POHLMAN
Karl J. Pohlman, 47, of Delphos, died early Saturday morning, June 7, 2003, at his residence.
He was born September 18, 1955, in Delphos, the son of Rosemary (Burgei) Pohlman, who survives in Delphos, and the late Arthur A. Pohlman. He was united in marriage with Donna I. Miller, who survives in Delphos.
Mr. Pohlman was a self-employed carpenter and was owner-operator of KP Builder/Karl's Construction. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos and was a 1974 graduate of Delphos St. John's High School. He devoted much of his time to the Boy Scouts, serving as assistant scoutmaster, and enjoyed working with wood and the outdoors. He had a big heart and was willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He was a devoted father.
Survivors include a son, Anthony Pohlman of Delphos; two daughters, Lindsay Pohlman and Jessica Pohlman, both of Delphos;, and one brother, Dennis L. (Rita M.) Pohlman of Lima.
He was preceded in death by a son, Levi Pohlman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos, with Father Thomas Gorman officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Delphos.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Harter & Son Funeral Home in Delphos, where a parish wake service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday.

SIEFKER
Eugene F. Siefker, 69, of Delphos, died early Monday afternoon, June 9, 2003, at his residence.
He was born September 6, 1933, in Allen County, the son of the late John and Wilma (Landwehr) Siefker.
Mr. Siefker worked at the Cigar Factory for 15 years and then was a janitor for 27 years at KP Industry.
Survivors include two brothers, Kenneth (Alice) Siefker of Metamora and Robert (LaDonna) Siefker of Delphos, and a sister, Joan (Gilbert) Schulte of Fort Jennings.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James Siefker.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos, with Father Randy Giesige officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery in Delphos.
Calling hours are 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Harter & Son Funeral Home in Delphos, where a parish wake service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday.

MANN
Evelyn Jane Mann, 83, of Delphos, died at 3:20 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2003, at Koester Pavilion Nursing Home.
She was born February 6, 1919, in Logan County, the daughter of the late Darwin and Eva (Clark) Sprague. She married Louis Mann, who preceded her in death on July 19, 1985.
Mrs. Mann was manager of several shoe stores and a homemaker. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos, the Women of the Moose in Sidney, Fraternal Order of Eagles in Delphos, Catholic Ladies of Columbia in Delphos and the CD of A in Delphos.
Survivors include a son, Carl Mann of Dayton; one brother, Warren (Zelna) Sprague of Jackson Center; a sister, Maxine Herring of Sidney, and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Mann; three brothers, Wilbur, Robert and Homer Sprague, and two sisters, Grace Sprague and Pauline Bell.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos, with Father Thomas Gorman officiating. Burial will in St. John's Cemetery.
Calling hours are from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday at Harter & Son Memorial Chapel in Delphos.

BERTKE
Margaret Bertke, 80, of Celina, died at 4:35 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2003, at Briarwood Nursing Home in Coldwater.
She was born November 24, 1922, in Celina, the daughter of the late Charles J. and Jennie Alice (Hole) Gray. On September 27, 1941, she married Earl R. "Red" Bertke and he died May 9, 1992.
Mrs. Bertke retired from Mersman-Waldren Furniture in Celina, where she had worked 10 years. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina and its Rosary Altar Society and belonged to the Women of the Moose in Celina.
Survivors include a son, Marvin "Pete" (Margaret) Bertke of Coldwater; one daughter, Sharon (Jack) Bolenbaugh of Van Wert; two sisters, Lela Partin of Van Wert and Velma Quinter of Dayton; a son-in-law, Walter Rammel of Fort Recovery; one sister-in-law, Rosie Grey of Celina; 10 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Bertke; two daughters, Barbara Rammel and Janice Elaine Bertke; four brothers, Charles "Arlie" Gray, Richard Gray, Larry Gray and Gerald Gray; three sisters, Edith Adams, Mary Ellen Jutte and Betty Cummins, and a grandson, Peter Charles Bertke.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Church in Celina, with Father Richard R. Riedel officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Celina.
Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until the time of services Thursday at W.H. Dick & Son Funeral Home in Celina.

WHITE
Bessie E. (Sill) White, 86, of Rockford, died at home Monday evening, June 9, 2003,.
She was born January 25, 1917, in Willshire Township, Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Abram and Hyla (Dellinger) Bienz. On January 28, 1938, she married Charles Willis "Bill" Sill and he preceded her in death on January 31, 1976. She then married Donald W. White on March 25, 1979, and he preceded her in death on January 1, 2001.
Mrs. White was retired from the Kroger Company and was a member of New Horizons Community Church in Rockford.
Survivors include two sons, Stanley D. (Kathleen) Sill and Jerry L. (Marjorie) Sill, both of Rockford; two sisters, Mary Leasor of Rockford and Jessie Hahnert of South Whitley, Ind.; four grandchildren; one stepgrandson, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, with Pastor Robert Loar officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Rockford.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

PLIKERD
Edna Winkler Plikerd, 91, of Willshire, died at 11:35 a.m. Monday, June 9, 2003, at Laurels of Shane Hill in Rockford.
She was born October 3, 1911, near Willshire, the daughter of Henry A. and Catherine Jane (Weaver) Winkler. On May 8, 1937, she married Paul S. Plikerd, who preceded her in death on June 6, 1993.
Mrs. Plikerd taught six years in one-room schools in Blackcreek Township in Mercer County and two years in the Cumberland Mountains of Kentucky. After the start of World War II, she and her husband were sent by the U.S. Navy to Pearl Harbor. She worked as a mail and record file clerk in the Supply Building and was later secretary to an electrician lead man by the 4th Drydock until the war's end. On her return to Ohio, she taught fifth grades in Mendon and York schools and, when York was consolidated into the Lincolnview Local Schools, she was transferred to Middle Point, where she completed 28 years of teaching and retired in 1975. She was a member of Zion United Brethren Church and taught Sunday School classes and was church secretary for years. She was also a charter member of Zion's Missionary Society. She also belonged to the Huntington College Auxiliary and was a member of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors include a sister, Lucretia Winkler Brandt of North Manchester, Ind., and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a foster son, John Ramirez; four brothers, Lee, Walter, Henry and John Winkler, and a sister, Esther Dellinger.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, the Rev. Robert Loar and Rev. Mark Rutledge officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery on U.S. 33, between Rockford and Willshire.
Calling hours will be an hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.
SWARTZ
Ruth V. Swartz, 80, of Delphos, died at 11:25 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2003, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Delphos.
She was born May 30, 1923, the daughter of the late John Milton Berryhill and Stella (Smith) Berryhill Carmean. On July 12, 1941, she married Walter E. Swartz, who died November 30, 1989.
Mrs. Swartz was a homemaker and also taught Sunday School at First Assembly of God Church and played the organ there. She was owner of the WICK craft store in Delphos and taught crafts, ceramics, candle making, cake decorating and playing the organ. She was a member of New Hope Christian Center in Elida and attended Middle Point High School.
Survivors include two daughters, Charlene
(Gerald "Butch") Teman of Delphos and Sheryl (Rev. James) Menke of Elida; two sisters, Mildred Dudgeon of Edgewater, Fla., and Goldie Hurlbert of Ada; 11 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Vicki Jean Krugh; three brothers, Raymond, Leo and Lloyd Berryhill; three sisters, Mary Allene Bauer, Flossie Miller and Charlotte Amstutz; one grandson, David J. Menke, and one great-grandson, Caleb Recker.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at New Hope Christian Center in Elida, the Rev. Jim Menke officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Delphos.
Calling hours are 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Harter & Son Funeral Home in Delphos, and an hour prior to services Friday at the church.
