John Cupples
WARREN -- John Patrick Cupples, 74, 2166 Beechwood Ave. NE, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000, at Lutheran National Home in Rockville, Md., following an extended illness.
He was the father of Conan J. Cupples of Wooster.
Services were held today (Wednesday) at 10 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church of Warren. Burial was at All Souls Cemetery.
Robert H. Roberts-Clark Memorial Home in Warren handled the arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimers Association-Greater Youngstown Chapter, P.O. Box 321, Canfield 44406-0321.
He was born Sept. 7, 1926 in Butler, Pa. to John and Rose (Logue) Cupples and married Rosemarie Ann Mueller February 1952. She died Aug. 10, 2000.
Surviving in addition to his son of Wooster are another son, Shawn W. Cupples of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a daughter, Gretchen C. Dean of Potomac, Md. and five grandchildren.

Eli Hostetler
FREDERICKSBURG -- Eli T. Hostetler, 82, 4658 Harrison Road, died Tuesday morning, Oct. 17, 2000, at Wooster Community Hospital, following a period of declining health.
Services will be Thursday at 9 a.m. at the Roy E. Hostetler residence, 4236 Harrison Road, Fredericksburg with Bishop Eli L. Miller officiating. Burial will be at Yoder Cemetery, Fredericksburg.
Friends may call anytime at the Eli Hostetler residence.
Murray Funeral Home in Fredericksburg is handling arrangements.
He was born March 21, 1918 in Middlefield in Geauga County to Tobe and Emma (Byler) Hostetler and married Fannie Miller on May 27, 1941. She survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Roy E. (Ella) Hostetler of Fredericksburg; a daughter, Barbara (Eli A.) Hostetler of Fredericksburg; six grandchildren; two brothers, Yost T. of Holmesville and Joni T. of Fredericksburg and a sister, Mrs. Dan L. (Emma) Miller of Holmesville.

Esther Miller
FREDERICKSBURG -- Esther (Weaver) Miller, 79, 6413 Township Road 607, died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2000, at Joel Pomerene Memorial Hospital, following a short illness.
Services will be Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the residence with Bishop Eli A. Miller officiating. Burial will be at Hershberger Cemetery, Fredericksburg.
Friends may call anytime at the residence.
Murray Funeral Home in Fredericksburg is handling arrangements.
She was born Jan. 7, 1921 in Holmes County to William T. and Sarah (Miller) Weaver and married Henry J. Miller on Feb. 19, 1942. He survives.
Surviving are five sons, Aden H. Miller of Blanchard, Mich., John H. Miller, William H. Miller and Melvin H. Miller, all of Fredericksburg and Eli H. Miller of the home; five daughters, Mrs. Alvin (Katie) Brenneman of Blanchard, Mich., Mrs. John (Sarah) Brenneman and Mrs. Uriah (Mattie) Weaver, both of Stanwood, Mich., Mrs. Wayne (Ella) Hershberger and Mrs. Ivan (Mary) Miller, both of Fredericksburg; 85 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Eli J. (Mary) Miller of Pennsylvania and Mrs. Abe J. (Ella) Miller of Apple Creek and a brother, Eli W. Weaver of Ashland.

Alma Walton
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Alma Naomi Walton, of Colorado Springs, Colo. and formerly of Wooster, died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2000 at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colo., following a brief illness.
Memorial and burial services will be held in Alpharetta, Ga.
She was born Aug. 23, 1916 in Starkville, Miss. to Tobias and Mary Francis Hutchins and married Joseph C. Walton in 1943. He died previously.
Surviving are two daughters, JoAnn Nusbaum of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Rita Curtis of Alpharetta, Ga.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a sister, Sara Kimball.

