RIST
Evelyn Eileen Rist, 68, of 830 Allen Drive, Van Wert, died at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2005, at her residence surrounded by her family.
She was born February 25, 1937, in Huntington, W.Va., the daughter of the late Omen K. and Evelyn Estelene (Riggs) Walker. On June 18, 1955, she married J. Michael Rist, a man she had dated since July 19, 1952, and who survives at their residence.
Mrs. Rist was a veterinary assistant, a secretary at Trinity Friends Church and retired from The Aristocrat, a pet boarding and grooming business in Van Wert. She was a member of Calvary Evangelical Church in Van Wert and was active in the church’s Martha Circle, Builders Sunday School class, Chat ‘n’ Chew, small group Bible studies and MUMS. She was a graduate of Marshall High School in Huntington, W.Va., where she was awarded the Daughters of the American Revolution Award in both junior and senior high school and was captain of the cheerleader squad. She was a graduate of the Nash Grooming Academy in Newark, N.J., and was a certified non-sporting group groomer. She also belonged to the Poodle Club of America.
In addition to her husband, survivors include a son, John Douglas (Kelly) Rist of Middle Point; one brother, Omen K. (Geneve) Walker Jr. of Kettering; a sister, Kathryn Padgett of Canal Winchester; two grandchildren, Colt Michael William Rist and Alicia Eileen Rist; 12 nieces, and a nephew.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, at Calvary Evangelical Church in Van Wert, with the Rev. Raymond E. Feeck officiating.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert and an hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.

SCHRAMM
Dorothy J. Schramm, 76, of Lima, died at 7:45 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2005, at Birchhaven Retirement Village.
She was born July 17, 1927, in Lima, the daughter of the late Alvertis and Viola (Sneary) Deafendeffin. She married Melvin Schramm, who died October 26, 1999.
Mrs. Schramm worked at Choices Restaurant as a cook. She also enjoyed needlepoint and oil painting.
Survivors include a son, Robert Schramm of Lima; one brother, Robert Deafendeffin of Lima, and a grandson, Jared Schramm.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Dylan Schramm.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, at Harter & Schier Funeral Home in Delphos. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Fort Jennings.
Calling hours are from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, at the funeral home.

EBY
Edna H. Eby, 88, of Elida, died at 7 a.m. Sunday, June 12, 2005, at her daughter's residence in Elida.
She was born October 21, 1916, in Maugansville, Md., the daughter of the late Jonas E. and Nancy S. Horst. On October 21, 1937, she married Lewis V. Eby, who died December 5, 1984.
Mrs. Eby was a housewife and a member of Sharon Mennonite Church in Elida. She loved to piece quilt, sew and loved to read.
Survivors include three sons, Lewis (Ruth) Eby Jr. of Clear Spring, Md., Ivan (Kathy) Eby of Hagerstown, Md., and Benjamin (Debra) Eby of Caldwell; a daughter, Thelma (John) Powell of Elida; one brother, Alvin (Elva) Horst of Clear Spring, Md.; four sisters, Rhoda Lehman of Chambersburg, Pa., Fannie Horst and Vera (Elvin) Hege, both of Hagerstown, Md., and Ruth (Martin) Burkholder of Greencastle, Pa.; 19 grandchildren; a very special foster grandchild, Arnesha Beasley, who was her constant companion and inspiration, and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Catherine Robinson, Esther McLaughlin and Alice Horst.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 16, at Clear Spring Mennonite Church, Clear Spring, Md., with Rev. Leonard Eby and Rev. John Brunk officiating. Burial will be in Clear Spring Cemetery in Maryland.
Calling hours are 7-9 p.m. Monday, June 13, at Harter & Schier Funeral Home in Delphos and from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 15,a t Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home in Clear Spring, Md.

BOROFF
KaCindra Capri Diane Boroff, 46, of Grover Hill, died at 11:20 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2005, at her residence.
She was born March 2, 1959, in Spokane, Wash., the daughter of Gloria (Johnson) DeVlieger, who survives in Northwood, Iowa, and the late Richard Stevens. She married Michael Garverson of Grover Hill, who survives.
Ms. Boroff was a homemaker.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by two sons, Steven (Heather) Boroff and Parrish (Jamie) Boroff, both of Van Wert; a daughter, Tabitha (Jerry) Siefker of Van Wert; two brothers, David Stevens of Manley, Iowa, and Darrenn Stevens of Seattle, Wash.; one sister, Theresa Stevens of Manley, and eight grandchildren.
There will be no public funeral services or viewing.
Arrangements were handled by Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert.

