VANDERSOMMEN
Dorothy M. Vandersommen, 83, of Van Wert, died at 9:59 p.m. Sunday, November 2, 2003, at Van Wert County Hospital.
She was born February 10, 1920, in Amherst, the daughter of the late John and Olive (Best) Schriner. On May 4, 1941, she married Stanley V. Waggoner, who was killed in action June 11, 1945, on the island of Mindanao in the Philippines during World War II. On July 20, 1947, she married Alfred W. Vandersommen, who survives.
Mrs. Vandersommen was a homemaker and a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She also formerly worked at Gunsett Hardware in Van Wert. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Van Wert, and belonged to Presbyterian churches in various cities, where she served as a Sunday School teacher, deacon and held offices in women's associations of the church. She also volunteered for The Salvation Army in Mansfield, was a Girl Scout leader in Warren and a Campfire leader and member of TWIG II in Van Wert.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Karen V. (Wayne) Dixon of Clayton, N.C., Cherie L. Conrad and Carol L. (Randy) Springer, both of Van Wert; 10 grandchildren, Sue (Bob) Alvarez, Brent (Michelle) Waggoner, Christy (Mike) Wortman, Nathan S. Conrad, Stephanie L. Conrad, Tina (Preston) Muncy, Scott (Jill) Springer, Brandon Springer, Kathryn (Scott) Henson and Niki (Butch) Reeves, and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth S. Waggoner, and two brothers, Allen J. and Robert O. Schriner.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 7, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Dr. Edward Jillson officiating, assisted by the Rev. Paul Miller. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Calling hours are 4-8 p.m. Thursday, November 6, and an hour prior to the services Friday at the funeral home.

FOLTZ
Genevieve Foltz, 87, of Van Wert, died at 5:10 a.m. Friday, November 21, 2003, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.
She was born November 19, 1916, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late John and Jenny (McQuown) Borden. On July 28, 1946, she married Howard W. Foltz, who died June 8, 1998.
Mrs. Foltz retired in 1978 after 41 years as a school teacher who taught social studies, drama and home economics. She was a graduate of Bluffton College and was very active in the Van Wert County Historical Society and Van Wert Civic Theatre. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Van Wert, a member of the Van Wert County Hospital's Twig organization, Van Wert Men's Garden Club, Ohio Retired Teachers Association and Van Wert County Cancer Society, and had been an active volunteer for Brumback Library, Van Wert County Board of Elections and the hospital Thrift Shop. She was a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
Survivors include two sons, Howard B. (Karen) Foltz of Lima and David J. (Janeen) Foltz of Greenville, and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas I. Borden.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, November 24, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Dillon Staas officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Calling hours are 2-6 p.m. Sunday, November 23, at the funeral home.

MILLER
Ruth V. Miller, 95, of Van Wert, died at 2:41 a.m. Thursday, November 20, 2003, at Van Wert Manor nursing home.
She was born February 10, 1908, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late David and Ethel (Allen) Miller. She never married.
Miss Miller retired in 1978 after 40 years as a graduate Registered Nurse and was working for the Ohio Department of Health when she retired. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Van Wert and a graduate of the Ohio State University School of Nursing. She belonged to the OSU Torch Club, National Nursing Society Sigma Theta Tau and the American Businesswomen's Association and was a former member of the American Nursing Association.
Survivors include two sisters, Marcile Dunlap and Pauline (Frank) McGannon, both of Van Wert, and also several nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, November 23, at Ridge Cemetery in Ridge Township, with the Rev. Paul Miller officiating.
There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made on behalf of Miss Miller to First United Methodist Church in Van Wert.

PROVCI
John Provci, 89, of Rockford, died at 7:10 a.m. Sunday, November 23, 2003, at The Laurels of Shane Hill in Rockford, where he had been a patient since Thursday.
He was born May 16, 1914, in Mercer, the son of the late Samuel and Helen (Sabados) Provci. On January 20, 1949, he married Libby Havlicek, who died April 23, 2002.
Mr. Provci retired from Lima Locomotive/Clark Equipment in 1976 after 34 years working as a welder. He also was a farmer and U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was the last living charter member of St. Teresa's Catholic Church, a member of American Legion Post 508 in Rockford, the oldest member of the Ohio LST (Landing Ship-Tank) Association and a member of the U.S. LST Association.
Survivors include a son, Johnny J. Provci of Celina; two daughters, Carol E. (Stephen) Cico of Celina and Mary Anna (Ronald) Weitz of Albuquerque, N.M.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and a stepgreat-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by an infant son; four brothers, Mike, Jim, Nick and Joe Provci, and a sister, Mary Avery.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 26, at St. Teresa's Catholic Church in Rockford, with Father Thomas Brenberger officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Rockford.
Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 25, at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, where a prayer service will be conducted at 7:30 that evening.

