William Wilford
WOOSTER -- William T. Wilford, 71, 170 Fox Lake Road, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2001, at Wooster Community Hospital.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no services or calling hours. McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691.
He was born July 8, 1930, in Orrville, to Earl H. and Ellen C. (Mosgrove) Wilford and married Lillian M. Burrows on April 2, 1951. She survives.
Other survivors include brothers, Richard Wilford of Ashland and Thomas Wilford of Shreve; and a sister, Patricia Wilford of Orrville.

Blanche Reiss
KILLBUCK -- Blanche I. Reiss, 86, 39120 County Road 19, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2001, at her home.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw, with the Rev. Norman McCoy officiating. Burial will be at Killbuck Cemetery.
Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
She was born April 5, 1915, in Layland to James Leslie and Luella (Duncan) Reiss and married Robert L. Reiss on April 3, 1935. He died March 31, 1968.
Surviving are children, Philip (Linda) Reiss of Killbuck and Beverly (Alfred) Gross of Warsaw; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and sisters, Marjorie Carpenter and Delphia Butler, both of Millersburg, Dorothy Prince of Canton, Betty McQuain and Wilma Clark, both of Akron.

Hazel Geiger
NORTH LAWRENCE -- Hazel C. Geiger, 78, of North Lawrence, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2001, after a lengthy illness.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Atkinson-Feucht-Shaidnagle Funeral Home in Massillon. Burial will be at Sunset Hills Burial Park.
Friends may call Sunday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was born April 4, 1923, in Sandyville, W.Va., to Samuel and Bessie (Franklin) Waggoner and married George E. Geiger. He died June 21, 1985.
Surviving are daughters, Sona (Dave) Chapman of Dalton, Shirley (Jack) Sneed and Sally Olenick, both of Canal Fulton, Sandy Brenner of Canton and Sherry (Rich) Irwin of Massillon; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Edith Eads of Largo, Fla.

Darek Wears
MILLERSBURG -- Darek E. Wears, 22, 364 S. Clay St., died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2001, at Aultman Hospital in Canton, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, with the Rev. David Carrick officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Darek E. Wears Memorial Fund, in care of Edward D. Jones, 212 N. Washington St., Millersburg 44654.
He was born April 2, 1979, in Mount Vernon, to Tom and Marie (Dawson) Wears.
Surviving are a daughter, Trynadie Marie Wears of Millersburg; his parents of Millersburg; maternal grandparents, Ken and Sue Dawson of Millwood; a brother, Jason Thomas Wears of Danville; sisters, Angela Marie Wright of Hesperia, Calif., and Melissa Renee Martin of Millersburg; and two nieces and two nephews.

Jay Rohrer
RITTMAN -- Jay J. Rohrer, 83, 60 Willard St., died Monday, Aug. 13, 2001, at Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Milton Presbyterian Church, with the Revs. Richard A. Lapehn and James E. Watt officiating. Burial will be at Rittman Cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. at Gillman Funeral Home in Rittman, where Masonic services will be held at 8:30 p.m., or one hour prior to the services at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Milton Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 306, Rittman 44270.
He was born July 31, 1918, in Rittman, to John C. and Ida E. (Long) Rohrer and married Marjory Sinnett on Oct. 17, 1942. She survives.
Other survivors include children, Bill Rohrer of Orlando, Fla., Sue Steiner and Jean (Rick) Carpenter, both of Rittman; grandchildren, Rachelle Rohrer, Matt and Nick Carpenter, Jill (Jamie) Scaffidi, Shelly (Judd) Gallus and Kristen (Mark) Miller; and great-grandchildren, Alec, Madison and Ian Scaffidi, Jacquelyn Gallus and Mason Miller.