Harry Jones
BIG PRAIRIE -- Harry W. Jones, 88, 14564 Shreve Road, died Tuesday morning, Oct. 17, 2000, at Sunset View Nursing Home, Millersburg.
Services will be Friday at 11:30 a.m. at Johnston-Schlabach Funeral Home in Shreve with the Rev. Bill Lawson officiating. Burial will be at Newkirk Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Shreve American Legion.
Friends may call Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home where a Masonic service will be held at 8:45 p.m conducted by the Shreve Garfield Masonic Lodge.
The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Shreve United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 525, Shreve 44676.
He was born Aug. 18, 1912 in Holmes County to Fred and Clara (Glasgow) Jones and married Mary L. Alleman on June 15, 1947. She survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Terry Jones of Big Prairie and Wooster and James (Suzie) Jones of Spartansburg, S.C.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a sister, Reba Drake of Millersburg.

Betty Best
ORRVILLE -- Betty Loene Best, 75, of Orrville and formerly of Zanesville, died Monday, Oct. 16, 2000, at Brenn-Field Nursing Center in Orrville, following a lengthy illness.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Hillis Funeral Home in Zanesville with the Rev. John Earhart officiating. Burial will be at Guernsey Memory Gardens in Cambridge.
Friends may call Thursday from 9-11 a.m. at the funeral home.
She was born June 20, 1925 in Zanesville to Lon Richard and Cora Belle (Laughman) Parr and married Robert Lee Best. He died March 10, 1994.
Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Sondra Sue and Jim Hillis of Zanesville and Rebecca A. "Becky" and Steve Maziar of Lickingview; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Edith G. Morrison of Hopewell and Shirley A. Woerner of Zanesville and a brother, James R. Parr of Gratiot.

Francis Mulhall
SHREVE -- Francis F. Mulhall, 93, 8237 State Route 754, died Tuesday morning, Oct. 17, 2000, at Horn Nursing Home in Wooster.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Johnston-Schlabach Funeral Home in Shreve with the Rev. Randy Weaver officiating. Burial will be at Bigelow Cemetery.
Friends may call Friday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
He was born Aug. 13, 1907 in Ripley Township, Holmes County to Leonard and Margaret Annetta (Nussbaum) Mulhall and married Florence I. Shane on Dec. 22, 1934 in Doylestown. She died Feb. 7, 1974.
Surviving are four children, Charles F. (Doris) Mulhall of Big Prairie, David Mulhall of Shreve, Jeanne (Mike) Vizzo of Wooster and Karen (Glenn) Vaughn of Coeur De' Alene, Idaho; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson and a brother, Earl (Margaret) Mulhall of Shreve.

Mary Berkey
SMITHVILLE -- Mary Louise Berkey, 78, 324 S. Summit St., died Monday evening, Oct. 16, 2000, at Wooster Community Hospital.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Smithville with the Rev. Dr. Theodore H. Rust officiating. Burial will be at Smithville Cemetery.
Friends may call tonight (Wednesday) from 6-9 at the McIntire, Davis and Greene Funeral Home.
Those who wish may make memorial contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 777 S. Summit St., Smithville 44677.
She was born Oct. 15, 1922 in Orrville to Alvin and Mary (Ramseyer) Schrock.
Surviving are her husband, William B. Berkey, whom she married Nov. 18, 1945; children, Beverly Pumneo of Marshallville, Dennis Berkey and Scott Berkey, both of Boston and Tim Berkey of Chardon; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a sister, LaVern Redett of Wooster and three brothers, Donald Schrock of Orrville and Dean Schrock and Darrell Schrock, both of Wooster.

Frank Richardson
PITTSGROVE, N.J. -- Frank M. Richardson, 72, of Pittsgrove, N.J., died Monday morning, Oct. 16, 2000, at his home, following a lengthy illness.
He was the father of Connie Sue Cook of Wooster.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Freitag Funeral Home, 137 W. Commerce St., Bridgeton, N.J. Burial will be at Olivet Cemetery in Pittsgrove Township, N.J.
Friends may call one hour prior to services on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Salem Memorial Home Health, 390 N. Broadway, Suite 900, Pennsville, N.J. 08070.
He was born in Parkersburg, W.Va. to Frank Johnson and Dolly (Chaffin) Richardson and married Caroline Reed. She died in June of 1999.
Surviving in addition to his daughter of Wooster are two other daughters, Janice Reed Richardson, with whom he resided and Elizabeth Lee Richardson of Vineland, N.J.; two sons, Frank Johnson Richardson II of Naperville, Ill. and Christopher Clark Richardson of Vineland, N.J.; eight grandchildren and a sister, Betty Jean Caperton of Kingsport, Tenn.

