SHEETER
Arthur P. Sheeter, 71, of Cheboygan, Mich., died at 11:50 p.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2003, at Community Memorial Hospital in Cheyboygan.
He was born December 19, 1931, in Delphos, the son of the late Arnold and Marcella (Lehmkuhle) Sheeter. He married Edress JoAnn Godfrey, who survives in Cheyboygan.
Mr. Sheeter was retired after 34 years of working on the Nickel Plate Railroad, then worked part-time for the post office in Michigan and retired from there after nine years. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and received a Purple Heart medal. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3035 in Delphos. He loved watching sports, especially football, and loved to play cards.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Jeffrey P. (Alicia) Sheeter of Locust Grove, Va.; three daughters, Lizabeth Ann (John) Boerger of Jackson Center, Cynthia Jo (Joe) Hartman of Elida and Denise Marie (Dan) Parent of Aiken, S.C.; nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Sheeter, and a sister, Agatha Hilvers.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Harter & Son Memorial Chapel, with Father Thomas Gorman officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where a parish wake service will be held at 7:30 that evening.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cheyboygan Humane Society or Van Wert Humane Society.
HARNER
Adam Michael Glen Harner, 6, of Mendon, died at 6:58 a.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2003, in a one-car accident on Mercer Road.
He was born to Michael Glen and Sheryl Ann (Byer) Harner of Mendon.
Adam was a kindergarten student at Parkway Elementary School in Willshire and a member of Hamilton Bethel United Methodist Church in Mendon.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Austin, at home, and six sisters, Sarah of Celina, Ashley, a student at the University of St. Francis in Fort Wayne, Ind., and Andrea, Abby, Amy and Audrey, all at home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, with Pastor Randy Christian officiating. Burial will be in Hamilton Bethel Cemetery in Mendon.
Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Friday and from 9 until the time of services Saturday at the funeral home.
ROEHM
Mary Catherine Roehm, 79, of Ohio City, died at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, January 16, 2003, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.
She was born January 7, 1924, in Putnam County, the daughter of the late Joseph and Francis (Schroeder) Palte. On August 31, 1948, she married Max S. Roehm, who died January 7, 1989.
Mrs. Roehm was a homemaker and a member of St. Marys of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert.
Survivors include two sons, Michael C. (Deborah) Roehm of Ohio City and Mark J. (Karla) Roehm of Willshire; two brothers, Rich (Dellia) Palte and Ben (Doris) Palte, both of Columbus Grove; six grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Lawrence, Joseph and Ignatius Palte, and a sister, Marge Youngpeter.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Father Joseph M. Schmelzer officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City.
Calling hours are an hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.

FRY
Ralph William Fry, 84, of rural Jackson Township, died at 10:22 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2003, at Lincolnway Home near Middle Point.
He was born October 10, 1918, in Delphos, the son of the late Glenn and Saloma (Bryan) Fry. On November 11, 19877, he married Alice (Rider) Little Wallick, who survives at Lincolnway Home.
Mr. Fry was a retired farmer. He was a member of Grace Church, Middle Point. He had been a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the South Pacific, and belonged to Isaac Van Wert Post 178, American Legion, and Robert G. Longwell Post 5803, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, Ernest (Delores) Fry of Sarasota, Fla.; one sister, Marcile Crosby of Toledo, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Mercer Cemetery in Mercer.
Calling hours are 3-6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

BARNHART
Phyllis A. Barnhart, 69, of Payne, died at 3:30 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2003, at home.
She was born December 26, 1933, in Fort Wayne, Ind., the daughter of the late Bryant and Leota (Koehlinger) Arnold. She was married and her husband, Curtis "Barney" Barnhart, died in 2000.
Mrs. Barnhart retired from U.S. Food Service in Fort Wayne. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Payne.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Burke of Payne and Herald Burke of Woodburn, Ind.; one daughter, Connie Crawford of Payne; two brothers, Roland Arnold of Houston, Texas, and Dale Arnold of New Haven, Ind.; a sister, Glenna Critchfield of Indianapolis, Ind.; nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Payne, the Rev. Amy Haines officiating. Burial will be in Wiltsie Cemetery in Payne.
Calling hours are after 4 p.m. Monday at Slade Funeral Home in Payne.

NIHISER
Erma M. (Fackler) Nihiser, 91, of 632 Williams St., died at 12:52 a.m. Saturday, January 18, 2003, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.
She was born January 1, 1912, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Clarence E. and Martha Z. (Friend) Fackler. On September 2, 1933, she married Lawrence A. "Tom" Nihiser, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Nihiser was a homemaker and a very active member of First United Brethren in Christ Church in Van Wert. She was a past secretary of the Van Wert County Council on Aging, past Senior Peony Queen, a member of the Van Wert Hobby Club, a past treasurer of the local American Association of Retired People chapter, formerly contributed articles to the Van Wert Times-Bulletin and also enjoyed cooking, reading and sewing for others. She was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan and loved to travel and can. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include two sons, Larry D. (Faye Ann) Nihiser and Jerry W. (Carol Lynne) Nihiser, both of Van Wert; a daughter, Sandra Kay (Jerry) Zeigler of Bluffton, Ind.; six grandchildren, Tanja Nihiser, John H. Mann, Katina (Mann) Stout, Adam Troy Nihiser, S. Travis Nihiser and Trevor Nihiser, and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

WILSON
Marie (Sauber) Wilson, 99, of Delphos, died at 8:58 p.m. Saturday, January 18, 2003, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Delphos.
She was born October 8, 1903, in Landeck, the daughter of the late Nicholas and Matilda (Elasser) Sauber. On June 9, 1924, she married Burgan Wilson, who passed away on May 29, 1972.
Mrs. Wilson was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos and a former member of the St. John's Altar Rosary Society and the CDA.
Survivors include four sons, Robert (Margaret) Wilson of Manistee, Mich., Eugene (Mary) Wilson of Beaver Creek, Frank "Nick" (Judy) Wilson of Delphos and Michael (Joyce) Wilson of Plant City, Fla.; four daughters, Maxine Link and Marilyn (Gerhard) Otte, both of Delphos, Katherine (Frank) Campanlis of Beaver Creek and Carolyn Masten of Las Vegas, Ohio; 27 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Joan M. Wilson and Collen E. Millet; a grandson, Nicolas E. Wilson; four brothers, Cletus, Robert, Louis and Albert Sauber; two sisters, Josephine Kreps and Agnes Yochum; two half-brothers, Oscar and Cornelius Sauber and four half-sisters, Isabel Smith, Angela Nye, Emma Spangler and Helen Fillhart.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos, with Father Thomas Gorman officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Delphos.
Calling hours are 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Harter & Son Funeral Home in Delphos, where a parish wake service will be held at 8:30 p.m.
