BUEL
Brooks Buel, 93, of 203 Buckeye St., Rockford, died at 10:10 a.m. Monday, December 22, 2003, at Colonial Nursing Center/Assisted Living in Rockford.
He was born June 7, 1910, in Wells County, Indiana, the son of the late George and Louella (Walters) Buel. He was first married to Louetta Mihm, who preceded him in death. He married Esther Jeanette Rhoades on June 3, 1938, and she survives in Rockford.
Mr. Buel worked at the Rockford Stone Company. He also had worked for Celina Moving and Storage, the Ohio Department of Transportation, drove school bus for the Rockford school district and farmed. He was a member of New Horizons Community Church and a 50-year member of Gideons International.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Rex (Ann) Buel of Waynesboro, Va.; five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Donald E. Buel; two brothers, Howard and Charles Buel; two sisters, Mary Beerbower and Irene Cotton; one grandson, and a granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 27, at New Horizons Community Church in Rockford, with Pastor Robert Loar officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Rockford.
Calling hours are 4-8 p.m. Friday, December 26, at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford and an hour prior to services at the church.

LUEDELL
Frieda Luedell, 79, of 1254 S. Shannon St., died at 1:45 a.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2003, at Van Wert County Hospital.
She was born August 28, 1924, in Dixon, the daughter of the late George and Flossie (Purk) Gasskill.
Ms. Luedell was a homemaker.
Survivors include five daughters, Connie (Max) York of Van Wert, Dolores "Dee" Rodriguez and Marla (Bruce) Mansfield, both of Payne, Janice (Bill) Doan of New Haven, Ind., and Ramona Heath of Convoy; a sister, Roxie Smith of Fort Wayne, Ind., 15 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by eight brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 27, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor Rob Raum officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Convoy.
Calling hours are 3-6 p.m. Friday, December 26, at the funeral home.
WYANDT
Norma J. Wyandt, 71, of Middle Point, died at 11:38 a.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2003, at Van Wert County Hospital.
She was born August 18, 1932, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Herminghysen) Stegaman.
Ms. Wyandt was retired from Teleflex Corporation in Van Wert after 32 years of service. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary 5803 in Van Wert.
Survivors include three daughters, Robin (Bill) Roop of Scott, Lori (Troy Kerns) Wyandt of Monroeville, Ind., and Lisa (Troy) Baldwin of Middle Point; a brother, Leon (Joan) Stegaman of Van Wert; four sisters, Thelma Walls and Alice (Jim) Bell, both of Van Wert, and Alma Williams and Eileen (Ray) Parrish, both of Bradenton, Fla.; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Stegaman, and one sister, Mildred Cooper.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 27, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Steve Placke officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, December 26, at the funeral home.

POLING
Helen Irene Poling, 78, of 712 State St., Van Wert, died at 6 p.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2003, at her daughter's residence in West Chester.
She was born December 26, 1924, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Alta Ralph and Hattie (Dunbar) Prichard. On October 26, 1946, she married Kenneth Charles Poling, who died December 29, 1999.
Mrs. Poling was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church in Van Wert. She was a member of the Ladies of the Moose, Isaac Van Wert Post 178, American Legion Auxiliary and was a 1942 graduate of Ohio City-Liberty High School.
Survivors include a son, Randy Poling of Columbus; two daughters, Sheryl (Stan) Dobek-Gold of Ocala, Fla., and Brenda (Mark) Stephens of West Chester; one brother, Lloyd "Bud" (Shirley) Prichard of Van Wert, and two granddaughters, Ashley and Taylor Stephens of West Chester.
She was preceded in death by a son, Rickey Alan Poling, who died in 1964, and a brother, Floyd, who died in infancy.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, December 28, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Calling hours are from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, December 27, at the funeral home.

HARP
William Harp, 60, of Middle Point, died at 11:03 p.m. Wednesday, December 24, 2003, at Van Wert County Hospital.
He was born June 29, 1943, in Hardin County, the son of the late Albert and Marjorie (Harp) Atha. He married Carolyn Long, who survives at home.
Mr. Harp was a truck driver for more than 30 years.
In addition to his wife, he was survived by three daughters, Marla Routt of Middle Point, Shelley Harp of Delphos and Stacie (Tim) Clay of Haviland; two brothers, Dennis (Susie) Harp of Waynesfield and Lee (Chris) Atha of Wapakoneta; two sisters, Kathy (Larry) Mulholland of Forest and Roseanne Habisch of North Carolina; two grandchildren, Jessi Routt and Kathryn Clay, and a stepgrandson, Chandler Clay.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Mike and Mark Atha, and a sister, Marjorie "Sis" Atha.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 30, at Ridge Cemetery in Ridge Township, with Pastor Tom Cover officiating.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, December 29, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert.

BACKUS
Irene Backus, 92, of Delphos, died at 6:10 a.m. Thursday, December 25, 2003, at Roselawn Manor in Spencerville.
She was born September 25, 1912, in Danville, Pa., the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Amig) Bair. On September 29, 1932, she married Clarence Backus, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Backus was a homemaker and taught Sunday School for 25 years at First Assembly of God, where she was a member. She enjoyed Word Search puzzles and was an excellent cook. She also enjoyed embroidery and was an outstanding grandmother.
Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Backus of Delphos; three grandchildren, Tonja Hansen, Misty Birchett and Julie Rutledge; five great-grandchildren, Tori Rutledge, Geoffrey Rutledge, Jessica Rutledge, Olivia Hansen and Jennifer Bair, and a nephew, Norman Bair.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Allen, Norman, Sam, John Jr. and Lewis Bair, and three sisters, Margaret Pride, Bertha Cain and Esther Bair, who died in infancy.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, December 29, at Harter & Son Memorial Chapel in Delphos, the Rev. Dan Eaton officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Delphos.
Calling hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday, December 27, and from 2-4 ad 6-8 p.m. Sunday, December 28, at the funeral home.

RICHARDSON
Charles Louis Richardson, 53, of Delphos, died at 2:15 p.m. Thursday, December 25, 2003, at Lima Memorial Hospital.
He was born September 13, 1950, in Delphos, the son of the late Walter F. and Dorothy B. (Dunlap) Richardson. He had married Kathy Looser of Delphos and Sharen Slate of Michigan.
Mr. Richardson was self-employed in construction and enjoyed watching and playing sports. He was a former member of the Delphos Eagles lodge and was one of the original members and a current member of the Browns Backers of Delphos.
Survivors include four sons, Charles A. Richardson, Chet L. Richardson and Jamie A. Richardson, all of Delphos, and Zack Horg of Defiance; a sister, Shirley A. (Dwaine) Kimmey of Middle Point; three brothers, Richard J. (Helen) Richardson of Delphos, William H. (Sally) Richardson of Middle Point and Franklin J. (Beverly) Richardson of LaGrange, Ind.; nine nephews and eight nieces, and one granddaughter, Kesley Horg.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Clara Jane High; three brothers, Roger L., Forest W. and Jimmy Dean Tayler; grandparents Alva J. and Effie May (Gallespie) Richardson and Russel and Edith (Milller) Dunlap.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 28, at Harter & Son Memorial Chapel in Delphos, the Rev. David Howell officiating. Burial will be in Salem Mennonite Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday, December 27, and an hour prior to services Sunday at the funeral home.
