DALTON -- Herbert W. Nussbaum, 71, 231 Tanglewood Drive, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2001, at Shady Lawn Health Care Center in Dalton following a four-month illness.
Funeral services for the family will be held at Auble Funeral Home in Orrville Monday afternoon with the Rev. Darrell Ediger officiating. Entombment will take place in the mausoleum at Sherwood Memorial Gardens in Wooster.
There will be no calling hours.

He was born in Kidron on Sept. 18, 1929, the son of Noah and Agnes (Hofstetter) Nussbaum. He was united in marriage to Rosine Miller on Oct. 1, 1949, in Kidron.
He is survived by his wife Rosine; daughter, Sue Averill of Kent; son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Patty Nussbaum; two grandchildren; a brother, Don (Fritzi) Nussbaum of Akron, Pa., and sisters, Hazel (Harold) Himes of Wooster and Karen (Andrew) Jao of Taiwan.
James Wirth
WOOSTER -- James E. Wirth, 52, 137 N. Bauer Road, died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2001, at Wooster Community Hospital.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at McIntire, Davis and Greene Funeral Home with Cathy Harter Wirth officiating. Burial will be at Sterling Cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was born Feb. 8, 1949, in Wayne County to Roy and Maxine (Ridle) Wirth.
Surviving are his wife, Tammy Pritchett, who he married May 27, 1995, and a sister, Deb Reynolds of Creston.
Rhea Sargent
OAK RIDGE, Tenn. -- Rhea Vivian Sargent, 70, 226 S. Purdue, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2001, at Methodist Medical Center, Oak Ridge, Tenn.

She was born Oct. 26, 1930, in Ashland to Herbert Austin and Frances (Dawson) Sargent.
Surviving are a sister, Caryol (Earl) Bridenstine of Smithville and a brother, Bernard R. Sargent of Harriman, Tenn.; a niece and a nephew.

ORRVILLE -- Ronald C. "Buck" Hebb, 67, 8973 Lincolnway East, died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2001, at his residence following a six-month illness.

He was born Sept. 14, 1933, in Parsons, W.Va., to Russell C. and Jessie C. (Roe) Hebb and married Jennie I. Dunkle in 1957 in Maryland. She survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Ronald (Wanda) Hebb and Sam (Brandy) Hebb of Apple Creek, daughters, Jean (Chuck) Finley and Brenda Smith of Wooster, Rebecca (Ronald) Beason of Apple Creek, and Margaret Hebb of Thomas, W.Va.; 21 grandchildren; sisters, Tina Thiel of Wooster, Margaret (James) Pelfrey of Marshallville and Sheila (Larry) Pyle of Holmesville.
Lucille Thrush
ASHLAND -- Lucille B. Thrush, 89, of Smith Road, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001, at her residence, following an extended illness.
Graveside services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at New Pittsburg Cemetery with the Rev. Delaine McGhee officiating.

She was born Sept. 29, 1911, in Ashland, to Tilden H. and Sylvia A. Wise and married Robert Thrush on Aug. 8, 1942. He survives.
Surviving in addition to her husband are her sister, Alice Rickett of Ashland and several nieces and nephews.
Virginia Helbert
MANSFIELD -- Virginia M. Helbert, 76, 1925 Hale Road, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, at MedCentral Mansfield, following an extended illness.
Mrs. Helbert was born Jan. 26, 1925, in Shelby.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond W. Helbert, whom she married July 1, 1950; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Steven and Carolyn Helbert of Crestline and Timothy Helbert of Mansfield; a daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Bill Manassa of Jacksonville, Fla.; six grandchildren and a sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Wal Hardie of Shelby.

NORTH LAWRENCE -- Samuel E. "Sam" Withrow, 83, Back Massillon Road, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001, at Children's Hospital Medical Center of Akron Burn Unit, following a short illness.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Michael's Lutheran Church near Marshallville with the Rev. Thomas Fox officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

He was born March 10, 1918, in Akron, to William J. and Florence (Niday) Withrow and married Ethel I. Forrer in Akron on Feb. 24, 1945. She survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are a son and daughter-in-law, David and Cynthia Withrow of North Lawrence; a granddaughter; a great-grandson; and sisters, Ruth Smith of Tucson, Ariz., Mildred Warner of Akron, Thelma (George) Rowe of Sugarcreek and Carolyn Messner of Oklahoma.
Susan Schlabach
SUGARCREEK -- Susan "Susie" Schlabach, 74, of Pleasant Valley Road, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, at Union Hospital, Dover.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Maranatha Fellowship Church at Sugarcreek with Bishop Jonas J.E. Miller officiating. Burial will be at Union Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call tonight (Thursday) from 6-8 and Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Maranatha Fellowship Church.

