WHEELER
Fredric W. Wheeler, 78, of 11210 Ohio 118, Van Wert, died early Wednesday evening, December 10, 2003, at his residence.
He was born December 26, 1924, in Huntington, Ind., the son of the late Melvin and Hazel M. (Gierhart) Wheeler. On November 1, 1947, he married Ilene J. Crow, who died January 16, 2000.
Mr. Wheeler retired from Continental Can Company of Van Wert in 1987 and also operated Wheeler Sharpening Service. He was a member of First Church of God in Van Wert. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and is a member of American Legion Post 178 in Van Wert.
Survivors include two sons, Dennis A. Wheeler of Van Wert and Jeffery (Sharon) Wheeler of Van Wert; two daughters, Janet (Steven) Mack of Van Wert and Ila (Richard) Rumple of Decatur, Ind.; three brothers, Melvin (Joan) wheeler of Decatur, Lloyd Wheeler of Riverview, Fla., and Lawrence Wheeler of Portland, Ore.; three sisters, Pauline Proklevich of Brandon, Fla., Violet (Gordon) Kimmey of Valrica, Fla., and Mary (Ray) Hingson of Pinellas Park, Fla.; six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Wheeler, and two sisters, Ruth Wurst and Bernadine Wheeler.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, December 14, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. William Jeffress officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert, where military graveside services will be performed by the combined honor guards of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803 in Van Wert.
Calling hours are from 3-8 p.m. Saturday, December 13, at the funeral home.

HILL
Dana D. Hill, 71, of Van Wert, went to be with the Lord at 5:30 a.m. Thursday, December 11, 2003, at her residence.
She was born February 4, 1932, in Rose Hill, Va., the daughter of the late Clyde and Hattie (Lee) Maness. On May 4, 1949, in Middlesboro, Ky., she married Henry P. Hill, who died June 22, 1997.
Mrs. Hill was a homemaker and a member of the Church of the Pentecost in Van Wert. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved her Lord and family and enjoyed quilting and gardening.
Survivors include a son, Larry W. Hill of Van Wert; two daughters, Sherry (Paul) Colter and Janet (Ken) Bell, both of Van Wert; five brothers, Jess (Jean) Maness of Bowie, Md., Landon (Betty) Maness of Newport News, Va., Leamon (Shirley) Maness and Ben (Erika) Maness, both of Richmond, Va., and David (Joyce) Maness of Marion, Va.; a half-brother, William (Omalee) Maness of Mentor; four sisters, Jewell (Woodrow) Posey of Russellville, Ala., Betty Jo (John) Laws of Pineville, Ky., Patricia Ann (Carl) Conn of Mentor, and Carolyn (Rev. Ron) Gilbert of Abingdon, Va.; a half-sister, Claire Collier of Columbus; one stepsister, Clara (Kennon) Roark of Barbourville, Ky.; two grandchildren, Stuart Bell of St. Louis, Mo., and Becky (Aaron) White of Lima, and a great-grandson, Ethan M. White of Lima.
She was preceded in death by a half-brother, Kyle Maness.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, December 13, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Beecher Cole officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
There will be private family calling hours.

ADAMS
Verda Crates Adams, 89, of Elida, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 5:30 a.m. Friday, December 12, 2003, at her residence.
She was born April 30, 1914, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Noah and Louella (Fawcet) Ashbaugh. In 1933, she married Otto Crates, who died in 1983. She then married Ernest Adams, who died in 1994.
Mrs. Adams was a homemaker and a member of Gomer United Church of Christ. She graduated from Hoaglin-Jackson High School in 1932. She enjoyed reading and her family.
Survivors include three daughters, Barbara (David) Young of Columbus Grove, Carolyn (Don) Bridges of Elida and Marilyn (Bob) Elder of Convoy; four stepchildren, Glen (Nancy) Adams of Gomer, Eloise (Bob) Buettner and Floyd (Maddie) Adams, both of Elida, and Norman (Glen) Hayes of Lima; nine grandchildren; 12 stepgrandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren, and 25 stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two stepgrandchildren, a stepgreat-grandchild and two half-brothers.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 15, at Gomer Church of Christ, the Rev. Brian Knoderer officiating. Burial will be in Pike Run Cemetery.
Calling hours are from 2-9 p.m. Sunday, November 14, at Harter & Son Funeral Home in Delphos and an hour prior to services Monday at the church.

