RITTMAN -- Hazel V. Schindler, 78, 348 Decourcey Road, died Thursday night, May 31, 2001, at Akron General Medical Center.
Graveside services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Rittman Cemetery with the Rev. James E. Watt officiating.
There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are being handled by Gillman Funeral Home, Rittman.

She was born on June 19, 1922 in Clarington to Upton and Ella (Lehman) Talbot and married Carl Schindler. He died Aug. 2, 1998.
Surviving are daughters, Nancy (Donald) Stoll of Marshallville, and Frances (James) Breece of Rittman; four grandchildren; a great-grandson; brothers, Carl (Virginia) Talbot, and Floyd "Jim" Talbot of Rittman and a sister, Loretta Earley of New Matamoras.
Evelyn Lecky
WALNUT CREEK -- Evelyn Patterson Lecky, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2001, at the Walnut Hills Nursing Home in Walnut Creek.
Calling hours will be at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Millersburg, Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Eldon Trubee, D.M. officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Gardens in Canton.
She was born in Millersburg to Guy and Gertrude (Findlay) Patterson on Aug. 5, 1908. She married Virgil Lecky of Holmesville on April 6, 1932. He preceded her in death in 1981.
Surviving are a granddaughter, a grandson; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Stallman, Della Ramseyer, and brother, Dr. Owen Patterson and wife, Mildred of Millersburg.

Julius Bloch
MEDINA -- Julius R. Bloch, 77, 7132 Ryan Road, died Thursday, May 31, 2001, at Lodi Community Hospital.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Gillman Funeral Home, Rittman, with the Rev. Gerald L. Keller officiating. Burial will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.
Friends may call Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was born Feb. 5, 1924, in Mantua, to Samuel and Veronica (Shulan) Bloch and married Virginia Schaffter on Aug. 21, 1948. She survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are a son, Richard E. Bloch of Medina; brothers, Oscar Bloch of Seville, Albert Bloch and Elmer Bloch, both of Wadsworth; and sisters, Elsie Packard of Payson, Ariz. and Alberta Charboneau of Cleveland.
Hallie Martin
KILLBUCK -- Hallie V. Martin, 83, of Killbuck, died Wednesday afternoon, May 30, 2001, at Pomerene Hospital in Millersburg, following a two-month illness.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Killbuck United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Cooper officiating. Burial will be at the Nashville Cemetery in Nashville.
Friends may call today (Friday) from 2-4 and 7-9 at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg.

She was born March 10, 1918, in Boyer, W.Va., and was the daughter of Emory Hoover and Lillian Myrtle (Blethen) Adkison. On Jan. 1, 1938, she married Theodore A. Martin. He survives.
Surviving in addition to her husband are three children and their spouses, Nancy and Ned Orr of Apple Creek, Wanda and Charles Finn of Wooster and Judy and Jerry Allison of Killbuck; 11 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Preston Adkison of Corpus Christi, Texas and sisters, Kathryn Fawcett of Lewisburg, W.Va. and Nancy Cochran of Vinton, Va.
Mary Graves
WOOSTER -- Mary E. Graves, 81, of Horn Nursing Center and formerly of Mechanicsburg Road, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at Wooster Community Hospital.
Private family services will be held at the family's convenience.
Roberts Funeral Home, Sherwood Chapel, Wooster, is handling arrangements.
She was born Dec. 19, 1919, in Huntington, W.Va., to John and Mary E. Anness. She married Dwight Graves in 1942. He died in 1982.
Surviving are a sister-in-law of Wooster, a niece and three great nieces and nephews.

PERRY HEIGHTS -- Clarissa M. Owens, 76, of Perry Heights, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at Rose Lane Care Center.
Following cremation, a graveside service will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Brookfield Cemetery with Chuck Svdorka officiating.

She was born in Shreve to Clarence and May (Miller) Parcell.

J. Rex Keyser
SARASOTA, Fla. -- J. Rex Keyser, 96, formerly of Millersburg, died Monday, May 28, 2001, at Bahia Oaks Lodge, Sarasota, Fla.
He was born June 23, 1904, in Homerville in Medina County, to Reuben and Clara Keyser. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lana, in 1964.
Survivors are his daughter, Allegra (Dick) Morrison of Millersburg; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
There will be no services. He will be buried at Hazard Cemetery in West Salem.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southwest, Fla.
National Cremation Society, Sarasota Chapter ,is in charge of cremation.
Carl Maxwell
WOOSTER -- Carl L. Maxwell, 93, 4110 Smithville Western Road, Wooster, died Tuesday evening, May 29, 2001, at Smithville-Western Care Center, following a period of declining health.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Pastor Robert Moeller officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call Friday from 7-9 p.m. and Saturday one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
He was born Oct. 5, 1907, in Holmes County, to Samuel and Nettie (Hochstettler) Maxwell and married Marjorie Marvin on Dec. 30, 1939 in Lodi. She survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are children, Carl Marvin and wife, Diane Maxwell of Creston, Larry D. and wife, Barbara Maxwell of Wooster and Marilyn and husband, Skip Wheeler of Medina; nine grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and a brother, Doyle Maxwell of Mansfield.
Betty Norton
WOOSTER -- Betty Loar Norton, 74, formerly of Normandy Drive, died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at Smithville-Western Care Center.
Services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Schlabach Funeral Home in Shreve with the Rev. Jim Platner officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call one hour prior to the services on Friday at the funeral home.
She was born Oct. 13, 1926, in Ned, Pa., to Ernest and Esther (Flaherty) Loar. Her first husband, Clarence Howell Jr., died in 1988, her second husband, Victor Norton, in September 2000.
Surviving are two brothers, James (Margaret) Loar of Bellview, Fla. and John (Lois) Loar of Shreve; four stepchildren, Donald (Bev) Howell and David (Donna) Howell, both of Shelby, Michael (Linda) Howell of Wooster and Debra Turner of Florida and several nieces and nephews.
Charles Messer
PERRYSVILLE -- Charles R. "Scotty" Messer, 61, 5945 McCurdy Road, died Tuesday evening, May 29, 2001, at MedCentral/Mansfield Hospital Emergency Room, following a sudden illness at home.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville, with Pastor Clyde Thompson Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Loudonville Cemetery.