Chi-an Lee
TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Chi-an Lee, 80, of Taipei, Taiwan, died on Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, after a lengthy illness.
He was the father of Sue-min Lee of Wooster.
A traditional Chinese funeral service and burial was held for him on Oct. 5 in Taipei.
Surviving are his wife Yue-jiao Lin; three sons and their spouses, Dr. Yong-feng (Wolfgang) and Julie Lee of Shanghai, China; Dr. Lien-feng (Len) and Peggy Lee of St. Charles, Mo.; Ming-feng and Yue-mei Lee of Taipei, Taiwan; two daughters and their spouses, Sue-min and Joe Lee of Wooster; Sue-jen and Mr. Tzai of Taipei, Taiwan and 10 grandchildren.
Three brothers and two sisters died previously.

Mary Black
ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. -- Mary Black, 91, of Rochester Hills, Mich. and formerly of Wooster, died Monday, Oct. 16, 2000.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Potere-Modetz Funeral Home, 339 Walnut Blvd., Rochester, Mich. Burial will be at Wooster Cemetery.
She married Rollin Black. He died previously.
Surviving are daughters, Marlene Henderson and Peggy Truttman; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and three nieces.

Joe Schafer
MIAMI, Fla. -- Joe Schafer, 85, 9315 Jamaica Drive, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000.
Military services were held Friday, Oct. 6 in Miami, Fla. Burial will be held at a later date at Oak Grove Cemetery in Shreve.
Surviving are his wife, Eloise (Brown) Schafer, formerly of Big Prairie; three sons, Art Schafer, Bill (Marie) Harris of Miami, Fla. and Rodney (Debbie) Harris of Georgia; a daughter, Sherry Ornes; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Ralph Savage
DOYLESTOWN -- Ralph E. Savage, 71, died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2000.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 12 to 1 p.m. at Zak-Monbarren Funeral Home in Doylestown. A graveside service will follow at Chestnut Hill Cemetery with Elder Wendell Camden officiating.

Pat Butner
WOOSTER -- Pat Butner, 78, 5748 Old Lincoln Way West, died Sunday morning, Oct. 15, 2000, at Sunset Nursing Home in Millersburg.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the McIntire, Davis and Greene Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Fortune officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
She was born Jan. 19, 1921 in Taos, N.M. to Ralph and Eva (Stone) Dixon and married Elvy Butner. He died in 1989.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Mack (Lucille) Hanna of Wooster; three grandchildren, Vicky Shammo, Eric Johns and Cindy Provance; four great-grandchildren Stephen and Cortney Shammo and Christian and Brooke Provance; a sister, Jean Carpenter of Carlsbad, N.M. and a brother, Ralph Dixon Jr. of Tacoma, Wash.

Jesse Power
WOOSTER -- Jesse D. Power, 74, of Wooster, died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2000, at Wooster Community Hospital.
A service of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home and a Memorial Mass will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 139 Third St. NE, New Philadelphia. Burial will be a St. Mary Cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was born March 5, 1926 in S. Zanesville to Lee O. and Lillian M. (Tittle) Power.
Surviving are his wife, Caroline (Bonadio) Power, whom he married April 26, 1946; children and their spouses, Dana M. and Terri Power of Upper Arlington, Kevin T. and Susan Power of Wayne County and Scott M. Power of Dover; six grandchildren; brothers, Paul A. Power of Wooster and Lee L. Power of Canton and sisters, Dee E. Williams, Katherine J. Lanning and Barbara J. Hanna, all of Zanesville and Tracie Daspin of Ft. Lee, N.J.

