WADSWORTH -- Wayne C. Rohrer, 51, of Wadsworth Township, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001, at Akron General Medical Center, after a two-year illness.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Hilliard & Mullaney Funeral Home in Wadsworth, with the Rev. James R. Mohr officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the 5400 Oncology Wing at Akron General Medical Center.
He was born in Wadsworth to Arden and Alice (Frost) Rohrer.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley (Green) Rohrer; a son, Michael Maharas of Arizona; his mother of Wadsworth; sisters, Linda (Tom) Swartz of Wadsworth and Becky (Douglas) Westney of St. Petersburg, Fla.; four nieces and nephews; and eight great-nieces and nephews.

Willard Chaney
SUGARCREEK -- Willard "Russ" Chaney, 49, 506 Parkhill Drive, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2001, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Dover.
Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Sugarcreek United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Dairel Kaiser and Barry French officiating. Burial will be at Holmes Methodist Church Cemetery, Warren Township.
Friends may call Saturday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sugarcreek.
Memorial contributions may be made to Sugarcreek United Methodist Church Building Fund; or to a charity of the donor's choice.
He was born Sept. 12, 1951, in Dover, to Willard R. and Juanita (Seldenright) Chaney and married Connie Weber on Oct. 9, 1971. She survives.
Other survivors include, sons, Stephen (Stephanie) Chaney of Barnhill, Christopher (Kelly) Chaney of Sandyville and Brian Chaney of the home; a granddaughter; his father of Barnhill; and sisters, Donna (Richard) Rainsburg of Barnhill and Linda (John) Lake of New Philadelphia.

Barbara McIntyre
WOOSTER -- Barbara E. McIntyre, 65, 25 W. Moreland Road, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2001, at Hospice House of Copley.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster, with the Rev. Robert Stull officiating. Burial will be at Moreland Cemetery.
Friends may call tonight (Friday) from 7-9 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Moreland United Methodist Church Building Fund, 138 E. Moreland Road, Wooster 44691.
She was born Aug. 14, 1936, in Wayne County, to Charles and Rosabelle (Calhoun) Lautzenhiser and married Paul McIntyre on April 7, 1957. He survives.
Other survivors include children and their spouses, Valarie VanHouten and Rusty Badger and Jeffrey and Brenda McIntyre, both of Wooster; grandchildren, Jennifer, Justin and Michelle VanHouten, Megan and Cody McIntyre; sisters, Margaret Polen and Mary Brown, both of Wooster and Linda Sipes of Orrville; and a brother, James Lautzenhiser of Wooster.

William Wilford
WOOSTER -- William T. Wilford, 71, 170 Fox Lake Road, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2001, at Wooster Community Hospital.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no services or calling hours. McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691.
He was born July 8, 1930, in Orrville, to Earl H. and Ellen C. (Mosgrove) Wilford and married Lillian M. Burrows on April 2, 1951. She survives.
Other survivors include brothers, Richard Wilford of Ashland and Thomas Wilford of Shreve; and a sister, Patricia Wilford of Orrville.

Blanche Reiss
KILLBUCK -- Blanche I. Reiss, 86, 39120 County Road 19, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2001, at her home.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw, with the Rev. Norman McCoy officiating. Burial will be at Killbuck Cemetery.
Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
She was born April 5, 1915, in Layland to James Leslie and Luella (Duncan) Reiss and married Robert L. Reiss on April 3, 1935. He died March 31, 1968.
Surviving are children, Philip (Linda) Reiss of Killbuck and Beverly (Alfred) Gross of Warsaw; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and sisters, Marjorie Carpenter and Delphia Butler, both of Millersburg, Dorothy Prince of Canton, Betty McQuain and Wilma Clark, both of Akron.

Hazel Geiger
NORTH LAWRENCE -- Hazel C. Geiger, 78, of North Lawrence, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2001, after a lengthy illness.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Atkinson-Feucht-Shaidnagle Funeral Home in Massillon. Burial will be at Sunset Hills Burial Park.
Friends may call Sunday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was born April 4, 1923, in Sandyville, W.Va., to Samuel and Bessie (Franklin) Waggoner and married George E. Geiger. He died June 21, 1985.
Surviving are daughters, Sona (Dave) Chapman of Dalton, Shirley (Jack) Sneed and Sally Olenick, both of Canal Fulton, Sandy Brenner of Canton and Sherry (Rich) Irwin of Massillon; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Edith Eads of Largo, Fla.

