SCOTT
Williamina D. Scott, 88, of Van Wert, died at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.
She was born June 18, 1914, in Medford, Mass., the daughter of the late William D. and Harriet May (Smith) Ledes. On August 21, 1934, she married Franklin D. Scott, who preceded her in death on October 6, 1962.
Mrs. Scott had been employed by Monogram Manufacturing (Mattel) while living in Chicago. In Van Wert she had been an employee of Van Wert Manufacturing and retired from Teleflex Corporation.
Survivors include a son, Franklin D. (Jerry A.) Scott Jr. of Spencer, Iowa; one daughter, Margaret (William I.) Pontius of Van Wert; two brothers, William Ledes of Belvedere, N.J., and George Ledes of Middlesex, N.J.; a sister, Isabelle Wakefield of Dundee, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Harriet Huminski.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Paul Miller officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Lockhaven, Pa., at a later date.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Sunday, with family present from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. that day.
Memorial contributions may be made on behalf of Mrs. Scott to the Alzheimer's Unit of Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.
RUHLIN-GITHENS
Tracy Ruhlin-Githens, 45, of Findlay, died at 2:31 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2003, at Van Wert County Hospital.
She was born May 8, 1957, in Van Wert, the daughter of Robert D. and Winifred R. (Schaadt) Ruhlin of Van Wert. On March 17, 1984, at Miami University in Oxford, she married Gregory D. Githens, who survives in Findlay.
Mrs. Ruhlin-Githens was a former adjunct faculty member in the School of Art at the University of Findlay and held a similar position at Bowling Green State University for approximately 10 years. She had formerly attended Calvary Evangelical Church in Van Wert and had been very active and held offices in various art guilds and associations on the local, state and national levels. She was a fiber artist and, in 1993, was one of several Findlay area artists to create ornaments for the White House Christmas tree as part of a celebration of American craft artists. One of her hand-dyed woven nylon monofilament and mixed media works is part of the White House Permanent Collection. Her fiber artworks have also been exhibited in national shows and several works have been included in fiber art design books.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Paul Miller officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Lake Cemetery in Pleasant Lake, Ind.
Visitation will be from 2:30-7:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

BAXTER
Delbert F. "Del" Baxter, 84, of Paulding, died at noon Thursday, March 6, 2003, at Brookview Healthcare Center in Defiance.
He was born April 1, 1918, in Latty, the son of the late William Floyd and Emma M. (Driefke) Baxter. On September 29, 1946, he married Edythe F. Yoder, who survives.
Mr. Baxter was a 1936 graduate of Latty High School. He was a World War II veteran, serving as a lieutenant and B-24 bomber pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corps. he was a farmer for 25 years and was employed as an industrial engineer at Grizzly Manufacturing in Paulding, retiring in 1980 after 29 years. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Briceton, Gideons International and John Paulding Historical Society.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, William (Julie) Baxter of North Manchester, Ind.; one daughter, Ruth Ann (James) Covey of Van Wert; five grandchildren, Christopher, Amy and Rebecca Covey and Lauren and Megan Baxter, and two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Jenna Covey.
He was preceded in death by twin sisters, Edith and Edna Baxter.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John Lutheran Church in Briceton, with Pastor Joseph Allen officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery in Paulding, with military graveside services conducted by Paulding Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 587.
Visitation will be from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Den Herder Funeral Home in Paulding and 8-9 a.m. Monday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made on behalf of Mr. Baxter to St. John Lutheran Church, Gideons International or the John Paulding Historical Society.
STRAWN
Tennyson Royce "Tenny" Strawn, 65, of Mendon, died Thursday, March 6, 2003, at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach, Fla.
He was born August 17, 1939, in Rockford, the son of the late Harley Edward and Erma Evelyn (Harb) Strawn. On August 21, 1955, he married Margaret Kline, who survives at home.
