Lizzie Yoder
MILLERSBURG -- Lizzie Ann Yoder, 88, 5134 Township Road 618, died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at her home after an extended illness.
Services will be Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the residence, with Bishop Roy Mast officiating. Burial will be at Yoder Cemetery, Salt Creek Township, Holmes County.
Friends may call anytime at the residence. Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton is handling arrangements.
She was born May 23, 1912, in Holmes County to Reuben R. and Clara (Troyer) Yoder.
Surviving are a brother, Dan R. (Marilyn) Yoder of Sugarcreek; and sisters Verna Bowman of the home and Mary Erb of Mount Eaton.

Floyd Miller
NORTON -- Floyd P.W. Miller, 82, passed away Friday, March 16, 2001.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Faith Baptist Church, 770 E. Paige Ave., Barberton, with the Rev. James Caskey officiating.
Friends may call Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Bacher Funeral Home, 3250 Greenwich Road, Norton, or one hour prior to services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice Care, 3358 Ridgewood Road, Akron; or Faith Baptist Church Children's Ministry, in memory of Floyd Miller.
He was born April 4, 1918.
Surviving are his loving wife of 54 years, Alice Miller; children Floyd "Billy" Miller Jr., Ralph "Gene" Miller, Robert (Jean) Miller, Marilyn (Harold) Mull, Alice Dangelo and Betty Bing; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Jenny (James) Cain; and many loving nieces, nephews, good friends and dear friends Grandma Stonerock and Bill Grabenhurst.

Wayne L. Hartzler
MARSHALLVILLE -- Wayne L. Hartzler, 70, 16 W. Church St., died Wednesday, March 14, 2001, at Glendora Health Care Center, after a lingering illness.
Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Orrville Mennonite Church, with the Revs. John and Barbara Lehman officiating. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville.
Friends may call Saturday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. at Auble Funeral Home in Orrville, or one hour prior to the services at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691.
He was born Dec. 6, 1930, in Smithville, to Paul and Esther (Corns) Hartzler and married Marilyn Zimmerman on Dec. 30, 1967 in Orrville. She survives.
Other survivors include children, Jim and David Hartzler, both of Marshallville and Suzanne Hilty of Orrville; five grandchildren; a brother, Charles (Cindy) Hartzler of Orrville; and sisters, Jean (Clint) Gerber and Joanne Zimmerly, both of Orrville and Carol (Al) Phillimore of Smithville.

Pearl Gerber
ORRVILLE -- Pearl Gerber, 70, 1961 Lakeview Drive, died Thursday, March 15, 2001, at her residence after a 2-year illness.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Orrville Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, with the Rev. Ramsey Wallace officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Wooster.
Friends may call tonight (Friday) from 7-9 at the church, or one hour prior to the services.
Arrangements are being handled by Auble Funeral Home in Orrville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Orrville Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, 300 S. Walnut St., Orrville 44667; or to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691.
She was born April 25, 1930, in Orrville, to Mervin L. and Laura F. (Troyer) Gerber.
Surviving are sisters, June Gerber and Elsie (Harold) Conrad, both of Orrville; brothers, Garry (Jinny) Gerber of Dalton, Thurman (Rosie) Gerber and Myron (Arlene) Gerber, both of Orrville and Leonard (Elizabeth) Gerber of Killbuck; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Clarence Flath
DOYLESTOWN -- Clarence "Chic" Flath, 84, of Doylestown, died Wednesday, March 14, 2001, at Doylestown Health Care Center.
Memorial services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Zak-Monbarren Funeral Home in Doylestown, with Pastor Wayne LaFollette officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Doylestown Health Care Activities Fund, 95 Black Drive, Doylestown 44230.
He was born March 30, 1916, in Wayne County, to Leonard and Elvira (Mackey) Flath and married Uldine Hofler. She died previously.
Surviving are children, Terry Greer and JoEllen Flowers; several grandchildren; and a brother, Tom (Jean) Flath of Wadsworth.

