FRIEDLY
Gladys B. Friedly, 92, of Rockford, went to be with Jesus at 1:35 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2005, at The Lakeland Nursing Center in Angola, Ind., where she had gone to be near her daughter and son-in-law.
She was born February 1, 1913, in Memphis, Tenn., the daughter of the late John Andrew and Alvina (Derr) Kimmel. She married Verl D. Friedly, who preceded her in death on May 1, 2000.
Mrs. Friedly was a homemaker and helped her husband with all the work on the farm. She was a member of Rockford United Methodist Church, formerly Grace United Methodist Church, of which she was a charter member, a Sunday School teacher and Bible School teacher for many years. She was also an avid gardener.
Survivors include two sons, Rev. Don (Janet) Friedly of Annadale, Va., and Tom Friedly of Delaware (Ohio); three daughters, Pat (Dr. Wilmer) Iler of Angola, Ind., Suzanne (Rev. Don) Dudgeon of Tampa, Fla., and Jen (Carl) Wilson of Potomac, Md.; a sister, Geraldine (Jerome) Koch of Englewood; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren.
She was precede in death by two sisters, and a great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 28, at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, with the Rev. Donald Friedly officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Rockford.
Viewing hours are 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 27, and an hour prior to services on Wednesday at the funeral home.

HARTMAN
Annie Grace Shank Hartman, 89, died at 10:45 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2005, at Lima Convalescent Center.
She was born March 15, 1916, in Mt. Crawford, Va., the daughter of the late James and Lydia (Lahman) Shank. On Febuary 9, 1941, at Weavers Mennonite Church in Harrisonburg, Va., she married Marvin Hartman, who survives.
Mrs. Hartman was a homemaker. She was a member of Pike Mennonite Church, where she was involved in the Sewing Circle and taught Bible school and Sunday School. She was known for her hospitality, often inviting guests to dinner. She was particularly known for her exceptional quilts and fine stitches. She began quilting as a teenager and continued her craft until a few years before her death. She always had a quilt in the frame and most often her quilts were given to family and donated to raise money for relief efforts of the Mennonite Central Committee. Along with quilting, she enjoyed fine dishes, gardening and making apple butter, along with canning fruits and vegetables. Her homemade chocolate fondant drops were a favorite with the family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
In addition to her husband, survivors include three sons, Dwayne (Dorothy) Hartman of Harrisonburg, Va., and Dwight (Ginny) Hartmand and Bill (LaVonne) Hartman, both of Elida; a daughter, Janet Hartman of Omaha, Neb.; five grandchildren, Toni (Preston) Hedrick, Tim Hartman, Kenric Hartman, Tina Hartman and Megan (Vince) Throngard, and one great-grandson, Drew Hartman.
She was preceded by four brothers, Archie James, Boyd and Byard Shank, and seven sisters, Bertha Beery, Lilly Shank, Mary Beery, Pearl Brenneman, Fannie Heatwole, Ada Shank and Olive Shank.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 27, at Pike Mennonite Church.