KILLION
Gerald L. “Jed” Killion, 83, of Van Wert, died at 1 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2005, at his residence.
He was born August 7, 1921, in Defiance, the son of the late Leonard and Leona (Keller) Killion. On November 6, 1942, he married Donna M. Casteel, who died March 2, 2004.
Mr. Killion was the former owner of Killion’s Jewelers in Van Wert. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert and had served as a pilot in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a former member of Elks Lodge 1197, American Legion Post 178, The Woods Golf Club and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, all in Van Wert.
Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Shinnabery and Debra (Larry) McClure, both of Van Wert, and Carol (John) Jones of Ohio City; two sisters, Betty Metz of Defiance and Janice (Rune) Martin of Colorado Springs, Colo.; six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Steve Killion, and two brothers, Dave and Bud Killion.
Private funeral services will be held, with military rites performed by the combined honor guards of Legion Post 178 and VFW Post 5803. Burial will take place in Florida.
There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Health Professionals-Hospice in Van Wert.

SHEETER
Ruth Sheeter, 60, of Delphos, died at 8:13 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2005, at Lima Memorial Hospital.
She was born October 25, 1944, in Fort Jennings, the daughter of the late Carl and Bertha (Kemper) Gasser. On July 3, 1965, she married John E. Sheeter, who survives in Delphos.
Mrs. Sheeter was the self-employed part owner of County Line Auto Wrecking and the past owner of County Line Gifts and Crafts. She was a deputy registrar for the License Bureau for 12 years. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos and a member of a bowling league. She was a 1962 graduate of Fort Jennings High School.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, John “Jay” (Doreen) Sheeter and Steve (Michelle) Sheeter, both of Delphos; a sister, Genevieve “Jen” (Richard) German of Fort Jennings; four brothers, James (Therese) Gasser, Thomas (Martha) Gasser and Stanley (Kathi) Gasser, all of Fort Jennings, and Carl (Marsha) Gasser of Delphos, and seven grandchildren, Ashley, Austin, Abbey, Addison, Taylor and Marissa Sheeter and Kristin Morris.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 18, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos, with Father Thomas Gorman officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Delphos..
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Thursday, June 16, and 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Friday, June 17, at Harter & Schier Funeral Home in Delphos, where a parish wake will be held at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

CLIFTON
Sylvia Marie Clifton, 83, of Van Wert, left to be with her Lord a 7:03 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2005, at Van Wert County Hospital following a brief illness.
She was born October 25, 1921, in Fort Wayne, Ind., the daughter of the late George and Stella (Ramm) Kloepper. On March 14, 1942, she married Doral William "Bud" Clifton, who died November 29, 2000.
Mrs. Clifton worked 27 years as a secretary at Federal-Mogul Corporation and was an expert stenographer and typist. She was a member of Calvary Evangelical Church, where she participated in the Crusaders Sunday School class and volunteered in the church office and for funeral dinners. She was a graduate of Central High School in Fort Wayne and loved music -- especially opera -- dancing, travel and family gatherings. She was an accomplished seamstress as well and made many of her own clothes, as well as clothes for her daughters and grandchildren. She had also made many quilts for her grandchildren and enjoyed interior decorating. Mrs. Clifton also had enjoyed lunches with her Federal-Mogul co-workers, including Gloris Ford, Eileen DuCheney, Helen Smith, Eddit Campton, Margaret Holland and Betty Vickery. Sylvia was a lover of birds and animals, especially her special dog "Champ."
Survivors include two daughters, Constance (Arthur) Fiock and Jill (Gary) Putman, both of Van Wert; five grandchildren, Trisha (Jon) Smith, Stacia (Brent) Barnhart, Shaun (Shawna) Putman, April (Jason) Gray and Christopher (Cari) Fiock, and 11 great-grandchildren, Kayla, Sydney, Grant and Skylar Fiock, Kolton, Addison and Elyanna Smith, Tanner, Kolby and Alexia Barnhart and Brynn Putman.
She was preceded in death by a son, Gary Allen Clifton, in 1946; one brother, Donald, who died in infancy, and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, June 17, at Calvary Evangelical Church in Van Wert, with Pastor Raymond E. Feeck officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 16, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert and an hour prior to services Friday at the church.