He was born May 7, 1940, in Eadston, Ky.

Robert Sparr
WESLACO, Texas -- Robert C. Sparr, 92, formerly of Wooster and Moreland, died Tuesday, May 22, 2001, at John Knox Village, Weslaco, Texas, where he had lived since 1991.
Memorial services were held May 29 at John Knox Village Chapel in Weslaco, Texas.
He was born on a farm in Wayne County on Oct. 30, 1908, the son of Ernest LeRoy and Anna Myrtle (Cutter) Sparr. His wife of 54 years, Irene Martin Sparr, died in 1994.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Ted M. and Kathleen C. Sparr of Durham, N.H.; daughter, Nan S. Allen, Silver Spring, Md.; a grandson; a granddaughter; a brother, Walter Sparr of Akron; and sisters, Jane Lippencott of Wood Lake, Texas, Margaret Shultz of Cuyahoga Falls, Elta Goldsmith of Akron and Ruth Rapp of Carlsbad, Calif.
Terry Mowrer
WOOSTER -- Terry L. Mowrer, 54, of Wooster, passed away, Sunday, May 27, 2001, at MedCentral Health System Emergency Room in Mansfield, following a sudden illness.
There will be no services. Cremation has taken place. Custer-Glenn Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Mr. Mowrer was born May 5, 1947, in Wooster, to Donald and Esta (Dye) Mowrer .
He is survived by a brother-in-law, Stephen E. Canode; an uncle, an aunt and uncle; a nephew; a niece, and many cousins.
Dale Hostetler
STRASBURG -- Dale A. Hostetler, 45, of Strasburg, died unexpectedly Monday, May 28, 2001, at his home.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in New Philadelphia with the Rev. Mark Trotter officiating. A private burial will be at Grandview Union Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church Thursday anytime after 2 p.m. with the family present from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 10-11 a.m.

He was born Aug. 16, 1955, in Dover, to Sylvanus M. and Barbara (Hershberger) Hostetler.
He is survived by his wife, Marcia (Troyer) Hostetler, with whom he would have celebrated 25 years of marriage on July 17. He is also survived by three daughters, Krista, Kaley and Kerri Hostetler, all of Strasburg; two sisters, Susanna (John J.) Strauss and Rosanna Hostetler, both of Strasburg and his brother, Daniel (Michelle) Hostetler of Strasburg.
Also surviving are his maternal grandmother, Sarah Hershberger of Mount Hope; his paternal grandmother, Mabel Hostetler of Sugarcreek and nieces and nephews.
Thelma Brooks
UNION CITY, Ind. -- Thelma I. (Rammel) Brooks, 76, of Union City, Ind., died Monday, May 28, 2001, at her residence.
She was the mother of Barbara (Steve) Hufford of Wooster.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. (Daylight Savings Time) at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Union City, Ind., with Father Alan Funk officiating. Burial will be at Union City Cemetery.
Friends may call tonight (Wednesday) from 5-9 (Daylight Savings Time) at Reichard Funeral Home, 400 W. Deerfield Road, Union City, Ind.
She was born March 2, 1925, in Fort Recovery, to John and Clara (Homan) Rammel and married Joe Brooks. He died in 1971.
Other survivors include children, Richard (Elaine) Brooks, Kathy (Tom) Hamilton and Curt (Ann) Brooks, all of Union City, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; brothers, Robert Rammel of Fort Recovery and Ralph Rammel of Bluffton; sisters, Lucy Matchett of Fort Recovery and Dorothy Ortlip of Mountain Home, Ark.; and several nieces and nephews.
Ward Young
ST. CLOUD, Fla. -- Ward W. Young, 73, of St. Cloud, Fla., formerly of Wooster, died Thursday, May 24, 2001, at his residence.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
He was born in August 1927, in Holmes County, to George and Ella Young and married Edna Worth. She died in 1998.
Surviving are a sister and a brother, both of Florida; and several nieces and nephews in the Wayne County area.

He was born Oct. 2, 1918, in Woodbine, W.Va., to Bert Henry and Susan (Cogar) McCombs.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie (Fortune) McCombs, whom he married Jan. 25, 1945. Also surviving are a son, Randy Dale McCombs of Brinkhaven; a grandson and a sister, Lelia McCombs of Coshocton Health Care Center.

WOOSTER -- Rosalyn Louise Spector, 73, 275 W. Henrietta St., died Monday, May 28, 2001.
Private graveside services for the family will be held at Wooster Cemetery on Thursday, May 31, at 11 a.m.
