SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Paul Nelson Merrill, 72, of Grandview Avenue, died Friday morning, March 5, 1999, following a lengthy illness. He was the father of Jean Pajak of Wooster. A eulogy will be given Monday at 12:20 p.m. in the Chapel at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Ind. Services will follow at 1 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Burial will be at Southlawn Cemetery. Friends may call today (Sunday) from 2-6 at the funeral home, where a vigil service will be held at 3. He was born Aug. 2, 1926 in South Bend, Ind., to Hiram and Estie (Kreischer) Merrill and married Carmelita Sallows on June 14, 1947. She survives. Merrill and Linda Steiner, both of South Bend, Ind., and Gerald Merrill of Granger, Ind.; nine grandchildren; a brother, William E. WEST SALEM -- Preston L. Nale, 60, of West Salem, died Friday, March 5, 1999, at Medina General Hospital. Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem, with the Rev. He was born Dec. 30, 1938 in Alabama to Leonard and Myrtle (Mitchell) Nale and married Julie Marquart on Dec. 14, 1977. She survives. SMITHVILLE -- Icie May Smucker, 93, formerly of 8662 Smucker Road, died Saturday, March 6, 1999, at Brenn-Field Nursing Center in Orrville, after an extended period of declining health. PUTNEY, Vt. -- Marcia (Millham) Aloisi, 66, of Putney, Vt., died Saturday, Feb. 20, 1999, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. She was the mother of William M. Aloisi of Rittman. A liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday, Feb. 23, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Putney, Vt. Burial will be held at a later date. BUSHNELL, Ill. -- Thorlo W. "T.W." Oller, 96, of Bushnell, Ill., died Saturday, March 6, 1999, at Prairie City Nursing Center in Prairie City, Ill., He was the father of James C. Oller of Millersburg. Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Martin-Hollis Funeral Home in Bushnell, Ill., with the Rev. Terry Broady officiating. Burial will be at Forrest Lawn Memory Gardens in Macomb, Ill. Friends may call anytime today (Monday) after 2 at the funeral home, or one hour prior to the services. Memorial contributions may be made to Prairie City Nursing Center; or to Bushnell Rescue Squad. He was born Nov. 19, 1902 in Bloomdale, to Charles and Ida M. (Scheidler) Oller and married Flossie M. Clarke. She died in 1962. He then married Irene D. (Haffner) Brewer on Jan. 9, 1964 in Macomb, Ill. She survives. Surviving in addition to his son and wife, are two other children, Robert W. Oller of Huron and Patricia Sharinghouse of Findlay; stepchildren, Keith Brewer and Alma Brooks, both of Bushnell, Ill., Lyndall Brewer and Ramona Howard, both of Marietta, Ill., and Marvin Brewer of Galesburg, Ill.; six grandchildren; 20 step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several step-great- and step-great-great-grandchildren.

MILLERSBURG -- F. Wilma Giauque, 83, 187 N. Crawford St., died Sunday afternoon, March 7, 1999, at Sunset View Nursing Home in Millersburg, after a long illness. Mast of Mount Hope; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Harold Seidner of Indianapolis, and Eugene Seidner of Bellville; and sisters, Ruby White of Ashland, Marjorie VanDyne of Cora Gables, Fla., and Mary Coldwell of Mount Gilead.

MOUNT EATON -- Bertha M. Feller, 85, of Mount Eaton, died Monday March 8, 1999, in the emergency room at Massillon Community Hospital, after a period of declining health.