IVORY
Florence Pearl Ivory, 97, of Van Wert and formerly of Green Acres Drive in Springfield, died Saturday morning, September 24, 2005, in Van Wert.
She was born March 14, 1908, in Osgood, Ind., the daughter of the late Arthur E. and Amanda (Brown) Hancock. In 1924, she married Harley Kirkendall, and he preceded her in death in 1928. On December 31, 1938, she married William Ivory, who preceded her in death on December 23, 1994.
Mrs. Ivory retired from Wren's Department Store after 10 years of service.
Survivors include two grandchildren, Lori A. (Keith) Allen and Michael W. (Ann) Kirkendall, and four great-grandchildren, Katie and Jamie Allen and Amanda ad James Kirkendall, all of Van Wert.
She was preceded in death by a son, James Kirkendall; her daughter-in-law, Geneva Kirkendall, and four brothers, Joseph, Homer, Clarence and Lavern Hancock.
A Mass of Christian Burial wil be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 27, at St. Raphael Church in Springfield. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, also in Springfield.
Calling hours were 6-8 p.m. Monday at Convoy Funeral Home in Springfield.
ALBRIGHT
Margaret A. “Peg” Albright, 80, of Van Wert, died at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2005, at her residence.
She was born September 19, 1925, in Van Wert, the daughter of the late William G. and Lillian (Mac Dougall) McKeddie. On February 10, 1946, in Chicago, Ill., she married Charles Albright, who survives.
Mrs. Albright was a homemaker and a member of First Presbyterian Church in Van Wert. She was a member of the Van Wert Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, and worked with Reach for Recovery for more than 20 years. She also was a volunteer with the Van Wert County Chapter of the American Red Cross for more than 20 years.
In addition to her husband, survivors include four sons, Bill Albright and Jim Albright, both of Angola, Ind., Bob Albright of Defiance and Jack Albright of Van Wert; a stepsister, Pam Kaufman of Los Angeles, Calif.; 10 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack and Harry McKeddie.
Private family funeral services will be held, with burial in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
There will be no public viewing hours.

MANKEN
Marilyn M. Manken, 79, of 14150 Ohio 116, Van Wert, died at 5:25 a.m. Monday, September 26, 2005, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
She was born August 10, 1926, in Van Wert, the daughter of the late Herman R. and Frances C. (Fisher) Miller. On September 14, 1947, she married Gerald I. “Bud” Manken, who survives in Van Wert.
Mrs. Manken was a homemaker and had formerly worked at Continental Can Company in Van Wert. She was a life member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Van Wert and had been a member of the Lady Board of Managers of Van Wert County Hospital.
In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Mary (Michael) Pelton of Van Wert; two sisters, Betty (Bill) Morehead of Convoy and Carol (Kenneth) Doner of Van Wert, and four grandchildren, Emily and Jordan Pelton and Ella and Kayla Manken.
She was preceded in death by a son, Michael A. Manken; one brother, Richard L. Miller, and a sister, Ruth Joseph.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, September 30, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. William Haggis II officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Viewing hours are 2-8 p.m. Thursday, September 29, at the funeral home.

VANTILBURG
Joan VanTilburg, 76, of Rockford, died at 3:40 a.m. Monday, September 26, 2005, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.
She was born November 25, 1928, the daughter of the late Frederick Martin and Sarah Leota Blossom VanTilburg.
Miss VanTilburg retired in 1986 from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in St. Marys with more than 30 years of service. She was a member of Rockford United Methodist Church, Shanes Crossing Historical Society and was active in United Rubber Workers Local 200 in St. Marys.
Survivors include a sister, Betty Rutledge of Rockford; six nieces, and five nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie Emans, and four brothers, Carl, Robert, Donald and Tim VanTilburg.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, September 29, at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, with the Rev. Paul Rutledge officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Rockford.
Viewing hours are 3-5 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 28, and an hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.

RUMBLE
Ray F. Rumble, 77, of Scott, died at 6:13 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2005, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was born June 14, 1927, in Van Wert County, the son of the late Bruce G. and Leota (Unger) Rumble. On November 1, 1947, he married Donnabelle Grandstaff, who survives at their residence.
Mr. Rumble was a retired lifetime farmer. He was a 1945 graduate of Hoaglin-Jackson High School, served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Winged Arrow in the Pacific Theatre during World War II, was a member of the Van Wert County Farm Bureau, a life member of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both in Van Wert, and a member of Scott Equity.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Lloyd (Diane) Rumble of Greenfield, Wis.; one sister, Ruth Ashton of Reading, Mich., and a grandson, Matthew Rumble of Greenfield.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nola Jean Rumble, and one brother, Bruce Rumble.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Ronald E. Lumm officiating. Burial will be in Mohr Cemetery in rural Van Wert, with graveside military services by the combined honor units of VFW Post 5803 and Legion Post 178.