Howard Grenert
SARASOTA, Fla. -- Howard A. Grenert, 93, of Sarasota, Fla., formerly of Apple Creek, died Tuesday, March 13, 2001.
Services will be today (Friday) at 2 at Palms Memorial Park, Sarasota, Fla.
He was born July 17, 1907, in Butler, Pa., and moved to Sarasota two years ago from Englewood, Fla.
Surviving are sons, Norman D. Grenert of Sarasota, Fla., Donald A. and Jerry H. Grenert, both of Wooster; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Mildred Kiener
ORRVILLE -- Mildred I. Kiener, 89, formerly of 333 E. Sassafras, died Thursday, March 15, 2001, at Brenn-Field Nursing Center in Orrville.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Orrville Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, with the Rev. Ramsey Wallace officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Wooster.

She was born Sept. 29, 1911, near Orrville, to Joel and Lizzie (Berg) Falb and married Elias Kiener on April 5, 1931. He died Dec. 24, 1993.
Surviving are daughters, Theda (Kenneth) Rayl of Clinton and Eleanor (Harley) Bosley of North Lawrence; six grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Robert Bond
WOOSTER -- Robert "Bert" Bond, 82, formerly of North Grant Street, died Thursday, March 15, 2001, at Glendora Health Care Center.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster, with the Rev. Carroll Meyer officiating. Burial will be at Wooster Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was born Sept. 23, 1918, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and married Marguerite M. "Peggy" Mull on June 15, 1947. She died Jan. 26, 1997.
Surviving are a son, Larry Bond of Wooster; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; a half-brother, Elwood "Woody" Bond of New Jersey; and a half-sister, Mary Elizabeth of Puerto Rico.

Reno Shadley
NORTON -- Reno Max "Shad" Shadley, 79, of Norton, died Thursday, March 15, 2001, at Pleasant View Health Center in Barberton.
He was the brother of Nona Hanna of Creston.
Services will be Sunday at 11 a.m. at Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem, with Pastor Robert Holmes officiating. Burial will be at West Salem Cemetery.
Friends may call Saturday from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was born Oct. 31, 1921, in Alger to Clarence and Alta (Cale) Shadley and was married to Betty Shadley. She died in 1987.
Surviving are children, Richard (Terrie) Shadley of Tennessee, Jerry Max Shadley of Akron, Penny (Larry) Copper and Theresa Shadley, both of Norton; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Gladys Kramer
MEDINA -- Gladys B. Kramer, 87, of Medina, formerly of West Salem, died Wednesday, March 14, 2001, at Pythian Sisters Home in Medina.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem, with Pastor Robert Holmes officiating. Burial will be at Rowsburg Cemetery, Polk.
Friends may call Sunday from 3-5 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was born Oct. 7, 1913, in Pennsville, to Bernard and Ethel (Martin) Benjamin and married Howard Kramer. He died in 1992.
Surviving are children, James (Barbara) Kramer and Robert (Evelyn) Kramer, both of Medina, William (Carolyn) Kramer of Charleston, S.C., and Carolyn Sue Harris of Deerfield Beach, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Kenneth Benjamin of Pennsville.

Bessie Gillman
RITTMAN -- Bessie M. Gillman, 93, formerly of South Fourth Street, died Wednesday evening, March 14, 2001, at the Apostolic Christian Home, where she had been a resident for 13 years.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Milton Presbyterian Church in Rittman, with the Revs. Richard A. Lapehn and James E. Watt officiating. Burial will be at Rittman Cemetery.
Friends may call today (Friday) from 2-4 and 7-9 at Gillman Funeral Home in Rittman, or one hour prior to the services at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Apostolic Christian Home, 10680 Steiner Road, Rittman 44270.
She was born Sept. 2, 1907, in Seville, to William and Lulu (Welday) Dempsey and married Karl L. Gillman. He died in 1957.
Surviving are children, Jayne (Rob) Rupe of Trophy Club, Texas, Richard (Dorothy) Gillman and Robert (Alice) Gillman, both of Rittman; grandchildren, Joan (Steve) Gates, Jennifer (Michael) Patterson, Lori (Michael) Williams, Kelly (Andy) Thomas, Jason (Lesa) Halliwell, Bryan (Robin) Halliwell and Nicholas Halliwell; great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Chelsea Patterson, Taylor and Kaitlyn Thomas, Jacob Williams and Jake Halliwell; and sisters-in-law, Blanche Dempsey of Seville and Kathryn Dempsey of Wadsworth.