Dorothy Pursley
MUNCIE, Ind. -- Dorothy E. Pursley, 79, of Muncie, Ind., died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2001, at her residence.
She was the sister of Nancy (R. Karl) Green of Wooster.
Services will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Parson Mortuary in Muncie, Ind. Private burial of the cremains will be at Beech Grove Cemetery in Muncie, Ind.
Friends may call two hours prior to services.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
She was born in Muncie, Ind., to Ivan O. and Inez C. (Turner) Humbert and married Edmund Lee Pursley. He died previously.
Other survivors include a daughter, Linda Pursley and her husband, William Riggan of Norman, Okla.; brothers, Robert (Mozelle) Humbert of Marion, Ind., and David (Janet) Humbert of Muncie, Ind.; and sisters, Rosemary (Franklin) Martin and Barbara (Ronald) Mixell, both of Muncie, Ind., and Helen Louise (Wayne) Merz, of Fort Wayne, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.

Fern McGovern
WOOSTER -- Fern McGovern, 84, formerly of 7154 Millersburg Road, died Monday evening, Aug. 13, 2001, at Majora Lane Nursing Home, Millersburg.
Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster, with the Rev. Robert Stull officiating. Burial will be at Moreland Cemetery.
Friends may call tonight (Thursday) from 7-9 at the funeral home.

She was born Nov. 5, 1916, in Dundee, to Morris Gerber and Nettie (Umstead) Gerber Renner and married Ralph W. McGovern. He died Jan. 19, 1996.
Surviving are a son-in-law, Burton Blough of Wooster; grandchildren, Kevin Blough of Wooster and Lori Blough of Medina; and sisters, Lillian Snyder of Millersburg, Laurene Klein and Eleanora Gasche, both of Sugarcreek, Dorothy Klein of Wilmot and Ruby Gallion of Big Prairie.

Lawrence Buckingham
WEST SALEM -- Lawrence M. Buckingham, 95, 9812 Ruff Road, formerly of Creston, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday evening, Aug. 14, 2001, at Kingston of Ashland, after a period of declining health.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston, with the Rev. John Castle officiating. Burial will be at Creston Maple Mound Cemetery.
Friends may call tonight (Thursday) from 6-9 at the funeral home, or one hour prior to the services.
He was born Dec. 23, 1905, in Wayne, W.Va., to James M. and Mary "Molly" (Workman) Buckingham and married Mabel Fortner on March 5, 1931 in Fort Gay, W.Va. She survives.
Other survivors include children, Ray (Janice) Buckingham of Ashland, Clifford (Erma) Buckingham of Alum Springs, Ky., James "Hap" (Carolyn) Buckingham of Fruitland Park, Fla., Fern (Lowell) Marcum of West Salem and Geraldine (Robert) Boyes of Fort Gay, W.Va.; a daughter-in-law, Norma Buckingham of Burbank; 20 grandchildren; and 43 great-grandchildren.

L. Paulene Grosjean
LEXINGTON, Ky. -- L. Paulene "Happy" (Hall) Bicksler Grosjean, 94, formerly of Wooster, died Friday, June 15, 2001, at the home of her granddaughter, Lisa Bicksler of Lexington, Ky.
Memorial services were held Sunday, June 17, at Pruitt's Funeral Home, Lexington, Ky.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Bluegrass, 2312 Alexandria, Lexington, Ky.; or Helping Hands, 836 Euclid Ave., Suite 322, Lexington, Ky. 40502.
She was born Nov. 16, 1906, in Orrville to Mr. and Mrs. Frank C. Hall.
Surviving are sons, Richard H. Bicksler of Harbor Springs, Mich., William B. Bicksler of Clinton, Iowa, and David H. Bicksler of Lexington, Ky.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a special survivor, her constant and loving caretaker for several years, Joseph Steenbergen.
Her husbands, Richard H. Bicksler Sr. and James Grosjean, died previously.

