MINNIG
Kathryn M. Minnig, 89, of Delphos, died at 8:30 p.m. Friday, December 19, 2003, at her residence.
She was born September 12, 1914, in Fort Jennings, the daughter of the late Charles and Loretta (German) Calvelage. On October 12, 1939, she married Cyril N. Minnig, who died in 1981.
Mrs. Minnig was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John the Evangelistic Catholic Church in Delphos.
Survivors include a son, John P. (Florence) Minnig of Eglon, W.Va.; two daughters, Sue E. Grone of Milford and Kathy A. (Larry) Fought of Delphos; five grandchildren, Kim Piffer, Cherry Minnig, Scott Fought, Faith Zenker and Stephen Grone, and four great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 27, at St. John the Evangelistic Catholic Church in Delphos, with Father Thomas Gorman officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Delphos.
Calling hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, December 26, at Harter & Son Funeral Home in Delphos, where a parish wake service will be held at 7:45 that evening.

COBB
Mildred A Cobb, 97, of Bradenton, Fla., and formerly of Van Wert, died at 2 a.m. Friday, December 19, 2003, at Casa Mora Rehabilitation in Bradenton.
She was born January 18, 1906, in Leipsic, the daughter of the late John O. and Mallie (Miller) Bowden. On April 4, 1923, she married Forrest H. Cobb, who died in 1989.
Mrs. Cobb was a retired employee of the former Van Wert Manufacturing Company, and a lifelong member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Van Wert.
She is survived by a son, Roger Cobb of Bradenton; one sister, Catherine Yarger of Port Huron, Mich., and five grandchildren, Donna Conley of West Jefferson, David Cobb of Johnstown, Christine Burtch of Big Rapids, Mich., Bruce Cobb and Cindy Nelson.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Howard Cobb and David Cobb, who died in infancy; three brothers; four sisters, and three grandchildren, Susan Read, Jeffrey Cobb and Forrest “Woody” Cobb.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday, December 26, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Joachim Wilck officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Calling hours are from 10 a.m.-noon Friday, December 26, at the funeral home.

SPRY
H. Luetta Spry, 94, of Van Wert, died at 7:25 a.m. Tuesday, December 2, 2003, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.
She was born July 24, 1909, in Tully Township, Van Wert County, the daughter of the late James and Lillian (Shanefelt) Foley. On October 30, 1926, she married William Spry, who died April 19, 1986.
Mrs. Spry retired from Van Wert Manufacturing after 26 years of service. She was a member of First United Brethren in Christ Church in Van Wert and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803 and American Legion Post 178 auxiliaries.
Survivors include two children, Harold "Jack" (Norma) Spry and Donald (Virginia) Spry, both of Van Wert; six grandchildren, and many great- and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Orval, Henry, Jack and Lawrence Foley, and three sisters, Wilma Murphy, Othel Foley and Hazel Foley.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 5, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Paul Miller officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Convoy.
Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Thursday, December 4, at the funeral home, where a VFW Auxiliary memorial service will be held at 7 that evening.

SMITH
Matilda E. "Tillie" Smith, 86, of 650 Golden Oaks, Van Wert, died at 4:20 a.m. Tuesday, December 2, 2003, at Dupont Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind.
She was born July 26, 1917, in Hoaglin Township, Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Albertus "Bert" and Caroline (Akom) Bashore. In January 4, 1942, she married Harold Edward Smith, who died June 28, 1978.
Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and health care worker at Van Wert Manor nursing home for 26 years. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Ohio City and a church women's aide. She was a 1936 graduate of Hoaglin-Jackson High School and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Ohio City.
Survivors include a son, Ronald E. (Stephanie) Smith of Fort Wayne; one brother, Christie F. (Juanita) Bashore of Rockford; four sisters, Alta (Gale) Zinn, Louise Leiter and Alice Thomas, all of Van Wert, and Thelma Neuhauser of Markle, Ind., and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Johnnie A. Bashore.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, December 5, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor Denise Brown officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, December 4, at the funeral home.

