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2005, at her daughter's residence in Cullowhee, N.C.
She was born January 24, 1914, in Grover Hill, the daughter of the late Cleveland E. and Ida B. (Curtis) Eaton. On January 24, 1934, she married Floyd Andrew "Bud" Stratton, who died January 8, 1999.
Mrs. Stratton owned the Dairy Dip and Shell service station in Grover Hill. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Van Wert, and the Ladies Aid Society of the church.
Survivors include a son, Kent E. Stratton of Churubusco, Ind.; one daughter, Karen (Bill) Perry of Cullowhee, N.C.; four grandchildren, Jon (Julie Ann) Stratton of Churubusco, Jay (Trudy) Stemen of Naples, Fla., Jule Ann (Carl) Calloway of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Michael (Fedra) Perry of Nashville, Tenn., and six great-grandchildren, Christopher and Seth Stratton, Amanda and Michelle Calloway, Carissa Stemen and Mitchell Stemen.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Darwin Eaton.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 17, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Timothy A. Burden of Trinity United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Middle Creek Cemetery in Grover Hill.
Calling hours are 5-8 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to either the Sylva, N.C., or Van Wert hospice programs or Trinity United Methodist Church in Van Wert.

DYKE
James Kinney Dyke, 58, of Gomer, died at 5:35 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2005, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.
He was born August 20, 1946, in Wheeling, W.Va., the son of the late Ralph and Elda (Kinney) Dyke. On June 21, 1986, he married Carolyn Stewart, who survives in Gomer.
Mr. Dyke was retired from teaching in the Lima City Schools as a music teacher. He was a member of Gomer United Church of Christ, Allen County Retired Teachers Association and he played string bass in the Lima and Ohio Northern symphony orchestras. He was a graduate of Worthington High School in Columbus and received his master's degree from Eastern Kentucky University. He enjoyed music, reading and traveling.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Aaron (Janine) Dyke of Dayton; one daughter, Sarah Nicole Dyke of Delphos, and one grandchild, Teiya Dyke of Dayton.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, April 18, at Gomer United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Brian Knoderer officiating. Burial will be in Pike Run Cemetery.
A memorial visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Gomer United Church of Christ Music Department.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Harter & Schier Funeral Home in Delphos.
