Mary Whitehead
MANSFIELD -- Mary E. Whitehead, 77, of Oak Grove Manor, formerly of Wooster, died Thursday morning, March 2, 2000, at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital, after an extended illness.
Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors in Mansfield. Burial will be at Little Washington Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday from 2-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
She was born March 25, 1922, in Marietta to Paul and Marguerite (Charles) McWhirter and married Jearl D. Whitehead June 16, 1945. He died in 1994.
Surviving are a son, Wayne Whitehead and his wife, Marjorie of Mansfield; a niece and a nephew.

Genevra Carrier
LODI -- Genevra J. Carrier, 95, of Lodi, died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at Life Care of Medina, where she had resided for the past five years.
There will be a private funeral service at Parker & Son Funeral Home in Lodi with the Rev. David Howell officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Lodi.
There will be no calling hours.
She was born May 11, 1904 in Coventry Township (Summit County) to Frederick R. and Edna E. (Sanford) Carrier.

Frances Green
COLUMBUS -- Frances R. Green, 92, of Columbus, died Saturday, March 4, 2000, at Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon.
She was the mother and mother-in-law of Ella Lou and Lyle Swartz of Smithville.
Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Schoedinger Hilltop Chapel, 3030 W. Broad St., Columbus. Burial will be at Silent Home Cemetery in Reynoldsburg.
Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was born to E. Darl and Fannie Rhoads.
Surviving in addition to her daughter and son-in-law are a son and daughter-in-law, Garry D. and Gloria Green; 14 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

Cleo Wasson
WEST SALEM -- Cleo M. Wasson, 92, formerly of 10293 Lattasburg Road, died Saturday afternoon, March 4, 2000, at Smithville-Western Care Center, Wooster, where she had resided since October, 1988.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Congress Community Church with the Rev. Christopher Cottrel officiating. Burial will be at Fairhaven Cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Custer Funeral Home, Wooster and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
Memorial contributions may be made to Congress Community Church, 192 N. Main St., West Salem 44287 or Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691.
She was born Feb. 12, 1908 in Wayne County to George and Florence (McKee) Strock and married Joseph A. Wasson in Madisonburg in 1934. He died in 1995.
Surviving are sons and their wives, O. Allan and Anne Wasson of Olney, Md., Dwight O. and Judy Wasson of Wooster and Robert P. and Freda Wasson of Ankeny, Iowa; a daughter and her husband, Helen and Charles A. Raudebaugh of Wooster; eight grandchildren; a great-grandson; two step-great-grandchildren and a brother and his wife, Roland and Ellen Strock of Wooster.

Delano Engel
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Delano D. Engel, 74, 1544 Naldo Ave., Jacksonville, Fla., died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at the Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville, Fla., following a short illness.
Private services were held Saturday, March 4, at Alexander Funeral Home in Millersburg. The Rev. David Carrick officiated. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery in Millersburg.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
He was born Feb. 7, 1926 in Millersburg to Leroy P. and Rosie (Bilderback) Engel.
Surviving is a sister, Mildred E. McKee of Millersburg.

Alta McCartney
KILLBUCK -- Alta "Pearl" McCartney, 71, 215 S. Water St., died Sunday afternoon, March 5, 2000, at her home, following an extended illness.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg. Burial will be at Killbuck Cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was born Nov. 12, 1928 in Pentress, W.Va. to Hunter B. and Tillie (Wright) Foley.

Pearl Geig
WADSWORTH TOWNSHIP -- Pearl E. (Kleckner) Geig, 86, of Wadsworth Township, died Friday, March 3, 2000, at her residence.
Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Carlson Funeral Home, 3477 Medina Road, Medina, with the Rev. Dr. David Tennent officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Wadsworth.
Friends may call Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday from 12-1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Medina County Hospice, 797 N. Court St., Medina 44256.
She was born July 17, 1913 in Clinton to Russell and Pearl Kleckner and married Gabriel Geig. He died previously.
Surviving are children, Gary (Jan) Geig of Doylestown, Larry Geig of Wadsworth, Pearl (Walter) Meade of Norton, and Sue Ann (Daniel) Belu of Greensboro, N.C.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a sister, Esther O'Kolish of Barberton.