Marie Edwards
ORRVILLE -- Marie F. Edwards, 88, 204 E. Fike St., died Thursday, March 15, 2001, at Brenn-Field Nursing Center in Orrville, after a three-month illness.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Auble Funeral Home in Orrville, with the Rev. Dennis Rinehart officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Hills Burial Park in Canton.
Friends may call Sunday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was born July 13, 1912, in Flushing, to George E. and Nora F. (Duvall) Fuller.
Surviving are sons, Paul "Buddy" Edwards of Orrville and Ronnie (Mary) Edwards of Big Prairie; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sisters, Laurabelle Curry and Pauline Britton, both of Canton, Betty Rodecap and Charlotte (James) McClain, both of Akron and Mary Jane Stallman of Massillon.

Martha Myers
Washington, D.C. -- Martha Orahood Myers, 70, of Washington, D.C., formerly of Wooster, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at George Washington University Hospital, from leukemia.
Surviving are daughters, Emily Myers of Washington, D.C., and Katherine Myers of Williamstown, Mass.; three grandchildren; and a sister, Nancy Mellon of Ormond Beach, Fla.
Her husband of 42 years, Will S. Myers, died in September 2000.

Carol Gossie
SARASOTA, Fla. -- Carol J. Gossie, 75, 5935 Tidewood Ave., Sarasota, Fla. 34231, died at her home Sunday, March 11, 2001, from complications with lung cancer.
She was born May 18, 1925, in Newark, to William and Mary (Herrold) Lyle.
Surviving are her husband; daughters and their families, Ann and Dave, Laura and Lisa McPeek of Orrville and Beth, Kevin and Braeden Wood of Brookfield, Wis.; her sister, Jean Williams of Northfield, Minn.; and nieces, nephews and their families.
Services will be Thursday, March 15, at Baywood Colony, Sarasota, Fla. Interment will be at Mound View Cemetery in Mount Vernon at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association; or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Joanne Mullins
WOOSTER -- Joanne Bucher Mullins, 68, 1728 Woodcrest Drive, died Monday evening, March 12, 2001, at Wooster Community Hospital.
Services will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster, with the Rev. Floyd Koenig officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call Friday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home, or one hour prior to the services.
She was born Aug. 24, 1932, in Stonington, Ky., to Abram C. and Rhoda M. (Sizemore) Pennington and married Floyd Bucher on Oct. 14, 1954. He died June 17, 1994. On June 24, 1995, she married Elwood Mullins. He died Oct. 10, 1995.
Surviving are children, Keith (Anna) Bucher of Wooster and Rita Okuda of Simi Valley, Calif.; grandchildren, Brandon Bucher and Jennifer and Lisa Okuda; brothers, Jim Pennington of Smithville, Charles Pennington of Greenup County, Ky., John (Linda) Pennington of Cleveland; sisters, Julia Hurst and Armenta (Sam) Barger, both of California, Mary Lou Pyers of Smithville and Grace (Ron) Wright of Burbank; and a sister-in-law, Leona Pennington of North Ridgeville.

