Services will be Thursday at 9 a.m. at the residence, with Bishop Dan Schlabach officiating. Burial will be at Raber Cemetery, Mechanic Township, Holmes County. Friends may call anytime at the residence. Smith Funeral Home in Sugarcreek is handling arrangements. Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, Andrew E. (Sarah) Miller of the home; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Lester A. Erb of Millersburg; sisters, Cora Gilman of Mount Orab, Mary Richendollar of Winchester and Mrs. Roman (Ada) Keim of Georgetown, Texas; and a half-sister, Katie Miller of Kidron.

CANAL FULTON -- Gertrude P. (Heller) Fetter, 94, of Canal Fulton, died Monday, Aug. 17, at Rose Lane Health Center. Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home in Canal Fulton, with pastor Terry Mohr officiating. Burial will be at Union Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. She was born in Canal Fulton to Leonard and Sarah (Greisinger) Pfaffle and was a nurses' aide at Massillon City Hospital and had worked for Ohio Bell in Akron and Cleveland. Surviving are grandchildren, Nancy Stoll and Scott Heller, great-granddaughters, Amy and Lindsay Stoll, and a daughter-in-law, Mary Heller, all of Canal Fulton; three stepchildren, stepgrandchildren and great-step-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

STUARTS DRAFT, Va. -- Stanley Theodore Hershberger, 42, of Route 4, died Sunday evening, Aug. 16, at his residence. He was the adopted son of David W. Hershberger and the brother of Nathan Hershberger, both of Fredericksburg. Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Pilgrim Christian Fellowship Church, with Bennie Byler and Tim Yoder officiating. Burial will be at the Amish Church Cemetery. Friends may call tonight (Tuesday) from 6-8:30 at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Hamrick Funeral Home in Staunton, Va. Pallbearers will be Raymond and Marvin Chupp, Dan and Maynard Miller, Jesse Hershberger, and Earl Kauffman. Surviving in addition to his adoptive father and brother, are his wife, Martha (Nisly) Hershberger; sons, David, Benjamin, Richard and Joseph, all of the home; his father of Nanticoke, Pa.; a brother, James Hershberger of Stuarts Draft, Va.; sisters, Esther Beiler of Gap Mills, W.Va., and Dorothy Beiler of Munnsville, N.Y.; and two uncles and two aunts.

NORTON -- John J. Double, 80, of Norton, died Sunday, Aug. 16, at Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital. Surviving are daughters, Mrs. James (Joyce) Crawford, Mrs. Harry (Bev) Houston and Patty Coffee, all of Creston; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sisters, Dorothy Dyck, Ruth Reynolds and Mrs. Donald (Marjorie) Boyes, all of Creston and Gladys Landis of Burbank.

COSHOCTON -- Sylvia L. Laird, 86, of Grandview Avenue, died Monday morning, Aug. 17, at Coshocton County Memorial Hospital. She was the mother of Sally M. (Terry) Lennon of Wooster. Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Free Funeral Home in Coshocton, with the Revs. Peter Shults and Carolyn Mann officiating. Burial will be at Plainfield Cemetery. Friends may call two hours prior to the services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Salvation Army, 219 N. 4th St., Coshocton 43812. Surviving in addition to her daughter, are children, Harold W. (Carolyn) Neldon of Frazeysburg, John R. (Lois) Laird and Susan M. (Robert) Kestler, both of Coshocton; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; four sisters; and several nieces and nephews.

Madaline Houmard
STANWOOD -- Madaline V. Houmard, 83, of Stanwood, was pronounced dead on arrival Sunday morning, Aug. 16, at Doctors Hospital in Massillon, after a long illness. Memorial services will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton, with the Rev. Jon L. Johnson officiating. Cremation has taken place. There will be no calling hours. Surviving are children, Vera Indorf and Larry Houmard, both of Stanwood; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

RED HAW -- Roy S. "Sam" Ward, 79, formerly of 1043 Township Road 133, died Saturday afternoon, Aug. 15, at West View Manor Nursing Home, where he had resided since July 1994. Services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Red Haw United Methodist Church, with the Rev. John Dailey and chaplain George Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Red Haw Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the church. Custer Funeral Home, Wooster, is handling arrangements. ORRVILLE -- Earl B. Crill, 81, 738 Lake St., died Friday night, Aug. 14, 1998, at Brenn-Field Nursing Center in Orrville, where he had resided for the past three weeks. Private family graveside services were held this morning (Monday), Aug. 17, at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville. The Rev. James Powell officiated. WEST LIBERTY -- Ryan D. Reynolds, 18, 4365 U.S. 68 S., died Saturday, Aug. 15 at Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus. He was the grandson of Ruth Reynolds of Creston. Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Bellefontaine, with the Rev. William Zeller officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in West Liberty. Friends may call Tuesday from 1-4 and 6-9 p.m. at Eichholtz Funeral Home, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine, or one hour prior to the services at the church. Joint services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Westwood Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gene Hill officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Friends may call Saturday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, Wooster. Memorial contributions may be made to Westwood Baptist Church, 969 Blachleyville Road, Wooster 44691. ORRVILLE -- Charles R. Bailey, 43, found eternal peace in the arms of God on Tuesday, Aug. 11, 1998. He will be forever loved by his wife, Betty (Fulk) Bailey, children, Vanessa (Bill) Slate, Rachel Bailey and their mother, Rebecca (Walek) Bailey; a daughter, Kylee Bailey; a grandson, Draven Slate; a stepson, Justin Yoder; his parents, Donald and June Bailey; sisters, Catherine Bailey, Tammy (Joseph) Kish and Halle Hallal; and a brother, Donald (Kathy) Corbin. He is loved by his family as a grandson, nephew, uncle, cousin and as a friend. Visitation was Thursday, Aug. 13 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Corrigan Funeral Home, 20820 Lorain Road, Fairview Park, where services were held today, Friday, Aug. 14 at 11 a.m. Interment was at West Park Cemetery.
