ROSE
Edward E. Rose, 53, of 8028 Richey Road, died at 4:55 a.m. Sunday, February 2, 2003, at the Hospice Home of Northeast Indiana in Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was born May 2, 1949, in Huntington, W.Va., the son of Sylvia Rose Niece of Proctorville and the late Edward Rose. On May 21, 1999, he married Lisa M. Lewis, who survives.
Mr. Rose was a former truck driver and graduated from Eau Gallie High School in Melbourne, Fla. He was an avid sports participant.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a stepfather, James Niece of Proctorville; one daughter, Susannah (David) Wentz of Plymouth, Wis.; a stepdaughter, Nicole Cooper of Van Wert; one stepson, Dustin Cooper of Van Wert; one sister, Brenda (Michael) Banks of Melbourne, Fla.; two grandchildren, Emily and Benjamin Wentz, and a nephew, Corey Banks of Cocoa Beach, Fla.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Rob Ratliff officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Convoy.
Calling hours are 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made on behalf of Mr. Rose to Hospice Home of Northeast Indiana in Fort Wayne.
SHAW
Wilma Shaw, 73, of Van Wert, died at 10:55 a.m. Sunday, February 2, 2003, at Van Wert Manor nursing home.
She was born October 4, 1929, in Belle Center, the daughter of the late Huishal and Ethel (Sickles) Given.
Survivors include two aunts, Eleanor Baker of Piqua and Clarabelle Jacobs of Kenton.
Interment will be at a later date.
Calling hours are 2-4 p.m. Friday at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert.
BREDEMEYER
Mary Jane Bredemeyer, 44, of Columbia City, Ind., died Saturday, February 22, 2003, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind.
"She was a loving wife, daughter and aunt who will be missed by all who knew her." The Ohio City native worked as a registered nurse and was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne.
She is survived by her husband, Steven C., of Columbia City; her parents, Chester and Lois Fegley of Ohio City; brothers Richard Fegley of Ohio City, Floyd Fegley of Fort Wayne, Dennis Fegley of Van Wert, and Dwight Fegley of Pasa Robles, Calif., and sisters, Nancy Gipson of Fort Wayne, Barbara Fegley of Baltimore, and Joan Ford of Saginaw, Mich.
Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 917 W. Jefferson Blvd., Fort Wayne. Burial will be at Covington Memorial Gardens.
Calling hours will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, 6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne, and Thursday one hour prior to services at the church.
Memorials are to Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
VARIELL
Marvin L. Variell, 68, of Convoy, died at 9:40 p.m. Monday, February 23, 2003, at Convoy Care Center.
He was born March 29, 1934, in Pullman, Mich., the son of the late Harold and Victoria Variell. On November 13, 1955, he married Nancy Carole Daniunas, who died April 23, 1994.
Mr. Variell was a commercial highway engineer with E.W. Bohne of Woodburn, Ind. and Ray Trammel Trucking. He was a former member of the Celina Eagles lodge.
Survivors include two sons, Michael K. (Sherry) Variell of rural Convoy and Bryan W. (Kathy) Variell of Middle Point; one daughter, Teresa A. Thomas of Van Wert, and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Steven E. Variell, who died December 16, 2001, and a brother, Ivan Variell.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Cowan & Son Stainfield Memorial Home in Convoy, the Rev. Bud Walls officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Convoy.
Calling hours are 5-7 p.m. Wednesday and an hour prior to services at the funeral home.

GIBSON
Lola A. Gibson, 92, of Convoy and formerly of Fort Wayne, Ind., died at 3:35 a.m. Monday, February 24, 2003, at Convoy Care Center.
She was born August 19, 1910, in Wabash County, Ind., the daughter of the late Edwin H. and Electa E. (Curless) White.
Mrs. Gibson was a homemaker. She belonged to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Convoy and was a member of Japonica Garden Club in Convoy.
Survivors include two sons, Edwin William (Jean) Gibson of Convoy and Gary Lee (Jayne) Gibson of Bluffton, Ind.; a brother, Edwin H. (Patricia) White of Sebring, Fla.; one sister, Joanna J. (Roger) Ranck of LaFontaine, Ind.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 8, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Convoy, the Rev. Jan Berthinee officiating. Burial will be in Matlock Cemetery in rural Wabash, Ind.
There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made on behalf of Mrs. Gibson to the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church Elevator Fund.

SCARBROUGH
Bess N. Scarbrough, 77, of rural Grover Hill, died at 11:59 a.m. Monday, February 24, 2003, at her residence in Latty Township.
She was born March 23, 1925, in Venedocia, the daughter of the late Chancy Orman and Grace Eleanor (Davis) Stetler. On October 3, 1948, she married John I. Scarbrough, who survives.
Mrs. Scarbrough was a retired cook at Grover Hill and Wayne Trace schools and served for more than 25 years. She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Grover Hill.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Ed (Jackie) Scarbrough of Paulding; one daughter, Brenda (Tom) Ferrell of Grover Hill, and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Leroy and Walter Orman Stetler; one sister, Marie Brehm, and a grandson, Bryan Ferrell.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Zion United Methodist Church, Grover Hill, with the Rev. Paul Miller and Rev. Kevin Patton officiating. Burial will be in Middle Creek Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert and an hour prior to services Friday at the church.

GAMBLE
Rosalie J. Gamble, 75, of Versailles and formerly of Van Wert, died at 5:10 a.m. Tuesday, February 25, 2003, at Versailles Health Care Center.
She was born November 17, 1927, in Van Wert, the daughter of the late Harry E. and Dora O. (Whitcraft) Adams. On April 7, 1947, she married Richard M. Gamble, who died October 24, 1992.
Mrs. Gamble retired as assistant vice president for Peoples Bank & Trust in Van Wert. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Van Wert and the Women's Circle of the church, the Van Wert Woman's Club and American Legion Post 178 Auxiliary.
Survivors include two sons, Dana (Cassie) Gamble of Chillicothe and Gary (Candy) Gamble of Greenville; one brother, Harry (Pat) Adams of Three Rivers, Mich.; six grandchildren, Justin, Taryn, Adam and Michelle Gamble, and Krystal and April Kreitzer, and a great-grandchild, Maddie Gamble.
She was preceded in death by three brothers.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Joe Wilck officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.
Calling hours are 12:30 p.m. Thursday until time of services at the funeral home.
Memorials may be donated on behalf of Mrs. Gamble to the church.
