88, of Van Wert, died at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2003, at Vancrest Health Care Center, Van Wert, Ohio. She was born January 30, 1915, in Putnam County, Ohio, the daughter of Lucy Ann (Post) and Jason Stephen Agner. She married October 06, 1940 to C. Graydon Gribler who preceeded her in death on January 10, 1989. Mrs. Gribler was a Homemaker. A member of the First United Methodist Church, The United Methodis Women of the Church of which she had served many years as secretary, The First United Methodist "Joy Bunch", The Pal-O-Mine Club, and hte Hoaglin Jackson Sunrise Club. She is survived by two daughters, Ann (Harold) Zinsmeister of Spencerville, Ohio, Cheryl (Carlos) Baker of Van Wert, Ohio, one son, Alan (Lisa) Gribler of Ashville, Ohio, seven grandchildren, Gregory Zinsmeister of Lima, Ohio, Marc Baker of Convoy, Ohio, Amy Edgington of Lima, Ohio, Steve Baker of Van Wert, Ohio, Angela Bigham of Ohio City, Ohio, Matthew Gribler of Ashville, Ohio, Troy Gribler of Ashville, Ohio, one brother, James Agner of Monroe, Ohio, and 14 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2003 at Brickner Funeral Home, with Rev. Paul Miller officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert. Calling hours will be from 2-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2003 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made on behalf of Mr. Keipper to the First United Methodist church.
Ellen Rae Pugh
March 10, 1947 - August 22, 2002
Ellen Rae Pugh, 55, of Van Wert, died at 8:45 p.m. Thursday, August 22, 2002, at the Van Wert County Hospital, Van Wert, Ohio. She was born March 10, 1947, in Van Wert, the daughter of the late Adrian and Jeanette (Riley) Pugh. Ms. Pugh was a retired telephone operator for the former United Telephone Company. Survivors include several aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday August 26, 2002 at Woodland Cemetery, the Rev. Jobe Stagner fficiating. Burial will be Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert. There will be no visitation.
E. McGUIRE (Mickey) WEAVER
October 29, 1921 - July , 2004
Born in Richmond Kentucky to Clifton and Lona (McGuire) Weaver on Oct. 29, 1921. Mr. Weaver moved to Van Wert in the 1920's and graduated from Van Wert High School in 1940. He was a beekeeper and farmer. He was a veteran of WW 2 and served in the U S Army in Great Britain and France. He was a 50 year Mason. He was also a member of American Legion Post 178, VFW Post 5803 and the Farm Bureau. At one time, he was a reserve deputy for the Van Wert County Sheriff's Department. As a member of the Van Wert County Democatic Central Committee, he was actively involved in the 1960 election of President John F. Kennedy and attended his inauguration. He wintered in Bradenton, FL for over 50 years and resided at Two Rivers Mobile Home Park where he served for a time as the park manager.
In 1944, he married Coryl (Shaw) who died in 1987. On July 28, 1996 he married Jean (Baltzell) Elder survives in Van Wert. 3 Step-daughters, Mary Ann Elder, Bradenton, FL.,Mrs. Betty Jean (John) Ingman, Longwood, FL., and Mrs. Janie (Charlie) Kennedy of Van Wert. Eight step grandchildren and thirteen Step Grandchildren. Other survivors include a nephew, Douglas McGuire Weaver, Grand-nephews, Seth and Evan Weaver, all of Deland, FL. Niece, Tammy Ann Barrow, Grand-niece, Maria McKay: and Sister-in-law, Ruby Weaver, all of Ellenton, FL.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at Woodland Cemetery with Rev. Rick Birk officiating. There will be no calling. Military graveside services will also be held by the Combined Honors Unit of VFW Post 5803 and American Legion Post 178.
EMMA G. SCHOONOVER TYLER
MAY 11, 1916 - AUGUST 18, 2004
88, of Van Wert, died at 3 a.m. Wednesday, August 18, 2004, at Van Wert Manor nursing home in Van Wert.
