GERMAN
Vernon S. German, 78, of Delphos, died at 5:55 a.m. Monday, April 5, 2004, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.
He was born October 29, 1925, in Delphos, the son of the late Leo and Regina (Wurst) German. He was formerly married to Carolyn R. (Wiechart) Dray.
Mr. German retired from United Telephone in 1984 after 35½ years service in installation and repair. After his retirement he continued to help family and friends with telephone repairs and worked at Fettig's Flowerland part-time. He served as a company clerk during World War II. He was a member of St. John the Evangelistic Catholic Church and was past commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3035, both in Delphos. He was a member of the Delphos Eagles, American Legion Post, volunteered as a Delphos firefighter for 25 years until 1979, when Chuck took over and Vernon retired. He was a member of the Delphos Sportsmen Club and The Military Order of the Cootie. He also enjoyed Jim's Restaurant Long Table Liars Club, was an avid gardener and fisherman and also made wine.
Survivors include two sons, Charles V. (Donna) German and William G. (Marilee) German, both of Delphos; five daughters, Debra (Larry Zimmerman) Hall of Harrisburg, Pa., Mary (Frank) Sanchez, Susanne (Gary) Schwinnen and Patricia (Ben) Boyer, all of Delphos, and Julie (Tom) Siefker of Elida; three brothers, Al (Mary) German, Robert (Marilyn) German and Carl (Monica) German, all of Delphos; 20 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, John C. German, and one grandson, Eric Sanchez.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, at St. John the Evangelistic Catholic Church in Delphos, with Father Thomas Gorman officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Delphos.
Calling hours are 2-9 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, at Harter & Son Memorial Chapel in Delphos -- where a parish wake will be held Tuesday evening and a VFW service held at 7:30 that evening -- and from 9 a.m. until services Wednesday at the church.

DRAVING
Elmer L. Draving, 89, formerly of Van Wert and currently of Fort Myers, Fla., died at 1:35 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2004, at Hope Hospice House in Fort Myers, Fla.
He was born January 27, 1915, in Van Wert, the son of the late John and Bertha (Ankerman) Draving. On January 1, 1940, he married June L. Allingham, who survives in Fort Myers.
Mr. Draving retired from Aeroquip Corporation in Van Wert as a customer service correspondent in 1978. He was a member and former deacon of First Presbyterian Church in Van Wert and was a graduate of Van Wert High School and Giffin College. He served a term as Van Wert city treasurer and was clerk of Van Wert City Council from 1958-1973. He joined the Masonic lodge in 1939 and served as master in 1946. As a chapter and council member, he was secretary to all three bodies for 26 years. He was a 65-year member of the lodge and a 60-year member of both Chapter 71 and Council 73. He was also an avid golfer and a member of The Woods Golf Club in van Wert.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Cynthia (Robert K.) Walker of Fort Myers; a granddaughter, Ashley Walker, a senior at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., and three nieces.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Howard Draving, and one sister, Norma Hesher.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 10, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Dr. Edward Jillson officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Calling hours are 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 9, at the funeral home, where a Masonic Memorial Service will be held at 7:45 p.m. on Friday.

FEIGERT
Richard J. Feigert, 79, of Van Wert, died at 4:50 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2004, at Van Wert Manor nursing home in Van Wert.
He was born October 16, 1924, in Van Wert, the son of the late Oscar and Norma (Schaadt) Feigert.
Mr. Feigert was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Van Wert.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda (John) Hesler of Spencerville; one sister, Elizabeth (John) Heshlinger of Niceville, Fla., and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, April 9, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Dr. Edward Jillson officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert, with military graveside rites performed by the combined honor units of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both in Van Wert.
Calling hours are 10-11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