Lee Robinson
PERRYSVILLE -- Lee Martin Robinson, 75, 139 E. Third St., died Monday morning, Aug. 13, 2001, at SCCI Hospital in Mansfield, after an extended illness.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home in Loudonville, with the Rev. Howard Burnett officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Perrysville.
Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Green-Perrysville Fire Department, in care of Glenn Atkinson, 162 W. Second St., Perrysville 44864; or to the NRA-ILA.
He was born Sept. 13, 1925, near Perrysville, to Lile Lesle and Nellie (Weirick) Robinson and married Miriam Arlene Glasgo on May 16, 1948. She survives.
Other survivors include sons, Martin L. (Thelma) Robinson and Daniel E. Robinson, both of Mansfield; two grandsons; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Lorene Higgs
WOOSTER -- Lorene Higgs, 91, formerly of Nold Avenue, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2001, at Wooster Community Hospital.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster, with the Rev. William Valentine officiating. Burial will be at Reedsburg Cemetery.
Friends may call one hour prior to the services.
She was born Sept. 24, 1909, in Breman, Ky., to George and Victoria (Simpson) Howell and married Elbert W. Higgs on Oct. 8, 1924. He died Nov. 28, 1987.
Surviving are children, Raymond Higgs of West Salem, Roy Higgs, Wilma Williamson, Bill Higgs, Corene Johnson and Mildred Duncan, all of Wooster; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Elma Bixler
ORRVILLE -- Elma B. Bixler, 90, of Orrville, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2001, at Smithville Western Care Center, after a period of declining health.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Kidron Mennonite Church, with the Revs. Terry Shue and Herman Myers officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. in the fellowship building of Kidron Mennonite Church, or one hour prior to the services at the church.
Arrangements are being handled by Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton.
Memorial contributions may be made to the women's sewing group at Kidron Mennonite Church, P.O. Box 232, Kidron 44636.
She was born Feb. 18, 1911, near Kidron, to Amos and Ella (Lehman) Nussbaum and married Reuben Bixler on Nov. 26, 1933. He died June 20, 1994.
Surviving are sons, Vernice N. (Ruth) Bixler of Sterling, Paul E. (Lavonne) Bixler of Saginaw, Mich., Clair D. (Dorcas) Bixler of Orrville, Kenneth E. (Shirley) Bixler of Warsaw, Ind., and David R. (Penny) Bixler of Lakewood; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; a sister, Rosa Kratzer of Dalton; and brothers, Clarence and Delvin Nussbaum, both of Dalton; Irvin Nussbaum of Goshen, Ind.; and Nathan Nussbaum of Bristol, Ind.

Bernard Johnson
EUSTIS, Fla. -- Bernard W. Johnson, 74, of Eustis, Fla., formerly of Wooster, died Monday morning, Aug. 13, 2001.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
He was born Aug. 25, 1926, in Falconer, N.Y., to Deward and Anna Johnson and married Carol M. Seekins. She survives.
Other survivors include children, Bernard W. Johnson Jr. of Brockport, N.Y., Bruce Johnson of Massillon, Brian Johnson of Shreve, Larry Johnson of Eustis, Fla., Evelyn Cannon of Apple Creek and Dawn French of Rittman; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three sisters and a brother.

Crystal Bittinger
DOYLESTOWN -- Crystal M. Bittinger, 23, of Doylestown, died Monday, Aug., 13, 2001.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Zak-Monbarren Funeral Home in Doylestown, with the Rev. Dorothy Carpenter officiating. Burial will be at Chestnut Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was born Dec. 11, 1977, in Barberton, to Steven and Katrina (Burnett) Jett and married Steve Bittinger on May 23, 1996. He survives.
Other survivors include her father and mother, both of Barberton; a sister, Angela LaGray of Wadsworth; a brother, Steven Jett of Barberton; grandparents, Robert and Avalee Burnett and Louvinia White, all of Barberton; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Ruth Weckbacher
WADSWORTH -- Ruth A. Weckbacher, 84, of Wadsworth, died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2001, at Altercare of Wadsworth.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at First Christian Church in Wadsworth, with the Rev. James L. Singleton officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. at Gillman Funeral Home in Rittman, or one hour prior to the services at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, Camp Christian, 116 E. Boyer St., Wadsworth 44281.
She was born May 6, 1917, in Mansfield, to Charles and Lena (Volk) Powell and married Ralph Weckbacher. He died in 1998.
Surviving are children, Donald (Harriet) Weckbacher of Chesapeake, Va., and Marcia (Lloyd) Sigrist of Grandbury, Texas; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Clyde Powell of Roan Mountain, Tenn.; and sisters, Edna Pifer of Wadsworth and Lois Bain of Lynchburg, Va.

