EAST LIVERPOOL -- Joseph G. Reed, 84, of Shadyside Avenue, died Tuesday morning, July 31, 2001, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on State Route 14 in Edinburg Township.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Dawson Funeral Home, 215 W. Fifth St., East Liverpool, with the Rev. James Slate officiating. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery, where full military honors will be accorded by Tri-State Veterans Burial Group.
A reception is planned at The Dawson Family Center immediately following he services.
Friends may call Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home, where the Disabled American Veterans will hold a service at 7 p.m.
Surviving are twin daughters, Jeannette (Robert) Sterling of Fredericksburg and Janet (Jerry) Adkins of Calcutta; grandchildren, Charles E. Sterling, Robert V. Sterling and Elizabeth M. Wines; and great-grandchildren, Rochelle Russell, Joseph Wines, Brandi Wines, Cheyanne Sterling and Dakota Sterling.
His wife, Edith (Newlen) Reed, whom he married Dec. 24, 1941, died May 14, 1982.
Raymond Scarr
BALTIC -- Raymond Scarr, 78, 3314 Pleasant Valley Road, died Tuesday, July 31, 2001, at Hennis Care Center in Bolivar, following complications from heart surgery and strokes.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Zion United Church of Christ in Baltic, with the Rev. W. Eric Walch officiating. Burial will be at Westlawn Cemetery in Baltic.
Friends may call Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sugarcreek.
He was born Nov. 4, 1922, to John Henry and Edna Odessa (Young) Scarr and married Kathryn Rhodes on Aug. 25, 1948. She survives.
Other survivors include daughters, Shirley E. Scarr of Bolivar, Patricia (Adrian) Yoder and Karen R. (Phillip) Miller, both of Sugarcreek, and Kimberly (Daniel) Yoder of Dover; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Galagher of Ventura, Calif., Helen Davis of Massillon, Erma Mooberry of Davenport, Iowa, and Ann Lorenz of Fresno; stepsisters, Mildred Harmon of New Philadelphia and Viola Weaver of Carmel, Ind.; stepbrothers, Walter Klein of Baltic and Mervin Klein of Sugarcreek; and 15 nieces and nephews.

LODI -- Timothy M. Bowling, 37, of Lodi, died Monday, July 30, 2001, from injuries sustained in a construction accident in Mentor.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Parker & Son Funeral Home in Lodi. Burial will be at Southview Cemetery in Sullivan.

He was born May 4, 1964, in Ashland, to Merril and Marlene (Dobson) Bowling.
Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Marlene and Fred Jisa of Homerville; a sister, Laura Hartley of Wellington; brothers, Michael Bowling of Medina and Ernie (Marcy) Bowling of Wellington; a nephew; and his fiancee, Wendy Gottwald of Lodi.
Mildred Powell
FREDERICKSBURG, Texas -- Mildred L. Powell, 91, 519 Oak Haven Road, died Friday, July 20, 2001, at Hill Country Memorial Hospital in Fredericksburg, Texas.
Private family services and burial will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville. The Rev. Dennis Rinehart will officiate.
Arrangements are being handled by Auble Funeral Home in Orrville.
She was born Sept. 28, 1909, in Medina, to Charles and Frances England and married Paul L. Powell. He died previously.
Surviving are children, Stephen A. Powell of San Francisco, Calif., and Susan (Charles) Noe of Fredericksburg, Texas; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Frieda Grossenbacher
STERLING -- Frieda C. Grossenbacher, 89, formerly of Sterling, died Monday, July 30, 2001, at Crandall Medical Center in Sebring.
Memorial services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Gillman Funeral Home in Rittman, with the Rev. Fay A. Botten officiating. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date at Mound Hill Cemetery in Seville.

