Paul Burley
PAYNE LAKE, Mich. -- Paul Westley Burley, 73, of Payne Lake, Mich., went to be with his Lord on Friday, April 21, 2000.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Orangeville Baptist Church with Pastor Dan Bowman officiating. Interment will be at Coman Cemetery. Visitation one hour prior to service at the church.
Family will greet relatives and friends Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Archer, Hampel & Kubiak Funeral Home, Wayland Chapel, Wayland, Mich. (616) 792-2237.
Memorial contributions may be made to Orangeville Baptist Church or Wings of Hope Hospice.
He was born August 27, 1926 in Wooster.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia (Patton), whom he married on June 28, 1947 in Ashland.
Also surviving are his children, Bill (Kathy) Burley of Shreve, Deborah (Brian) Martin of Caledonia, Mich., Richard (Jessie) Burley of Gun Lake, Mich., Phil (Joy) Burley of Moline, Mich. and Brian (Tracie) Burley of Gun Lake, Mich.; grandchildren, Jennifer Priest and her fiance, Jeff Myers, Ethan and Landon Burley, Wendy Martin, Diane (Jamie) Fugate, Wes and Michael Martin, Phillip and Emma Parsons, Rachel, Rebecca, Ryanna, Renee and Jacob Burley, Elizabeth and Brian Burley; great-grandchildren, Kristin and Matthew Priest and Nolan Fugate; two sisters, Mildred Puster and Glenna Bate, both of Ashland; sister-in-law, Barbara (Bob) Waitkunas of Shreve; also many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rose Miller
MILLERSBURG -- Rose Miller, 71, Millersburg, died Saturday morning, April 22, 2000, at Aultman Hospital in Canton, following an extended illness.
Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the St. Peter's Catholic Church in Millersburg with Father Ronald J. Aubry officiating. Burial will be at the Killbuck Cemetery.
Friends may call Monday from 7-9 p.m. at the Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg with Prayer services beginning at 8:30 p.m. Monday.
She was born Oct. 3, 1928 in Philadelphia, Pa. and was the daughter of Leo and Anna Marie (Enzerma) Venuto. She married Robert Miller on Jan. 19. 1952. He survives.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a son and his wife, Anthony L. and Carol F. Miller of Loudonville; four grandchildren, Matthew Miller, Charles Miller, Tasha Miller and Erich Miller and a brother, Joseph Venuto of Sun City, Ariz.

John Fleming
CRESTON -- John C. Fleming, 17, 158 S. Main St., Creston, died Friday, April 21, 2000, at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, following a water accident in Creston.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with the Rev. Donald Kuntz officiating. Burial will be at Creston Maple Mound Cemetery.
Friends may call Monday from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to John Fleming Scholarship Fund in care of Stebbins National Bank, P.O. Box 1113, Creston 44217.
He was born Feb. 7, 1983 in Wooster to Gregory Curtis and Karen (Burns) Fleming.
Surviving are his parents; two sisters, Jessica and Justina, both of the home; grandparents, Joe and Sue Fleming of Creston and Carrell and Ivy Burns of Frametown, W.Va.; aunts, uncles and cousins.

Lawrence Grosjean
FREDERICKSBURG -- Lawrence E. "Tiny" Grosjean, 76, 7147 Fredericksburg Road, died Friday, April 21, 2000, at Glendora Health Care Center, following a period of declining health.
Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Moreland United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Stull officiating. Burial will be at Moreland Cemetery.
Friends may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Fredericksburg and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
Memorial contributions may be made to Fredericksburg Fire Department, P.O. Box 275, Fredericksburg 44627.
He was born June 16, 1923 in Fredericksburg to Eugene and Effie (Lawrence) Grosjean and married Betty Conrad on March 12, 1955. She survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Linda Grosjean of Wooster and a son, Larry and his wife, Janie Grosjean of Fredericksburg and three grandchildren.

Wilfred Nussbaum
NAVARRE -- Wilfred G. "Willie" Nussbaum, 72, of Navarre, died Saturday evening, April 22, 2000, at his home after a period of declining health.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Stanwood Community Church, with the Rev. Jon L. Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Stanwood Cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton, or one hour prior to the services at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Stanwood Community Church Building Fund, 14715 Stanwood St., SW, Navarre 44662.
He was born July 9, 1927 near Kidron to William A. and Chloe May (Culp) Nussbaum and married Irene F. Woods on Oct. 4, 1953. She survives.
Other survivors include children, Rex G. Nussbaum and his wife, Julie, and Connie L. Nussbaum, all of Navarre; three grandchildren; sisters, Norma G. Frizell of Smithville, Mrs. Edward (Dorothy L.) Boley of Orrville and Mrs. Norman (Eileen J.) Slabaugh of Kidron; and brothers, O. Stanley Nussbaum of Orrville and Virgil C. Nussbaum of Canton.

Howard Brown
RITTMAN -- Howard T. Brown, 81, 155 E. Sunset Drive, died Saturday, April 22, 2000, at Akron General Medical Center.
There will be no services or calling hours. Burial of the cremains will be held at a later date at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman. Gillman Funeral Home in Rittman, is handling arrangements.
He was born June 30, 1918 in Kendallville, Ind., to Tom and Ethel (Miller) Brown.
Surviving are daughters, Patricia Clark of Norco, Calif., and Sue Siegferth of Columbus; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
His wife, Evelyn, died in 1977.

