TIPPIE
Velma I. (DeWitt) Tippie, 86, of Delphos, died at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2005, at Oak Grove Center in Deshler.
She was born April 16, 1919, in Delphos, the daughter of the late Albert Alvin and Rebecca Elizabeth (Evice) DeWitt. In 1963, she married Howard Lee Tippie, who died June 10, 1990.
Mrs. Tippie was a homemaker and a member of Delphos Wesleyan Church. She loved the Lord, reading the Bible and doing crossword puzzles.
Survivors include a son, Roger Lee Hartge of New Carlisle; two daughters, Carolyn Mae (Donald) Koehn of Peotone, Ill., and Ann Prichard of Perrysburg; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by 14 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Saturday, May 14, at Harter & Schier Funeral Home in Delphos, with the Rev. Wayne Prater officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Delphos.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 13, and from 9 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the funeral home.

SCHAADT
Ralph L. Schaadt, 74, of Van Wert, died at 12:36 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2005, at Van Wert Manor nursing home in Van Wert.
He was born September 26, 1930, in Ohio City, the son of the late Joseph and Fay (Duprey) Schaadt. On January 11, 1953, he married Helen Dunifon, who survives in Van Wert.
Mr. Schaadt was a retired lifetime farmer in Pleasant Township in Van Wert County. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, He was a member of American Legion Post 178 in Van Wert and a lifetime member of the local Disabled American Veterans chapter. He also belonged to the Ohio Farmers Union and Van Wert County Farm Bureau.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, David Lee Schaadt of Van Wert and Paul Eugene Schaadt of Fort Wayne, Ind.; two daughters, Joyce Buschor and Karen (Darryl) Banks, both of Van Wert; a brother, Gerald (Maxine) Schaadt of Rockford; one sister-in-law, Florine Schaadt of Ohio City, and three grandchildren, Ryan Bickle, Brandi Bowers and Megan Hartman.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Karl Schaadt.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 22, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Keith Stuck officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert, with military graveside services conducted by the combined honor units of Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803.
Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at the funeral home.

BELL
Kathryn Jean Bell, 86, of 1155 Professional Drive, Van Wert, died at 3:55 a.m. Thursday, May 19, 2005, at her residence.
She was born September 28, 1918, in Milan, Mich., the daughter of the late Rufus Biery and Alice (Duchee) Biery Seyer. On August 30, 1942, she married Clifford Eugene Bell, who died December 1, 2001.
Mrs. Bell was a retired school teacher at the Marsh Foundation School and Van Wert city and county schools. She also taught piano lessons for many years. She was a charter member of Calvary Evangelical Church in Van Wert and was a Sunday School teacher, Bible teacher, choir member and member of Martha Circle at the church. She was a graduate of Crawfis High School and Bowling Green State University and attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago.
Survivors include two sons, Dr. Randall E. (Carol) Bell of Orlando, Fla., and the Rev. Stephen B. (Valerie) Bell of Kildeer, Ill.; a daughter, Brenda J. (Daryle) Doden of Auburn, Ind.; 10 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Clarence Seyer, Rollin Biery and Harold Seyer, and two sisters, Evelyn Gustafson and Shirley Berron.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, May 23, at Calvary Evangelical Church in Van Wert, with Rev. Raymond E. Feeck officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Calling hours are 2-6 p.m. Sunday, May 22, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, and an hour prior to services Monday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Evangelical Church or Community Health Professionals Hospice program.
HAMMONS
Edwin H. "Eddie" Hammons, 89, of Delphos, died at 2:10 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2005, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.
He was born July 10, 1915, in Putnam County, the son of the late Harvey and Mary (Dunlap) Hammons. On July 15, 1938, he married Lucille Shafer, who died August 22, 1996.
Mr. Hammons was a truck driver for Ridge Stone Quarry as a road man and was a volunteer firefighter for the Middle Point Fire Department. He had also served on Middle Point Village Council.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty (Jim) Lane of Van Wert and Phyllis (William) Culver of Middle Point; one brother, Lewis (Margaret) Hammons of Van Wert; eight grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ralph Hammons; one daughter-in-law, Lora Hammons; two brothers, Barney and Walter Hammons; two sisters, Gladys Roush and Irma McGowen, and a grandson, John Adams.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 22, at Harter & Schier Funeral Home in Delphos, with the Rev. L. Cindy Lumm officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery near Middle Point.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at the funeral home.

GREEN
Marilyn E. (Goodenough) Green, 60, of Van Wert, died at 5 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2005, in an traffic accident at the intersection of U.S. 224 and Putnam County Road 119 near Kalida.
She was born January 9, 1945, in Defiance, the daughter of the late Theodore and Eleanor (Dangler) Goodenough.
Ms. Green provided health care for the elderly and owned Haven of Help, an assisted living home in Van Wert. She was a member of Trinity Friends Church in Van Wert and had written several books and was very interested in quilting.
Survivors include two sons, Blake Dolt of Oakwood and Ronnie L. (Pam) Laney of Van Wert; two daughters, Dena Dolt of Continental and Caitlyn Dolt, at home; a brother, Dana (Sandra) Goodenough of Van Wert, and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 24, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert. Burial will be in Blakeslee Cemetery in Charloe.
Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Monday, May 23, at the funeral home.

RICKETTS
Betty Jane (Feigert) Ricketts, 85, of 7426 Feasby-Wisner Road, Convoy, where she resided with her daughter, died at 10:27 p.m. Monday, May 2, 2005, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
She was born July 22, 1919, in Convoy, the daughter of the late Clair and Zenith (Krill) Hall. On January 15, 1942, she married Eugene Feigert, who died October 26, 1974. She then married Harold Ricketts in 1982 and he died September 2, 1989.
Mrs. Ricketts retired from the office at Kennedy Manufacturing Company in Van Wert and was also a librarian at the Brumback Library in Van Wert. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and was a past deaconess of the church. She was a Girl Scout leader and Cub Scout den mother for many years. She had attended The Ohio State University and New Mexico State College.
Survivors include a son, William “Bill” Feigert of Muskegon, Mich.; one daughter, Lyn (Wayne) Warren of Convoy; five grandchildren, Andrew Joseph Warren, Thomas William Warren, Elizabeth Jane Warren, Lance Corporal William Joseph Feigert II and Elizabeth Ruth Schnelle, and one great-grandchild, Andrew G. Warren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia St. John, and one brother, William Hall.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, May 6, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Dr. Edward Jillson officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Calling hours are 5-8 p.m. Thursday, May 5, at the funeral home.

BAER
Wendall Devon Baer, 46, of Salt Lake City, Utah, died at 6:03 p.m. Monday, May 2, 2005, at Avalon East Ridge Rehabilitation Center in Salt Lake City.
He was born September 9, 1958, in Van Wert, the son of Ilene M. (Hanefield) Baer of rural Van Wert and the late Perl Dean Baer. He never married.
Mr. Baer had worked as a paralegal and at Intermountain Furniture Manufacturing Company in Salt Lake City. He was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Harrison Township, Van Wert County. He attended Van Wert High School and earned a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Utah at Salt Lake City, as well as a paralegal certification from the University of San Diego, Calif.
In addition to his mother, survivors include two brothers, Daniel L. (Terri) Baer of Napoleon and Kevin E. (Holly) Baer of Van Wert.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 7, at St. Thomas Lutheran Church in rural Van Wert, with Pastor Timothy Simms officiating. Burial will follow at a later date in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church or Avalon East Ridge Rehabilitation Center in Salt Lake City.
