WOOSTER -- Leta Taylor, 78, of South Market Street, died Thursday, Aug. 13, at Wooster Community Hospital. There will be no services. McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster, is handling arrangements. Surviving are a son, Ray K. Taylor of Orrville; a granddaughter; and a brother, Donald Weber of Daytona Beach, Fla.

Shirley Johnson
WOOSTER -- Shirley J. Johnson, 54, 605 Spruce St., No. 1, died this morning, Aug. 14, at her home. Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster, with the Rev. Gene Hill officiating. Burial will be at Overton Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the services. Surviving in addition to her husband are children, Samantha Johnson, Richard Ammon and Annette Johnson, all of Wooster; eight grandchildren; sisters, Gloria Haven, Judy Haven and Betty Henry and brothers, Frank and Bill Henry, all of Wooster.

CLEVELAND -- Edward E. Polk, 78, of Cleveland, died Monday, Aug. 10. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Barberton, with the Rev. Albert Kunkel as celebrant. Burial will be at Chestnut Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Zak-Monbarren Funeral Home in Doylestown, with the rosary to be at 7:30 p.m. Surviving are sisters, Sylvia Valencic of Cleveland, Frances Hummel of Doylestown and Mary Steiner of Barberton; a brother, Charles Polk of Barberton; and many nieces and nephews.

WOOSTER -- Pauline "Polly" Santangelo, 67, died peacefully at her home, 979 Lincoln St., Tuesday, Aug. 11, 1998 at 3:30 a.m., with her family by her side. She was guided into heaven by her mother, Lillian Schwartz and her sister, Rita Young. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church. Friends may call Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, Wooster. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster; or to St. Mary Catholic Church, 527 Beall Ave., Wooster 44691. Surviving in addition to her husband are sons, David of Apple Creek and Anthony of South Carolina, daughter-in-law, Juanita Marie, and grandchildren, Trey, Brandon, Donavon and Melisa; sisters, Mrs. Henry (Jacqueline) Santangelo of Wooster, Kathy Bartholomew of Lynchburg, Va., and Mrs. Mervin (Mary Lou) McClelland of Virginia Beach, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

DAYTON -- Victor W. Dilgard, 76, of Dayton, formerly of Wooster, died Sunday, Aug. 9, after a lengthy illness. Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Kathleen Kisner officiating. Burial will be at Wooster Cemetery. Friends may call today (Wednesday) from 3-5 and 7-9 at Routsong Funeral Home, 6 Oakwood Ave., Dayton. Surviving are his wife, Carol; a daughter, Rosemary Schroeder of Oklahoma; stepdaughters, Melissa (David) Ryon of Ohio and Kristen (Tim) Tuggle of Tennessee; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Jack Parry Jr.
OLD Washington -- Jack Parry Jr., 61, of Zane Road, died Monday, Aug. 10, at his home. He was the foster brother of Sharon Marple of Wooster. Services will be Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, 139 S. Ninth St., Cambridge, with the Rev. Beth Stillwagon officiating. Friends may call today (Wednesday) from 2-4 and 7-9 at the funeral home. Surviving in addition to his foster sister and wife are sons, Larry (Betty) Parry, Terry (Patricia) Parry and Ron (Deb) Parry, all of Old Washington; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Joe Parry and a sister, Debbie Sparks, both of Byesville.

William McClarran
BARRINGTON, R.I. -- William "Bill" McClarran, 86, 15 Evergreen St., Barrington, R.I., died Thursday, July 23, at Orchard View Manor Nursing Home in East Providence, R.I., after a long illness. A private service and burial were held in Riverside, R.I. Smith-Mason Funeral Home handled arrangements. Surviving are his wife, Lee McClarran; children, Sandra Hedman of Dorset, Vt., Cheryl Wardrop of Glen Rock, N.J., and Gary McClarran of Strafford Springs, Conn.; five grandchildren; and a brother, Charles McClarran of West Bend, Wis.