Marcella Hofstetter
BIG PRAIRIE -- Marcella Hofstetter, 83, 9132 McFadden Road, died Sunday, March 5, 2000, at West View Manor Nursing Home in Wooster.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Johnston-Schlabach Funeral Home in Shreve with the Rev. Priscilla E. Jackson officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Shreve.
Friends may call tonight (Monday) from 7-9 at the funeral home.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691.
She was born Sept. 2, 1916 in Holmes County to Elmer and Ethel (Bevington) Hider and married Lloyd Hofstetter on Oct. 26, 1946. He died Feb. 14, 1998.
Surviving are two daughters, Virginia (Tom) Hostettler of Big Prairie and Carol Johnides of Goodyear, Ariz.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a brother, Gerald Hider of Wooster and Lubbock, Texas.

Beatrice Trodahl
WOOSTER -- Beatrice A. Trodahl, 89, formerly of Sturgeon Bay, Wis., died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at West View Manor in Wooster.
Services were held Thursday, March 2 at Corpus Christi Church in Sturgeon Bay, Wis.
Arrangements were handled by Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay, Wis.
She was born March 28, 1910 in Clay Banks, Wis. to Charles and Mary (Cihlar) Wortiska and married Julian Anderson on Feb. 3, 1937. He died March 7, 1957. She then married Doren Trodahl on Nov. 1, 1961. He died July 20, 1979.
Surviving are a son, Robert J. Anderson, Wooster; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a brother, John Wortiska of Bakersfield, Calif.

Fannie Schlabach
MILLERSBURG -- Fannie C. Schlabach, 64, 4665 State Route 39, died Monday morning, March 6, 2000, at the Joel Pomerene Memorial Hospital in Millersburg, following a sudden illness.
Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Bethel Fellowship, Berlin with the Rev. Bill Mullet officiating. Burial will be at the Church Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Bethel Church from 6-8 tonight (Tuesday) and from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.
Arrangements are being handled by Alexander Funeral Home in Millersburg.
She was born Oct. 28, 1935 in Clark Township to Crist "C.O." and Mary Ann (Miller) Schlabach.
Surviving are three sisters and three brothers, Ella Schlabach of Gap Mills, W.Va., Aden Schlabach of Hartville, Esther Troyer, Katie Schlabach and Norman Schlabach, all of Millersburg and Henry and his wife, Leona Schlabach of Sugarcreek.

Emma Tracey-Tripodi
WOOSTER -- Emma J. Tracey-Tripodi, 93, of Heritage Park (formerly Austin Health Care Center), died Monday, March 6, 2000, at Heritage Park.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, Sherwood Chapel with the Rev. William Valentine officiating. Burial will be at Apple Creek Cemetery.
Friends may call one hour prior to the services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
She was born June 30, 1906 in West Bedford to Arleigh and Gertude (Dobson) Parrish and married Otto Tracey in 1924. He died in 1955. She then married Bruno Tripodi. He died in 1975.
Surviving are her children, Ken (Nancy) Tracey and Betty (Howard) Staley, both of Columbus and H. Dean (Esther) Tracey of Toledo; a daughter-in-law, Betty Tracey of West Salem; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and two sisters, Annabell Kirschner and Mary Sturgis, both of Florida.

Lois Dannemiller
MADISON -- Lois E. Dannemiller, 98, died Sunday, March 5, 2000, at Western Reserve Convalescent Home in Kirtland.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Doylestown, with Fr. David McCarthy officiating. Burial will be at Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Zak-Monbarren Funeral Home in Doylestown.
She was born Jan. 15, 1902 in Doylestown to Saul M. and Ida A. (Werner) Dannemiller and was a resident of Madison.
Surviving are a sister-in-law, Kathryn Dannemiller of East Lake; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Angel Johnson
WOOSTER -- Angel Christopher Johnson, infant son of Timothy and Lori Johnson, was stillborn Saturday, March 4, 2000, at Wooster Community Hospital.
Private family services will be held. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are being handled by Zak-Monbarren Funeral Home in Doylestown.
Surviving in addition to his parents are a brother, Timmy of the home; his grandparents, Robert and Judy Bieri of Doylestown, Tom and Grace Daye of Wooster; great-grandmothers, Sylvia Jenkins of Wooster and Dorothy Sherman of Doylestown and many aunts and uncles.

