TUMBLIN
Owen J. Tumblin, 71, of Grover Hill, died at 2 p.m. Friday, November 8, 2002, at his residence.
He was born March 31, 1931, in Paulding County, the son of the late Jesse and Golda (Stewart) Tumblin. He first married Bonnie Harter, who preceded him in death. On July 30, 1960, he married Evelyn Hill, who survives.
Mr. Tumblin worked at B.F. Goodrich in Woodburn, Ind., for 32 years and was also a lifetime farmer. He was a member of Middle Creek United Methodist Church in Grover Hill and was president of the Black Swamp CB Club in Grover Hill for many years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Roger Tumblin of Oakwood; four daughters, Terry (Keith) Geiger of Ottoville, Karen Sanderson of Fort Wayne, Ind., Deborah Lehman of Van Wert and Robin Tumblin of Grover Hill; one brother, Irvin (Anna Marie) Tumblin of North Creek; nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Gregory and Dewayne Tumblin; a brother, Justis Tumblin; one sister, Mary Lou Tumblin, and a grandson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Middle Creek United Methodist Church, the Rev. Bill Sherry officiating, assisted by Rev. Terry Porter. Burial will be in Middle Creek Cemetery in Grover Hill.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert and an hour prior to services Monday at the church.

JACOMET
Ella Marie Jacomet, 89, of Delphos, died at 2:25 p.m. Friday, November 8, 2002, at Medical College Hospital in Toledo.
She was born June 14, 1913, in Allen County, the daughter of the late Oscar and Nora (Miller) Butler. She married Donald G. Jacomet in 1932 and he preceded her in death in February of 1971.
Mrs. Jacomet was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Delphos.
Survivors include one son, Ronald Jacomet of Delphos; a stepdaughter, Patricia, of St. Marys; one sister, Eileen (Walter) Byrne of Delphos; seven grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Donald Jacomet Jr.; four brothers, Gary, Elbert, Lloyd and Paul Butler, and two sisters, Goldie Nottingham and Mildred Clinger.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday at Harter & Son Memorial Chapel in Delphos, the Rev. Ron Lumm officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday and an hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home.

NIHISER
Carl E. Nihiser, 76, of 545 Jennings Road, died at 5:45 p.m. Friday, November 8, 2002, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was born on January 28, 1926, in Van Wert, the son of the late Daniel P. and Ruby E. (Harvey) Nihiser. On May 20, 1951, in Van Wert, he married Phyllis L. Schaadt, who survives.
Mr. Nihiser had formerly worked in sales for the Toledo Turf Co. and then was a co-owner of the Oaks Golf Club in Lima for 15 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, was a life member and past exalted ruler of Van Wert Lodge 1197, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks; a member of the Golf Course Superintendents of America and a member of the Wapakoneta Eagles lodge.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Danny K. Nihiser of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Lynn Nihiser, who died in infancy; one brother, Gradon "Jake" Nihiser, and a half-brother, Arthur Nihiser.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Paul Miller officiating. A private family burial will be at Ridge Cemetery near Middle Point.
Calling hours are 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

WYATT
Robert E. Wyatt, 67, formerly of Shreveport, La., died at 4:28 p.m. Friday, November 8, 2002, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was born February 27, 1935, in Grover Hill, the son of the late William Nathan and Helen Pearl (Bennett) Wyatt.
Mr. Wyatt retired in 1975 as a major in the U.S. Air Force, where he had served as an instructor in electronics and radar and as a navigator. He was also an engineer at Cast Metals in Shreveport and a biomedical technician at Louisiana State University Medical School in Shreveport. He was a 1953 graduate of Grover Hill High School, where he was the class valedictorian. He attended Ohio State University and was also appointed as a page to the Ohio Senate. He was a member of the Masonic lodge and Knights Templar in Shreveport and was a member of the American Legion and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7685.
Survivors include two sons, Charles "Chad" (Julia) Wyatt and Robert (Sandra) Wyatt Jr., both of Fort Wayne; two daughters, Anne (Ric) Trimble of New Haven, Ind., and Debra (Tony) Welly of Hicksville; a brother, Carl E. Wyatt of Payne; two sisters, Frances (Leland) Hobeck of Fort Wayne and Carol (Roger) Ricketts of Rockford, and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, William N. Wyatt Jr., Rufus Kent Wyatt and D. Rex Wyatt.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor Raymond E. Feeck of Calvary Evangelical Church officiating.
Calling hours will be 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

YOUNG
Gaylord C. Young, 77, of 4372 German Church Road, died at 1:26 p.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2002, at Van Wert County Hospital.
He was born September 3, 1925, in Van Wert County, the son of the late Arthur Carl and Florence E. (Feigert) Young. On September 3, 1949, he married Phyllis A. (Switzer) Young, who survives.
Mr. Young was a farmer in Harrison Township for 60 years. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, where he had served as an elder, deacon, trustee and member of the church choir. He was also a member of the Van Wert Camp of Gideons International, Van Wert County Farm Bureau, Farm Focus Committee and Heritage Board.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Ronald C. (Carla) Young of rural Van Wert and Ned L. (Sandy) Young of rural Convoy; one brother, Edgar P. (Deweece) Young of Stevensville, Md., and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Harrison Township, the Rev. Jerry Flueckinger officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City.
Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, and an hour prior to services Friday at the church.

SEARFOSS
Andrew Michael Searfoss, 6 weeks, of Mechanicsburg, died at 5:37 p.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2002, at Children's Hospital in Columbus.
He was born August 15, 2002, in Columbus, the son of Geroge Searfoss and Sarah Hiser, both of Mechanicsburg.
Other survivors include paternal grandparents, George and Toni Searfoss of Haviland; paternal great-grandmother, Evelyn Knuth of Middle Point; maternal grandmother, Kristine Hiser of New Bremen; maternal great-great-grandmother, Olinda Oen of Wapakoneta; an uncle, Joshua Hiser, and an aunt, Kimberly Ream.
He was preceded in death by two aunts, Naomi and Amanda Hiser.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at Brickner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steve Placke officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery.
BOWDEN
Nellie F. Bowden, 83, of Middle Point, died at 3:04 p.m. Saturday, October 12, 2002, at Paradise Oaks Nursing Home in Cloverdale.
She was born May 17, 1919, in Middle Point, the daughter of the late Thomas and Maude (Neer) Armstrong. On February 14, 1936, she married William W. Bowden, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Bowden retired in 1981 after 25 years at National Seal Corp. (Federal-Mogul Corp.). She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Middle Point and served the church as treasurer for more than 25 years and as pianist/organist.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen Bowden-Cox of Oakwood; one brother, Maurice Armstrong of Fort Mead, Fla.; a twin sister, Della Rae Ringwald of Fort Mead; four grandchildren, Steve Cox of Oakwood, Chad Cox of Maumee, Blake Bowden of Cincinnati and Becca Rebrook of Fayetteville, N.C., and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, William L. Bowden; one brother, and two sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Tom Cover officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery near Middle Point.
Calling hours are an hour prior to services at the funeral home.
