Marilyn (Maag) Marxen Motycka

77, of Van Wert, died Saturday, April 12, 2003, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind. She was born June 20, 1925, in Lakewood, the daughter of the late Clinton and Helen (Fugate) Maag. She was first married to the late Dr. Norman Marxen, from 1948-1968, and then to the late Frank Motycka, from 1979-1987. Mrs. Motycka was a registered nurse, graduating from White Cross Hospital in Columbus. She was a supervisor of nursing for Van Wert County Hospital and a longtime director of nursing at Van Wert Manor nursing home. Survivors include two sons, Dr. Jeffrey Marxen of San Diego, Calif., and Dr. Thomas Marxen of Seattle, Wash.; two daughters, Dr. Pamela Marxen Kelly of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Karen Sondrol of Muscatine, Iowa; four stepsons, Frank Motycka of Houston, Texas, Rick Motycka of Midland, Texas, Dr. Tom Motycka of Chapin, S.C., and Mike Motycka of Middle Point; 13 grandchildren, and six stepgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Clinton Maag. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, the Rev. Paul Miller officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery in Columbus. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert.
Mark A. Hiser Sr.
May 23, 1961 - September 25, 2004
43, of Van Wert, died at 10:18 a.m. Saturday, September 25, 2004, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.
He was born May 23, 1961, in Van Wert, the son of the late Kenneth and Lucille (Friemoth) Allen. He was adopted and raised by Richard and Eva Hiser, who survive in Florida.
Prior to his disability, he had been employed in plastics manufacturing. He was a graduate of Fairview High School in Defiance County and had served in the military police in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his fiancée, Marlen Grieshaber of Van Wert; two sons, Mark A. Hiser Jr. of Florida and Dustin (Jess Phinney) Hiser of Lima; a daughter, Tara (Shane) Waltmire of Van Wert; for brothers, Keith (Lori) Allen, Kevin (Debra Bashore) Allen and Jerry Allen, all of Van Wert, and Paul (Cathy) Hiser of Martinsville, Ind.; seven sisters, Barbara (Steve) Miller of Decatur, Ind., Diana (Jeff) Kessler of Defiance, Donna Perry of Van Wert, Karen (Mark) Raudabaugh of Latty, Kathy Zanes of Cleveland, Ruth (Gary) Hook of Lima and Karen Evans; two granddaughters, Courtney Waltmire of Van Wert and Chelsa Hiser of Florida, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 28, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert.
Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Marilyn S. Webster

62, of Blue Creek and formerly of Van Wert County, died at 10:10 a.m. Sunday, December 28, 2003, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima. She was born December 4, 1941, in Scott, the daughter of Helen P. (Routt) Taylor, who survives in Scott, and the late William F. Taylor. On June 14, 1958, in Scott, she married Clarence Webster Jr., who survives at home. Mrs. Webster had attended Harvest Fields Pentecostal Church of God in Scott. She was a member of the Nile Township Fire Department Auxiliary and was also a member of the Women of the Moose. In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by a son, Clarence (Lori) Webster III of Scott; one daughter, Rhonda (Clifford) Dasher of Grover Hill; a sister, Jane Dyson of Paulding, and several grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 30, at Harvest Field Pentecostal Church of God in Scott, with the Rev. Terry Martin officiating. Burial will be in Taylor Cemetery in Cavett. Calling hours are 2-9 p.m. Monday, December 29, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, and an hour prior to services Tuesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made on behalf of Mrs. Webster to a charity of donor's choice.
Marlene K. Garrison