Earl Miller Jr.
ORRVILLE -- Earl R. Miller Jr., 43, 725 Markley Ave., died Monday, Oct. 16, 2000, at Doctors Hospital in Massillon.
Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at the McIntire, Davis and Greene Funeral Home. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Those who wish may make contributions to the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses.
He was born July 4, 1957 to Earl R. and Nellie L. (Wolford) Miller Sr.
Surviving are children and their spouses, Earl R. and Allison Miller III of Wooster and Carrie and Jeremy Fredericks of Orrville; a grandchild; his fiancee, Christine Wood of Orrville; brothers and sister-in-law, Richard J. and Liz Miller of Wooster and Harry Miller of Wooster and sisters and brother-in-law, Norene and Robert Jaynor of Wooster, Carol Blackman of Florida and Susan Markley of Wooster.

ORRVILLE -- Rosalie J. Yoder, 77, East Sassafras Street, died Friday evening, Oct. 13, 2000, from injuries sustained in an auto accident in Mathias, W.Va.
Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Oak Grove Mennonite Church, Smithville with Jayne Byler and Ralph Reinford officiating. Burial will be at 9 a.m. at Oak Grove Mennonite Cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at Oak Grove Mennonite Church.

She was born May 26, 1923 in Ligonier, Ind. to Orlando and Clara (Stoltzfus) Hooley.
She married Richard J. Yoder on Aug. 28, 1948.
Surviving are daughters, Gretchen (John) Christopher of Cobbs Creek, Va., Christina (Vic) Buckwalter of Keezletown, Va. and Amy (Randy) Murray of Orrville, sons, Richard (Connie) Yoder Jr. of Normal, Ill. and Jeremiah Yoder of Orrville; a sister Joy Schrock of Ontario, Calif.; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

RoseAnn Yoder Wright and Paul Wright Jr.
WOOSTER -- RoseAnn M. Yoder Wright, 48, and Paul W. Wright Jr., 46, of Burbank Road, died Friday evening, Oct. 13, 2000, from injuries sustained in an auto accident near Mathias, W.Va.
Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Oak Grove Mennonite Church, Smithville with Jayne Byler and Ralph Reinford officiating. Burial will be at 9 a.m. at Oak Grove Mennonite Cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at Oak Grove Mennonite Church.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Wooster Mennonite Church for a trust account for the sons.
Gresser Funeral Home in Orrville is in charge of arrangements.
RoseAnn was born Sept. 7, 1951 in Akron to Richard and Rosalie (Hooley) Yoder.
Paul was born Nov. 15, 1953 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Paul and Virginia Wright.
Surviving are two sons, Nigel and Kiernan.
RoseAnn is also survived by sisters, Gretchen (John) Christopher of Cobbs Creek, Va., Christina (Vic) Buchwalter of Keezletown, Va. and Amy (Randy) Murray of Orrville and brothers, Richard (Connie) Yoder Jr. of Normal, Ill. and Jermiah Yoder of Orrville.
Paul is also survived by his parents of Rockford, Ill. and a sister, Mary Sue Wright, also of Rockford, Ill.

Merle Curie
WOOSTER -- Merle "Skip" Curie, 67, 200 S. Market St., died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000, at Wade Park Veterans Administration Hospital in Cleveland.
Private services will be held Thursday at Roberts Funeral Home, Sherwood Chapel, Wooster, with the Rev. O.J. Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
He was born Feb. 2, 1933, in Bodil, to Emil and Ruth (Lance) Curie and married Mary Lou Carney on Jan. 21, 1955. She died July 11, 1988.
Surviving are children, Vicky (Daniel) Collins of Ashley, Cheryl (Willard) Moore of Marshallville, Scott Curie of California, Laurie (Ira) Stiles and Catherine (Kent) Eberly, both of Orrville, Ricky (Debbie) Curie of Funk and Stephan Curie of Wooster; 14 grandchildren; and brothers, David Curie of Shreve and Dennis Curie of California.