She was born Sept. 19, 1926, in Holmes County, to Crist and Bena (Miller) Beachy and married Mose D. Schlabach on March 13, 1952. He died May 5, 1992.
Surviving are two sons, Doran (Kay) Schlabach of Hutchinson, Kan. and Dallas Schlabach of Baltic; three daughters, Mrs. Marion (Dinah) Weaver of Dundee, Rhoda Schlabach of Baltic and Mrs. Jerry (Rachel) Beachy of Sugarcreek; seven grandchildren; a brother, Henry (Mary) Beachy of Walnut Creek; and four sisters, Mrs. Pete (Esther) Schrock and Mrs. Roman (Lizzie Ann) Beachy, both of Sugarcreek; Mrs. Sam (Ella) Miller of Millersburg and Mrs. Noah (Elva) Miller of Berlin.
Thelma Richard
WOOSTER -- Thelma C. Richard, 83, formerly of College Hills Retirement Village, died peacefully Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 4, 2001, at Smithville-Western Care Center, Wooster, following a lengthy illness.
Memorial services will be Friday at 7 p.m. at Salem Lutheran Church, 4873 Cleveland Road, Wooster, with Pastor Ken Scheck II officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Cremation has taken place and a private interment of cremains will take place at Creston Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Thelma was born on Jan. 10, 1918, in Burbank (Wayne County), to Ross E. and Dorothy Grier. She married Charles I. Richard on July 17, 1934. He died in 1973.
She is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Sara and James Mowrer of Wausau, Wis., Marian and Weldon Howman and Susan and David Grimwood, all of Wooster; two sons and their wives, Kenneth E. and Barbara Richard and Irvin J. and Janice Richard, all of Wooster; 23 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.
Henry Wengerd
PLAIN CITY -- Henry E. Wengerd, 21, of Plain City, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
He was the grandson of Ezra and Fannie Wengerd of Apple Creek.
Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at United Bethel Mennonite Church, 11342 Lafayette-Plain City Road, Plain City, with Pastors Jeff Yutzy, John Coblentz and Alton Beachy officiating. Burial will be in Bethesda Cemetery, 5260 Converse-Huff Road.

He was born Sept. 7, 1979, in Orrville, to Eli and Sarah (Yoder) Wengerd.
Surviving in addition to his grandparents are his parents of Guys Mills, Pa.; three brothers, Daniel Wengerd of Plain City, Owen Wengerd of Hutchinson, Kan. and Eli Wengerd Jr. of Guys Mills, Pa.; five sisters, Naomi, Ella, Rosanna, Clara and Mary Wengerd, all of Guys Mills, Pa.; and maternal grandparents, Henry and Ella Yoder of Baltic.

WOOSTER -- Jean E. Johnson, 73, 2227 Blachleyville Road, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, at Massillon Community Hospital.

She was born Sept. 25, 1927, in Creston to Merle and Virgil (Steele) Johnson.

He was born Aug. 4, 1921, in Greensburg, Pa., to Edward Blaine and Harriott Caroline (Willard) Lyons.

She was born Sept. 3, 1932, to Elmer and Mary Elizabeth (Breitenbucher) Stitzlein in Loudonville and married Marion Allison on April 17, 1955. He survives.
Also surviving are children, Randall (Lori) Allison of Detroit, Mich., James (Lisa) Allison of San Francisco, Calif. and Laura Allison of Columbus; sisters, Anne Schneider of Minneapolis, Minn. and Carol Stitzlein of Columbus; and a brother, Elmer Stitzlein Jr. of Seattle, Wash.
Edith Heyman
WOOSTER -- Edith Heyman, 89, 1615 Cleveland Road, died Sunday morning, Sept. 2, 2001, at Wooster Community Hospital.

She was born Edith Katherine Marks on May 1, 1912, in New York City. She was married to Ben Gedalecia. He died in 1969. In 1976 she married Harold Heyman, who died in 1987.
Surviving are her son, David Gedalecia, and daughter-in-law, Pei-hsin Chia, of Wooster and two grandchildren.

She was born April 29, 1919, in Killbuck, to Dewey and Lela (Gallion) Clow and married Carl C. Adams on Sept. 22, 1941. He died in 1988.

She is survived by her husband, Claire Kaufman, whom she married June 18, 1949; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Mark Stauffer of Ashland and Kris and Scott Stephens of Jeromesville; a son, Keith Kaufman of Jeromesville; 11 grandchildren and a brother, Wilbur Stauffer of Apple Creek.
Evan Amstutz
COLUMBUS -- Evan C. Amstutz, 90, of Columbus, died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001, at his residence.
He was the brother of Mildred Nussbaum of Kidron.
Services will be Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus. Burial will be at Glen Rest Memorial Estate.

Surviving in addition to his sister are his wife, Donna Amstutz; a son, Kenneth (Patricia) Amstutz of Severna Park, Md.; two granddaughters; sister, Edith Schrock of Lancaster, Pa. and numerous nieces and nephews.
His first wife, Virginia Amstutz, died previously.

DUNDEE -- Richard Eugene Pope, 64, formerly of Dundee, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001, at Utica Care Center.
Graveside services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Dundee Cemetery with Pastor Chuck Ereb Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Dundee Cemetery.