She was born Feb. 20, 1912, in Clarington, to Charles W. and Mary (Luedy) Winkler and married Woodrow Grossenbacher. He died in 1999.
Surviving are a son, Roger W. Grossenbacher of Lancaster; a grandson; and a sister, Clara Winkler of Sebring.
Charles Mann
SAUGATUCK, Mich. -- Charles W. Mann, 89, of Saugatuck, Mich., formerly of Wooster, died Tuesday, July 31, 2001, at a local nursing home.
Cremation has taken place and the ashes will be scattered on the family-owned mountain in Nelson County, Va.
Arrangements were handled by The Saugatuck Chapel, Dykstra Funeral Home in Saugatuck, Mich.
He was born Oct. 8, 1911, in Shipman, Va., to Guy and Elizabeth Mann.
Surviving are his wife, Lorna (Dunn) Mann, whom he married June 6, 1936, in Wooster; and a nephew.
Clarence Asbury
MASSILLON -- Clarence Thomas Asbury, 75, of Massillon, died Sunday morning, July 29, 2001, at his residence of pulmonary fibrosis.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 3955 Wales Ave., NW, Massillon, with the Revs. Mark Jacobs and Terry Weirich officiating. Burial will be at Brookfield Cemetery.

William Clark
WOOSTER -- William T. Clark, 55, 1144 N. Bever St., died Friday, July 27, 2001, at Akron General Hospital.
Graveside services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Wooster Cemetery.

Lucille Taafe
HUBBARD -- Lucille T. "Teedy" Taafe, 76, of Hubbard, died Saturday afternoon, July 28, 2001.
She was the mother of Patty Lee of Wooster.
Services will be Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at Kelley-Robb Funeral Home in Hubbard and at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Church. Burial will be at Hubbard Union Cemetery.

She was born April 12, 1925, in Youngstown, to Louis and Anna Elizabeth (Joyce) Toupin.
Surviving in addition to her daughter of Wooster are her husband, Jerry E. Taafe, whom she married June 25, 1945; sons, Gerald and James Taafe, both of Hubbard; daughters, Judy Herrholtz, Karen Jones and Colleen Noble, all of Hubbard and Kim Yasher of North Jackson; 25 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Jane Murphy of Dayton, Eleanor Bowden of Fayetteville, Pa. and Joan Byers of Canfield.
Richard Perry
RITTMAN -- Richard L. Perry, 63, of Rittman, died Saturday, July 28, 2001, at the Apostolic Christian Home.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Gillman Funeral Home in Rittman, with the Rev. Otto Perry officiating. Burial will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.

He was born April 14, 1938, in Prichard, W.Va., to Eli and Clara (Marshall) Perry.
Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Mike (Robin) Pasterchek of Rittman and Misty Perry of Westfield Center; three grandchildren; a brother, Gene Perry of Kenova, W.Va. and two sisters, Kitty Morris of Palo Verde, Calif. and Dixie Davis of Barboursville, W.Va.
Emilie Holmes
PINEHURST, N.C. -- Emilie Taylor Holmes, 96, died Saturday, July 28, 2001, at Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, N.C. A resident of Orrville for over 70 years, Mrs. Holmes moved to the Pinehurst-Southern Pines area in 1998 to be near her son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Anne Holmes.
Mrs. Holmes was born on Aug. 24, 1904, in Wooster, the daughter of Erma Rowe and Robert Curtis Taylor. She was united in marriage to William Carl Holmes of Orrville on April 9, 1927. He died in 1939.
She is survived by one son and two daughters-in-law, Peter and Anne Holmes of Pinehurst, N.C. and Clara Serjack Holmes of Prescott Valley, Ariz. Also surviving are six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service for Mrs. Holmes will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Orrville Public Library.

WALNUT CREEK -- Joe Davis, 77, of Township Road 444, died Friday, July 27, 2001, at Walnut Hills Nursing Home, Walnut Creek.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ in Walnut Creek, with the Rev. Mark Behrendt officiating. Burial will be at Walnut Creek Cemetery.