DULL
Hugh F. Dull, 86, of Celina, died at 12:22 a.m. Sunday, November 23, 2003, at his residence.
He was born February 9, 1917, in Liberty Township, Van Wert County, the son of the late Herbert Oscar and Mary Luticia (Bolenbaugh) Dull. On August 3, 1940, he married Opal Shaffer, who survives at home.
Mr. Dull worked in the engineering department of New Idea-Avco in Coldwater for 30 years. He was a 1934 graduate of Ohio City-Liberty High School and attended St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Celina. He was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army in Europe.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Monte J. (Rebecca) Dull of Roanoke, Ind., and Thomas (Peggy) Dull of Celina; five daughters, Deanna (Larry) Riesen of Fort Wayne, Ind., Sonya (Mark) Davis of Fort Myers, Fla., and Judy (Michael) Mersman, Teressa (George) Kerns and Gena Lewis, all of Celina; a sister, Joan (Don) Knerr of Payne; seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Forest Hubert Dull, Wilson J. Dull and Robert Lloyd Dull, and four sisters, Mary B. McNeal, Martha Elizabeth Ricketts, Mildred May Mayers and Agnes Moring.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 26, at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home in Celina, the Rev. Kathleen Hayes officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 25, at the funeral home.

TREECE
Patricia Ann Treece, 47, of Grover Hill, died at 10:45 p.m. Sunday, November 23, 2003, at her residence.
She was born August 18, 1956, in Paulding, the daughter of Mary (Bockey) Plescher and the late James Plescher. On September 10, 1976, she married Dennis L. Treece, who also survives.
Mrs. Treece was a registered nurse in the cardiology department at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind., for 10 years.
In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by two sons, Brock (Megan) Treece of Golden, Colo., and Devon Treece of Austin, Texas; a daughter, Brianna Treece of Grover Hill; one brother, Tony Plescher of Payne, and a sister, Deb (Dave) Mielke of Paulding.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 26, at Zion United Methodist Church in Grover Hill, with the Rev. Kevin Patton officiating. Burial services will be held at a later date
Calling hours are 2:30-9 p.m. Tuesday, November 25, at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.

NOONAN
Thelma Jane Noonan, 79, of Delphos, died at 12:05 p.m. Monday, November 24, 2003, at Roselawn Manor nursing home in Spencerville.
She was born April 24, 1924, in Delphos, the daughter of the late Edward J. and Caroline (Stauterman) Trentman. On November 23, 1950, she married Eugene M. Noon, who died December 3, 1984.
Mrs. Noonan worked for Westinghouse for 30 years. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, American Legion of Fort Jennings, St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos and its Sacred Heart League, Retired Westinghouse Employees Association and Delphos Eagles. She enjoyed the reunion of the 751 Battalion Armed Tank Division.
Survivors include a brother-in-law, V. J. Noonan; one sister-in-law, Mary Ann (Bob) Noonan; several nieces and nephews, Mary (Ken) Wise, Frank (Sue) Noonan, Jane (Dave) Rutledge, Helen (Jim) Bauer, Alice Noonan, Carl Noonan, Phil (Cathy) Noonan, Joe Noonan and Patty Noonan; four great-nieces; two great-nephews, and a special friend, Paul (Carol) Bumgarte.
She was preceded in death by two sisters-in-law, Evelyn C. Noonan and Rita Noonan, and three brothers-in-law, Robert, Eugene and James Noonan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 26, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos, with Father Thomas Gorman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 25, at Harter & Son Memorial Chapel in Delphos, where a parish wake service will be held at 8 that evening, and from 9 a.m. until time of services Wednesday at the church.