Mr. Strawn retired in 1999 from Chapman's Body Shop in Celina. He attended Mendon Church of God.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Dennis (Betty) Strawn of Celina and John (Denise) Strawn of Mendon; three daughters, Cheryl (Mike) Zumberge and Rhonda (Mick) Stose, both of Celina, and Christina (John) Sutter of Fort Recovery; a brother, Dean Strawn of Wabash; 13 grandchildren, Jason (Emily) Hines, Heather Zumberge, Jackie Zumberge, Brooke Zumberge, Jeremy Strawn, Katie Strawn, Kellie Strawn, Megan Stose, Trisha Strawn, Brittany Strawn, Cassandra Sutter, Jonathan Sutter and Jake Sutter; three great-grandchildren, Alysa Hines, Austin Hines and Adan Hines, and a cousin, Ilo McGlaughlin of Celina.
A brother, Jerry Dean Strawn, died October 3, 1968.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor Dean Bruce officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
LYNCH
Pauline Lynch, 79, of 528 Jennings Road, died at 11:55 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2003, at her residence.
She was born August 1, 1923, in Pineville, Ky., the daughter of the late Harvey and Shirley (Robinson) Simpson. On September 9, 1943, in St. Petersburg, Fla., she married Oscar L. Lynch, who survives.
Mrs. Lynch was a production employee for Federal-Mogul Corp. in Van Wert for 35 years and was also a member of First Baptist Church, Van Wert.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Larry E. (Joyce) Lynch of Van Wert, and Robert D. (Niema) Lynch and John (Ann) Saylor, both of Columbus; three brothers, James Barbara Simpson of Fort Wayne, Ind., Charles Simpson of Van Wert and Harvey (Georgia) Simpson Jr. of Twenty Nine Palms, Calif.; two sisters, Billie (Dale) Merriss and Jackie DeBolt, both of Van Wert; eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Van Wert, with Pastor Steve Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Visitation will be from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made on behalf of Mrs. Lynch to the church or the Community Health Professionals-Hospice.
JAMES
Donna Lynn (Stocklin) James, 46, of Van Wert, died Friday morning, March 7, 2003, at her residence.
She was born March 13, 1956, in Lima, the daughter of Dorothy (Barker) Stocklin-Webb of Lima and the late Donald Stocklin.
She married Joseph James, who survives at home.
Mrs. James was a homemaker.
Survivors include a stepfather, Robert Webb; a daughter, Jill Burnett of Delphos; four stepdaughters, Shannon James and Nikki James, both of Lima, Lily James of Convoy and Kenya James of Van Wert; a sister-in-law, Roslyn Howard; a brother-in-law, Dwight Howard and a half-brother-in-law, Kenny Sullivan, and five grandsons, Elliot Ainsworth, Robert Ainsworth, Nicholas Hammond, David Parsons and Tristen Parsons.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Dean Deal.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Darryl Ramey officiating. Burial will be in Blue Creek Cemetery in Haviland.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

LAMAN
Alice (Barrington) Laman, 82, of Troy, Mich., died Friday, March 7, 2003, in Troy.
She married Frank Laman, an educator, on August 6, 1944, and celebrated their 55th anniversary. He preceded her in death. They had lived in Columbus, Wapakoneta, Bucyrus, Sylvania and Brooklyn (Ohio) before retiring to Palmetto, Fla. Memorable years included the 1960s, when Frank was principal of Sylvania High School. During that time, Alice participated in community service groups and was an active member of Olivet Lutheran Church. She loved to spend her time enjoying her family and displaying her quick smile and great sense of humor. The family extends a heartfelt "thank you" to the staff and residents of Boulevard Hill, the senior living center and nursing home where Alice resided the past five years.
Survivors include her caregivers, son John and wife Nola Laman of Troy, Mich.; her daughter, Jan Laman Hodges of Fort Collins, Colo.; her grandsons, Marcus and Michael Laman, plus many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Dick Barrington, and her sisters, Gertrude Minaugh, Mary Lee, Helen Staup and Rose Black.
A brief memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Boulevard Hills, South Boulevard, Rochester, Mich.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church on Cable Road in Lima. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Delphos.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Harter & Sons Funeral Home in Delphos.