PAVEL
Lowell E. "Topp" Pavel, 67, of Delphos, died at 5:25 a.m. Saturday, December 13, 2003, at his residence.
He was born January 8, 1936, in Delphos, the son of the late Frank and Ethel (Taylor) Pavel.. On May 5, 1956, he married Caroline "Tiny" Hoffman, who survives in Delphos.
Mr. Pavel worked at Delphos Manufacturing and part-time for the City Green Thumb program. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Ron (Linda) Pavel of Leipsic and Keith Pavel of Chillicothe; a daughter, Janet (Vernie) Gales of Spencerville; one brother, Leon Pavel of Rushmore; six grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Gregory and Gordon Pavel, and two brothers, Larry and Leonard Pavel.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, December 15, at Harter & Son Memorial Chapel in Delphos, the Rev. Wayne Prater officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Delphos, with military graveside rites by the Delphos Veterans Council.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, December 14, at the funeral home.

STORCK
Rhelda M. Storck, 65, of Van Wert, died at 9:40 a.m. Monday, December 15, 2003, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.
She was born April 8, 1938, in North Hampton, the daughter of the late Arthur G. and N. Foreign (Rigg) Clark. On April 9, 1960, she married Rodger W. Storck, who died on February 20, 1985.
Mrs. Storck had been the office secretary for 17 years at Calvary Evangelical Church in Van Wert and had also worked at the former Freund's Nursery in Van Wert. She was a member of Calvary Evangelical Church and was involved in the AWANA program there and also was a former 4-H leader.
Survivors include two daughters, Rhonda (Todd) Ladd of Delphi, Ind., and Robyn (Jeff) Bender of Fort Wayne, Ind.; three brothers, Richard Clark of North Caroline, Ronald Clark of Exton, Pa., and Roger Clark of Columbus, and one grandson, Jordan Ladd.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 18, at Calvary Evangelical Church in Van Wert, the Rev. Raymond Feeck officiating. Burial will be in Venedocia Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 17, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert and an hour prior to services at the church.

FISHER
Marcia Louise Fisher, 81, of Van Wert, died at 8:23 p.m. Monday, December 15, 2003, at Van Wert County Hospital.
She was born January 7, 1922, in Van Wert, the daughter of the late John Willard and Elsie (Fanaff) Sherman. On December 21, 1940, she married Harry E. Fisher, who died August 24, 1988.
Mrs. Fisher was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and its Dorcas Circle.
Survivors include three sons, Lester (Kaetta) Raker of Winchester, Va., Jerry (Judy) Fisher of Van Wert and David (Mary) Fisher of Cecil; three daughters, Connie (Steven) Sloan of Wauseon, Cathy (Dennis) Dice of Marysville and Brenda (Steve) Harper of Bellevue; a daughter-in-law, Judy Fisher; two brothers, Robert Sherman of Van Wert and Roger Sherman of Walbridge; two sisters, Marcille Krick of Mendon and Maxine Powell of Defiance; 20 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Tom Fisher; one grandchild, and two brothers, Paul Sherman and L.W. "Mutt" Sherman.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 19, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Joachim Wilck officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

KLINE
Christine L. Kline, 84, of 106 N. Shane St., Ohio City, died at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2003, at Van Wert County Hospital.
She was born November 25, 1919, in Willshire, the daughter of the late LeRoy and Mary A. (Kline) Painter. On May 9, 1939, she married Richard Dale Kline, who died September 25, 1979.
Mrs. Kline had worked at the Van Wert Cigar Company and Kohn's Korner in Ohio City. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Ohio City and Hyler Chapter 432, Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include a son, Dan J. (Nancy) Kline of Fort Wayne, Ind.; one daughter, Kay (Paul) Nichols of Garrettsville; two sisters, Janet (Kenneth) Speelman of Scott and Barbara (Clifford) VanWald of Willshire; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Tucker, Rebecca Traggiai and Jason Kline, and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kim Elaine Kline; four brothers, Cleo, Charles, Eugene and James Painter; four sisters, Margaret Rose Painter, Devona Shell, Katherine Henschew and Martha Foreman, and a great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 20, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor Denise Brown officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City.