Marlene K. Garrison, 78, of Waverly, died at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, May 19, 2002, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert. She was born Feb. 28, 1924, in Williamsport, the daughter of the late Marcus B. and Elizabeth (Wright) Ebenhack. On June 19, 1946, she married Merton C. Garrison, who died in 1995. Mrs. Garrison was a retired employee of the U.S. Postal Service in Clarksburg. Survivors include a son, Terrence (Patricia) Garrison of St. Paris; two daughters, Elizabeth M. Howison of Waverly and Rebecca Sue (George) Suvar of Scott; six grandchildren, Emily Garrison, Seth Garrison and Ben Suvar, all of Columbus, Nathan Garrison of Bowling Green, and Paul and Sam Suvar, both of Scott, and one brother, L.V. (Pauline) Ebenhack of Waverly. She was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Miller, and three brothers, Emmitt, Marcus and Charles Ebenhack. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Brown Chapel Cemetery in Ross County, the Rev. William Sherry officiating. There will be no calling hours. Funeral arrangements were made by Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert.
Marjorie P. VanTilburg
February 16, 1916 - May 26, 2003
87, of Van Wert, died at 2:25 p.m. Monday, May 26, 2003, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert. She was born February 16, 1916, in Paulding County, the daughter of the late Colonel and Pearl (Staples) Stover. She was first married to Cleo Shivley, who preceded her in death. She then married Don VanTilburg, who also preceded her in death. Mrs. VanTilburg was a homemaker and a member of Jennings Road Church of Christ in Van Wert. Survivors include three sons, Bud L. (Pat) Shivley of Convoy, Ronald C. (Joan) Shivley of Ossian, Ind., and Gordon K. (Velma) Shivley of Delphos; one daughter, Beth A. (Richard) Lininger of Van Wert; a sister, Mildred Horner of Bradenton, Fla.; 12 grandchildren, Jan Edwards, Sheri Tindall, Tammy Miller and Karissa Rutkowski, all of Van Wert, Jill Diller, Craig Shivley and Pam Motycka, all of Convoy, Lori Cottrell of Antwerp, Julie Woods and Amy Hoback, both of Lima, Tom Lininger of Columbus and Erin Culler of Maumee; 25 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Gladys Zimmerman and Dorothy Malston, and two brothers, Wilbur and Ralph Stover. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at Brickner Funeral Home, the Rev. David Ray officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery in Middle Point. MARTHA JANE YOUNG

74, of Van Wert, died at 2:08 a.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2004, at her residence. She was born February 14, 1930, in Van Wert, the daughter of the late Cale and Velma (Manken) Tomlinson. On May 11, 1949, she married Ervin N. Young, who survives in Van Wert. Mrs. Young retired from Van Wert County Hospital in 1992 after 26 years of service. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Van Wert and was an active participant in the Van Wert County Unit of the American Cancer's Society's Relay for Life fundraiser. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Timothy N. (Kathy) Young of Fort Wayne, Ind., K. David (Connie) Young of Middle Point and Jeffery M. (Kari) Young of Van Wert; two daughters, Cindy E. (Michael) Kohorst and Melanie L. (David) Mace, both of Van Wert; six grandchildren, Emily Young, Zachary (Misty) Young, Mandy M. (Bill) Hemming, Justin M. Kohorst, Kellie M. Mace and Hanna L. Young; a great-granddaughter, Gianna R. Hemming, and an additional survivor, Beth Young of Holland, Mich. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Rebecca Janeene Young. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 12, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Doug Stockton officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery near Middle Point. Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. 83, of Tucson, AZ., died Thursday, October 24, 2002, at Tucson Medical Center, Tucson, AZ.. She was born April 22, 1919, in Ohio., the daughter of the late John and Anna (Hirsch) Horther. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Cowgill of Tucson, AZ., and her son, Roger Cowgill of Tucson, Az., and a cousin Nora (Paul) Scott of Van Wert, Ohio. She was a former employee of the Van Wert County Auditors Office, where she served for 10 years. She was a member fo the Furst United Methodist Church in Van Wert.
Services will be 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, October 30, 2002, at Brickner Funeral Home, with
Rev. James C. Dunaway Officiating. Burial at Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.
Visitaion will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 29, 2002, from 2:00 - 6:00 P.M.