Billy Workman
WOOSTER -- Billy Ray Workman, 71, of Wooster, left this world Saturday, Aug. 11, 2001, to be with his Saviour Jesus Christ, his wife, Nellie and his loved ones gone before him. He died at Wooster Community Hospital.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem, with Pastor Floyd Koenig and the Rev. Carlos Browning officiating. Burial will be at Albert Cemetery, Harrisville Township, Medina County.
Friends may call one hour prior to the services.
Contributions may be made to Matteson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 314, West Salem 44287, to help defray funeral expenses.
He was born Sept. 8, 1929, in Wayne, W.Va., to Willard and Mary (Brooks) Workman.
Surviving are children, Billy R. (Barbara) Workman and Michael (Jeanne) Workman, both of West Salem, Christopher Workman, Brenda Sue (Henry) McCormick and Violet Debo, all of Lodi, Vanessa (Ronald) Holbrook of Wooster and Loretta (Bernie) Adkins of Mansfield; 19 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Tex Workman of West Virginia; sisters Fay Staley, Tutti Carter and Betty Harman, all of West Virginia, and Lynn Oldenburg of California; and his girlfriend, Delma Vance of Wooster.
His wife, Nellie Workman, died in 1991.

Charley Kegley
ELKTON, Md. -- Charley M. Kegley, 65, of Elkton, Md., died Friday, Aug. 10, 2001, at Christiana Hospital in Newark, Del.
He was the father of Betty Arnold of Wooster.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are being handed by Hicks Home for Funerals, P.A., 103 W. Stockton St., Elkton, Md.
He was born June 14, 1936, in Cleveland, Va., to Kyle and Marie (McGlothlin) Kegley.
Other survivors include children, David Walker of Conowingo, Md., and Christina Wilson of Rootstown; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Annette Arva of Radcliff, Ky., and Sue Coleman of Paducah, Ky.; brothers, Jack and Stan Kegley, both of Elkton, Md., Donald Kegley of Alexandria, Va., and Gordon Kegley of Hickory, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

Andrew Vavrek
LAKEWOOD -- Andrew J. Vavrek, 92, of Lakewood, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2001.
Family services and burial were held Friday, Aug. 10.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 12200 Fairhill Road, Cleveland 44120.
He was born Dec. 7, 1908, in Cleveland and married Bettie Donahue Vavrek on April 1, 1996. She survives and was formerly of Holmes County.
Surviving are a daughter, Rosemary Shock of Pittsburgh; stepchildren, Richard Donahue of Bay Village, Tom Donahue of Orlando, Fla., and Mary Jo Williams of Creston; two grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and a sister, Mary Mazurka of Cleveland;
His first wife, Frances Vavrek, died previously.

Juanita Kemerley
OCEOLA -- Juanita C. Kemerley, 56, of Oceola, died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2001, at Medical College of Ohio in Toledo.
She was the aunt of Karen (Larry) Hoxworth of Wooster.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Oceola Tabernacle of Praise, with the Rev. Carl Angel officiating. Burial will be at Oceola Cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Lucas Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, or one hour prior to the services Thursday.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
She was born July 14, 1945, in Marion, to Robert and Lois (Cox) Lee and was raised by Reuben and Venita Ellis.
Other survivors include her husband, Norman Kemerley, whom she married Nov. 23, 1969; a daughter, Lezli Kemerley of Oceola; a granddaughter; Reuben Ellis of Upper Sandusky; a half-brother, Charles McMahan of Marion; and a nephew.

Oris Fowler
WOOSTER -- Oris C. Fowler, 85, 1684 Mechanicsburg Road, died Saturday morning, Aug. 11, 2001, at West View Manor Nursing Center, following a short illness.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, Wooster, with Pastor Eric Fairhurst officiating, followed by entombment at Sherwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery mausoleum.
Friends may call at the funeral home, Tuesday from 6-8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to either Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691; or West Hill Baptist Church, 2241 Mechanicsburg Road, Wooster 44691.
Mrs. Fowler was born April 1, 1916, in Wooster, to Carl and Verna (Elliott) Parker and married John A. Fowler. He died in 1958.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Paul (Donna Jean) Schneider of Dalton; a brother, Thomas Parker of Wooster; a sister, Mrs. Esther Huff of Canton; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Paul Jakubec
AUSTINTOWN -- Paul T. Jakubec, 80, 5060 Argonne Drive, died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2001, at his home.
He was the father of Melanie Vinion of Wooster.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Austintown.
Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel.
Family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Valley or Grace Lutheran Church.
He was born Jan. 1, 1921, in Youngstown, to Paul and Julia (Jakubec) Jakubec and married Irene Kerester on March 9, 1944. She died Dec. 16, 1997.
Surviving in addition to his daughter of Wooster are a son, Kenneth P. Jakubec of Austintown; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a sister, Olga Pabst of Austintown.