WOOD
Harold F. Wood, 88, of Payne, died Tuesday, December 2, 2003, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was born July 1, 1915, in Payne, the son of the late Marion Franklin and Lucy (Lilves) Wood. On August 15, 1943, he married his wife, Ruth, who survives at home.
Mr. Wood was a retired farmer and was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Payne Church of Christ; Flat Rock Lodge 580, Free and Accepted Masons; Hesperian Chapter 281, Order of Eastern Star, and American Legion Post 297, all of Payne, andVan Wert County Chapter of Disabled American Veterans in Van Wert. He was a past eminent prior of the Knights York Cross Priory of Ohio and also belonged to the Scottish Rite of Toledo and Zenobia Shrine of Toledo -- all York Rite bodies -- as well as many other Masonic organizations.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, David Wood of South Bend, Ind.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 6, at Payne Church of Christ, with Richard Phelan officiating. Burial will be in Lehman Cemetery in Payne, with military rites performed by American Legion Post 297 in Payne.
Calling hours are after 4 p.m. Friday, December 5, at Slade Funeral Home in Payne, where a Masonic service will be held at 8 that evening.

TYNER
Nicholas Paul and William Daniel Tyner, infant sons of Aaron Tyner and Wendy (Lichtenberger) Hoening of Bristol, Ind., died at 12:52 and 12:59 a.m. respectively, Sunday, December 21, 2003, at Goshen (Indiana) General Hospital.
In addition to their parents, they are survived by two sisters, Jasmine Lichtenberger and Emry Hoening, at home; grandparents Dan and Lori Tyner of Larwell, Ind., Rex and Connie Jennings of Warren, Ind., Stan and Jenny Lichtenberger of Van Wert, and Sue Lichtenberger of Ft Wayne, Ind.; great-grandparents Max and Marge Tyner of Bluffton, Ind., Jim and Donna Leas of Montpelier, Ind., and John and Wilma Lichtenberger of Wren, and an uncle, Jon Lichtenberger of Ft. Wayne.
A graveside service was held December 30 at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Huntington, Ind., officiated by Pastor Charles Dye Jr.
Glancy Funeral Homes, H. Brown & Son Chapel in Warren, handled the arrangements.

HORSTMAN
Patricia A. Carter Horstman, 81, of Ottoville, died at 8:32 a.m. Monday, December 22, 2003, at Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus.
She was born October 29, 1922, the daughter of the late Theodore Franklin and Ruby Marcille (Pennell) Adams. On June 21, 1942, she married Carl Eugene "Gene" Carter, who died March 1, 1989. On June 20, 1992, she married Elmer Horstman, who survives in Ottoville.
Mrs. Horstman retired from Aeroquip (Eaton) Corporation in Van Wert in 1982 after 29 years of service. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Van Wert, and was a 1940 graduate of Ohio City-Liberty High School. She was also a member of the Aeroquip Women's Retirement Club and a former member of the Van Wert County Genealogical Society.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Ted A. (Marge) Carter of Van Wert; four daughters, Carla J. (Jerry) Doner, Nancy R. (Charles) Darris and Rhonda L. (Larry) Gibson, all of Van Wert, and Brenda L. (Eric) Agler of Hamilton; three stepsons, Dan (Lynn) Horstman, Ron (Jan) Horstman and Nick (Jane) Horstman, all of Ottoville; six stepdaughters, Linda (Karl) Boecker and Karen (Don) Schnipke, both of Cloverdale, Joyce (Larry) Miller and Nancy (Larry) Kroeger, both of Landeck; Donna (Tom) Schimmoller of Ottoville and Janice (Mark) Bendele of Kalida; a sister, Joanne Cox Hayes of Columbus Grove; 41 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Patton, and a grandson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 27, at Wesley United Methodist Church in Van Wert, the Rev. Douglas Stockton and Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Calling hours are 2-9 p.m. Friday, December 26, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert and an hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