Pauline Starn
WOOSTER -- Pauline Starn, 91, 2263 Friar Tuck Circle, died Saturday morning, Aug. 18, 2001, at Wooster Community Hospital.
Memorial services will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Central Christian Church, with the Rev. Robin Myers officiating.
There will be no calling hours. McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, Wayne County Branch, 1740 Cleveland Road, Wooster 44691.
She was born Nov. 17, 1909, in Orrville to George A. and Alice (Steiner) Starn.
Surviving is a sister, Virginia Starn of Wooster.

Ruth Jaberg
WOOSTER -- Ruth E. Jaberg, 89, of Wooster, died Friday evening, Aug. 17, 2001, at West View Manor Nursing Home.
Services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors in Mansfield, with the Rev. Lon McSherley officiating. Burial will be at Mansfield Cemetery.
Friends may call one hour prior to services.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ.
She was born April 6, 1912, in Walnut Creek to Edward and Anna (Flohr) Jaberg.
Surviving are a niece, Carol (Clarence) Musselman of Wooster and a nephew, Russell E. (Sandra) Jaberg of Shreve; great-nephews Christopher (Rachel) Musselman of Wooster and Russell (Christina) Jaberg of Mount Eaton; a great-niece, Amy (Jeff) Cottrell of Shreve; and a number of great-great-nieces and nephews and cousins.

Ernest Taylor
WOOSTER -- Ernest B. Taylor, 82, 1946 W. Highland Ave., Ext., died Saturday morning, Aug. 18, 2001, at Wooster Community Hospital.
Memorial services will be Tuesday at 4 p.m. at the United Methodist Church of Wooster, with the Rev. Dale Sanford and Maj. Mary West officiating. Family burial will be at Wooster Cemetery.
The family will receive friends after the services.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wooster Corps of the Salvation Army, 437 S. Market St., Wooster 44691.
Arrangements are being handled by McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster.
He was born July 22, 1919, in Wooster to Aaron Ernest and Alma Leta (Quigley) Taylor and married Rachel Shobert on May 31, 1947. She survives.
Other survivors include children Martha L. (Steven) Starr, David E. (Pamela) Taylor and Marjorie (Michael) Taylor-Gallagher, all of Wooster, and John Erle (Kimberly) Taylor of Cincinnati; and 11 grandchildren.

Darek Wears
MILLERSBURG -- Darek E. Wears, 22, 364 S. Clay St., died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2001, at Aultman Hospital in Canton, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, with the Rev. David Carrick officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Darek E. Wears Memorial Fund, in care of Edward D. Jones, 212 N. Washington St., Millersburg 44654.
He was born April 2, 1979, in Mount Vernon, to Tom and Marie (Dawson) Wears.
Surviving are a daughter, Trynadie Marie Wears of Millersburg; his parents of Millersburg; maternal grandparents, Ken and Sue Dawson of Millwood; a brother, Jason Thomas Wears of Danville; sisters, Angela Marie Wright of Hesperia, Calif., and Melissa Renee Martin of Millersburg; and two nieces and two nephews.

Jay Rohrer
RITTMAN -- Jay J. Rohrer, 83, 60 Willard St., died Monday, Aug. 13, 2001, at Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Milton Presbyterian Church, with the Revs. Richard A. Lapehn and James E. Watt officiating. Burial will be at Rittman Cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. at Gillman Funeral Home in Rittman, where Masonic services will be held at 8:30 p.m., or one hour prior to the services at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Milton Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 306, Rittman 44270.
He was born July 31, 1918, in Rittman, to John C. and Ida E. (Long) Rohrer and married Marjory Sinnett on Oct. 17, 1942. She survives.
Other survivors include children, Bill Rohrer of Orlando, Fla., Sue Steiner and Jean (Rick) Carpenter, both of Rittman; grandchildren, Rachelle Rohrer, Matt and Nick Carpenter, Jill (Jamie) Scaffidi, Shelly (Judd) Gallus and Kristen (Mark) Miller; and great-grandchildren, Alec, Madison and Ian Scaffidi, Jacquelyn Gallus and Mason Miller.