BRUNSWICK -- John Francek, 68, of Brunswick, died Monday, Aug. 10 at his residence. He was the father of Lynn Francek of Wooster. Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Carlson Funeral Home, 1642 Pearl Road, Brunswick, with the Rev. Barry Wolfe officiating. Burial will be at Eastlawn Cemetery. Friends may call today (Wednesday) from 2-4 and 7-9 at the funeral home. Surviving in addition to his daughter are a son, John (Cynthia) Francek of Brunswick; and two grandchildren.

WOOSTER -- Veryl L. Rockwood, 77, 2711 Taylor Ave., died Tuesday, Aug. 11, at Wooster Community Hospital. Memorial services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster, with the Rev. Jerry Murphy officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens at a later date. KIDRON -- Cleo T. Augspurger, 88, of Kidron, died Tuesday evening, Aug. 11, at Dunlap Memorial Hospital in Orrville, after a brief illness. Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Waglers Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Iowa, with the Rev. Verney Unruh officiating. Burial will be at Pulaski Cemetery in Iowa. ORRVILLE -- Edna E. Wade, 95, formerly of 264 Wadsworth Road, died Wednesday morning, Aug. 12, at Brenn-Field Nursing Center in Orrville. Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Auble Funeral Home in Orrville, with the Rev. Lowell Gerber officiating. Burial will be at Apple Creek Cemetery. STRASBURG -- Gerald Kutscher, 49, 3394 Lake Road, NW, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 1998, at Union Hospital in Dover. He was the father of Mrs. John (Sheila) Sisler of Millersburg. Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Toland-Herzig Funeral Home in Dover, with the Rev. Greg Carrico officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Union Cemetery in Strasburg. Friends may call tonight (Thursday) from 6-9 at the funeral home, or one hour prior to the services. Surviving in addition to his daughter and wife, are daughters, Mrs. Matt (Theresa) Schupbach of New Philadelphia and Mrs. Bradley (Kimberly) Asbery of Strasburg; his grandson, Dominique Sisler; his mother, Delsie Kaiser of Strasburg; brothers, Jerry Kutscher of Chicago, Mark Kutscher and Bill Kaiser, both of Strasburg and Floyd Kaiser of Gnadenhutten; and a sister, Debbie Moore of Newcomerstown.

Loretta Herron
NEW PHILADELPHIA -- Loretta M. Herron, 69, of New Philadelphia, died Wednesday, Aug. 12, at Arbors in Canton, after a long illness. She was the sister of Mrs. Dewey (Dora) Lacy of Orrville. A Funeral Mass will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, with the Rev. Robert T. Manning officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in New Philadelphia. A reception will follow at Geib Family Center. Friends may call Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home in New Philadelphia, where a wake service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Church, 139 Third St., NE, New Philadelphia 44663. Surviving in addition to her sister, are her husband, Dean R. Herron, whom she married April 14, 1947; three daughters, nine grandchildren, another sister, two brothers and numerous nieces and nephews.

MILLERSBURG -- James "Jimmy" Brisentine, 60, a resident of Castle Nursing Home, died Monday, Aug. 10, at Joel Pomerene Memorial Hospital in Millersburg. Memorial services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Sunset View Nursing Home. Burial will be at West Park Cemetery at a later date. There will be no calling hours. Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, is handling arrangements. Surviving are sisters, Denise Redmon and Mickey Sue Lako, both of Cleveland; two nieces and two nephews; four great-nephews and two great-nieces.