LARE
Donald J. Lare, 90, of 5156 Lare Road, Convoy, died at 8:36 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2004, at Vancrest Assisted Living Center in Van Wert.
He was born October 9, 1913, in Van Wert County, the son of the late Jay and Bessie (Webb) Lare. On January 13, 1934, he married Ruby Marie Fensler, who preceded him in death on February 14, 2001.
Mr. Lare was a retired farmer and was a member of Countryside Chapel United Methodist Church in Convoy. He also belonged to the Farm Bureau Council 2E, was a charter member of Convoy Lions Club and was a graduate of Tully-Convoy High School.
Survivors include a daughter, Judy (Leslie) Eddy of Haviland; one sister, Martha (Floyd) Jones of Convoy; two grandchildren, Roy Eddy of Columbus and Marie (Andrew) Gribble of Defiance, and a great-grandson, Ethan Gribble.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Eva Showalter, Katherine McDaniel and Mary Kever.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 9, at Countryside Chapel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Wayne Kargas officiating. Burial will be in IOOF cemetery in Convoy.
Calling hours are 3-8 p.m. Thursday, April 8, at Cowan & Son Stainfield Memorial Home in Convoy and an hour prior to services Friday at the church.

WALLACE
Harold L. Wallace, 88, of Van Wert, died at 9:10 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2004, at Van Wert Manor nursing home in Van Wert.
He was born July 15, 1915, in Ridge Township, Van Wert County, the son of the late Ross and Fern (Hire) Wallace. On December 26, 1948, he married Bonnie I. Adam, who survives in Van Wert.
Mr. Wallace retired from farming in Ridge Township. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Van Wert.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Richard (Marilyn) Wallace of Marion, Philip H. (Sherrie) Wallace of Richmond, Texas, and Stephen P. (Sylvia) Wallace of Columbus; eight grandchildren, Darrell (Ellen) Wallace, Amanda Wallace Brooke Wallace and Tracey Wallace, all of Columbus, Heather (Ravi) Misra of Nashville, Tenn., Luke Wallace of Dallas, Texas, Joseph Wallace of College Station, Texas, and Timothy Wallace of Richmond, Texas, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Alfred L. Wallace and Ross Wallace Jr.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 10, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery in Ridge Township.

DOSTER
LaDonna F. Doster, 72, of Scott, died at 11:40 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2004, at her residence.
She was born June 29, 1931, in Briceton, the daughter of the late Anna Blake. She was raised by her foster parents, the late Pearl and Mary Taylor. On July 1, 1950, she married Arthur C. Doster, who survives.
Mrs. Doster was a homemaker and attended Auglaize Chapel Church of God in Oakwood.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Carla (Dave White) Foster of Bristol, Ind.; three sons, Dan (Pat) Doster of Toledo, Don (Cheryl) Doster of Van Wert and John (Marsha) Doster of Scott; 13 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Dan "Red" and Zerethra Hamman.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 13, at Den Herder Funeral Home in Paulding, the Rev. Raymond Matson officiating. Burial will be in Hedges Cemetery in Jackson Township, Paulding County.
Calling hours are 2:30-9 p.m. Monday, April 12, and from 9 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at the funeral home.

COOK
Rev. John C. Cook Sr., 90, of Van Wert, died at 9:55 a.m. Tuesday, August 10, 2004, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.
He was born December 28, 1913, in Jackson, Mich., the son of the late Carl and Laurine (Pike) Cook. On August 14, 1940, he married Bess M. Ison, who survives at home.
Rev. Cook served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in Michigan, then attended Fort Wayne Bible College and Grace College in Winona Lake, Ind. After college, he and his wife faithfully served the Lord as missionaries in Haiti and the Dominican Republic for 24 years. Pastor Cook then ministered at First Baptist Church in Van Wert for 18 years and Haviland Baptist Church for 10 years and retired at age 80. He taught Bible studies at Vancrest Health Care Center for the past seven years and was an adult Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church. He has served since 1959 on the board of the Spanish World Gospel Mission in Winona Lake.
Survivors include three sons, Dr. John C. (Beth) Cook of Van Wert, Jim (Darlene) Cook of Nashville, Tenn., and Bob (Beth) Cook of Westerville; a brother, Gordon (Lorene) Cook of Grand Rapids, Mich., and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, August 13, at First Baptist Church in Van Wert, with Pastor Steve Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, August 12, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert and an hour prior to services Friday at the church.