Opal Knowlton
ASHLAND -- Opal C. Knowlton, 85, 230 E. 11th St., died Saturday evening, April 22, 2000, at Kingston of Ashland.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Denbow-Primm-Kemery Funeral Home in Ashland, with Chaplain Kenneth Lindecamp officiating. Burial will be at Ashland Cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was born Jan. 18, 1915 in Mount Hope to Charles and Carrie (Warnes) Aufrance and married Melvin F. Knowlton in 1932. He died in September of 1991.
Surviving are a son, Melvin C. Knowlton and his wife, Elizabeth, of Ashland; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and sisters, Coesta McAdams and Mildred Inks, both of Orrville and Jo Ann Kauffman of Wooster.

Frank Gavinesky
WADSWORTH -- Frank Gavinesky, 76, 218 Fairview Ave., died Monday, April 24, 2000, at Rittman Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Graveside services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery in Wadsworth, with the Rev. Don Trigg officiating.
There will be no calling hours. The body has been cremated. Gillman Funeral Home in Rittman, is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to Sharon Center United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 239, Sharon Center 44274.
He was born Feb. 20, 1924, in Greensburg, Pa., to Frank and Anna (Gorma) Gavinesky and married Anne Rodich. She survives.
Other survivors include children and their spouses, Dan and Shari Gavinesky of Cuyahoga Falls and Gloria and Dennis Vanke of Barberton; three grandchildren; and a brother, John Gavinesky of Rittman.

James Mapes
LODI -- James Mapes, 75, of Lodi, died Saturday, April 22, 2000, at Evergreen Rehabilitation & Care Center in Medina, after a lengthy illness.
Graveside services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Burbank Cemetery, with the Rev. George Swartzfager of Lodi officiating.
There will be no calling hours. Parker & Son Funeral Home in Lodi, is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 8439 River Corners Road, Homerville 44235; or to Alzheimer's Association, 1815 W. Market St., Suite 301, Akron 44313-7067.
He was born Sept. 19, 1924 in Willard to James B. and Velyria O. (Gast) Mapes.
Surviving are sons, Larry Mapes and his wife, Letha, of Lodi and Gary Mapes of Valley City; and two grandchildren.
His wife, Doreen Mapes, died in 1999.

Rosemary Beck
BRINKHAVEN -- Rosemary Ann Beck, 51, 15127 County Road 10, died Monday, April 24, 2000, at Aultman Hospital in Canton.
Memorial services will be Thursday at 7 p.m. at North Bend Church of the Brethren, with Pastor Jerry Keegan officiating. Private burial will be at North Bend Church Cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. at Fischer Funeral Home in Danville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International Bible Memorial.
She was born Aug. 29, 1948 in Warren, Pa., to Bert J. and Frances (Burdick) Arbogast and married Myron Beck on July 8, 1967. He survives.
Other survivors include children, Pam Valley of Brinkhaven, Nichole Beck and Jay Beck, both of Mount Vernon and Scott Beck of Millersburg; four grandchildren; and a brother, Garry Arbogast of Brinkhaven.

Forest Geiger
WEST SALEM -- Forest K. Geiger, 85, of West Salem, died Monday, April 24, 2000, at Kingston of Ashland.
Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem, with Pastors Robert Holmes and Bradley Kelley officiating. Burial will be at Nankin Cemetery.
Friends may call today (Tuesday) from 2-4 and 7-9 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Brethren Church Building Fund, 8992 Firestone Road, P.O. Box 25, Homerville 44235.
He was born Aug. 7, 1914 in Ashland to Haskell and Jennie (Kissel) Geiger and married Mary Pinski on March 28, 1941. She survives.
Other survivors include daughters and their spouses, Nancy and Duane Smith of West Salem and Margaret and Arnold Wacker of Mansfield; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Esther Shenberger of Lexington.
A son, Jack Geiger, died in 1968. A sister and three brothers also died previously.

L. Noble Brinker
WEST SALEM -- L. Noble Brinker, 86, of West Salem, died Tuesday, April 25, 2000, at Samaritan Hospital in Ashland.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem, with the Rev. Hope Eberly officiating. Burial will be at Hazzard Cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Town & Country Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 175, West Salem 44287.
He was born May 14, 1913, near West Salem to Albert and Clara (Farner) Brinker and married Gladys Kline on Sept. 4, 1937. She survives.
Other survivors include daughters and their spouses, Sandra and Robert Miller and Diana and John McClure, all of Wooster; grandchildren, Scott, Steve and Stan Miller, Shelly Dailey, Greg McClure, Jennifer McClure-Spillers and Jodi Burgan; and great-grandchildren, Andrew and Kaitlyn Dailey, Tyler, Eric and Leah McClure and Kyle Burgan.

Edna Pyles
DALTON -- Edna I. Pyles, 102, of Shady Lawn Nursing Home, Dalton, formerly of Orrville, died Monday, April 24, 2000, at Aultman Hospital in Canton, after a brief illness.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Gresser Funeral Home in Orrville, with the Rev. Tom Ledford officiating. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery, Orrville.
Friends may call tonight (Wednesday) from 7-9 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Happy Hearts, in care of Orrville Christian Church, 925 N. Elm St., Orrville 44667.
She was born April 18, 1898, in Portsmouth to William and Minnie (Wade) Dutiel and married Leslie Pyles on Nov. 25, 1918. He died March 19, 1974.
Surviving are a son, Alvin C. Pyles of North Palm Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Elmina Yoder
SUGARCREEK -- Elmina Yoder, 94, 3011 County Road 70, died Tuesday, April 25, 2000, at her residence after an extended illness.
Services will be Friday at 9 a.m. at the residence, with Bishop Mose E. Hershberger officiating. Burial will be at Yoder Cemetery, Clark Township, Holmes County.
Friends may call anytime today (Wednesday) after noon at the residence. Smith Funeral Home in Sugarcreek, is handling arrangements.
She was born March 28, 1906, in Holmes County to Abner and Fannie (Beachy) Hershberger and married Sam J. Yoder. He died May 18, 1980.