Gordon Fankhauser
STRASBURG -- Gordon Fankhauser, 74, of South Bodner Avenue, died Wednesday, Aug. 12, at his residence. Services will be tonight (Thursday) at 8 at Butler-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek, where friends may call two hours prior to the services. The Rev. Welton Stein will officiate. Graveside services will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Southlawn Cemetery in Beach City, where military rites will be conducted by the Homer Weiss Post of Sugarcreek American Legion. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W. Third St., Dover 44622; or to the Tuscarawas County Animal Shelter. Surviving in addition to his wife are children, Jerry Fankhauser of Dundee, John (Marti) Fankhauser and Mrs. Hans (Nancy) Schindler, both of Dover; stepchildren, Richard Eberly of Uhrichsville, James Eberly of Beach City, Marjorie Slemmer of Canton, Mrs. Dennis (Wanda) Griffith of Bolivar, Mrs. Ed (Donna) McAferty of Colorado and Mrs. Randy (Dawn) Miller of New Philadelphia; eight grandchildren; 13 stepgrandchildren; a great-grandchild; nine step-great-grandchildren; brothers, William and Russell Dean Fankhauser, both of Dundee; and a sister, Paula Jean Hartline of Sugarcreek.

WOOSTER -- Cora M. "Corky" Vizzo, 68, 2216 Melrose Drive, No. 32, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, at Smithville-Western Care Center. Memorial services will be Saturday at noon at Wooster Cemetery, with the Rev. William H. Valentine officiating. There will be no calling hours. McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster is handling arrangements. Surviving are three nephews.

DALTON -- Malinda "Linda" Berg, 55, of Dalton, died Sunday, Aug. 9, at her home after a long illness. Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Living Water Community Church, with the Revs. Mike McFarren and Dan Hostetler officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery. WOOSTER -- Freida R. Yoder, 86, of Wooster, died Friday, Aug. 7, in Grand Haven, Mich. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Wooster. AUBURN, Wash. -- Emma Irene Vestal, 67, of Auburn, Wash., formerly of Wadsworth, died Friday, July 31, in Auburn. She was the sister of Mrs. Shelby (Shirley) Painter of Wooster and Mrs. Kenneth (Bertha) Domer of Shreve. A celebration of life was held Saturday, Aug. 8 at 1 p.m. at the home of her son in Maple Valley, Wash. Her body has been cremated. Surviving in addition to her sisters are children, Jack Vestal and Linda Vestal Small, both of of Kent, Wash., Steve Vestal of Florida, Earnest and Bobby Vestal, both of Maple Valley, Wash.; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, William Owens of Auburn, Wash., and Charles Owens of Maple Valley, Wash.; and another sister, Mrs. Richard (Faye) Vaughn of North Ridgeville.

MOUNT DORA, Fla. -- Patricia A. Sheeter, 69, of Mount Dora, Fla., formerly of Shreve, died Friday, July 31, at Waterman's Hospital in Eustis, Fla. Services will be Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the residence, with Bishop Jonas P. Miller officiating. Burial will be at Yoder Cemetery, Clark Township, Holmes County. Friends may call anytime at the residence. Butler-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek is handling arrangements. Surviving in addition to his parents are a brother, Keith Edward and sisters, Roxanne Marie and Kathi Renae, all of the home; grandparents, Andrew and Betty Schlabach and Freeman and Amanda Miller, all of Sugarcreek; and great-grandmother, Mary Miller of Millersburg.

MILLERSBURG -- George Blair, 84, of Millersburg, died Friday morning, Aug. 7, at Altercare of Millersburg, after an extended illness. Graveside memorial services will be held at PawPaw United Methodist Church Cemetery in West Virginia at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg. Surviving are nieces and nephews, Vernon, Tuana, Veronica, Johnny and Kathy Wilson, all of Millersburg and another niece of Marietta.

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Catherine Miller, 94, of Olympia, Wash., formerly of the Wooster area, died Sunday, July 26. There are no services planned. Burial of the cremains were in Olympia, Wash. Surviving are a niece, Rebecca Mosher of Lakeville; nephews, Arthur Martin of Wooster and John Martin of Jeromesville, and several other nieces and nephews in Indiana and Washington.

WOOSTER -- James H. Reed, 61, 574-A Williamsburg Court, died Monday morning, Aug. 10, at Smithville-Western Care Center. Memorial services will be Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster, with the Rev. Edward Balint officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Spring Grove Cemetery in East Liverpool. The family will receive friends following the service.