Lee Robinson
PERRYSVILLE -- Lee Martin Robinson, 75, 139 E. Third St., died Monday morning, Aug. 13, 2001, at SCCI Hospital in Mansfield, after an extended illness.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home in Loudonville, with the Rev. Howard Burnett officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Perrysville.
Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Green-Perrysville Fire Department, in care of Glenn Atkinson, 162 W. Second St., Perrysville 44864; or to the NRA-ILA.
He was born Sept. 13, 1925, near Perrysville, to Lile Lesle and Nellie (Weirick) Robinson and married Miriam Arlene Glasgo on May 16, 1948. She survives.
Other survivors include sons, Martin L. (Thelma) Robinson and Daniel E. Robinson, both of Mansfield; two grandsons; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Lorene Higgs
WOOSTER -- Lorene Higgs, 91, formerly of Nold Avenue, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2001, at Wooster Community Hospital.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster, with the Rev. William Valentine officiating. Burial will be at Reedsburg Cemetery.
Friends may call one hour prior to the services.
She was born Sept. 24, 1909, in Breman, Ky., to George and Victoria (Simpson) Howell and married Elbert W. Higgs on Oct. 8, 1924. He died Nov. 28, 1987.
Surviving are children, Raymond Higgs of West Salem, Roy Higgs, Wilma Williamson, Bill Higgs, Corene Johnson and Mildred Duncan, all of Wooster; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Elma Bixler
ORRVILLE -- Elma B. Bixler, 90, of Orrville, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2001, at Smithville Western Care Center, after a period of declining health.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Kidron Mennonite Church, with the Revs. Terry Shue and Herman Myers officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. in the fellowship building of Kidron Mennonite Church, or one hour prior to the services at the church.
Arrangements are being handled by Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton.
Memorial contributions may be made to the women's sewing group at Kidron Mennonite Church, P.O. Box 232, Kidron 44636.
She was born Feb. 18, 1911, near Kidron, to Amos and Ella (Lehman) Nussbaum and married Reuben Bixler on Nov. 26, 1933. He died June 20, 1994.
Surviving are sons, Vernice N. (Ruth) Bixler of Sterling, Paul E. (Lavonne) Bixler of Saginaw, Mich., Clair D. (Dorcas) Bixler of Orrville, Kenneth E. (Shirley) Bixler of Warsaw, Ind., and David R. (Penny) Bixler of Lakewood; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; a sister, Rosa Kratzer of Dalton; and brothers, Clarence and Delvin Nussbaum, both of Dalton; Irvin Nussbaum of Goshen, Ind.; and Nathan Nussbaum of Bristol, Ind.

Bernard Johnson
EUSTIS, Fla. -- Bernard W. Johnson, 74, of Eustis, Fla., formerly of Wooster, died Monday morning, Aug. 13, 2001.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
He was born Aug. 25, 1926, in Falconer, N.Y., to Deward and Anna Johnson and married Carol M. Seekins. She survives.
Other survivors include children, Bernard W. Johnson Jr. of Brockport, N.Y., Bruce Johnson of Massillon, Brian Johnson of Shreve, Larry Johnson of Eustis, Fla., Evelyn Cannon of Apple Creek and Dawn French of Rittman; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three sisters and a brother.

Crystal Bittinger
DOYLESTOWN -- Crystal M. Bittinger, 23, of Doylestown, died Monday, Aug., 13, 2001.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Zak-Monbarren Funeral Home in Doylestown, with the Rev. Dorothy Carpenter officiating. Burial will be at Chestnut Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was born Dec. 11, 1977, in Barberton, to Steven and Katrina (Burnett) Jett and married Steve Bittinger on May 23, 1996. He survives.
Other survivors include her father and mother, both of Barberton; a sister, Angela LaGray of Wadsworth; a brother, Steven Jett of Barberton; grandparents, Robert and Avalee Burnett and Louvinia White, all of Barberton; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