Rev. Harold Fair
WOOSTER -- Rev. Harold Frederick Fair, 65, 4455 Cleveland Road, died Tuesday morning, March 7, 2000, at Wooster Community Hospital.
Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Wintergreen Ledges Church of God in Akron with the Revs. Jim Roma and John Phillips officiating. Burial will be at Creston Maple Mound Cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Murray Funeral Home in Creston and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
He was born Jan. 9, 1935 in East Butler, Pa. to Brady O. and Olive L. (Pfaff) Fair and married Jean A. Bloss of Sharpsville, Pa. on June 23, 1962.
Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters, Kimberly A. and her husband, Shawn Boyce of Conneautville, Pa., Karen M. Fair of Wooster and Krystal L. and her husband, Robert Lendon of Burbank; two granddaughters, Kelly Anne and Kari Jean Boyce; a sister, Evelyn Duncan of Saltsburg, Pa.; a brother, Carl Fair of Indiana, Pa. and many nieces and nephews.

Merle Gifford
DOYLESTOWN -- Merle F. Gifford, 81, died Tuesday, March 7, 2000.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Zak-Monbarren Funeral Home in Doylestown with Dr. Charles F. Billington officiating. Burial will be at Chestnut Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was born October 16, 1918 in Doylestown to Eugene A. and Leah (DeNise) Gifford and married Ethel Shaw on June 26, 1948. She survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Ethel (Shaw) Gifford are sons, David (Dawn) Gifford of Doylestown, Keith (Barb) Gifford of Doylestown and granddaughters, Stacy and Brooke Gifford of Doylestown.

Mark Collins
WOOSTER -- Mark Alan Collins, 37, 4400 Melrose Drive, No. 16, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 6, 2000, at Cleveland MetroHealth Center after a courageous five year battle with cancer. Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Heritage Baptist Church in Smithville. Pastor Michael Alvis will officiate with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Akron.
Friends may call Thursday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Gillman Funeral Home in Rittman and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Apostolic Christian Home, 10680 Steiner Road, Rittman 44270.
He was born March 23, 1962 in Akron.
Surviving are his wife, Pamela (Provence); his parents, Duane and Marjorie (Kaufman) Collins of Norton; a brother, Duane (Cheryl) Collins Jr., of Norton; sisters, Mrs. Loren (Chris) Rufener of Rittman, Mrs. John (Cynthia) Kulton of Wadsworth, Mrs. Kirk (Carole) Edwards of Norton, and Mrs. Ray (Caryn) Brindle of Louisville, Ky.; nieces, Haylee and Rachel; and nephews, Shaun, Shane, Joshua, Jeremy, Jonathan, Tyler, Benjamin, Nathan, David, and Joel.

Edson Bechtel
HOLMESVILLE -- Edson H. Bechtel, 81, of 301 Millersburg Road, died Saturday, March 11, 2000, at Aultman Hospital, Canton.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Gresser Funeral Home in Orrville, with Pastor John R. Long officiating. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery, Orrville.
Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was born Dec. 15, 1918, in Orrville to Jacob Elmer and Florence (Hoffman) Bechtel and married A. Jane South in 1946. She died Aug. 2, 1973.
Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law Ron and Jane Bechtel of Akron and Lowell and Nancy Bechtel of Wooster; a daughter and son-in-law, Joanna and Therman Briggs of Sheridan, Wyo.; grandchildren Vickie and Neil Darlington of Las Vegas, Nev., Misty Briggs of Sheridan, Wyo., Chris and Chip Bechtel of Akron and Bethany and Cory Bechtel of Wooster; a great-grandchild, Jessica Joanna Darlington of Las Vegas, Nev.; a brother, Donald Bechtel of Beach City; a sister, Marjorie Everhardt of Massillon; Mary Bechtel of Akron; and a special friend, Gladys Selan of Massillon.

Ruth Knittle
SEBRING -- Ruth Ann Knittle, 91, 800 South 15th St., died Wednesday, March 8, 2000, at Crandall Medical Center in Sebring, following a short illness.
She was the stepmother of Lois Knittle Smith of Rittman.
A memorial service will be Saturday, March 18 at 2 p.m. at Bennet Chapel at Copeland Oaks with the Rev. Fay Botten officiating. She has donated her body to the Northeastern Ohio College of Medicine in Rootstown.
Memorial contributions may be made to National Audubon Society or Habitat for Humanity.
Arrangements were handled by Dean's Funeral Home in Sebring.
She was born Dec. 13, 1908 in Pasadena, Calif. to Henry A. and Anna (Renton) Smith.
Surviving in addition to her stepdaughter are her husband of seven years, Rev. Howard R. Knittle; two daughters, Annette Kelly of London, England and Susan Creed of Spokane, Wash; two grandchildren; a step grandchild and four great-grandchildren.
Her first husband, Randall F. Creed died in 1972.
