FACKLER
Helen A. Fackler, 91, of Hearth & Home Assisted Living in Van Wert, died at 12:57 p.m. Sunday, May 4, 2003, at her residence.
She was born January 14, 1912, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late George O. and Ocie (Temple) Boroff. On March 20, 1931, she married Thurman T. "Ted" Fackler, who died September 18, 1976.
Mrs. Fackler worked at Colonial Restaurant for 13 years and Van Wert County Hospital for several years. She was a member of First Friends Church in Van Wert and belonged to the Women of the Moose for over 50 years. She was also a member of the Van Wert American Legion Auxiliary and was a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary in Van Wert.
Survivors include two sisters, S. Louise Boroff and Mae Wallace, both of Van Wert.
She was preceded in death by eight brothers and a sister.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Bill Jeffress officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery near Middle Point.
Calling hours will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

PAUL
William M. "Bill" Paul, 70, of Delphos, died at 11:58 a.m. Sunday, May 4, 2003, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.
He was born September 8, 1932, in Delphos, the son of the late E.J. "Boots" and Audrey (Kohn) Paul. On November 9, 1963, he married Carolyn Rowley, who survives in Delphos.
Mr. Paul retired from Ford Motor Company in Lima in 1993 after 34 years of service. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Eagles Aerie 471, both of Delphos, and a life member of Lodge 54, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, in Lima. He graduated from Delphos Jefferson High School in 1950. Mr. Paul did a lot of traveling and enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren. He was also an avid Delphos Jefferson Wildcat, Ohio State football and Cleveland Browns football fan.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Lisa (Bill) Loughman of Findlay and Julie (Tim) Menke of Perrysburg; a sister, Joan Steinbrunner of Delphos, and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Abie Marie Loughman.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Delphos, the Rev. David Howell officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Delphos.
Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at Harter & Son Funeral Home in Delphos and an hour prior to services Thursday at the church.

CRAIG
Rex E. Craig Sr., 69, of 9129 Harrison Willshire Road, Convoy, died at 8:10 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2003, at his residence.
He was born April 14, 1934, in Van Wert, the son of the late Joseph Sr. and Cecil (Risher) Craig. On November 10, 1978, he married Evelyn E. Storm, who survives.
Mr. Craig retired from the City of Van Wert in 1996 and had worked for Fort Wayne Vehicle Auction in Fort Wayne, Ind., at the time of his death. He attended Joy Fellowship Church in New Haven, Ind., was a social member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803 in Van Wert and was a member of the Sons of the American Legion.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Rhett E. Craig of Convoy; one brother, Albert O. Craig of Salt Lake City, Utah, and one sister, Juanita Druckemiller of Van Wert.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Craig Jr. and Walter R. Craig, and a sister, Betty Waldron.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor Matthias Snodderly officiating.
Calling hours are 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

ARMSTRONG
G. Beatrice Armstrong, 95, of Middle Point, died at 10:20 a.m. Monday, May 5, 2003, at Van Wert County Hospital.
She was born March 23, 1908, in Logan County, the daughter of the late William W. and Laura Edna (Klinger) Shafer. She married H. Ancel Armstrong, who also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Armstrong was a homemaker and was formerly employed at Borden Cheese Company in Van Wert.
She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, baking and sewing and also enjoyed spending time with nieces and nephews.
Survivors include four nieces, Joann Baker, Betty Lane, Phyllis Culver and Sheryl Ball; nine nephews, Lester, John and Ken Shafer and Norman, Nolan, Dean, Ernest, Ronald and Harry Armstrong; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Shafer, and a brother-in-law, Edwin Hammons.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Emery, Chester and Kenneth Shafer; a sister, Lucille Hammons; a niece, and one nephew.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Harter & Son Memorial Chapel in Delphos, the Rev. Cynthia Lumm officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery near Middle Point.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

SHINABERRY
R. Michael Shinaberry, 55, of 741 Susan Drive, died at 3 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2003, at his residence.
He was born October 12, 1948, in St. Marys, the son of Sally (Sink) Shinaberry and the late Robert Shinaberry. On January 14, 1990, he married Barbara Killion, who survives.
Mr. Shinaberry retired from Chrysler Corporation in Perrysburg. He was a member of the Van Wert Elks and Moose lodges, Rockford Eagles Lodge, Sons of the American Legion in Van Wert and was a social member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803 in Van Wert.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a son, Douglas (Kelly) Shinaberry of Monroeville, Ind.; two stepdaughters, Tracey Lautzenheiser of Rockford and Dawn Taylor of Van Wert; a brother, David (Claudette) Shinaberry of Newark; five sisters, Jan (Mike) Beougher of Venedocia, Cathie Bellar of Springboro, Bobbie Poe of Payne, Jill (Bob) Hufford of Van Wert and Nikki (James) Fields of Harold, Ky., and six grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert, the Rev. Paul Miller officiating.
There will be no calling hours.

AMWEG
Pearl William "Bill" Amweg, 75, of 1218 Sunrise Court, died at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2003, at Houston Northwest Medical Center in Houston, Texas.
He was born April 15, 1928, in Ohio City, the son of the late Pearl William and Margaret (Riley) Amweg. On December 13, 1960, he married Shinko Takahasi, who died January 2, 2000.
Mr. Amweg retired as a gunner's mate from the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include two daughters, JoAnn Amweg of Dayton and Pamela (Michael) Merritt of Houston, Texas; a sister, Bertha Rogers of Kenton, and two grandsons, Jordan and Zachary Merritt.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Daniel Hamilton Amweg, Delbert Glenn Amweg, James Amweg Sr., Norman Robert Amweg and Raymond Donald Amweg, and a sister, Elenora Culley.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor Sandy Hildebrand officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted by Harvey Lewis Post 346, American Legion, in Ohio City.
Calling hours are 1-3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
FEGLEY
Chester L. "Chet" Fegley, 87, a lifetime Harrison Township farmer, went to be with the Lord at 6:20 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at his residence.
He was born February 19, 1916, in Harrison Township, Van Wert County, the son of the late Orlando Cremean and Fannie E. (Kiracofe) Fegley. On May 11, 1941, he married Lois A. Abbott, who survives.
Mr. Fegley was a farmer and a member of Calvary Evangelical Church in Van Wert, its Friendship Sunday School Class and the JOY Class of First Nazarene Church in Winter Haven, Fla. He was a member of the Van Wert Camp of Gideon's International and a 1934 graduate of Wren High School.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Richard (Karen) Fegley of rural Ohio City, Floyd (Mary Jane) Fegley of Fort Wayne, Ind., Dennis (Debra) Fegley of Van Wert and Dwight (Vicki) Fegley of Pasa Robles, Calif.; three daughters, Nancy Gibson of Fort Wayne, Barbara (Winston Blenckstone) Fegley of Baltimore, Md., and Joan (Craig) Ford of Saginaw, Mich.; one brother, Carl Fegley of Convoy; a son-in-law, Steven Bredemeyer; 14 grandchildren, Greg and Andrew Kintz, Jason Ford, Rachel Joy, Bethany Fegley, Erin Ford, Mike, Chris, Jennifer, James, Dayna, Kenneth and Stephanie Fegley and Dwan Pinamonti, and 11 great-grandchildren, Ausha, Kalyn, Austin and Audrey Kintz, Seth and Nathan Joy, Zane and Faith Fegley, Jacqueline and Quinn Murphy.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Jane Bredemeyer, and a granddaughter, Katie Rebekah Fegley.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Evangelical Church in Van Wert, with the Rev. Raymond E. Feeck officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Calling hours are 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert and an hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