She was born May 11, 1916, in Paulding County, the daughter of the late Henry F. and Rebecca Jane (Miller) Taylor. In 1933, she married Frank Russell Schoonover, who preceded her in death in 1966. On March 31, 1947, she married Clifford Leo Tyler Sr., who died in 1987.
Mrs. Tyler was a cook at Carl Wright's and Conrad's truck stops in Van Wert and also at Van Wert County Hospital. She attended Trinity Friends Church in Van Wert.
Survivors include four sons, Frank (Lois) Schoonover Jr., Lawrence (Beverly) Schoonover, Thomas (Mary) Tyler and Clifford (Penny) Tyler Jr.; three daughters, Gloria Felger, Carolyn (Steve) Murphy and Emma (Wade) Raines; 22 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Jake, Roy, Frank, Ruben and Francis Taylor; six sisters, Iva Hofacker, Mary Swygert, Naomi Morgan, Elva Wolford, Ruth Moore and Opal Reichert, and two grandsons, Brent Lee and Brian Lee Felger.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 21, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Neil Hammons officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery near Middle Point.
Calling hours are 3-8 p.m. Friday, August 20, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Health Professionals-Hospice.
ERMA C. BLACK

73, of Montgomery, Mich., and formerly of Van Wert, died at 11:10 a.m. Friday, October 3, 2003, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo, Mich. She was born February 8, 1930, in Hoaglin Township, Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Glenn and Bertha (Maxwell) Jackson. She married Richard Black, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Black was a homemaker. Survivors include a sister, Mildred Keith of Coldwater, Mich., and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harvey G. and Alford L. Jackson. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery in Ridge Township. Calling hours are 2-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

83, of Van Wert, died at 9:50 a.m. Sunday, September 28, 2003, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert. He was born June 24, 1920, in Hoaglin Township, Van Wert County, the son of the late George and Stella Mae (Emmans) Height. His wife of 53 years, Erma Ruth (Voyles) Height, survives in Van Wert. Mr. Height was a retired employee of the former Continental Can Company of Van Wert. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the South Pacific Area of Operations during World War II. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803 in Van Wert. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Penny R. Thompson and Brenda J. Riley, both of Van Wert, Carolyn Kay Firestone of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Nancy S. Raser of Parma, Mich.; a son, Patrick W. Height of Scottsdale, Ky.; one brother, Leroy "Ted" Height of Van Wert, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Courtney James Cosgrove and Elvin Arnold Height II; 13 brothers and sisters, and a grandson, Andrew John Raser. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Brickner Funeral Home, where military rites will be conducted by the combined honors unit of American Legion Post 178 and VFW Post 5803. The Rev. Paul W. Miller will officiate. Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Ernestine J. "Ernie" Potter
January 15, 1921 - February 24, 2002
80, of Convoy, died at 6:48 p.m. Sunday, February 24, 2002, at Convoy Care Center. She was born Jan. 15, 1921, in Defiance, the daughter of the late Curtis and Florence I. (McCavitt) Dunmire. In March 1961, she married James Potter Sr. who died June 16, 1999. Mrs. Potter graduated from Monroeville (Ind.) High School and, after a short stay in Fort Wayne, Ind., owned and operated -- along with Tommy Taylor -- the State Gardens in Middlebury until 1959. She then became manager of the Gaucho Room at the Hotel Van Orman in Fort Wayne and also later managed the Sands Supper Club and Zoli's Cowboy in Fort Wayne. She retired to Ocala, Fla., in 1991, but returned to the Convoy area in 1997. Survivors include a son, Thomas M. Taylor of Fort Wayne; a daughter, Sandra J. Taylor of Convoy; a stepson, James Potter Jr. of Westerville; a stepdaughter, Pamela Sites of Van Wert; two sisters, Donna Coquillard and Mary Jane O'Brien, both of Fort Wayne; a brother, Kenneth Dunmire of Van Wert; nine grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a stepson, Ronald E. Potter, and a brother, Robert Dunmire. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert. Calling hours are from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday and an hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home. Preferred memorial is Convoy Care Center.