Surviving are his wife, Verba Yoder Davis, whom he married Feb. 26, 1962; son and daughter-in-law, John A. and Rebecca Davis of Rincon, Ga.; a daughter, Mrs. Jeffrey (JoAnn) Barber of Canton; and four granddaughters.
Violet Lehman
ORRVILLE -- Violet M. Lehman, 89, formerly of 122 1/2 N. Main St., died Saturday morning, July 28, 2001, at Brenn-Field Nursing Center, Orrville, where she had resided for two months.
Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home, Ansted, W.Va., with the Rev. Allen Donaldson officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens, Victor, W.Va.

She was born June 27, 1912, in Edmond, W.Va., to Joseph and Minnie (Wood) Horrocks and married Lester Lehman on June 4, 1966 in Wooster. He died Sept. 8, 1975.
Surviving are a sister, Eileen (Ray) Wood of Edmond, W.Va.; two stepdaughters, Betty (Bob) Butzer of Orrville and Kathleen (Bob) Keating of Orrville and numerous nieces and nephews.
Brennen Walkerow
ASHLAND -- Brennen Connor Walkerow, son of Donald and Rebecca Walkerow III of Ashland, was stillborn at Samaritan Hospital on Wednesday, July 25, 2001.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Dembow-Primm-Kemery Funeral Home in Ashland is in charge of arrangements.
Surviving in addition to his parents are a brother, Addison Walkerow of the home; maternal grandparents Ronald and Evelyn Mason of Ashland and great-grandmother Nellis Mason of Ashland.
Also surviving are paternal grandparents Robert and Karen Shultz of Ashland and great-grandfather Donald D. Walkerow Sr. of Nashville.
Ethel Wuchter
WOOSTER -- Ethel P. Wuchter, 79, of West View Manor, died Thursday, July 19, 2001.
Services were Saturday, July 21, at Eckard-Baldwin Sanctuary Chapel in Akron. Her nephew, the Rev. John M. Powers officiated. Burial was at Ellet Cemetery in Ellet.
Born in Akron to Alfred and Julia Powers. She married Gerald G. Wuchter. He died previously.
Survivors include a daughter, Lemoine "Lee" (Matthew) Peart of Burbank; sons Gregg A. (Carol) Wuchter of Wooster and Gerald B. (Mary Lee) Wuchter of Bath; five grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

LODI -- Frank A. Smith, 73, of Lodi, died Sunday, July 22, 2001, at Meadowview Care Center in Seville.
Graveside service will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery in Lodi with the Rev. Ralph Griffith officiating.

Richard Stent Jr.
COLUMBUS -- Richard E. Stent Jr., 77, of Columbus, died Friday, July 20, 2001, at Riverside Hospital in Columbus.
Funeral Mass was held Wednesday at St. Andrew Catholic Church. Fr. Michael Watson officiated. Burial was at St. Joseph Cemetery in Lockbourne.
The family suggests contributions be made to Ohio State University Department of Biological Sciences of Children's Hospital of Columbus.
Arrangements were handled by John Quint & Sons Funeral Home in Columbus.
He was born Oct. 8, 1922, in Columbus, to Richard E. Stent Sr. and Margaret (Zehner) Stent-Doone and married Ann Santee, formerly of Wooster. She died previously. He then married Evelyn Gault, formerly of Wooster. She survives.
Andrew Akers
POLK -- Andrew L. Akers, 81, died Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at his home in Polk.
He was born Feb. 6, 1920, in Glenlyn, Va., to McKinley and Evelyn (Long) Akers and married Dora Stowers on June 17, 1942, in Parisburg, Va. She died Jan. 10, 2001.
They are survived by their seven children and their families, Jerry and Bettie Jean Akers of Litchfield, Lila and Norman Haney of Lodi, Tom Akers of Polk, Susan Getson of Nankin, Betty and Robert Travis of Lodi, Ronda and Fred Bragg of West Salem and Ray and Vicki Akers of Polk; 22 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Mildred Boothe and Ruth (Bill) Dunn, both of Princeton, West Virginia.
Services will be Friday, July 27, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Don Thompson officiating at the Ashland County Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. Burial will be at Ashland County Memorial Park where graveside military services will be held.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the Mausoleum Chapel.