Maxine King
WOOSTER -- Maxine E. King, 80, 2216 Melrose Drive, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday morning, March 13, 2001, at Horn Nursing Center, Wooster.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, Wooster, with the Rev. Gary W. Pettyjohn officiating. Burial will be at Blachleyville Cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was born Nov. 9, 1920, in Wooster, to Harry B.L. and Vida E. (Mackey) Schuch Sr. and married Herbert V. King on Sept. 2, 1937 in Covington, Ky. He went home to be with the Lord on Feb. 12, 1973.
Surviving are children, Harry V. (Bonnie) King and Lela E. (Walter) Knepp, both of Dalton, Barney "Tom" (Rita) King of Wooster, Fred D. King of Shreve and Ida M. (Robert) Starn of Winesburg; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; brothers, Harry "Jr" Schuch and Jay D. (Betty) Schuch, both of Shreve; sisters, Mary (John) Swingle and Pearl J. (Kenny) McKinley, both of Wooster and Louise A. (Luther) Everett of Nevada; and many nieces and nephews.

Rebecca Raber
SUGARCREEK -- Rebecca Raber, 81, of New Dawn Health Care Center, formerly of Sugarcreek, died Monday, March 12, 2001, at Union Hospital, after an extended illness.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Walnut Creek Mennonite Church, with the Rev. Ross Miller and Matt Hamsher officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Friends may call tonight (Wednesday) from 6-8 at Butler-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek, or one hour prior to services at the church.

She was born March 18, 1919, in Holmes County, to Mose D. and Lydiann (Keim) Yoder and married Joseph J. Raber. He died Dec. 17, 1977.
Other survivors include children, Paul Raber of Sugarcreek, Mary Jo (Kenneth) VanEpps of Strasburg and Betty (Richard) Zimmerman of Ragersville; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a brother, Clarence (Minnie) Yoder of Sarasota, Fla.; and sisters, Verba (Joe) Davis of Walnut Creek and Mary Bixler of Orrville.

Catherine Bortell
APPLE CREEK -- Catherine M. Bortell, 88, of Silver Pond Road, died Monday, March 12, 2001, at Smithville Western Care Center, Wooster.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Schlabach Funeral Home in Shreve, with the Rev. William H. Valentine officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Shreve.
Friends may call one hour prior to the services.
She was born Jan. 19, 1913, in Passadumkeagy, Maine, to Leo R. and Lucy (Tracy) Dolley.
Surviving are children, Edward (Nancy) Drake and Sonny Bortell, both of Bangor, Maine, Madeline (Marion) Howell of Fayetteville, N.C., Carol Bortell of Wooster and Barbara (Dick) Stone of Shreve; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Milan Yoder
CANAL FULTON -- Milan L. Yoder, 60, of Canal Fulton, formerly of Orrville, died Monday evening, March 12, 2001, in the emergency room at Massillon Community Hospital.
Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Saints Philip & James Church, 412 High St., NW, Canal Fulton, with Father John R. Lody officiating. Burial will be at Warstler Cemetery.
Friends may call tonight (Wednesday) from 6-9 at Reed Funeral Home, 705 Raff Road, SW, Canton.
He was born July 8, 1940, in Orrville, to Melburn and Hazel Yoder and was married to Maureen Yoder for 21 years. She survives.
Other survivors include children, Jeff Yoder of Oakley, Calif., Doug Yoder of Findlay and Pam McComas of Orrville; stepdaughters, Patricia Laubacher and Mary Davis, both of Columbus; 10 grandchildren; his mother of Orrville; brothers, Robert Yoder of Waterford and Lynn Yoder of Orrville; a sister, Julia Johnson of West Salem; and several nieces and nephews.

Sally Slate
STERLING -- Sally A. (O'Brien) Slate, 45, 7675 Sterling Road, died Monday, March 12, 2001, at her residence after a two-year illness.
Private family services will be Thursday at Smithville Mennonite Church Cemetery in Smithville.
There will be no calling hours. Auble Funeral Home in Orrville is handling arrangements.
She was born Nov. 6, 1955, in Wadsworth, to John W. and Frances E. (Cline) O'Brien Sr.
Surviving are her husband, Michael R. Slate, whom she married Aug. 12, 2000, in Sterling; brothers, John (Sandy) O'Brien Jr. of Wooster and Charles "Chuck" (Jeanne) O'Brien of Creston; and four nephews and five nieces.
