BOWEN
Ida E. Bowen, 88, of Wren, died at 2:35 p.m. Monday, December 16, 2002, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.
She was born December 11, 1914, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late David and Emma (Feigert) Schaadt. On January 4, 1936, she married Herman Gayle Bowen, who died on January 2, 1999.
Mrs. Bowen was a nurse's aide at Van Wert County Hospital and head of housekeeping at the former Holiday Inn in Van Wert. She was a member of Calvary Evangelical Church in Van Wert and the church's Gleaner's Sunday School class. She was a 1933 graduate of Wren High School and also belonged to the Wren Historical Society.
Survivors include four sons, Robert (Lucy) Bowen of Van Wert, Richard (Jill) Bowen and Frank (Cheryl) Bowen, both of Ohio City, and Stephen (Jane) Bowen of Rockford; a sister, Esther Beldon of Van Wert; 12 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Richard A. Bowen II and Krista J. Bowen.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Raymond E. Feeck officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Calling hours are 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

RIPLEY
Evelyn J. Ripley, 88, formerly of 220 Kenwick Drive, died at 7:20 p.m. Tuesday, December 17, 2002, at Convoy Care Center.
She was born April 25, 1914, in Plainfield, Iowa, the daughter of the late Edwin and Catherina (Smull) Smith. She married Marvin G. Ripley in 1940, and he died November 16, 1990.
Mrs. Ripley was a homemaker who attended United Church of Christ in Springfield.
Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Griffith of Van Wert; one son, Harold (Judy) Ripley of Shell Rock, Iowa; seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and seven sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly, Iowa. Burial will be in Willowlawn Cemetery in Plainfield, Iowa.
Calling hours are 5-8 p.m. Friday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert and an hour prior to services at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly, Iowa.

WOOD
Dorothy M. Wood, 81, of Payne, died at 7:38 p.m. Tuesday, December 17, 2002, at Paulding County Hospital, 2˝ hours after a two-vehicle crash on Ohio 49, three miles south of Payne.
She was born March 19, 1921, in Payne, the daughter of the late Homer and Gladys (Landrum) Price. She married Forest Wood, who died in 1979.
Mrs. Wood was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Donald Wood of St. Clairsville and Allan Wood of Delaware (Ohio); one daughter, Carole Overmyer of Payne, and a sister, June Rager of Payne.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Payne Church of Christ, with Richard Phelan officiating. Burial will be in Lehman Cemetery in Payne.
Calling hours are after 4 p.m. on Friday at Slade Funeral Home in Payne.

LAUSE
Ruth L. Lause, 81, of Delphos, died at 11 a.m. Friday, December 20, 2002, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.
She was born November 16, 1921, in Delphos, the daughter of the late Edward J. and Madeline (Eisenbeis) Lause. She never married.
Miss Lause was a saleswoman for 45 years at Shenks Store in Delphos and graduated from Delphos St. John's High School in 1939.
She is survived by a sister, Alice Ernst of Delphos, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Paul Ernst.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos, with Father Thomas Gorman officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Harter & Son Funeral Home in Delphos.
YAHN
Gloria K. Yahn, 63, of 903 Leeson Ave., died early Saturday morning, December 21, 2002, at her residence.
She was born September 28, 1939, in Van Wert, the daughter of the late Karl and Evelyn (Rase) Schmidt. On June 1, 1958, in Convoy, she married Ray A. Yahn, who died July 2, 2002.
Mrs. Yahn was a homemaker and avid seamstress who also worked in the office and library at Vantage Career Center in Van Wert. She was a member of Calvary Evangelical Church in Van Wert, was a member of the Builder's Sunday School class and helped in the nursery as well as on the Women Alive Committee. She was a member and held several offices in the Phi Beta Psi Sorority Cancer Foundation, was a member of the Schleroderma Foundation and was a past executive director of Campfire Inc. She also helped in organizing church services at Huggy Bear Campground.
Survivors include a son, Randy Yahn of Ohio City; one daughter, Teresa (Keith A.) Ream of Lima; a sister, Carole (Dan) Ehrler of Santa Monica, Calif., and two grandchildren, Parker Ray Clemens and Connor Ray Clemens.
She was preceded in death by a son, Nicholas Ned Yahn; one daughter, Rhonda Rae Yahn; one brother, Raymond Schmidt, who died in infancy, and a sister, Barbara Grunden.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Raymond Feeck officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City.

MAYER
Norman E. Mayer, 80, of Elida, died at 12:30 a.m. Saturday, December 21, 2002, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Delphos.
He was born March 6, 1922, in Lima, the son of the late Howard an Edith (Jones) Mayer. On May 3, 1947, he married Alice Mox, who survives in Delphos.
Mr. Mayer was a farmer and a machinist and supervisor at Ford Motor Co.'s Lima plant and retired from there after 26 years. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Delphos, Lima Farmers Club, Lima Elks Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6772 in Spencerville, Lima FOPA, Farm Bureau, Allen County Cattlemen's Association, was a member of the Allen County Republican Central Committee, the zoning appeals board and the Ohio State University Alumni Association. He graduated from Delphos Jefferson High School in 1939. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in World War II as an ordnance technician.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, David (Linda) Mayer of Elida; one daughter, Katherine (Steve) Brekhus of Florida; a brother Aurther G. Mayer of Florida; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Delphos, the Rev. William Schultz officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Harter & Son Funeral Home in Delphos and an hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

NEAL
Gertrude A. Calvelage Neal, 86, of Delphos, died at 12:50 p.m. Wednesday, December 25, 2002, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Delphos.
She was born April 15, 1916, in Delphos, the daughter of the late Henry and Elizabeth (Wrocklage) Krebs. She married Howard Neal, who died in 1993.
Mrs. Neal was a waitress at the Star Café in Delphos. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos, the Lioness Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and Eagles Auxiliary of Lima. She received many Lioness Club awards and awards for bowling. She loved to travel all over the United States and had a trailer at Hamilton Lake in Indiana for many years. She loved to fish.
Survivors include two sons, Fredrick (Ruth) Calvelage of Delphos and Robert (Betty) Calvelage of Fort Jennings; three daughters, Irma (Gene) Myers and Norma (James) Vonsasson, both of Fort Jennings, and Carol (Sigmund) Ricker of Delphos; a sister, Catherine Tippie of Delphos; 27 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Sylvester, Vincent and Carl Krebs, and a sister, Evelyn Krebs.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos, with Father Thomas Gorman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Friday at Harter & Son Memorial Chapel, where a wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
